As other reviews have noted, Pho D'Lite is under new (or should I say - back under the original) management, and the difference between them and the staff that was there when I wrote my original review is the difference between night and day.... I've been back to Pho D'Lite a few times since the original management took the place over again, and each visit has been fantastic. Whether it has been a walk-in, call-in, or sit-down meal, the food is excellent - the way any restaurant food should be. I have not encountered any of the issues with the kitchen that I noted before - such as unasked for substitutions, wilted/slimy vegetables, etc... This is the way it should have been all along. Kudos to the original owners for learning that a franchise was in trouble, and taking it back over, and getting it in the shape they wanted. read more

One of my favorite pho places. They're easily top 2 They don't put soy sauce in their broth which is great. I always get the pho d'lite without tripe but I've also had the shrimp. Take out is always fast and the vibe sitting down is also really great. Servers are friendly and attentive. I've had the thai iced tea once which was great. Trash all around from service to actual food.... really you are gonna claim this as pork ribs... its clearly bacon and the shrimp two frozen pieces defrosted. When i got there i knew i had 15 min but the person working told me he didn't know what seamless was and that he was not affiliated with them and no one has EVER ordered from there, eluding to the fact that I was scammed or something. Which was pointless to tell me, because pho d'lite does and he works there he represents them, and seamless took my money. Then he says i can place another order as if I'm going to pay again but its going to take a while, i asked why the time and shortage of staff was not relayed to seamless and other online delivery services and he claims that its the managers job to do that. How the hell is the manager suppose to do that when he is not present on site or reachable by phone. You are next in line acting helpless is not going to make me feel bad, at least call and make an attempt. Needless to say food was trash service was trash. Cashier didn't take accountability or try to make anything better, ordered a Thai ice tea he makes it and leaves it at the bar instead of giving it to me while I waited, been there over 30 min at this point. I am not one to complain and I understand he can only do so much. But when you try to deflect responsibility and try to make the customer feel like they were the ones that messed up that is where i draw the line. After revisiting this pho place i am happy to say that i am updating my review and giving it a great recommendation. My first 2 experiences here weren't spectacular but after craving pho we decided to give this place another shot. We ate at the restaurant and the manager informed me that there is a new boss and new manager who took over from the previous lady. The quality of food is great and the service was timely and friendly. If you haven't been here recently i would recommend stopping by soon and getting the chai tea! read more

The summer rolls were great, as usual. The accompanying dipping sauce is the cherry on top. So, my brother married a Cambodian and she introduced us all to soup that her mom had taught her was a traditional Cambodian noodle soup that sounds like "kah-thee-yoh" however you spell it, it is their take on Pho. It was the most delicious, most delightful soup I ever ate and so, every time I go to visit them, she makes a large pot and I love her all the more for it! So, with that as an intro, allow me to begin. I've read some of the reviews and I have to admit, they make good points. Where I would say the broth was light in flavor, another expressed discontent that it seemed primarily of green onion; this is true to a degree. I think the broth would benefit with an overnight's rest in the fridge where all the flavors could marinate- it almost always tastes better the second day, something I learned at my brother's house (though it never lasts beyond that). What I appreciated most about the broth was that it wasn't very oily (which could indicate a dearth of meat used in preparation; my little sister uses beef bones as her broth starter, then raw pork meatballs for added flavor). The chicken was white meat, fully cooked and chopped into smaller, more manageable pieces. The usual complement of bean sprouts, jalapenos and lime came with the soup which came in a large, squarish bowl that had me wanting some for my own kitchen. I also ordered hot tea- I got warm Jasmine tea which I'd never had before and am still not sure if I'd rather taste it than smell it. That was a little unexpected, but not unpleasant. The service was distracted; to be fair, I came in at 2:30pm or thereabouts, on a Wednesday afternoon when the lunch rush is about done and there's just the late eaters like me, so he was wrapping utensils in napkins to prepare for the dinner crowd. Still, he was polite and forthcoming when you could get his attention; as I was not in a hurry I have no complaints. I seem to recall another Pho place that was either in the same place or very close by that was roughly of the same character. I've only ever been to one place that I really loved and I suspect that was partly because it was the first one I frequented regularly (in Rockville) that has since become another restaurant of the Asian persuasion, but not one I've felt particularly persuaded to try out. Beyond that one, I've had the usual- Pho75 in Columbia, Pho95 in Rockville, Phoeatery, also in Rockville (probably the best of the three mentioned) and they all have their pluses and minuses. To have really good pho you have to go where it is, or make it yourself- and if its anything like katheeyoh, it takes the better part of a day just to get going so there's that to consider. If you're like me and not always up to a full day in the kitchen (something that is rare for me these days) then you're tasked with finding the best in a middling bunch. You could do worse than this place, especially if you're close enough to make it a habit. One thing to note, I did not see a bar- or rather, I did not see any liquor bottles in it, nor was there any area of the menu that had any libations other than tea and soft drinks. I did not ask, either (I figured if I didn't see it, it was likely they don't serve). If you find otherwise, let us know! read more

Had a craving for summer rolls and the option of driving to the Pho D'Lite either 20 minutes away in College Park or 10 minutes away in Bowie. Despite College Park being my preferred location, I took the lazy route and opted for Bowie. Big mistake, I should've trusted my gut. Summer rolls don't require cooking: literally steaming vermicelli noodles and soaking a translucent glycerine wrap. That should not take 35 minutes. But I waited and waited and waited. And my absolute pet peeve is when a restaurant isn't honest about running out of ingredients before you order. Summer rolls are literally five ingredients: mint, lettuce, vermicelli noodles, shrimp and the bánh tráng wrap. So if something is missing, customers notice. And yet, after already waiting 35 minutes, they had the audacity to try and serve me 4 small, haphazardly assembled rolls that were missing either the vermicelli noodles, or mint or both. Not a single roll had all five items. I immediately grabbed my things, refused the order and left. In the amount of time it took for me to wait for something as simple as summer rolls, I could've driven the extra distance to College Park and be seated and served both summer rolls and an entrée. Worst Pho I have ever had......from taste to presentation to ingredient quality, it was just bad

I'm giving a solid 4 stars. At first I was unimpressed with the service, but they redeemed themselves later, so read all the way through. We walked in, asked for a booth and then no one even came to give us a menu for over 5 minutes! We got assertive and hailed a server, ordered, and from there things were good. Water was consistently refilled, and we had regular check-ins from servers. We ordered the vegetarian pho, shrimp pho, and an order of vermicelli noodles with shrimp. Both bowls of pho were generous and delicious! I had to ask for a side of fresh herbs/seasonings to add (basil, bean sprouts, jalapenos, lime wedges), which usually is served standard at other places, but maybe you have to ask here? It didn't cost any extra, so maybe they just forgot to bring it to me. Anyhow, once I added those fixings and a squirt of hoisin sauce (the brown sauce in the squirt bottle), I was in heaven. Pho is totally comfort food! The vegetarian pho has veggie broth and had fried tofu, bok choy (I think), and cilantro already in it. The shrimp pho was delicious, too. I'd give them both a solid 4 stars. Maybe 4.3 :) The weak point was the shrimp and rice vermicelli bowl. It was pretty bland. And the orange-colored fish sauce mix that comes with it didn't really help. It was different/not as good as the sauce I've had in other Vietnamese restaurants. We squirted a good amount of hoisin on it and that dramatically improved it. But overall that dish was a 2.5 star experience. Ok, so here's where they redeemed themselves from ignoring us at the beginning of the night. My preschooler thought he'd be sneaky and "steal" food from Mommy's plate. And before I knew it, I heard "Ha-ha! I stole your food!" and realized too late that he was putting a big slice of jalapeno in his mouth! It took about 3 seconds for reality to hit him, and then he was screaming that the food was burning him. I mean, SCREAMING. His face was bright red and he was crying out of control. Two servers ran over and I told them what he ate and asked if they had juice or something to help with the heat. They RAN and called out to the kitchen, quickly bringing out a cup of milk (which I didn't even know they served) for him to guzzle down. He won't make that mistake again, I'm sure. Anyhow, they were so nice about it and really hustled to get him help. We were very grateful. In sum, we'll be back and probably stick to the pho. After reading some of the reviews I was really looking forward to eating here. Unfortunately it turned out to be a great disappointment. When we arrived we noticed there was only one waitress who seemed to be completely overwhelmed having to attend the carry out and dine in costumers. We were asked to sit ourselves and were not given a menu. We had to find one on our own. When she took our order we gave explicit instructions to not have any peanuts on my son's meal. When we got his plate we noticed the meal had peanuts to which the waitress said it was not. We confirmed that it was and explained to her how it was a life or death reaction for my son. Pho D'Lite in Bowie? I've dined at this restaurant a numerous number of times both dine in and take out. I've had 8 experiences that I remember that were turn offs. Usually I don't give a business that many chances before I move on, but this last time was the straw. I ordered two orders of Shrimp Rolls (A2) and one order of the Pho (P1). its what I order every time. When I got home, I found (A1) instead. Not a Major problem, but disappointing. I called to complain and the young lady who took my order answered the phone. when I complained about the mix up, she told me I ordered the A1!! things escalated from there and I asked for the manager. She told me she was the manager. I asked for the owner, she told me to wait and after a short time, told me to call back another time and hung up. Shortly thereafter, she called me back with a "blocked number" and started to cuss at me and calling me vile things. I hung up. She called me again a few minutes later and did it again. The customer service at Pho D'Lite alone gets a 5-star. They have great customer service. Every time I go there I am treated like a celebrity. I love their tea. It tastes like it might have a touch of sweetened condensed milk in it which satisfies my sweet tooth. This time around I ordered the Pad Thai noodles with chicken. This dish was good hot, however I put half in the refrigerator. When I came home I ate the other half and squeezed the lime over it that came with it. It was sooooooo delicious. Honestly, I like it better cold than hot. It was like a refreshing salad. If you are looking for a lot of chicken in your dish (this is not the dish for you). Probably the worst food I have ever tasted in my life. There aren't many Vietnamese restaurants in the area so I thought I'd give this place a shot. I ordered the summer rolls, the rice combo that comes with an egg roll, pork chops, shrimp, and fried egg, and a Thai iced tea. The summer rolls were full of lettuce with barely any shrimp and who knows how long it had been sitting there, definitely not fresh. I can't even describe how bad the rice dish was. The "pork chops" were just a few tiny pieces of meat, the egg roll had such a bad after taste, and there were 2 puny pieces of shrimp. The Thai iced tea was so sweet, even after the ice watered it down, I couldn't drink it. As someone who loves to eat, I was really annoyed that I had to throw out my food and waste my money!! SOOO disappointed at the crappy quality of this place! I should've known when I walked into an empty restaurant at peak dinner time! The only redeeming factor was the service. The hostess who took my order was very friendly. This place has a College Park location which is somewhat better, but if you want really good Vietnamese food (that's also fairly inexpensive) go check out Mi La Cay in Wheaton. It's a bit of a hike, but absolutely worth it. To the owners, PLEASE do something about this place. You could really be making some bucks if you put some care into your restaurant. read more

I chose Pho D'Lite for dinner as I needed something to eat for dinner while I was in the area waiting for my kiddo to be done with her girl scout meeting. I have been to Pho D'Lite before, and it was good, so I decided to try it again. It was a very cold night and I felt it appropriate. I was greeted by a very nice young man named Matteo. He was pleasant and took my order. He was patient while I teetered on if I wanted anything else. I didn't! I ordered the chicken Pho to go! My order took less than 10 minutes to be ready. Once ready it was neatly packaged up to go. This broth is pretty awesome! I could just drink it with nothing else. But I did love all of the condiments that came with the take out. There was basil, jalapenos, chicken of course, bean sprouts, green onions, lime, sriracha and a brown sauce that I wasn't sure what it was, but it was good. When I got home and was ready to dig in, it was awesome! It was the perfect choice on a cold night! I had enough for another round the next day. The 2 rating is for the food but for the experience. Based on the reviews I've read, many did not have an experience like what I had tonight. My girlfriends And I meet up once a month for dinner. I noticed that the restaurant was on Groupon (plug, yes there's a Groupon deal right now for lunch and dinner)so I said, hey, why not save some money. I let the waitress know my Groupon was for $20 off of the receipt. Waitress brings back the bill and says the remainder is 19.50 something . We ask her to split it amongst the 3 of us. Once I left the restaurant I realized, we were overcharged . Our total was $26.40 + tax without the Groupon. With the Groupon it should have been 6.40+ tax. Visited here for the first time recently. Had never heard of this place but was given a groupon to it as a stocking stuffer so figured why not check it out..... The location is easy to find, it's well lit, and there is ample parking. I found the staff to be friendly upon entering and someone was at our table in a decent amount of time to greet and ask for our order. I ordered the crispy fried egg rolls as an appetizer and after a little debate ordered the pho bowl which included "the works", basically a little bit of all of their beef selection. My friend ordered the vegetable pho offering. Service sort of began to fall off from there. We got the bowls in a reasonable amount of time but they were dropped off with no utensils nor the plate of vegges, limes, and jalapenos offered. We were able to catch someone and this was quickly addressed. However, my egg rolls hadn't made it to the table yet. After asking about those, they were dropped off a few mins later. Not a big deal but they were supposed to be an appetizer. I found the food to be just so-so. The soup came in a large enough bowl but there wasn't much meat, which I thought I was odd given the description in the menu. The egg rolls were a bit over cooked but still not bad, the sauce they came with was definitely pretty tasty. wish I had gotten the name of it. Feeling very disappointed. We ordered two appetizers, "choose your own" pho, and Bangkok noodles. Our appetizer (singular) took almost 25 minutes to make it to the table. This was my first time having Pho. I'm not sure what all the hype is about; its just soup with noodles. The soup/broth is not all the flavorful. It's ok. Would I get it again, sure. I had the Pho Chicken; I don't even remember tasting any chicken though, so if your thinking you want a hearty chicken Pho, this is not the dish for you. The atmosphere is quiet and clean.
