The base is thick and doughy, layered with some mozzarella, a tasty sauce, and slightly charred pepperoni. The tavern style provides a nice contrast. Served cut into squares, it has a solid thin crust that holds up nicely under some melted cheese and loads of flat pepperoni. This remains my absolute favorite deep dish in Chicago, and I go anytime I'm in town visiting. Pro tip: Make a reservation well in advance because walk-in wait times get incredibly long.

Overall, I really wanted to like this place but it wasn't there as a tourist who's had pizza from different parts in the US. It was a nice try as a first and last time.

Tonight is and will be the last time I EVER order Phil's Pizza. You call an order for jumbo special and a small cheese & pepperoni you ask for the price so you have CASH because that's all they accept the girl on the phone gives you the price of $31.75 and says 30-40 mins forgot to add onions on the small pizza so call back add the onions no problem go get cash and time to pick up pizza go in to counter and pizzas come out and she tells Katie $42.95 Katie says what I was told 31.75 and the girl says no it's 42.95. Now she has to use the ATM to get additional cash and the machine charges another $2.50 for the fee so I call and want to know why are they charging like 12.00 for onions and I am told that the small pizza is like 13.00 and the jumbo was like 32.00 so both pizzas are now 42.95 so I ask what happened to the price quote over the phone that I asked for so when I go in to pick up and I have the correct amount of cash she says no that's not what I told u I never gave you a price so I asked where did the price come from and when I called back to add on you knew I ordered 2 pizzas her BAD ATTITUDE tells me too bad so i ask for the owner some RUDE man gets on the phone and tells me you want the pizza pay the 42.95 or leave it and then he says I am not stupid to allow you to only pay the 31.75 for two pizzas & hangs up. I just had the most incredible pizza experience at Phil's Pizza! The moment I walked in, I was greeted with the warm aroma of freshly baked crust and the friendly smile of the staff. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, perfect for a night out with friends or a family dinner. But the real magic happened when I took a bite of their signature pizza. If I could give this place negative 50 stars, I would.... they got my order wrong, so i had to drive back after eating a pizza I didn't want...I politely asked for slightly less than half my money back, and they refused. The owner immediately chased me out the door, and said "he doesn't need my business" as I walked out, the teenage cashier girl gave me the finger, and all their workers were giggling and laughing needless to say I will never go there again plus they are OVERPRICED...$11 for a small 10" 1-topping pizza if you want to dine in, they do NOT have any cups for water, even though they have a button for water from their soda fountain. If you want water, they make you buy a soda cup for the price of a soda ($1.50). Maybe this is their way of preventing you from dining in. When I begged for a cup for water, the guy offered me a souffle cup LOL. Another time, I was dining in and asked for a plastic fork and knife, and the cashier yelled at me, saying " what do you want that for, people around here eat pizza with their hands" pathetic that this kind of service exists...the pizza is ok but not good enough to justify that slimy mob behavior F this place read more

So on Monday October 7th 5pm about to get off work and call my mom to see if I should pick up dinner. She has a taste for Phils OK well since we have a big family I call and order 2 Jumbo pizzas (left overs for lunch on Tuesday) The girl taking my order is some kind of special but that's OK I still order for pick up she says I will call you back with a total I say don't worry about it I will be there soon. I leave work notice a missed call but don't bother with it because I'm about to start driving and I just want to get home. Show up there in 30mins to hear from the special girl who took my order that they didn't make my pizzas!!!! I said excuse me why would you not make my order???? Ordered delivery on 1/18 around 11:50pm, driver called and claimed that vehicles were getting towed in my complex. A complete lie, as we order multiple deliveries throughout the week at different times of the day. He asked if I can meet him downstairs, was too exhausted and I did not oblige. As a driver, I believe it is their responsibility to deliver the food. Drivers not only receive the delivery charge, but they also get tips. I was not interested w anything he had to say after he demanded me to pay for his expenses, if his car was actually to be towed. I hung up on the driver as I was not in the mood to get harrassed. Called Phil's, to inform them, but no answer. To the owner/manager, please re-evaluate your policy. If this is the case, inform your customers when placing the delivery ahead of time, so we can prepare and avoid dealing w rude and obnoxious drivers like the one you assigned. read more

Phil's Pizza in Bridgeport is where I go when I want a no-nonsense, cash-only slice that hits hard. I picked up a medium sausage pie with giardiniera and a pepperoni. The thin-crust is gloriously greasy, cheese and sauce piled on thick, just how folks around here like it. The spot's retro vibe, tin ceiling, counter-serve, no frills, makes it feel like stepping into a classic Chicago pizzeria. Phils pizza is a solid choice, consistent. Thin crust is not to Crusty, still has a little bit of chew to crust but outside edges are cracker like crust. Sausage is always consistent and tasty with a hint of fennel flavor. Small amount of oregano sprinkled on top. The location itself is is nothing fancy, and is on a stretch of almost industrial area. After 8pm it's a dark stretch and could be missed easily. We ordered a large pizza with chicken and spinach and it was pretty decent! It definitely came out hot! My aunt also ordered the jumbo italian beef and it was very large lol. She wound up taking most of it home. Main guy behind the counter is pretty good with getting the orders and getting you all setup and tells you to grab a seat wherever you want in the dining area. You can dine in, pick up or get delivery from this joint!

We arrived and met Vince at the bar (not actually the real Vince but the dude in the videos), nice guy. The buffet was pretty darn good. The pizza which was what I wanted to sample first was very good. The meatballs were outstanding, the Fettucine Alfredo was awesome and cheesy, the Mostaccioli in Genevive sauce, different but also very good. Definitely an old school, in the city Italian joint. All you can eat for $16.99, pretty good deal. We'll be back but maybe for the Tuesday sandwich buffet.

The moment I walked through the door, I can tell this place has a personality of its own. From the name alone I knew I was in for something fun, and inside it's a full-on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme. Toys, collectibles, old-school memorabilia, video games... everywhere I look there's something cool to notice. The owner was incredibly nice too and made us feel welcome right away. There were so many pizzas to choose from, but one immediately caught my attention, the Street Shark. Pepperoni, pineapple, bacon, green peppers, jalapeños, and garlic. Sweet, a little meaty, and straight-up heat. I had to try it. And what a slice. The first thing that hit me was how well all the flavors worked together. The pineapple brought a juicy sweetness, then the pepperoni and bacon came in with that rich, smoky, salty flavor that balanced everything out. Just when you thought it was all sweet and savory, the jalapeños kicked in with a nice heat that slowly built up without taking over the pizza. Every bite was different, but somehow every topping belonged there. The crust had a great texture, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. I'll definitely be coming back to try more of the menu. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
