You know, it's pho, but this place has a real good consume that most will enjoy. Super clear, not much fat yet crazy flavorful and full bodied. I always order the #2 which has all the goodies, brisket, rare beef, tendon, tripe and beef balls (not literally but beef meatballs). With a little dipping bowl full of chili paste and hoisin, I'm in heaven (I never add condiments to the pho itself). I will complain for a moment, they're super stingy with the accompanying veggie plate. Seriously, 2 of us are supposed to share the small amount of basil, cilantro and Thai basil? Why? We should each have our own. Same goes for fried rolls, give me some damn lettuce and herbs to eat these in a traditional style. Meanwhile, the bho kho is also quite delicious, with plenty of egg noodles and deliciously tender beef and carrot. They do serve this as mi bho ko, which is fine, but why don't they serve Banh Mi?! You can sit where you want and the service was okay. We had a new server and she did well. There's a lot to choose from especially if you don't know what to order. I usually order pho and spring rolls, but, this time, I decided to have me some vermicelli bowl with BBQ pork and egg roll. It was worth it! It has fresh veggies in it such as bean sprouts, lettuce, cilantro and shredded carrots. They will also provide the dipping sauce (fish sauce) to you that you pour over your vermicelli bowl. I add chili to it and it is just heaven! It also comes with a clear broth on the side which is a good touch to wash down all that yumminess. If you are into hot tea, it is not complimentary. I have been going to this place for many many years!!! But unfortunately they don't care about the hygiene or appearance of the restaurant. First time I went after they reopen from Covid, the floors were dirty even right after opening time so like around 10am, and so were the tables, but I just kind of ignored it since I was very excited to eat there again. Second time I visited, not only was the floor worse but it had an unpleasant smell of sewer . I was very disgusted so I didn't eat my food. The third time...... My wife and I went here as we were coming back down from Tahoe and this helped us escape some heavy I-80 traffic. This place is large, clean, with plenty of free parking in the lot. I remember my wife and splitting a beef pho noodle soup and a bun vermicelli bowl and other were pretty solid. Their Vietnamese ice coffee was especially good, but I can't tell if it was that good or if it had because we had been stuck in hot traffic for a while. My dad loves two things: chili and soup. He's never tried Vietnamese food. Lately I've been taking him on random food adventures partly because I'm surprised he's never tried Indian or Thai food and partly because he is open to it. I enjoy taking him to new spots and watching his reaction. After he dumped half of the chili on the table into his Pho he gobbled down the entire bowl of soup! He definitely gave the place a big thumbs up! I on the other hand struggled some since the only vegan option was the spring rolls with tofu and peanut sauce. Not a vegan friendly establishment. The server was pretty gruff and short with us but hey, we didn't come for the conversation so no hard feelings there. It's definitely a hole-in-the-wall type of place. Absolutely the grosest place i have ever eaten .The smell was overbearing,only peeled half the shrimp in my spring roll,and i believe they fried everything in crisco because several hours later thats all i smell..The b.b.q chicken had Absolutely no taste . Food is ok and better than the only pho restaurant in Davis as of September 2019. An extra star for relatively early start at 9:30 am daily and accepting credit cards. I absolutely love this restaurant. The service is incredibly fast. The staff is nice and is attentive. There is often no wait. The food is delicious and filling. I come here ATLEAST once a month. The bowls are also pretty big and there is a wide variety of sauce on the table. There are restrooms as well as a tv sometimes playing videos.
