I've tried about all the coffee shops in the OC and beyond and Philz is my fave. A wide selection of unique coffees and more. Highest quality and the service can't be beat. Kat helped us today and she was amazing; extremely knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. Someone who takes pride in what they do. Good customer service is not dead! I had the Gingersnap iced coffee today, medium sweet, and oat milk. Very good. My usual is the mint julep which is tough to beat. Also love their avocado toast! Ambience is also great in both the Pasadena and Costa Mesa locations (only two I've been to). Only tricky part with Philz is their line system at the counter. I absolutely love Philz Coffee and am so glad they opened this location! I am typically and iced coffee drinker and though the iced options at Philz are limited, they're incredible. You can never go wrong with the Mint Mojito - make sure to ask for it sweet and creamy! Their new Iced Coffee Rosé is also great, just a little on the sweeter side. It's nice that they don't add an extra charge for milk alternatives either. The store does get very crowded and doesn't have much seating, so just keep that in mind if you're looking for someone to sit down and stay at! read more

I used to really love Philz, borderline obsessed, and would go 5-6 times a week when I worked near one. Changed jobs and Philz was no longer close but whenever I would pass one I'd stop in for a cup. The last 5 or 6 locations I've been to, both in NorCal and SoCAL, have been disappointing. Not only has my one favorite drink been made poorly, as in not sweet and creamy as I ordered, I've had it remade and still tastes watered down and still not sweet or creamy. I don't know if it's the lack of training, overworked baristas, or too many orders all at once, but I'd much rather have my drink take longer and be made RIGHT instead of asking for a new one. This latest experience has turned me off from Philz, unfortunately. And I don't plan on being back. I ordered two large drinks, both sweet and creamy. Waited 15 minutes. Got my drinks. One not sweet, the other not sweet OR creamy. Paying nearly $6 a cup, I took them back to be remade and waited ANOTHER 15 minutes. Got my new drinks; now lukewarm, one is sweet but not creamy, and the other also not sweet. I didn't have time to waste another 15 minutes for a THIRD time so I took my drinks and left. Cool place to drink a sip of coffee. I love the mint mojito and the interior of this place. The baristas are nice and overall quality is just great. If you want to study here, there is a section where people can study with outlets. However, the chair is high chair, so it can be uncomfortable for some people. read more

Not bad for my first time. I heard a lot of good things about them and always wanted to try it out. The coffee was good, Although it being my first time I wasn't familiar with the ordering process so it did feel a little funny trying to figure that out. Not rocket science but if you're used to walking up to the register first to order just know you order at the barista bar first then take you're drink to the register to pay. Service is horrible. I really don't come because it's out of my way. I asked them if they could remake my drink and they took over 30 min. They made me be late to class. When I got up to ask about my drink he's all like I'm going to remake it after I was waiting forever. Starbucks never gets upset if you are not happy with your drink. Came to this place for a meeting with one of my clients. When we walked in they treated us very nicely. They were super nice. I was surprised about the menu, and they had so many things I got the most famous coffee and a croissant and a chocolate cake, the coffee, the desserts were really delicious. I frequent this location and my drink is always very inconsistent. It seems that Ryan is one of the only baristas who makes it perfect every time and ALWAYS asks me to taste it to make sure it's perfect. I don't know who made my drink 20 minutes ago but it's the most watery cup of not coffee that I've ever had. Customer Service at corporate head-quarters is non-existent. Been trying to call the customer support everyday for the last week and all I get is voice mail box full or "You reach during off hours." They are in SFO bay area and been calling from 9-5 PST and on one seems to be there. As much I enjoy their coffee, will never buy it again. Too many choices to deal with this type of service. Great coffee. Enjoy all the variety of flavors. Our go to is the Julie's Ultimate. Whenever we purchase, always on the lookout of new or seasonal flavors. The local staff is almost always friendly and helpful. AVOID Online Subscriptions!!! The signup is quick and simple but unable to edit/pause/change afterwards. No response to any emails. I was so disappointed with my coffee here. I got something simple, just an oat milk mocha and it just tasted like drip coffee. There's a lot of different specialty drinks and maybe those are better but a simple mocha shouldn't be that hard to mess up. I love this place. 1000 times better than Starbucks. My favorite is the Tesoro mocha with oatmilk. My boyfriend usually gets Jacob's Wunderbar. Parking is terrible but customer service is top notch. The drinks are all customizable and they always ask if it's ok. One time I forgot to ask to sub oatmilk and they remade it for me. They also have these tasty little breakfast burritos. One of my favorite coffee shop finally opened in central Orange County. My favorite drinks are the iced mint mojito coffee and iced ecstatic coffee. Can't go wrong with either! I normally get it the Philz way which means they'll make your drink sweet and creamy. I also got the tried their new drink iced coffee rosé and I loved it. The nice floral flavor was subtle and complimented the coffee really well. It might become my new go-to drink! read more

I really like this location across from South Coast Plaza. The venue is modern, clean and open with high ceilings and lots of natural light creating a nice environment. The staff is courteous and helpful. I got the mocha latte with almond milk and it was delicious. The texture was creamy with a perfect temperature and not too sweet. Interesting concept. You get in a line to place your order with the barista that will make your drink. Then you go to the cashier to pay for your drink. Then you wait for your drink from the barista that took your order. I ordered the chai tea, what I like is that you can have your own sweetness level and any other changes you'd like. They have a good range of milk type products as well from almond to soy. The drink was perfectly made with a nice sprig of mint on the top. Very nice place to get a cup of joe or tea. read more

My co worker and I went last Saturday at 3pm I understand this is basically all white people working behind the counter but we ordered and when the barista called my co worker name daisy and also Stephanie at the same time she went to grab daisy which is her order she had a large drink while the other order for Stephanie was a small The girl grabbed the big drink and asked her are you daisy or Stephanie and she said I'm daisy and the girl legit looked at her and said you don't look like a daisy. The staff here is very nice. So far I have tried the Philz Iced Tea and the Mocha and both were quality, but the service is what sets this business apart from others. By mistake I left without paying, and I called in to ask what to so and they were very chill about giving me options such as ordering over the mobile app or just paying next time. Finally checked out this location on a rainy Saturday and it was quite busy. Location is right across South Coast Plaza. Wish it was inside the mall but what can you do. Philz Mint Mojito is my all time favorite coffee in SoCal. I usually get it sweet and creamy. For someone who doesn't like mint flavor food, I'm pleasantly surprised by the flavor of Mint Mojito coffee. It has a nice balance between the creaminess of the coffee and the refreshing mint flavor. I usually opt for a tea at night- the Chai tea just might be my favorite. The staff are friendly and can recommend a drink to you if you're having trouble deciding. Guess I'm ditching Buckies for sure now. 1 hour free parking for Philz customers (entrance on Bristol or Sunflower) and the line on Friday afternoon (exactly at noon) was short. Nice patio available so you can enjoy the good California sunshine~ bring your four legged companion for a coffee break and enjoy the patio! Inside is also large enough to fit in many Philz enthusiasts. Definitely larger than Pacific City location. Also bigger (maybe because everything is shiny and new) & better looking food/pastry selections. Service was prompt with friendly baristas & my coffee tasted awesome as always. As a Philz Coffee lover, I can confidently say this location is really inconsistent with how they make their drinks. I've been to the one in Fullerton and Huntington Beach and multiple locations by the Bay Area, and this location is the first to disappoint me. I order my coffee with creamy sugar--which is usually sweet enough, if not too sweet at other locations-- but when I get my drink here, it always ends up tasting like water lol. I've really never have a problem with my drinks except for this location. To combat the long line, I suggest y'all get the mobile app and order ahead of time! read more

Awesome customer service. First time customer, didn't know what to order or how to go about ordering it; stood there like a deer in headlights. If you are looking for a coffee shop with unique blends, this is the place to go~ Parking lot is pretty small, so highly recommend ordering an the Philz App before or walking over from South Coast Plaza. I ordered the drinks ahead of time and it was made fresh right when I requested for pick up. The barista who made it left her name on the cup, which I though it was really sweet. The shop is very small and little seats, its kind of loud so maybe not the best place to do homework. Coffee prices are on the steeper side, I got the Philharmonic, which was $3.60 for a small. The mint mojito that my mom got was ($4.60). Coffee roast is on the darker side here, so I thought my coffee was a bit too strong. I was skeptical about the mint/coffee combo but it was surprisingly refreshing. The balance of flavor between the mint and coffee was on point, they even put fresh mint in the coffee. I met with a couple of friends here at 6:30am on a Saturday morning. Hardly anyone was at the store yet it took them 25 minutes to make a cup of coffee and heat up a turkey sausage sandwich.
