I have been craving Vietnamese food for so long. I went on Yelp and this came up. Came in and the menu was pretty nice. You order at the counter and then take a seat on the bench if you're taking out or they give you a number and sit wherever you want. I got the grilled pork vermecelli and a side order of egg rolls. I got my number and was barely choosing a table to sit at and the egg rolls came already. The egg rolls were nice. I think there's pork and shrimp in it? Comes with one piece of lettuce to split in half and wrap your egg rolls in and dip it into the fish sauce. The vermecelli was comparable to the hole-in-the-wall places back home. One thing was that the vermecelli themselves were a bit overcooked. I like a nice bite to it, but it went together nicely with the pork and another egg roll. The pork was nicely grilled and had nice flavor. Don't forget to add chili sauce (available at the counter) or Sriracha to the fish sauce and pour it on your noodles! read more

Today, I showed up exactly when my online order was supposed to be ready. The person at the front told me it would be another "1-3 minutes." And so I wait. To me that doesn't specifically mean non-authentic. The broth had an interesting before taste if that's even a thing which makes me wonder if it is msg ridden and powder based. Came for lunch with some co-workers, as the cold front from last week had us craving pho. the restaurant seems to be set up more for to go orders than eat it-there are a few tables, but mostly two-tops. It is clean and bright. I ordered my usual-chicken pho. It came out pretty quickly and was a good sized portion. The broth was good, if a bit salty, and there was a lot of chicken in it. They brought out plenty of veggies to add (we did ask for extra jalapenos). Once done up the way I like, this was a good bowl of pho. The only criticism is that the prices are pretty high comparatively. For a quick, casual, decent pho meal in the area, I do recommend. read more

Now, I probably eat pho at least once a week and this is my go-to place, but there are a few things that throw me off.. On this momentous day, I took one step in the door for man, and took another step in for my stomach. I ordered the beef pho and egg rolls. I've also tried their kbbq sandwich and grilled pork sandwich. Beef pho - I like the simplicity of just saying beef pho when I order. Most of my favorite meats are already in the soup, so there is nothing I would add or subtract. The soup was savory, with a rich taste that lets you know the pho was cooked for a long time. If I had really thick skin, I would bathe in their broth for shits and giggles. Egg rolls - These are actually homemade by the mamasan in the back!!! Delicious. They are nicely stuffed with filling, so I didn't feel ripped off. PLUS, they let me have an extra one cause that's how I (egg) roll. KBBQ sandwich - I hear this is their best seller and the meat is actually a convoluted secret recipe made by the korean spy that sometimes works the front desk. You can tell by the way he constantly brushes his hair off his face...sneaky sneaky Mr. Man...sneaky sneaky. And yea, the sandwich is pretty spectacular. Grilled pork sandwich. - Um...winning. But not as much winning as the KBBQ sandwich, but if I had to rate this sandwich on a scale from 0 to 1, one being best, I would rate it a 1. Fom the empirical evidence given, one can accurately deduce that T-Rex was by far a superior predator than the vaunted velociraptor. T-Rex's sheer size and jaw strength would crush lesser men like twigs, but Chuck Norris could save us from his wrath with a mere CHUCKle. I'll admit that I was a bit skeptical about trying a Vietnamese restaurant that was in this area because we all know the good places are in Garland, Richardson, or Arlington... until now! The place is teeny tiny but very cute. The menu is also small but let's be honest, when it comes to Vietnamese food all you really need are banh mi sandwiches and pho anyways. Eggrolls were delish, although I'd be happier if they were a little bit bigger. The pho broth was perfect and it comes with a good amount of meat. Cute name. Small menu. And posh atmosphere. I am already critically aware that I am about to probably be disappointed. I have learned over the years the only way to truly appreciate the broth is to avoid at all costs adding the lime or rooster sauce (or any other items) immediately when the piping hot noodles are placed in front of you. Instead, slurp a few gulps. Let it marinate around in your mouth - see if you like it. I'll give Pho for Lovers a solid 4 on broth. The depth and clarity was there (at least the day I visited). But PHO REAL? $9 something for a beef pho? And limited options of chicken and seafood as other pho bowls? And no large or small? The beef was also not sliced thin enough for me to truly enjoy the texture of the meat. Fail on that front. I would say that this is a place to start your Vietnamese cuisine dining experience if you have never dipped your feet into it. Wow, the beef pho broth is one of the best I've had in town. For all the pho novices out there you can really tell the quality of a bowl of pho by it's broth. The broth was GREAT and the bowl comes with all the usual beef: filet, brisket, and meatballs; all cooked to perfection. I couldn't help but notice the KBBQ Banh Mi (sandwich) on the menu and had to order one to share. A really unique idea I have to say; korean bbq meat in a french baguette topped with mayo, cilantro, and most importantly, kim chi! It turned out to be quit swell and I must give props to whomever came up with this idea. All and all we were very satisfied with our visit to Pho is For Lovers and will def. be coming back. I took photos of my food apparently they serve the beef flanks raw which I already knew but the broth was not hot enough to cook the beef. PHO IS FOR LOVERS OF PHO (LIKE ME AND MOST LIKELY YOU). Doctors don't want you to know this, but Pho Beef Noodle Soup is 100% more efficient in relieving colds and flus than chicken noodle soup. Just kidding. Maybe so, maybe not, but Pho definitely hit the spot to help me relieve my cold. Shout out to the delivery man for providing "the goods." Now lets talk about the Pho. The FOOD: A BOWL OF TENDER LOVE AND CARE. Beef Pho: A BOWL OF SOUP THAT CAN DOUBLE AS A SIGNIFICANT OTHER. More visually and tastefully appealing than any other cold treatment. It is a comforting marriage between beef filet, brisket, and meatballs with rice noodles, bean sprouts, basil, and jalapenos. One whiff of this sweet, aromatic, and complex soup is enough to clear your sinuses and provide relief from cold-and-flu-like symptoms. The soup is sweet and savoury. My only wish was that the beefiness of the broth stood out more (-1 star), as it was lost in the aromatics of the spices and maybe more so diluted. The rice noodles were moist and bean sprouts and basil were fresh. Brisket is tender and chewy, and not tough and dry as with other places. Beef filet was tender and juicy with a clean taste. The beef meatballs have a nice fatty flavor without them being too fatty or overwhelming. The VERDICT: SPREAD LOVE THROUGH PHO. Beef Pho at Pho is For Lovers excels in its simplicity and use of good quality ingredients. The rice noodles were moist and soft, and not a tangled mess. The beef filet was tender, juicy, and clean in flavor. The brisket was tender and juicy with beefiness, and was not dry compared to other places. Overall, the aromatics of the spices gave this broth complexity, but the beefy flavor was diluted and lacking. I would definitely be back for another STAT bowl of Beef Pho for any new colds, but am more interested in trying their Bun Bo Hue at their Richardson location. read more

Pho for posers Going to Pho for Lovers on Greenville is the "safe" version of Vietnamese cuisine. The tiny restaurant was so tightly packed and congested that it felt hot and sticky. The walls are covered with white board and decor by the Apple Store. The prices seem to match too, $7 for Pho and Bun. The portions are also the smallest I've seen in any Viet restaurant. Did I mention all your dishes come out in take out containers? Confused? Me too. I ordered the Vermicelli (Bun) and Grilled pork with egg rolls. it came in a standard square Styrofoam take out box. The actual dish was only in the entree section of the box, the other two side sections had the veggies and a small container of fish sauce (watered down). Something didn't look right, this was the largest Vermicelli I have ever seen! I was almost convinced that it was spaghetti. I've been procrastinating to find a good spot close to home, only settling for pho whenever I head over to work on the Ft. Worth side of the metroplex (Miss Saigon in Hurst is my spot!). The place is kind of small, so I can imagine there may be a battle for seats during the lunch rush. The menu is exactly how I like it....simple and small! I ordered the vegetable pho option with tofu, along with the tofu spring rolls. The bowl was your standard size pho bowl...big. The vegetable broth was good, and the veggies that were in the soup were fresh! Everything that I would expect in a nice bowl of noodle soup, I got! Excellent! The spring rolls were fresh (tofu, noodles, basil, check, check, check), and the dipping sauce was right on point as well. First off, I will start by saying I love this place. I believe ordering pho is a very personal experience. Everyone has a range of preferences that can make or break your experience here. I REALLY enjoyed the pho. Mind you, I do NOT like pho very spicy. Also, I never eat pho with meat. I imagine if you like both super spicy pho or meat pho, this wouldn't impress you. Another element to consider here is that I pretty much only like to add basil to my pho. If you like a TON of additions to your pho, also not the place for you. I've eaten here for the past few years, my go-to is the Beef Pho. The flavor of the broth is smooth not too strong, and the meat is tender and soft. I take it to go or eat here both ways are great! My second favorite and the first plate I tried was the Tofu Pho, it comes with carrots, shiitake mushrooms, daikon radish, and snow peas. The broth is delicious! The egg rolls are great as well! I'm torn. Here's the sitch: The beef pho IS very good. But it's $6.50. But, it does come with three different meats. But I really only liked the filet. But, that's just my personal preference, others enjoyed the brisket (a little too fatty for me) and meatballs (I didn't like the texture of them) as well. One size offered only, but it should be adequate for most people. The only other pho they have is chicken, and there are no options for any of the "weirder" stuff like tripe if you like that sort of thing. BUT, they have banh mi! And things like egg rolls--but the egg rolls were not good. The place was tiny, and hot, but they JUST opened so hopefully they'll at least get the temperature more comfortable. If i could come back and enjoy a beef pho with only the filet meat in a cooler setting, I probably would on occasion because it's the closest tasty pho I've had. I've been coming to Pho is for Lovers for probably a couple of years now. At first I only ever got their chicken and rice/ vermicelli plate and shrimp spring rolls, but more recently I've ventured into the world of pho. I'm no expert, but I really love their pho! I usually get the seafood pho, but the chicken is great too. And they have my beloved Mexican Coke!!! Last night I went in to get dinner after an incredibly long day of law school.
