My favorite place to get Pho! So so delicious! The bubble tea is amazing as well. I could eat here every night!

I so wanted to like this place! We love to support local businesses and it would have been nice to find authentic Vietnamese food close to home. Unfortunately, all of the soups have MSG and a ton of sugar, and the stir fry dishes are all loaded with sugar as well. When asked if they could just make something without it being so sweet, they said no, because all of the sauces are pre made---and not by them! So God knows what is in them, besides the glaring abundance of sugar. Too bad! read more

I came here with a friend for dinner, and I had ordered the banh xeo. I had asked for no onions, and when my order came, there were onions. I'm not that picky of an eater, so I decided to not mention it. When my friend realized my food had onions, she hailed down the waitress and told her I had asked for no onions. She asked: "Do you want us to make another one?" Again, being not picky, I said "no, no it's fine" and I asked her to pack up my dinner. Wanting some pho for the next day, I ordered take-out. When they were bringing out my food, they told me that the owner of the store had made me a new one! I wasn't expecting this. The customer service was excellent! On top of that, the banh xeo was delicious too! Now onto my take-out experience. Granted, I ate my food about 2 days after I bought it, the noodles were all stuck together and wouldn't separate when I was heating up my food. Overall, it's not the best Vietnamese food I've had, but for the excellent customer service, they deserve a 4 star! read more

Ate here today. Tried the chao tom (shrimp wrapped around sugar cane), the pho dac biet and a bite of my boyfriend's barbecue pork sandwich. Everything was tasty and fresh and came out quickly, even though it was pretty busy and there was only one woman working in the front of house. I definitely want to go back soon! I'm not impressed by this place at all. I came on a cold and rainy evening and had to be queue in a waiting line. The interior is VERY small and can't accommodate very much customers. I got the Pho and my parents got the Bun Thit Nuong. I wasn't very impressed with the Pho as the flavor wasn't all there. I also tried some of the Bun Thit Nuong and that wasn't good as well. The fish sauce for the Bun Thit Nuong was very bland and it just ruined the meal with crappy fish sauce. This restaurant seems to be a mix of Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. Usually in my own personal experience, a fusion of cuisine like this is usually not very good. In this case, it wasn't good. read more

I have read some other reviews and I must say I don't agree. The staff there is always friendly and the quality of food has not changed, granted I get the same thing every time, I don't think I even need to tell them what I want, they just know. The only thing I have noticed, the portions are a bit smaller, but I am soooo hooked on their Gra Prow chicken. read more

Atmosphere - Since I last reviewed they have done some work on this place and it is looking nice. They have patched and painted the walls and have some nicer decor going on. They have reorganized the tables, so even while it is a small place it seems a bit more spacious. It feels a lot better since they have made the improvements. Service - The staff was very polite and prompt in taking our orders. They were friendly and made sure we had what we needed. The only thing that bothered me was that when it slowed down a server sat at one of the small tables and was watching a soccer game on the tv, which is in poor form. Taste - I ordered the Dac Biet (pho with the works). The pho was delicious. I really enjoyed the flavor and can't complain about that at all. It was comparable to other Vietnamese restaurants I have gone to over the years. The only thing I wish they had done was given me more of the nasty bits (tendon and tripe); these are the things I love most and I only had one piece of tendon and a couple of strips of tripe. They had a nice taste to them, but there was too little. Will I go back? Definitely. It is very close to work and the food does taste good. Would I go here for a quiet evening with friends or family? No. For me, this is a great lunch spot, but it still has some rough edges that need to be polished. read more

A hidden gem in Waltham, which stands out from the hodgepodge of options on Moody Street. This isn't the type of place that you'd ever want to take anyone on a first date as the ambiance is severely lacking. Plus I'm not sure they serve alcohol, which is the only way to survive a first date. I'm getting sidetracked. What is great about this place is the food. As others have mentioned, the pho is simply amazing. It comes in three sizes - Large, Really Large, and OMG Large. While the temptation is to just order the largest bowl because it's only $2 more you are putting yourself at risk. You will either not be able to finish or the more likely scenario is that you do finish and wish you hadn't. read more

My friend Allie and I were thinking, and thinking, of good eats ideas earlier this afternoon in Waltham. We ran through Italian, Indian, Japanese, and then thought, "Why not Vietnamese?!" Within a few blocks of Allie's apartment, there lay Pho & Spice. A rather unassuming front but with a bright interior and very punctual service, the food at Pho & Spice not only avoids disappointment. It also opens up your palate to an exciting range of taste possibilities on a Vietnamese menu! While they serve fully-loaded entrees, soups, and more, their specialty seems to be with pho (Vietnamese noodle soup). Massive bowls are complete with uber-fresh ingredients of Mung bean sprouts, lime wedges, basil leaves, and more. Their roasted duck pho further offered the most tender duck slices, some dripping off the bone within a broth smooth and sumptuous, not too salty. I'd be only curious to check back and see what else is on their menu...! read more

I discovered Pho and Spice in November 2013 and was a regular lunch customer. I brought a lot of friends and family here as I liked the atmosphere of Thai food and premiership futbol. The last and final time I ate there was a few days before New Year's Eve with my 7 year old daughter, The female waitress was so unforgivably mean and rude to my daughter (for spilling her drink) I will never return. I hope the owner of Pho and Spice takes a long hard look at the waitstaff he has working for him, they will soon put you out of business. read more

Before I started writing this review I observed the previous ones, and was surprised that somebody else also came across with the situation I did. So, this place was recommended by friends and was really happy to follow their recommendations. But, once I put my spoon inside the soup bowl I realized something was wrong. I saw the peace of cracked plastic. This killed the wish to continue eating my meal there. I am so disappointed. I even can not say a word about taste can not estimate it. The Good: --Pho was great. I got the vegetarian one, and it had lots of bright vegetables in it. It was so pretty that the guy at the next table asked which dish it was (he seemed awfully disappointed that it was vegetarian...sorry that vegetarian food is awesome, dude). Husband got a wonton pho and chicken wings. Both looked very tasty. The food all looks like it does in the pictures, which, thankfully, are not the usual scary pictures of Asian food you see at cheap Chinese restaurants. --Limeade was very tart and delicious. I know they used 7-Up in it, but they worked magic with that 7-Up. The Bad: --Decor and seating leave a lot to be desired. The walls are completely bare and the tables are the same ones you see at cheap pizza places. Hopefully this will improve as they settle in. Seating is also limited--by the time we left, there was a wait to sit. --Severe understaffing. One waitress served the whole restaurant, took orders at the front counter, and answered the phone. I felt terrible for her. She was very sweet and did a great job of managing what she could, but it was way too much work for one person. By the time we left, there was an hour wait for take-out. This is really a three-and-a-half star place, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. read more

Sigh... I hate to have to knock another star, but it is necessary. First, on a positive note - they have rearranged the location ina way that is much more inviting than it was before. The take out/cashier area is now more separated from the dining area. However, in the last year I've seen a slow decline in quality of food and service. Service was always somewhat hit or miss here, but that is not unusual for locations that juggle a primarily take-out oriented business with dine in. But lately it's been really bad. The last two time I've ordered on foodler, received a confirmation, and gone over after half an hour. Both times I was told they never got the order. I showed them the confirmation on my phone and explained that it was accepted by them. After ten minutes of shuffling around, they confirm they did get my order(s) and my food is ready. Hmm. Other times, I'll have to wait 10-15 minutes on top of the half hour I waited before heading over for my food to be ready. That's understandable if they are busy, but often when this happens the dining area is empty/slow. The food is still delicious, but they have cut back the portion sizes. One of my favorite things about this place was how generous the portion size was. Sometimes money is tight and I need to make take out meals 2 meals instead of one. Now that they are smaller, I can't go here as often. I wouldn't mind as much except that the prices are the same, but the portion difference is significant. read more

I guess this place has died down since a few months ago. When we went during dinner time, there were only 2 tables filled and two customers waiting for takeout. We ordered and didn't wait long for the food to arrive. Everything tasted good. In terms of food, it would have gotten five stars from me. I'm taking away one star because the service was ho-hum. No checking to see if everything's okay. We had to get them to have extra utensils when my friends arrived. There were literally five customers, and they didn't realize someone just walked in. Their soup is excellent. For most food, though, if you want a dose of MSG and no cooperation from ownership / management, this is the place. Food tastes good, but then the MSG headache sets in twenty minutes later. Wake up with super dry tongue from all of their chemicals, er their "spice". Go to Tree Top in Waltham if you want Thai food that is fresh without MSG. read more

I had the bun bo hue and the chicken satay. I've ordered delivery from here before but I think the food when you sit in is a bit better. The chicken satay was four pieces, each on a skewer and came with both peanut sauce and what looked like nuoc mam (which is a kind of fish sauce) with spices in it. It was pretty good. The bun bo hue was pretty decent, but if you're familiar with Vietnamese food at all, you'll notice that they don't use the correct noodles, opting for pho noodles instead (presumably to cut costs). That was a bit of a disappointment to me, but I imagine to the majority of people who eat here, they won't even notice (I guess I should have expected it when I saw it listed under the pho section). Tasted decent either way, and came with a wedge of lime, mung beans, and basil, as you would expect. They had sriracha and hoison sauce on the table, but I would only ever put that in pho. It's there if you wan it! The waitress was nice and checked in on me twice. Not terrible, not amazing service, which is really all you can ask for, especially at dinner time on a Friday night when it's raining outside. I'd eat here again, although I did wish they had other noodle soups besides (mostly) pho, bun bo hue, mi hoanh thanh, and canh chua. read more

I really like this place. Their food is good and reliable. My biggest complaints are the seating (its slim to nil) and the hours. They don't open until 11am, by which time they already have a lunch line most days. This isn't a problem most places as you can wait or take your food to go, but pho doesn't travel well when you drive somewhere, pay to park, and then walk in only to find out there is no seating. If you have a party larger than four, forget it. The pho is good and their other dishes give you good portions for a great price. I just wish they had more seating. read more

A small little place on Moody street. Perfect for a quick bite and NOT for large group. Tried their lunch menu and comes with a soup,spring roll and a gravy+rice. It was sufficient if you are little hungry and dont want to fill yourself up. But, if you are super hungry, that clearly wont be enough for you. Food was tasty, but the soup with sea weed tasted a little funny. A little more pungent that I am used to. But was ok. I might come here and give their Pho a try. read more

The food is so good. My favorites are the summer rolls, basil fried rice (Thai spices on side!), and Vietnamese iced coffee. It's definitely the most attended Waltham restaurant for me. When I have the craving for spicy and Asian, I stop by here! Service is great as well. Sometimes they have a hard time understanding me. My husband and I came here in hopes of eating good pho. The broth and noodles were good. However, there was hardly any meat in any of our phos. I only had four piece of raw flank and only a hint of tripe. I did ask for no well-done meat, but still I expected more than 4 pieces of meat. My husband had 2 pieces of shrimp and 3 pieces of chicken which relative to the size of the bowl was very small. The tofu delight was good. The shrimp rolls was disappointing for the price. The service was friendly, but the food came out very slowly. We ordered 2 apps, but it shouldn't have taken 30 minutes for both of them to show up. read more

Never ate here when I was in college in Waltham, but finally went here twice in the past year. Their Pho Tai is pretty decent. Le's in Harvard Sq is slightly better, but too hard to get to oftentimes due to limited free parking options. Apparently, according to some of my friends, Pho & Spice's boba teas are good, too. I would have passed over this place based on what I consider a low Yelp rating: fewer than 4 stars. Luckily, a trusted foodie friend suggested this place for a Saturday afternoon meal. So my experiences went something like this: Sure, the restaurant was tiny and the service slow, and the staff certainly didn't seem organized. They tried to skimp on the bean sprouts and lime, but after asking for more - they delivered in a timely manner. When it comes to Vietnamese food, I don't give a shit about any of that. What I do care about is that the Pho was delicious, the Vietnamese fried rice delightful, and the coffee with condensed milk was spot on. I'll go again, and if they improve service, I'll increase my rating. read more

Being a college student in Weston, I'm always looking for my quick fix of Pho in the area. The first time I visited it was my friend and I, and our checks came out fine and the pho was good (for a Vietnamese/Thai restaurant & since I'm vietnamese). Since we had such a pleasant time our first, we expected our second time to be as pleasant. This time around we went in a group of seven. They have a sign on the wall to tell them that we all wanted a separate check, but since their foodler orders had their card machine working overtime they could only split our bill into three checks? And we had to calculate it among ourself, who could use their card and who had enough cash to pay; it made our experience there even worst. I ordered the thai tea slush and the pik pow fried rice, it was mediocre. I also had a bite of my friend's orange chicken which was mostly batter, and their mango smoothies that tasted like straight up powder. I regretted not sticking to pho that night, but after that experience at Pho & Spice. I've considered moving it down on my lists of go to places. read more

I do not like the idea of signing a tablet rather than getting a paper receipt. We asked several times to make the food very hot and spicy. It was closer to being sweet. Great local Vietnamese and Thai restaurant especially in an area where there is a predominate Asian community. We had the the panang curry chicken and pho Thai with beef. Food was excellent and super tasty. Big portions of food. Great bang for your buck. Also go the frozen Taro bubble tea which was so tasty and great to have to balance the spiciness. Only downside for some people is no booze is served but didn't matter to me since I'm pregnant. read more

Pho & Spice opened a week or so ago. I have lived just off Moody St. for almost 6 years now, and have tried nearly every restaurant on it. I tried their Pik King and Lemongrass stir fries. The Pik King is seriously one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life. The kaffir lime leave slices on top I think were a huge portion of it, but the entire flavor was amazing. The lemongrass was also good, though not on the same level as the Pik King. I will be going back there for sure and I would say this is one of the top restaurants in Waltham. New Note: I have gone back twice now for the Pik King since the first time. The 2nd time I got it, they seemed to have forgotten the kaffir lime leaves; so it was not as good as the 1st time. The 3rd time (last night), the lime leaves were back, but the taste and color was different (less red, more brown). So while each time was good, each time was different. This makes it interesting, and I wonder how it will be next time, but I can't keep my rating at 5 stars due to lack of consistency. So I'm lowering it to 4. I still highly recommend this place. read more

I ordered from Pho & Spice off of Foodler last night and the food arrived before they said it would, was piping hot, and what they delivered was what I ordered. The food actually arrived before I got home from work (I was planning ahead) and the driver was very friendly and understanding when I asked him to please leave the bag in the corner of my porch - points for that. I am by no means an authority on Vietnamese or Thai food, but what I had was delicious. I got the Spicy Crab Rangoon, Chicken Satay Skewers, and Spicy Basil Pad Thai with chicken. Yum! The Pad Thai was (as advertised) spicy! I will definitely be ordering from here again and maybe next time I'll be more adventurous. read more

Being just on the outskirts of Boston/Cambridge, it can be hard to find ethnic food of good quality. The closest Thai/Viet is Pho and Thai in Belmont, but it's either a hit or miss with them. Their staff is not friendly and their delivery take hours. Not to mention, their food is just ok. With that being said, I had a great experience with Pho & Spice. Their food is decent. I recommend the Tom Yum soup and Country Pad Thai. Their delivery is speedy. They quoted me at a 45 minute wait and the were there within 30. Such a huge difference from their competitor which is only a mile away from me. I found my new Thai/Viet place :-) read more
