This morning we were craving pho so we decided to go to our go-to spot. We were the first ones here and of course we got the special pho dac biet and special pho bistro with the rib bone. We were greeted right away and serviced by van. She was very funny and nice, she made a joke that she had no 7-Up, but they only had 8-up as she was making a dad joke that we didn't understand but it was just funny because she was trying really hard. I told her that they have really good yelp reviews, she acKnowledge their high ratings and encouraged us to add a review based off our experience. The food was good as usual. It definitely hit the spot and I will keep coming back here. The customer service is exceptional as usual and this is still my number one go-to for pho. read more

First time and won't be the last. Great little spot in Elk Grove tucked away inside the strip mall. Server was great and gave our baby plastic cups n utensils without us asking. Combination rice plate was good plenty of pork very well seasoned. My only problem was the rice that it came with it was hard and tasted like it was a day old. 3 stars on the rice. Rib bone pho was great they gave me 3 bones but barely any meat on it but mostly fat. The broth was very clean and spiced right it didn't need the condiments. The bowl it self had tendon, tripe and sliced meat so it was hella meaty! A1 fried spring rolls was great filling was meaty n roll were big and couldn't finish it in on sitting. This pho restaurant in Elk Grove is really good! Their broth is super fresh, full of flavors, and really clear. Everything else, rice plates, Thai tea, egg rolls were great! The egg rolls are different, they use rice papers instead of the actual egg roll wraps which was interesting. I'd recommend everyone to give it a try. No indoors or outdoor seating due to covid, but we did take out and food was just as fresh when we got home. The facility is really clean and organized. I'd love to dine in once everything opens back up. The owners and workers are really kind what is also another great plus. Ambiance: 4/5, Great natural lighting, not too big of a dining area, therefore it feels intimate. You can definitely hear others conversations even if they don't speak loudly. A family environment. Food: 3/5, we got the P2 (Pho w/almost everything) it was decent. The broth was hot, but I needed more fish sauce or some thing it wasn't hitting the spot. We also ordered the bowl of ribs for $7.50, it was good, but at that point it was just too much meat. We also got the grilled pork and shrimp spring rolls, those were delicious and fresh. I like the grilled park inside it's a nice complement versus the usual boiled pork. Overall, I would go back again if I really wanted to watch the game and have a bowl of pho. I forgot what this used to be, but it was an old pho shop before. They have the fourth best phở bò in town. It's on the pricier side. The broth is prestine. Absolutely ok by all means, jus disappointed they made it a point to make our 4person party feel uncomfortable to rush us out instead of kindly telling us there were closing an hour early. From taking our order in an upset manner, to eye rolls, to stare down entire time we were eating, offering to go cups after 6 min of being served, to folding chairs once we sat down... Will take a hint next time, I jus really didn't think they needed to go as far as they did to drive the point home versus kindly turning us away. This place is a go-to. When I need comfort food, I'm here. If it's cold and raining, I'm here. When I'm feeling sick, I'm definitely here. The clean broth keeps me coming back. Great portion for the price since it's like $20 a bowl. Plenty of broth to take home. The service pleasant as always from the same welcoming lady. The only con was the water distribution here before but they had since changed that. Came to Pho Bistro to check it out for the first time since we're working on trying every restaurant in Elk Grove. Parking was super easy to find as it's located in a plaza with plenty of parking space. For the food, we ordered the P1, house pho with a side of rib eye and 2 beef bones on the side. They unfortunately do not offer complimentary water and it's an additional 50 cents for a bottle of water. The pho came out hot and the beef bones were kinda interesting, but we didn't think it was anything special. This is my go to spot for Hu Tieu! It's so good! I always order with fresh noodles if they have it. Best spot in Elk Grove for this 100%! I also like the cafe sua da. I can tell they use the Trung Nguyen coffee. Highly recommend this spot! read more

I came here with my parents and ordered 2 pho's and 1 hieu tieu and the chicken wings. amazing servers, but the cooks tend to stare when something goes bad. I first noticed that my water cup was dirty, white specks all over it, i didnt think too much about it. Pho - it was great broth but you can tell the noodles were not fresh or they were frozen too long.. the noodles looked cloudy instead of translucent. Hieu Tieu- the noodles were super hard, and broth was cold.. My dad usually doesn't complain about food but this time he had to ask for a side of hot soup to try to consume it.. and ever since he asked for the soup the ladies in the kitchen were coming out and staring at us in a distance to see if it was good. only good thing was the chicken wings. read more

Came here by accident. Was across the street at the Safeway center getting money from Bank of America and picking up a digital recording camera from Craigslist ad. My long-time coworker/buddy was driving his Honda Civic. We came from Old Sacramento district. So as a favor, I treated him to Pho Bistro for his gas and time. This was April 28th (Sunday) at 12:45 PM. Life is all about timing. Destiny was waiting. Didn't expect much from the small place, nestled between a haircut salon and Walgreen with countless other shops surrounding, off Laguna Blvd and Franklin Blvd. Was very surprised at the door when the place was completely packed. Had to wait 10 minutes before 2 tables cleared because there was a couple in front of us waiting as well. They only had 2 waitresses on duty, moving about like the energizer bunnies. There must've been 50 people in the place, which is half the size of any given In and Out Burger joint! When I saw how noisy and happy everyone was, I KNEW this was the bomb: The place to be to put things in my belly. My friend felt the same way. We got super over-excited. It was soooooo loud, we couldn't hear our own voice or each other, although we sat side by side. It was like a Taylor Swift concert! Total controlled chaos and loved every minute of it!!! It's required to raise one's voice to semi yelling just to hear a damn thing! Like a scene from a save-my-life dance movie: the final scene before the happy ending! Old people. Young people. Little kids. Dressed up to the nine and sweat pants folks all gathered together in the name of P-H-O, which never gest O-L-D! The two waitress were superwomen. Truly and truly. They cleared the tables immediately. Monitored us when we were ready to order, which was within 5 minutes. We both had iced Viet coffee, Pho special and shrimp spring rolls. It came out within 10 minutes. The cook is even faster than the waitress, if that's even possible. Our waitress was this super skinny model-like built from top to bottom. I ordered a Pepsi. She brought it out with a glass filled with ice! That's not normal. It's like she read my mind, as I was about to ask for a cup of ice to pour my soda. In all the places that I've ever been to, from top level restaurants to ghetto ones, no one has ever brought out a glass of ice with a Pepsi. Never. Ever. Not once. Perfection. Before the pho came out, the usual prep dish was provided: sprouts, leafy green whatever (basil leaves?) and limes. But something special was placed next to the prep dish: 2 sauce dishes for the hoisin sauce and sriracha hot sauce. This is also not common. Usually, the small sauce dish is either already placed on the table somewhere or has to be requested. I swear the restaurant, owner or waitresses read my mind. We are definitely on the same page. On the same chapter. Same sentence. Same word by word. Perfection. The pho is overwhelmingly fantastic. Plenty of meat and was boiling with flavored broth. My buddy finished his before mine, which is not normal! I always beat him at dinner. Super tasty. Super delicious. A party in our mouths. 4th of July in our bellies. Birth of a child in our hearts. When the iced Viet coffee came out, my friend also downed it like water in the desert. He wanted my portion as well! He said it was THE BEST COFFEE in his 50 years on planet earth or planet Mars. And he's the super snotty, super picky type, always criticizing and complaining about restaurants! I almost pooped in my pants in disbelief of his uncommon statement--UNTIL I tasted my portion and TOTALLY agree with him. It is THE BEST iced Viet coffee in AMERICA! As we were there for about 40 minutes enjoying the meal and talks, the line at the door kept getting longer and longer. People had to wait for tables to be cleared. This was very strange. It was a Sunday. It was around 1 PM. It was in ELK GROVE, which is a cow town. The restaurant is hidden and out of sight if you drive the speed limit. So technically, this place should be empty or hardy busy. Perception is a B in the butt. Reality beats everything. I've been to thousands of restaurants. The only ones I know that are super busy and require waiting are ONLY on busy nights (Friday/Sat) or holidays (Thanksgiving/X-mas). Very strange. It's like I died and gone to heaven. I went home and told my older sister and her husband. Now, they want to experience it for themselves! And I'm coming. This place will always be in my heart. The workers are so kind, courteous and respectful. Our entire meal only came to about $55.00. SUPER CHEAP! I felt bad, so I gave a $25 tips and my friend gave his $20 bill and he's horribly cheap. So tipping $20 for him is like giving his life savings away! That's says a lot about how he feels about Pho Bistro! Fantastic. Outstanding. read more

I've had mixed experiences at Pho Bistro. The first time I came here I thought this is one of the best, if not best, place(s) to get pho in Elk Grove now. My more recent visit was disappointing, especially after having such a great experience the first time I came. I've tried the pho with the "fresh" noodles (thicker flat noodles) the first time I went, and then tried the noodles typically served with pho on my second visit. I did find I personally prefer the typical pho noodles. The broth is great in terms of its flavor, and it also doesn't leave me with the dehydrated feeling I get after eating pho a lot of other places. I've tried both the Pho Tai (P3) and Pho Ribeye (P7). The meat in the Pho Ribeye is delicious and I greatly prefer and texture and flavor in the Pho Ribeye over the meat served with the Pho Tai. I thought that the Grilled Pork & Shrimp Spring Rolls (A4) were fine, but it doesn't have that fresh taste I associate with spring rolls. The Honey Garlic Wings (A2) were good and flavorful, and I'd order that over the spring rolls, but like the spring rolls, it's not something I need to have again. The complaint I have is that the pho broth was not hot when it was served during my second visit here, resulting in the meat taking a long time to cook. The broth was lukewarm, and I had to force myself to eat. It wasn't enjoyable at all. However, I still have my first visit fresh in my mind and am hopeful they will be able to serve pho like I had during my first visit in the future. I'll be back for more pho, but hopefully they'll be consistent in keeping their broth at a higher temperature. I don't want cold pho again! read more

Straight forward pho house, very clean and great service! I really like the P1. House pho with a side of rib eye and 2 beef bones on the side. The beef bones are super flavorful and tender and the rib eye a perfectly sliced! The pho itself has a great rich beefy flavor and not too much cinnamon and star anise! Just how I like it! Now let's get to the Hu Tieu, best I've had out here in the greater Sacramento area and the city of Elk Grove! Broth is on point like really really packed with flavor and they are very generous with the meats! So much ground pork and a couple of quail eggs with everything else that marries so well together!! I was looking at their menu and saw they didn't have any chicken options...luckily he was around and asked if had any questions. He told me that the chicken soup wasn't on the menu but he could check if they had any chicken in the kitchen....and they did! Our food came out in a timely manner and we were always being checked on. F O O D: I don't think I've finished a bowl of pho so fast! The broth was tasty, chicken wasn't overcooked, and the noodles! The noodles were the best part for me. They didn't clump together, were thick, and actually soaked up some flavor. I couldn't stop mentioning the noodles to my friend haha! O V E R A L L: I took one star off because of the lack of chicken options on their menu. If the owner's brother didn't come by, I wouldn't have known they had chicken soup. We finally came here yesterday since the weather is cooling down and I was craving soup. The place was packed when we arrived at noon on a Sunday, and they haven't even had a grand opening yet! We waited about 10 minutes for a table which allowed time for us to check out the menu and decide what we wanted. I ordered the Hu Tieu Dac Biet with soup. It was so tasty! I really enjoyed it way more than pho because of the flavorful broth, the char siu pork and the quail eggs. I'd love to try it next time with soup on the side as well, which would be really good in warm weather, kinda like dipping noodles. I also had a taste of the shrimp and chicken vermicelli bowl. The fish sauce was yummy and I really liked their egg rolls! They were light but still nice and crispy. Service was good and we got our food quickly. I'm pretty skeptical with new Asian restaurants opening up in the Elk Grove area since Stockton Blvd is where the authentic Vietnamese cuisines are at! BUT, this place is legit. The bun thit nhung is bomb. The grilled pork and shrimp are very flavorful; the combination of the meat and vermicelli noodles embedded on top of fresh lettuce with their sweet fish sauce drizzled on top is amazing. The egg rolls are a hit for my kids and definitely something I'd recommend for an appetizer order. They have a pretty small menu, but you can definitely find your usual noodle soup bowls here (pho, bun bo hue, etc.) Great place for a quick bite if you're in the Elk Grove area! read more
