Philz is definitely one of my favorite coffee places in the Bay! I originally only came to Philz for their well-known "Mint Mojito" coffee drink but I've been able to explore a number of other items on their menu since and can confidently report there are many unique, flavorful, and delicious options at Philz! My usual go-to's are either the Philtered Soul or Ecstatic (which is an iced option). The Philtered Soul has a hazelnut flavor that I've never tasted anywhere else (without syrup or anything!) and is definitely worth a try if you haven't had it before. All of their drinks can also be customized to your level of sweetness/cream AND you can choose what kind of sweetener and cream (including oat milk!) you want in your drink without an extra charges! The employees at Philz are incredibly dedicated to making sure you love your coffee drink. Prior to COVID, they would have you taste it right at the counter after they make it so they could make any adjustments as necessary. I have to revisit this Phil's location. And it's because I work in retail, and for a company that strives to provide amazing customer service, I can recognize when a particular store gets it right. Besides being full of many of my many favorite Phil's baristas: Nessa, Skylar, Micheal and Micheal, and a few whose names I don't know, but who's smiling faces I always recognize, it's the place I come to when I need a pick me up. So last Saturday, I placed a pick up order, thinking it would be ready in 15 minutes. Ran my errands, and realized there was a 35 minute wait. I had to be in Burlingame in 30 minutes and didn't have tome to wait. I called in, Micheal answered and yolet me to come in, there wasn't a line and he'd take care of me. By the time I got there, a line had formed, but Mïchael waved me over and to my surprise was ESSENTIALLY done with my online order. That is the type of customer service I love for. I love this Philz! The drinks and food are always good, the baristas are very friendly and accommodating. There is plenty of places to sit and it's usually pretty quiet and easy to find a seat. The parking is somewhat hard to find and the spots are small, but the parking lot is large because of the giant shopping center, so there's always a spot within walking distance. I really like the music, it isn't too loud or too quiet. The playlist is also nice if you want to study and listen to something relaxing and not too distracting. read more

Perhaps I checked into the wrong place the first time I wrote a review, but I always love the variety of pastries Phil has to offer! They had a vegan pumpkin bread and it was so moist and delicious I went back another day and bought another one!! I put in a mobile order. My drink was "sweet sugar", but they forgot the sugar. Because it was curbside, I didn't try it until after I left, so I couldn't get it corrected. They were 10 to 15 minutes late on my order. The extra star is because the staff was friendly at least. read more

Am not fan of the quality of this coffee but I gave it another chance to try at it has different flavors not available elsewhere but again I didn't enjoy the coffee. Mine had too much spices that made the coffee taste a savory meal with coffee and cream. My husband in contrast ordered coffee with berry flavor and he didn't taste that flavor at all. They also don't have tissues or any sugar, wooden mixtures, nothing available to costumers. We had to go to the car to grab our own. However, there are plenty of seats to study or work but a little loud as well. They have all gender restroom and a couch area. The service was nice tho. read more

I used to be basic and only ordered the Mint Mojito, but!!! I decided to be adventurous and started to order different drinks. Verdict??!! There are drinks that are better than the Mint Mojito. Like what?! Mind blown. I highly recommend the Philtered Soul Cold Brew and the Summer Crush! They're both freaking delish! I always get any drink here "sweet & creamy" and it never disappoints this way. I've even converted non-coffee drinkers to try the Philtered Soul Cold Brew and now they're addicted. The only drink that I don't recommend here is the Iced Coffee Rosé...it basically tastes like roses in my coffee...not into that. However, try it if you're curious but don't say I didn't warn you! In regard to food, I really enjoy the pumpkin slice, bacon & onion pretzel croissant (soooo good), and the pork sausage & egg burrito (don't forget to ask for Tapatio)! read more

I went there today and found out they don't accept cash. I guess they only want privileged folks with 700 credit scores or $1000 smart phones buying their coffee. The slap in the face was the tip jar next to the register that had cash in it. So I guess cash is OK as long as it's in the form of tips that you don't have to claim as income...NICE!! read more

9/7/2020- I bought a bag of beans (Philtered Soul) from this location last month because some friends in Michigan had been raving about Philz after they tried it. Funny thing is that someone had an old bag of Philz coffee that was several months expired but it was too good to go to waste. I wouldn't recommend anyone to eat expired food but if they were still so excited about expired coffee from Philz, then a fresh bag would've been spectacular. The Philtered Soul is a medium dark roast coffee with a burst of chocolate and hazelnut. The price for a one pound bag was $17, which was not bad. I was expecting higher for such good quality beans. My friends absolutely loved this blend (and Philz in general). These beans make great gift for coffee-loving friends. read more

The drinks and service here are fine. No problem with your typical quality of coffee at Philz. HOWEVER, I have an issue with the volume of music being played there. On a Tuesday afternoon, they were playing loud, heavy songs. There were even metal songs mixed in, all of which were distracting to people trying to do work/chat inside. I've always loved Philz sweet & creamy and today was no exception. My drink came out with a nice touch of sweetness and it was very creamy. It's basically like a rose milk tea but w/o the boba and better than the ones I've had. This review is for their iced rose coffee. I got it with less ice and with their creamy oat milk. I give it a 2/5. I taste the rose flavor and I taste the sweetness, but I don't taste the creaminess. I wanted to try it out because I read so many reviews saying how it tastes similar to their mint mojito, which is one of my favorite drink to get there. Disappointed.. It's definitely not the same and definitely not in the same category. Maybe someone made it wrong, but mine just tastes like lightly flavored rose coffee that's watered down. Five stars. Not only one of my favorite coffee shops from the South Bay to Santa Cruz, but THE best Philz I've been to. Everyone is super nice and accommodating, and it's the perfect, cozy atmosphere to study or just hang out. I go to De Anza and come here all the time, and I'm especially thrilled that they're back to their normal hours. I hardly ever write reviews, but this place 100% deserves 5 starz (ha). Philz is next level coffee. I was introduced to the Mint Mojito coffee (fresh mint leaves, coffee, cream, sugar) many years ago and I instantly fell in love. There aren't too many locations around which is probably a good thing because their coffee is not your run of of the mill coffee will generally cost you about $5/cup for a medium size drink. Over the last couple of months, I tried all of their drinks on their menu with the exception of the Rose Cold Brew and the Gingersnap. If you order in person, be prepared to wait as each cup is hand crafted and takes a few minutes to make. I use the Philz app and have never had any issues and appreciate that my drink is ready to go upon my arrival. As far as food items, their burritos and pastries are really good too. They used to have the Philz Bagel (everything bagel with fresh sliced tomato, cucumber slices and cream cheese) which was my favorite but they seem to have discontinued it during the pandemic. If you're near a Philz, I would definitely recommend checking them out! read more

I absolutely love this location. I have been to many philz locations here in the bay and honestly none of them give the same experience as this one. The crossroads location has a staff that ALWAYS greets you with a smile. They are ALWAYS so kind, helpful, and patient. I drive all the way from san jose everytime now just to come here. I've worked in the food industry and in customer service and people truly underestimate the power of a smile and good service. It keeps people coming back, not just for good coffee, but for a good experience, good energy. I ordered a Rosé with suggested sugar and froth while my friend ordered mint with half sugar and no froth. I really like the mint one but I always order the house suggested with no alterations. Today, I didn't like the one my friend ordered, I feel the froth itself brings in all the flavor and texture. I really liked the froth and texture for rose. It tasted very familiar and refreshing. I'm giving the one star short because my wife I had ordered a green vrade breakfast burrito and they said it would Be out in 2 mins. Tasty coffee but wait time was unacceptable though. The two of us visited on a Sunday at around 10:30am. 10 minutes to merely get to the front of the line to order a cup of coffee is absurd. If every other coffee place can take an order within a minute or two, Philz can make it work too. The drinks seem to be made with great care and attention, but it's not worth waiting around for 10-20 minutes to receive a cup of coffee. The drink itself, the Mint Mojito, was really tasty. Milky and minty and delightful. After about half of the cup, it felt too sugary, and there was some flavor fatigue. The sugar later made my stomach ache. Almond Croissant was tasty after heated up. Tasted exactly like almond and was fluffy. I'd order the Mint Mojito (in the smallest size) and the Almond Croissant again, and seriously adjust my expectations for the wait time. read more

I've been a fan of Philz for YEARS. When i had my 2nd child, the routine was for me to come home from work, grab my wife & kid, and head over to Philz. If i could count how much i've spend here over the years, i'd probably be driving a nice Porsche by now. That said, here we go... Philz Cupertino is great. The parking, can be a bear, but if you go early like i do, it's usually front row. The staff has always been friendly- even when it's crazy busy. The key is to order online from the Philz App. The coffee is always consistently good (Jacobs Wunderbar & Tesora for the win). If you aren't satisfied, just tell the barista and they will whip you up a new cup (I've only had to do that once, bc they put cream in my coffee when i take it black). They have a decent selection of pastries and warm breakfast food (@Philz- Bring back the avocado toast!). Otherwise you can grab some pastries up the plaza from 85 degrees (See my review on them as well). There is seating in the inside, but if you get there at the right time, you can sit facing the gras quad, and watch kids or dogs play. The Mint Mojito is great on a hot afternoon (rich and creamy) as well as the Gingerbread snap (Both served cold). If you drink Philz coffee, you probably won't go back to the other chain coffee shops. As a side note, i've been to almost every philz from here to San Diego, so yes it's that good.... read more

My go-to coffee shop back when I used to attend DeAnza. With great and quick service, Philz never fails to disappoint. Though it may get crowded, time-to-time, the flow of the lines never stop. The ordering is as follows: Wait in line, tell them what you want, and tell the cashier what you ordered, pay. They'll call you when your drink is ready Personally I enjoy their mint mojito, creamy and sweet because it's somewhat refreshing. When I saw Philz on a shopping mall island on Stevens Creek Blvd. in Cupertino, I was momentarily thrilled, but it was followed by a reluctant sigh. I am a Philz aficionado from way back and could trust their one-ups at any of their locations in San Francisco. Then I walked by the Philz in the Gourmet Ghetto in Berkeley and thought to myself, well, that probably makes sense if they are testing the waters for limited expansion. But now that Philz has invaded the South Bay, I can't help but think of Peet's. I thought of them as the gold standard once but once they went the La Boulangerie route of multiplying basically anywhere, the taste of their coffee started to tarnish on my tongue. I'm just worried that Philz may be destined for the same fate in their business expansion plan since I had a rare mixed experience at this particular store. Attempting to order my favorite coffee flavor, I went up to the barista and requested a $4.50 Large Silken Splendor light-light. No eye contact, just a shrug and a less-than-committed affirmation of my order. I went over and paid, and when the barista shouted out my order (no names asked), I picked it up and parked myself in a table toward the back. It had a slightly burnt taste, so odd for Philz and quite off when I compare the cup to other cups I've had. There was no sugar (which was probably just as well) and too much milk for "light". Before you ask me, "Why didn't you just return it, Ed U."?", let me tell you that the line was almost out the door and that I only had three minutes before picking up my dad for lunch. Weeks later, I came back and ordered the $4.50 Large Herbal Mint Tea with nothing added (photo: http://bit.ly/2uQ7E6L). That was fine, no fuss, no muss, though with the same lack of human interaction. I'm not sure if they're trained that way by the company or if it reflects the current state of the service workforce or if she was just having a bad morning. It was the same server both times I visited, so she may have been going for a world record on maintaining her bad mood. I'll try to be more cheery next time I come in here. I'm sure that'll turn that frown upside down. Uh-huh. It all started here. My first cup of Philz coffee here and now I'm a believer. I've never understood mint mojito coffee, and to date, I still don't. However, my friend told me about the ice sweet n creamy coffee so my interest was piqued. The place was spacious and the staff was very friendly! I told the barista that it was my first time at Philz so he gave me his recommendation based on my preference, so I went with the most popular Tesora ice coffee in sweet & creamy. Philz coffee is absolutely one of my favorite coffee shop chains! It's a plus that this delicious brewing coffee chain also originated here in the Bay! Since I live in SJ the closest location that I frequent the most is the one in downtown. But I was in the area and was in desperate need of caffeine. So as soon as I saw there was a Philz just miles aways I ended my search and drove straight here. I was greeted with a short a line and a friendly barista! I had not had a mint mojito in ages so I ordered one. I asked for a sweet and creamy ice mint mojito and I was presented with exactly that. My drink was crafted to perfection! There wasn't to much fresh mint like most do, but still had the perfect hint of mint that I was hoping for. It was actually the best mint mojito I had from any Philz, shame I missed the baristas name. This Philz location has the perfect ambiance to stay and get work done that I even wanted to go back to my car and get my laptop, unfortunately I was in a rush. Maybe next time when I'm in the are. Summary: "One cup at a time" coffee service means better coffee, more tailored to your taste, but more expensive and longer waits. Totally worth it. Details: Philz is practically an empire now. OK maybe not like that Seattle chain but there are 15 Philz in San Francisco and 10+ in the South Bay/Peninsula. You can also find a few of them in SoCal and Washington DC. I've tried a few locations and the coffee experience is nearly the same. Your first decision is to choose your blend (darker, medium, lighter). Oh, or decaf -- but why? If you don't know much about coffee, the designation is about the roasting not the amount of caffeine. Over simplified, light roasts keep most of the original coffee characteristics while with dark roast you're tasting the roast itself. Many claim this gives the drink more "body". Confused, go for medium as it's a good balance. All five medium blends are worth trying but you should probably start with Philharmonic or Philtered Soul - as I recall, these are the best sellers. Now choose the amount of cream and sugar. I recommend medium cream and light sweet, although you should probably start light/light and they will adjust it to your taste. If you're in the mood for an iced drink, the mint mojito lives up to the hype. Another winner is the iced ecstatic made half caf/half decaf. For an indulgence, try the mocha tesora. The iced ginger snap is ok but not nearly as good as the others. One warning: this specific Cupertino location is laid out in a confusing manner. On your first visit, it's tough to know where to stand to order and where to stand to pay. read more

I love the Minto Mojito at Philz Coffee, however, the Philz Coffee at this location is probably the worst one that I have been to and I have been to a lot of different locations throughout the Bay Area. Somehow... my mint mojito is always off! Either it is not sweet and creamy at all! Or it tastes like water. I have never had a decent cup of Mint Mojito here before. However, I still keep coming back and why do you ask? I really like to come here to work/study because it's not as busy as the other locations so it is much easier for me to find a table. Although, I am starting to see a connection here. I love Philz but definitely, not the one at this location. There is something wrong here. They are never consistent with how they make their drinks (at least when making my drink). I found a new place to study so I don't think I will be coming back here for a while. read more
