If you are looking at strictly value for the money this is a good choice, you will get a lot of food for a very reasonable price. Went in for 2 plain cheesesteaks today to be met with such a great attitude from the manager. Very customer service oriented, listens, is engaged with you, and reads their customers well. Been coming here for years and not once has his attitude swayed. Being greeted with a how are you and being friendly to others goes a long way. No workers on their phone, extremely clean bathroom and dining area. Richard does great work!! This man should run for Human Resources or regional managing lead because this is how it's supposed to be. read more

Torrance Food Crawl #25 A nice taste of Philly. The menu includes hoagies, cheesesteaks, as well as burgers and salads. Today I tried the Pizza Steak, a cheesesteak with provolone, pizza sauce, and optional fried onions. The pizza sauce didn't add much but the the rest of the sandwich was a good, representative cheesesteak sandwich. The steak and cheese were good, but I wish there had been more onion. Next time I would try the Pepper Steak, a cheesesteak that comes with sweet peppers. On a previous trip I went with an Italian hoagie, which except for one item was a great sandwich. I ordered mine with mustard, no mayonnaise, and got a too healthy portion of (Guldens?) yellow mustard. If they had used a better quality of mustard I would have had no complaints, but that cheap American stuff left a bad aftertaste in my mouth. The meat, vegetables, and dressing are top-rate. Next time the application of mayo instead of the yellow stuff would make this a 5-star sandwich to my tastes. There are about 8-9 tables where you can sit, the place is clean, orders are handled quickly and efficiently, and there is plenty of parking in the shopping center parking lot. There are some nice Philly touches, like the huge sign showing Philly love, Tastykakes for a Philly style desert, and Wise potato chips, because why not? read more

I've been to Philly 4 times, each time on business and each time for about a week. I think the only thing I ate for the month of my life in Philly was Philly cheesesteake sandwiches. Depending on where you go in Philly, you get little subtle changes but for the most part the ingredients are the same. Some use different seasonings, some just salt and pepper, some use mayo, some add Philly cream cheese in there. If you're stuck at a convention, they will cheese wiz it with that melted cheese like at the movies. Sounds bad but on a good hang over, it's bomb. Either way, when you go to Philly, every Philly cheese steak sandwich is memorable. I don't know that Philly best would cut it in Philly, but for a California quick Philly sandwich. It's pretty good. I'm from philly, so i've tasted all the philly cheesesteak spots... anyways, the bread was not that great, did not taste fresh, but wish they added more meat to the sandwich. Has a nice pickle bar! We are regulars of the Philly's Best brand but, this was our first visit to this location and we were very very pleased... The couple that were running the business when we dropped by were the cutest and sweetest folk and the restaurant was spotlessly clean! Food was good and had the taste of back east. But the service sucked - greeted by the staff upon entry. But when I asked the young lady questions about the menu. I was given the look of "really??". I had a genuine question which included "which is your best seller" so I can get that one for me and the mushroom one for my wife. What turns me off about any place is sensing that we are either asking too many question or should already know. My take on the lady's attitude is that she doesn't like her job and couldn't give a rats arse on the quality of service she provides, OR LACK THERE OF! Always get the chicken or steak mushroom with grilled onions. Yum. My boyfriend gets the uh..I guess the original? Or whichever steak Philly that has everything without onions and he really enjoys it. There's not that many options for Philly cheese steaks around so we come here to fulfill our taste buds. We love the onion rings and it's a clean environment which I appreciate. I can see why people say it's on the lighter side, but I actually like that so I don't get that heavy feeling. Haven't found anywhere better yet, so this is the place that hits the spot, plus my boyfriend loves the fact that they actually have sweet peppers, other Philly places we've been to don't offer it. : ) read more

Love the sandwiches here. They have Amoroso rolls, Wiz, and Tasty Kakes - The trinity of a true Philly sandwich spot. We tried the Italian which was really good and not too heavy. I had the chicken sandwich after seeing the pic on the window that showed they use shaved chicken instead of cubed or sliced. I added wiz and onions, and I really enjoyed it. Only thing I would change next time is make it double meat. Also had the cheesesteak fries which were very tasty. The prices were surprisingly low at an average of $6.99 per sandwich. Best philly cheese steaks locally. I tried Del Amo Steakhouse in the mall and it's decent, but Philly's Best is way better. First off, they have both types of cheese here, cheese wiz and white cheese. The mall one only has provolone or swiss... bad idea!!! I've eaten at Philly's Best twice and both times, the service is friendly/fast, and the food is delicious. It's greasy, but not overly greasy, I mean, it's a cheese steak, it's supposed to be a little greasy. The price is comparable to other cheese steak joints. It's not overpriced, just right, about $8. Good size, no complaints there, you will be full, but not stuffed. There were many people there during my two visits, which is a great sign, you won't be disappointed with this place. The location is hard to spot, it's in the Torrance Crossroads plaza, on the corner of Crenshaw blvd and Lomita blvd. Honestly, this sandwich was a pleasant surprise! Being that this plaza is now home to four sandwich places, I kind of expected a "quantity over quality" situation with good old number four. Wrong! Know that my Philly cheesesteak radar is weak, as this was only number two in my 30 years of sandwich eatin', but it was very tasty! The bread is what really set it apart for me as well as the messy but delicious flavors waiting inside. My other half was such a big fan that we were repeat customers not long after our first visit. Being that my stomach's cheesesteak quota had been met for the month, I went with the kid's meal ham and cheese. Let me tell you, this meal is meant for one big kid. Paired with a small drink and small fries, this meal left me full and Greg a little jealous. Which does lead me to the fries... Not sure how they do fries in Philly, but if it is with zero salt, then Philly's Best is following suit. The first trip I split some cheese fries with Greg, which are unsalted fries that come with cheese dip (think Velveeta). Although lacking some flavor even with the cheese, we thought it was either a fluke or because it came with cheese. Then I tried my kid's meal fries which were also lacking in the salt department. I suppose you could try and sprinkle salt on yourself, but the whole logistics of convincing the tiny granules to stick to the fried potatoes is another story.
