Combo pork, egg roll, shrimp Vermicelli

We have not had the opportunity to visit Anh Dao in many years it used to be one of our favorite Pho places. Today We had the Seafood combo Pho and the Vermicelli combo. The seafood Pho broth was not as flavorful as it could have been. Perhaps a bit more fish sauce which wasn't on the table to add. Decent amount of shrimp and seafood. The combo vermicelli was good. Portions were plentiful. The restaurant was clean and service providers were very attentive.

Pho chay large with veggie broth

I ordered a pho chay large with veggie broth for takeout, which was pretty reasonably priced, and was ready for pick up on time. They have the vegetables and tofu, noodles, and broth separately packaged so that you can put it together when you're ready and to avoid it getting soggy. I thought it was pretty good, the flavor was refreshing and not super strong but also not bland. Definitely felt nutritious and I'm glad they have a vegetarian pho. They are located very close to Lake Merritt as well.

Good price, nice options, and great food. Let's just say I would order from here again, I've ordered from all the other pho places on Door Dash and this one for some reason stands out to me a bit more than the rest. Ask for hot oil with your food. I ordered fresh spring rolls, which was fresh and the sauce was the one that made it amazing. At the other places, I usually get a pretty bland/ mediocre peanut sauce. Or their rice paper will be a little tough and/or there will be toouch veggies or noodle. Pho Dac Biet - flavorful broth, not cinnamon-y or like star anise, it was just right. Banh mi bo nuong - juicy and tender beef and balanced ingredients, not a dry banh mi. Thai iced ice - not too sweet, perfect actually and I love that I can taste the strong t0ea. Com suon heo nuong - comes with two grilled pork chops, needs more rice. I not only chose to order here because I tried all the other places around, but also because it has realistic prices on Door dash, I've seen places that charges $19 for pho, that's ridiculous. :(

This is an OG spot in my neighborhood! The food and service are solid, so I see why they've been a food staple since I started living in Oakland a decade ago. The food is good! The space is clean! The service is even better. You can't go wrong here! Stuff is affordable!

Ordered the extra large pho dac biet, the flavors of everything was great. The spring shrimp roll was super delicious, fresh and tasty! I love spring rolls, not the fried stuff. Fresh veggies, fresh ingredients and the peanut sauce was so freaking delicious! The beef pho was also great but the portions weren't that big. I got the extra large, but it seemed like a regular.

For so long I've meant to patronize this business and finally, after discovering bahn mi sandwiches on the menu for a mere $8-9, I tried it. The inside is simple and clean. Once seated, about five minutes is given until they approach you to take the order. I've been here twice now. Both times I got a bahn mi (chicken and pork) plus a Thai Iced Tea. $14 and change! The sandwiches are good and the meat tastes fresh. This is now my bahn mi place in Oakland. Cash only.

I had to dash off to get a curbside pickup at a local store so I figured why not take the opportunity and get some takeout for lunch. Every trip out of the house these days is like an adventure. And it gave me great pleasure to anticipate writing a review of a new restaurant for me, and supporting a local business. Unfortunately all my usual restaurant favorites were closed on Tuesdays and I was, in particular, wanting something warm and comforting on a cold fall day. Somehow Pho seemed to fit the desire. Since I was going through this part of the 'hood' for my curbside pickup I decided to give it a try. I had passed it countless times and wondered if it was any good, as it appeared long established at this location. Finding a web site I found I could order online and get a time for pickup and everything done easily. BINGO! I like that convenience these days... so I put in an order and it promptly confirmed a 15 minute pickup time. I got to the restaurant and sure enough it was ready, as they had even texted me to let me know. Great. Service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant seemed super clean and although I am reticent to enter anywhere these days I didn't feel uncomfortable. There were few patrons at a couple of tables as indoor dining is allowed now, but very sparse for lunch. They packaged everything very well for travel and I was really pleased as sometimes with takeout orders it spills and tumbles around if not firmly packed. I got the Bun Bo Hue, a spicy noodle soup/pho with beef and lots of extras, veggies and herbs, bean sprouts and the usual toppings. It was delicious and definitely hit the spot! Yum! The broth was competent and smooth with just enough spiciness. The beef was super tender and perfectly prepared. There was plenty for two meals. My spouse got the Com Ga Nuong, a barbeque chicken and rice dish with vegetables/salad. It, too, was perfectly prepared and delicious and the portion also large enough for two meals. We also got the spring rolls with a peanut dipping sauce. The ingredients were fresh and the lettuce crunchy, but the only downside was that some of the rice paper wrapping was rubbery and overly chewy. Prices are very good and I'll gladly return for either more comfort warmth of pho, or try something else. Glad this place finally fell on my radar.

Delicious pho, and the only place around that does their own veggie broth. Reasonable prices. Understated ambiance.

The beef pho was ok. The broth was on the sweet side. The sticky rice (zoi man) was fantastic though. The entree didn't look too big, but it was quite filling. Service was quick. Overall, I'm glad I found this place!

This is already on my top five list in a single visit. Went for the basics: beef pho, and salad roll with tofu. I was initially put off by the short menu and few options to add toppings (I didn't see any tendon or tripe for example), and worried it would be too bland or too sweet--but it was not. The broth was deeply flavorful and more savory. Meats were generous and meatballs were exceptional, maybe the best I've had. The basil and sprouts were garden fresh, and unusually, the rice noodles were exceptional, not at all soft or pressed together. I could genuinely taste the love here. It extended to the salad rolls which were generously portioned and used lightly fried tofu which I prefer. One additional note about the broth. It's a richer style than I normally like so I couldn't drink it to the last drop, but I can't fault its great flavor. The service was above average, with a spirited vibe. Loved everything, will be back to try more on the menu.

I brought my friend for her to try a new viet spot since she typically only goes to one spot and she absolutely loved it! Our favorite was the Banh Khot which are mini crispy pancakes with shrimp. I was not expecting it at all. They definitely do not joke about their servings. My friend got the Bun Bo Hue, lemongrass beef soup, which was better than other ones I've had in Downtown Oakland but not as lemongrassy as I like. The restaurant itself is fairly sizeable but there were only about 3 fully seated tables. There was only one server at the time and service was a bit slow, but understandable.

We ordered the tofu bahn mi, tofu, veggies and mushroom vermicelli and Vietnamese pancake with shrimp. They were all amazing. My fiancé had the vermicelli bowl which he said was pretty good with all the stirred fried tofu, veggies and mushrooms. What was surprising the most was the Vietnamese pancake. It was so good that I would come back for just this appetizer. It has a crunchy texture on the outside, but the inside was so creamy. Wrap that with a lettuce and dip in the fish sauce and wow! My mouth was happy. Service here is top notch! The server was super attentive and he knew just when we needed more napkins and more water. Would definitely recommend and will be back soon for those pancake!

Yes, I tried it over a dozen years ago and have little recollection of my dining experience (review: https://yelp.to/8rBLt3xnAB). Probably just as well because this was our first time at this location. We came on a Saturday afternoon looking for a late lunch. It was a nice space with interesting decorating touches like a collage of vintage photos and magazine clippings in a ribbon-like pattern on the gray wall (Photo 6). The place was almost empty, which allowed us to take the corner table next to the window. The menu looked like a slightly upmarket take on Vietnamese fare. We decided to share a couple of dishes since we had tentative dinner plans later. We ordered the $17 Shrimp Papaya Salad, a decent enough mix of green papaya and carrots in decorative latticed slices, crispy allium, herbs, and six poached shrimp, drenched in a spicy fish sauce vinaigrette and topped with peanuts and Thai basil (Photo 9). Tasty but a bit bland and wet. We then shared the $25 Fried Chicken characterized as chicken tempura, but the execution was lacking. It consisted of slices of thigh meat covered in a rather moist coating. There was fermented soy aioli and a side of pickled daikon, carrot and cabbage slaw in miso soy dressing (Photo 10). Even though the thigh meat was welcome, the dish didn't quite hang together. At the same time, the ingredients were fresh, and frankly other menu options might've improved our satisfaction.
