We're from out of town and needed some good PHO! My husband ordered the fillet mignon PHO and I ordered the chicken. I ordered extra vegetables with the chicken and they kindly subbed-out the rice noodles for egg noodles, which were absolutely delicious! TRY THE EGG NOODLES! YUM! We also ordered the fresh spring rolls, and the fried egg rolls. The egg rolls are outstanding, and there is a little side garnish salad that accompanies them. It's made out of fresh carrots and daikon radish mixed with a light dressing. I could eat an entire bowl of it! Yes, it is THAT good! Unfortunately, you cannot order it as a side, you can only get it with the eggrolls! I also had the passionfruit tea, which was tasty and comes with free refills too! I'm a big fan of PEACEFUL environments to ENJOY my meal in. . . This is a quiet place and very clean. I have a habit of checking how clean the condiment bottles are, along with everything else, and this place passes my inspection! Went back for a return visit, and was not disappointed. Service is excellent, and it's very affordable. Nice variety of meats in the combo pho, with a nice flavorful broth. It was ok experience for me. I ordered Pho Tai and I and my friend ordered two of them but somehow the guy misunderstood he brought us only one. We told him we are not sharing and one for each but he made a mistake. It's ok for me he made a mistake but he was very much making excuses and I do not like people make excuses. Pho broth was good enough but tendon was too thin. Good thing is rare steak was a lot compare with other pho places. They have L or XL sizes of Pho but L size is M size so why they didn't just say M and L? read more

To be perfectly honest, I'm still on the lookout for a really great Vietnamese restaurant in South Bay, but I dropped by Pho House for a quick bite and grabbed myself a banh mi sandwich with grilled pork and a Thai tea. The banh mi was quite good and hefty in portion for the price. It had a light and airy crisp baguette with a good amount of sweet and savory grilled pork and the customary banh mi veggies like cilantro, cucumber, pickled carrots and radish and straight-up sliced jalapenos. The only thing missing in this was the pate to make it the real stuff, but I know that liver isn't everyone's cup of tea so I do understand the choice of leaving it out. My husband had a nice large simple bowl of pho tai, which is the hot noodle soup dish that comes with lean raw beef slices that are so thin that they begin to cook in the broth as you swish them around in the hot broth. I'm just concerned that this broth which is hot enough to cook thin raw beef is being served in a plastic bowl. I've only ever seen pho served in the heavy-set stoneware type bowls while the cold vermicelli noodles might pass in plastic bowls because it's a cold dish. But tastewise, the pho was quite good with a decent portion of meat accompanied by a generous portion of fresh bean sprouts, Thai basil, lime, and cilantro to go with the meal. Admittedly though, both of us felt that the broth while being well seasoned, might be a little... er... how should I say... too seasoned. I've worked part-time gigs in the past so I know that MSG is often used in restaurants serving pho, but this is in addition to the broth being made with lots of love, meaning hours and hours of boiling so we should be able to taste the depth. Pho House's broth tasted both complex and too simple at the same time. That's the best way I can put it. Which is to say that the food wasn't bad at all but my husband did eventually set aside his bowl and opted for the other half of my banh mi sandwich. What I really appreciated though was that they don't skimp on portions. The banh mi was fairly priced but what I expected to be a small baguette turned out to be much larger and the ingredients are so good. The next time I'm craving a banh mi, I'm definitely choosing Pho House over Lee's Sandwiches. Another thing that I love here is that when I asked for a Thai tea, they didn't give me a watered-down or mostly-ice version. It was a properly strong Thai tea flavor with just enough ice to make it a refreshingly icy drink in this ungodly heat-wave. I loved it. The shop ambiance could use some work and maybe their a/c wasn't working properly in this unseemly warm weather, but it was a little stuffy like other reviewer's mentioned, maybe exacerbated by the fact that a large vat of broth is likely boiling away in the back. But the service was quick, pleasant, and professional. The person who helped us at the register when paying wasn't fluent in English but I assumed he was because when he spoke briefly he sounded very fluent. But when I asked him a more detailed question like if they baked their baguette in-house, I immediately regretted this because I obviously made him feel uncomfortable by asking an uncustomary question. Trying at this point to not be that one odd pesky customer, I tried to pass the awkward moment as best as I could, but he was very nice and did eventually explain that they purchase their bread especially from a place that makes the Vietnamese-style baguettes the right way. Sadly, I don't know where that place might be because wanting to be polite, I thanked him and went my way. But there you go, friends. I tried. All in all, the pho could be better, but their banh mi sandwiches are great! And they're very nice people as well. I would definitely come again for a quick lunch. read more

Had the nem nuong cuon rolls which is the grilled pork meatball rolls with a crispy inside like the Brodard rolls in Westminster that made these so popular. They were really good, add the sambal to the dipping sauce definitely to get more flavor. 2 large rolls for $4.25. And had to base my ratings though on the pho ga, my go to soup. The broth was clean but needed a little more flavor. It was a huge bowl, and they only have a large ($7.70) or extra large ($8.70). Pork was tasty but needs more pickled veggies and more cilantro in it. The bun was warm and crunchy which I loved! First time at Pho House and we will definitely be back! What a nice find in Lawndale. Located in a plaza with lots of parking and a Vietnamese market that I often go to but never tried Pho House until yesterday. We ordered rib eye pho, vermicelli, pork spring rolls, house special egg rolls and a pork banh mi. Yes, it was only me and hubby but we always like to try a lot, especially trying a restaurant for the first time. The place was nice and clean and the best part was the friendly staff. I love grilled pork spring rolls and theirs was good but the pork was a little small. The end of the roll had no meat and the best part of the roll is of course the meat. Otherwise, it was good! The ribeye pho was tasty and hot temperature just the way I like it. Hubby had the vermicelli with shrimp, egg rolls, shrimp cakes etc. and he loved the taste! He said he would definitely order that again. The banh mi was also tasty but the meat was a bit skimpy. Wish it had more meat and so I'm not eating the bread by itself. I like restaurants that has tasty food for us adults and also food that our kids would enjoy and this place definitely has it. There should be a 0-Star option yelp. I would NOT recommend this place at all. Apparently my $7.40 was not good enough for this business owner. I didn't have a lot of time and was in the area for a dental appointment so I ordered an order of Spring rolls w/o noodles and a side of broth. When I asked for a side of bean sprout (cost: $1 for about a pound) he said it does not come with the broth it's only for PHO buying customers. So I told him that every other Pho restaurant I go to usually give it anyway (the plate with lime, basil and bean sprout) but you don't need to if it's not included. He still brought it out! When I went to the desk to pay I just gave my card and asked what is your name? He replied; Sun and I am the owner. I replied; good to know. He then said... YOU SHOULD GO TO THE PLACE THAT GIVES YOU FREE STUFF. WOW what a way to treat a NEW customer. Very goood! Tasty. I've gotten the bang for my buck, its got a homestyle taste to it. My roommate suggested that the other good pho places use a paste, and we like the taste! But this place uses a home cooking at its best. Good price for an XL at a $1 bump, might as well right. And the banh mi's are like $6, lowest I've seen them in town. Honestly I could eat a banh mi as a small meal. The Pho with some spice, is nice. I prefer the filet mignon and I enjoyed the overall experience. I'd say I would like to eat more of it. I tried to explain to them that this place was known for it's exquisite Pho Ga and the fact that the steamed chicken was the way to prepare it to make sure it's tender. As a Vietnamese person, I've tried every Vietnamese place in the south bay area and they have the best egg rolls and pho, easily. Some other places have more variety and different specialties but pho house does pho right, which is usually what I'm looking for. I've ordered takeout before and it is always smooth. I did end up ordering delivery tonight and when there was a mixup with the driver forgetting food in their car , and although it wasn't their fault, they wanted to be helpful even though delivery issues usually need to be figured out through the delivery provider. They even called back to check in after it was resolved. They seem to really care and the food is good. Support this local business! We will definitely be getting more food from here! read more

I'm a pho lover and try it all over, as well as fried rice. This place really missed the mark on flavor. The broth to my seafood noodle soup was way off and smelled and tasted like it was very heavy with star anise (very similar to black licorice). None of the the veggies were sautéed, just raw for the broth, which means a huge flavoring opportunity was missed. The chicken noodle soup was also missing in flavor, especially because the chicken was boiled, not sautéed. The fried rice had very dry chicken--like cotton balls, as well as dried out rice, and the "crab" was imitation in everything... they also don't offer spam musubi. As far as my places go for fried rice, pho, and spam musubi, nobody beats Saigon Bistro on Carson St. near Western.
