As a huge fan of Vietnamese food, it was hard for me to find a place that serves pho and vermicelli dishes that have a good balance between price and taste. I've been to locations in midlothian that have poor service or hours of operations, so my friends and I tried out Pho Saigon Garden and was fairly impressed, so we made it our go to place. We have been going here for few months and it was time I wrote a review. The location is fairly easy to find, plenty of parking. Facilities are clean and well maintained. The food is definitely better than other restaurants I've been to and the professionalism from the servers are there. Compared to other places I've been to, the ingredients used seem more fresh and quantity of food given is definitely more! One thing I didn't like was how much more expensive the food is here. For a beef spring roll, it's $5. I think compared to other spring rolls I've had, this place wasn't that much better in comparison in taste or size to validate a $5 price. Overall a pretty good place, I recommend people giving this place a try and experience the quality for themselves! read more

Immediately walked in and staff was rude and pushy. Came in with plenty of time before kitchen closing and one man told me to hurry up. Smells like stale cigarettes. Highly disappointed. What can I say, abundance of food for their price, and the flavors are perfect! Their broth recipe is not too salty or bland. Their spring rolls are perfectly cooked, not burnt. The summer rolls are not dried out or overly soft. They have one price for their Pho, but if you have a child with you, they will prepare a smaller portion and charge you less. By far, my go to for Pho! read more

Three stars for most items, but the chicken pho is spot on. We order it take out fairly often.

The owner was beyond rude. I had our takeout pho with extra meat. Each pho ended up costing 20 dollars without much difference of meat quantity. What was worse was the service we got when we took the food back to show. We heard no apology not even an excuse. Instead, he gave us a little more meat after going through the hassle and rudeness by the owner. We finally got to have dinner with stale noodles and cold soup, paying almost double compared to other pho restaurants in Richmond area. I will NEVER go back to this place! read more

No more limes served with Pho here! The limes have been replaced with old dried up lemons... Very disappointing! We were told limes were to expensive for the second time. We wanted to give them another try before we started eating Pho over on Midlothian Turnpike. Shrimp fried rice is the bomb. They make it the right way! Pho is great as well. Definitely worth a try.

The Pho was just decent. There was nothing that stood out as great or poor with the food. The only issue I had was with takeout Pho the broth wasn't quite hot enough to cook the meat so I had to heat it up myself at home. However, I cannot fault them for the time it took to get home , I just noticed that other places put the meat in the broth before giving it to customers for takeout so be aware of cooking the meat enough. read more

Our quest for a Vietnamese restaurant in Midlothian has ended (it began and ended with our first try). After eating at several Vietnamese restaurants in Fort Myers, Florida, we are confident that we're fairly good judges of good Vietnamese food. The portions are large, presented nicely, and delivered in a timely manner. My wife ordered vegetables with brown sauce. Came with a spring roll and soup; since she could not handle all three I opted to try the hot and sour soup "for her." Absolutely delicious!! I ordered Pho with chicken. It was as good as I have ever had. The chicken was very thinly sliced. The broth was delicious and a more than adequate amount of vermicelli accented the dish. Waiter was efficient and pleasant. The food is very good, exceptional for the Richmond area even. But the service kills any appeal this place ever held for me. The owner (?) is rude beyond belief. She is ugly, curt, and arrogant. This restaurant is one of the only Vietnamese South of the River. And the way they treat their customers, they won't be here long. My boss picked up lunch for 3 of us yesterday and my order was completely wrong. I ordered Grilled Pork Rice Noodle Salad Bowl. I texted what I wanted to my boss, so there was no mistake on our end. What I got was nothing close. I called and told the owner that my order wrong. All he wanted to do was argue with me. I told him I would come in after work to pick up my right order. He told me to bring my order so he could show the cook. I got there around 5:30 and again all he wanted to do was argue & blame us, saying it was "our" mistake. We get carryout from here often, but those days are over. We will NEVER go there again, ever. My co-worker got the same thing that I was supposed to get, and it was sub-par. It was missing half the things that are supposed to be included, it had no bean sprouts, no crushed peanuts, no cucumbers and very little lettuce. We'll make the trip to Broad Street in the future. This is our absolute favorite go-to place for Pho! It is delicious!! The broth has excellent flavor. We always order the first one on the list. We also love the grilled pork rice paper wraps that you make yourself. They are outstanding. If anyone is sick in our house, we get takeout Pho and feel better. Not the best, not the worst, and already forgotten for that matter. Pho Saigon Garden is another shot and a miss in the ever growing Vietnamese culinary scene. With the word "pho" in the name you'd assume that was their focus but I really can't say it is. They offer very few varieties of it and seem to focus on being just another Vietnamese restaurant in a part of town that seems to prefer corporate chains and fast food. The appetizer sample is a good deal price wise at only $7.99 but everything on it was average at best. The Chicken Skewers were overcooked, Rocket Shrimp had too much Rocket not enough Shrimp, and the rest of the spring rolls and dumplings were just ehhhhh. This was a course I could have skipped no problem. My Pho with Brisket and Flank was certainly edible. I'd rank it a "middle of the pack pick only worth eating if you were craving pho and stuck on Hull St. The noodles were so clumped together that even a good stir and quite a bit of time pulling apart left large bunches. The beef was tough and flavorless, which is typical for many places but if Pho So 1 can pull it off perfectly, everyone else should at least get close. The other disappointment was the broth. It had a SLIGHT sour note that was just vague enough to make it edible, but strong enough to make me not finish the broth off after everything else was gone. A few other upsets... wobbly tables, flies on the walls, insanely too strong iced coffee (had to add tons of water), and multiple staff members repeatedly checking the table to the point of obnoxious. I know it's early for this place and I'd love them to work out... but I can't see myself heading south of the river for Pho in this current state. read more

Highly under seasoned. Americanized. Terrible service. I don't know if it's a lack of fish sauce,salt or what but the food was bland. The strength of Pho broth is extremely important and this was chicken broth at it's best unfortunately. I live in Philadelphia and have been exposed to many, many different Vietnamese restaurants throughout the Philadelphia area. I consider myself pretty experienced in what is typically considered "good" Vietnamese food. However, whenever I would come down to the Midlothian/Brandermill area to visit my family, I found myself very dissatisfied with the quality and selection of Pho restaurants. I found out about this place recently and just ate my first meal there earlier today. The atmosphere was very comfortable. It felt clean and open instead of grimy or stuffy like some Pho places back in Philly. The staff was also very warm and friendly. The food was surprisingly good. The spring rolls were honestly some of the best I've ever had. The pho was delicious and the specialty drinks were very refreshing. Take it from a guy who's been eating pho his whole life: Pho Saigon Garden is a winner. I'll definitely be stopping by again the next time I'm in the area! read more

I've given this place many opportunities and every time its the same thing. They honestly pick and choose which customers they want to serve meaning we went in were seated but never greeted for a while. Also when the time came the lady was just short with us. No casual conversation just "are you ready to order" she left brought water came and checked on us once and never came back again. Onto the food- its wasnt bad but it wasnt worth the price. Got a take out order from here. The vegetables were not fresh which is my biggest complaint. They do have a very nice host, whose really patient. She seemed to be doing all the work and the guy working with her was lazy and wouldn't help her out. Anyways the broth was ok and so was the chicken stir fry. The boba was just Ice though. Worst service ever. It was empty when we walked in and as expected quiet. The old lady that attended us was the problem. She went on to talk to the other lady helping there about us. When confronted she couldn't even give a straight answer. I've never decide to get up and pay for only my drinks without trying the food until today. Especially because we drove 28 mins to eat here. When traveling for work I love to try new places but you just never know what you will get. I did some research and this place has good ratings and an authentic sounding menu so I'm giving it a shot. I have had so much Vietnamese food that I think I have a pretty good taste for the flavors. It's a nice place, easy to locate. Not too many people but it's Tuesday night. Awaiting my food so I'm hoping for the best!! Ordered Veg Garden Rolls and Vegetarian Soup. Freshness of their veggies is always a key indicator of everything else. It was great!! Summer rolls were rolled great with crispy tofu! Piled on hot chili sauce and the peanut sauce. Soup was equally good. We've been customers here for a while. We'll either eat in or get take out. Everyone us always friendly. Until today. We've always been able to go in and order 2 sides of bbq pork to go. For my picky eater daughter, this is something she actually enjoys since she's not really a meat eater. Today I went and the old woman told me it would be $20.00!!! For 2 sides of bbq pork!!! She said the cook doesn't make it as sides. I told her I had gotten it before and she asked him how much did they charge me. I couldn't really remember, I'm pretty sure it was around 12 dollars tho. I told her to just forget it once she got an attitude about it and I left. We really use to love this place, but I think the "New Managemnt" is going to run this place into the ground. read more

My friends got me into Vietnamese food a couple years ago and I've been hooked ever since. I thank the Food Gods every day for having Pho Saigon Garden close to my place. It's the only Vietnamese restaurant in the area and I go there on average once a week. I always get the vermicelli with pork (V1 on the menu) and I could eat a mountain of it every day. They service is always quick and the people working there are friendly. They also have a nice bar with a good selection of beverages. Most of the time they have football or other sports on the TV so I usually go there to watch some of the games. The decor and lighting give a off a nice casual vibe. Hands down, if you're sick of the usual steak/ burger joints on the south side hit up Pho Saigon Garden and prepare for a euphoric experience. read more

I'm glad we have another Vietnamese restaurant on this side of town. That said, the food here wasn't the worst Vietnamese food I've ever had, but it wasn't the best either. I had pho with chicken. The meat was really tough and instead of being shredded, it was large and cumbersome to eat. The pho broth was mediocre, but I did enjoy the generous portion of jalapenos, basil, lime that they brought to our table. We ordered summer rolls as an appetizer. If there was mint in them, I couldn't taste it. The peanut sauce was delicious, however. My husband ordered pho with seafood. This was the first time I've ever seen pho with broccoli added to it. He thought some of the seafood was chewy and overcooked. The server was friendly enough, didn't hover, checked back once to see if we needed anything. The restaurant is bright and inviting. I'll definitely go back, but next time I'm going to try the vermicelli. read more

When I moved up to Virginia one thing I really wanted to find was a solid Vietnamese restaurant, and this it! I have become a big fan of Pho Saigon in a big way. The Beef pho is definitely my favorite, and the crispy spring rolls are pretty awesome. If you are around Hull Street you should hit Pho Saigon up. And the takeout is great as well! read more
