We've come here for many years now, after an old Alibi review steered us here. It is still our overall favorite among the tons of Vietnamese choices in Albuquerque. The family is quite friendly, and we are happy to see that word has spread and the place has more business. The pho is exceptional, as is the bahn hoi, spring rolls, and avocado shakes. Everything here just has that extra effort, that extra attention that you can taste. Like the bountiful garnish plates that have both mint and basil, or the extra lettuce wraps they give you for bahn hoi. Plus, it's as cheap as any Vietnamese in town. The two of us can get two entrees, an app, and two drinks for under $30. Some other places we like are Que Huong, Pho Linh, Saigon Restaurant, and The sandwiches at Bahn Mi Coda. read more

Phö doesn't taste good, I usually go to Phö Linh but they're closed on mondays so I decided to try Phö #1 and I was very disappointed. They provided me with a lot of broth and not enough noodles and it was already seasoned with some kind of red sauce which I did not like at all. Overall it wasn't worth my time or drive. read more

Came here 2 days in a row on a road trip through ABQ. Everything was good. Had the steamed vermicelli with mixed grill items, pho, avocado shake and a couple of other things. Lots of fresh herbs - vietnamese basil, mint, shiso made me happy. Salty plum drink was a little too weak. Great service! read more

I went here based on the yelp reviews. While it is good, and I will be back - it is not a 5 star. It's somewhere between a 3 and 4, I rated it a 4 star since the prices are so reasonable. The establishment is an authentic, family run affair. The atmosphere is nice. Happy Pho Year's to all! This was our New Year's Eve meal after a long, icy drive from Kingman, AZ. What could be better than a steamy, fragrant bowl of pho on a frigid night? The food at Pho #1 was very good, with fresh ingredients and a very friendly family staff. We were seated by one son, a dad or uncle took our order, and the lady of the house took care of most everything else. She was attentive to all the tables, and made sure everyone had what they needed. It's nice to see proprietors who seem to really care that their patrons are having a good experience. We both had pho. We found the broth to be about as good as it gets and the meat not too dry or tough. The portion was perfect as well. read more

Pho#1 offers some great spring rolls and pretty tasty Pho I got the combo Pho which was pretty good and like all the other places the portions are huge. The only real downfall to this place was seeing cockroaches run across the floor really grossed me out. read more

Pretty good pho for being the middle of nowhere. The noodles needed to be cooked a tad longer but the broth was excellent.

So comforting to walk in those doors and be hit with that smell. Pho. It's awesome and this family will blow your taste buds out of the water. The owner is so nice and she always adores my children. Fast and friendly. Very clean and I think it's the cheapest meal around. The spring rolls, egg Foo young and any of the pho are what I suggest. Yum! I've had seafood pho and rare beef pho here. The broth is richly flavored in both and the fillings (not just the noodles) are very generous. Very good pork and spring rolls, freshly prepared. The eggrolls have delicious sausage in them, another winner. And the vermicelli patties with pork and shrimp are addictive, make sure you douse the dish in the sauce that comes with it. You're not going here for the atmosphere, but the parking is easy and the service is prompt. If you like Vietnamese, this is the place to go. read more

It's Monday which means it's Phonday! Phonday is a tradition that some coworkers and I started. By the end of the summer, we hope to have sampled a variety of Vietnamese restaurants here in Albuquerque. Anyway, Pho #1 was the first place we went to. I would actually give the pho four stars, since it's pretty tasty. It's the ambiance and location that made me settle for three--there are simply better options out there. The broth was quite flavorful, contrary to what another reviewer said. I didn't even add that much hoisin or chili sauce to it and I still thought it was good. Three of us got the pho tai (rare beef), while one got the pho ga (chicken). The chicken did not seem to be on par with the beef, so when in doubt, go with the beef. read more

Good Pho and spring rolls for lunch in my standard, however the soup broth did not impress my wife's taste buds. Clean, friendly services and economic. I gave this 2 stars instead of 1 ONLY because the pho was decent. Everything else on the menu is pre-packaged, processed, deep fried garbage soaked in generic high fructose corn syrup sauce. Bleh. Despite the Pho being decent, there is definitely better Pho in Albuquerque. read more

I was craving for pho and this place didn't hit the spot. I stopped by last night to get some pho since it was rainy and cold in New Mexico. The soup didn't have much flavor to it. I came here for lunch and got the veggie pho or noodle soup as it's not really pho without the beef broth. I asked for it to be spicy as it didn't have a spicy "*" next to it and they didn't disappoint! The soup and the fixings were amazing and after slurping away for at least 20 minutes, I was full and had to go...there was still plenty of soup left and I asked for a "to-go" box and after I wrestled the soup, noodles, and fixings in the big Styrofoam cup, it was nearly full. Our lovely waitress brought over a plastic bag and tied it up perfectly so as to make it easy to carry and to help prevent spills...so thoughtful! The veggies make this soup the winner as they were so generous with them, to think, I was worried it would just be a bunch of noodles. There was tofu too, but not too much. Pho #1 is by far the best Pho restaurant in town. Whenever I visit I usually just order a combination Pho and spring rolls. I've never been disappointed with my experience there. Also, the service is exceptional: all of the servers are prompt and courteous. Even if you live in the Heights or on the West Side, a special visit is more than worth the trip. read more

The food is excellent I had a giant bowl of beef and tendon soup which was fantastic. The spring rolls were wonderful and best of all (for me) it is a family establishment, and my three year old daughter was more than welcome to join the owners little boys watch a movie while we ate. The pho at this place is legit! I ordered the wonton egg noodle soup with barbeque pork, and it was delicious! I ordered the soup in size small, which was $6.50, and it filled me up pretty good. The server was also really friendly, and the food came to the table promptly. I'm not sure how the other plates are, but the noodle soup is definitely worth the trip. Absolutely love Pho#1. My husband and I have tried every Vietnamese restaurant in Albuquerque and we always seem to go back to this place because it always tastes so good. They put a lot of meat and vegetables in their dishes and the food always comes out very quickly. The soup is also light which was a big one for me as Ive found other broths incredibly oily. I am having a really hard time finding great pho in New Mexico. There is good pho, okay pho and not so great pho. Pho #1 falls into that last category. After having read some positive reviews my wife and I decided to give it a shot. Let me state, the people who work there are some of the nicest around and that is why they are getting 2 stars instead of 1. That said, the appetizer we ordered was suggested by our server, egg rolls. Normally, I wouldn't order egg rolls at a Vietnamese restaurant but he said they were great. They weren't. They tasted like something purchased and heated up in a gas station microwave. If I was still in college and hung over they'd be barely edible. On to the pho. Many people on Yelp state that their pho has no flavor. It's true. Zero flavor. It is as if they don't use any star anise or ginger. It is like a watered down broth with some hints of beef flavor. I ordered #37 because I love tripe, flank, tendon and meatballs. I asked the server if there is a lot of meat and he told me there was in #37. Nope. Wrong. Fail. A few thin pieces of tripe, a few over cooked pieces of flank, 1 small meatball cut in half and they completely forgot to add the tendon. When I asked for the tendon they forgot I received a side bowl with ONE small piece of tendon. My wife's pho was equally as boring and devoid of meat. Oh and they don't give much in terms of greens for the pho. In fact, they only gave us a few strands of basil which was brown along the edges and some bean sprouts that were slimy. Totally depressing meal. I won't be back and if I was you I'd chance my meal elsewhere. The people who work here are indeed friendly but tho food is a sad wreck. read more

I love Veitnamese food, especially Pho. It has become a comfort food for me. I love this place they have the most wonderful service from the time you walk in until you leave. They are so nice and very attentive. I have always eaten the pho here. My order is usually the spring rolls as an appetizer followed by an order of pho, usually the combination order. The spring rolls are light and fresh and I love the flavor from the mint. The broth is flavored so perfectly. It is one of my favorite places to visit in Albuquerque. I have enjoyed the other things that I have tried, but, for me, it's the pho that really makes this place. I highly recommend it. The service is great and the portions are perfect! I was in ABQ on business and wanted pho. My usual spot is closed on Tuesdays so I decided to give Pho #1 a try. I went safe and got rare ribeye and well done brisket pho and spring rolls. The spring rolls were just like any other, but the pho was amazing. My favorite part about the whole meal was that the broth came separate from the other ingredients in the pho. So I was able to cook the ribeye in the broth just as it was intended. My take-out really offered a dine-in experience. Next time I will go more adventurous. read more
