My family being Chinese and all LOVES the Saturday bogo deal (buy one bowl of pho get the second half off). The pho here isn't my favorite, but the service is relatively fast and they give a lot of veggies~ Today aside from my usual tripe & rare steak (#17), I also tried their spring rolls and custard dessert. The pho broth here is flavorful but the noodles are on the more al dente side which I don't really like. The spring rolls were crispy and came with noodles, cucumber, mint leaves, and lettuce to wrap everything in. I would recommend everyone to try eating spring rolls this way! It's pretty tasty~ The custard dessert was a disappointment though. The custard's taste was alright but the texture was of firm...no extra firm tofu. I'm used to soft tofu texture custard so I was not very happy :( It also came on a plate with iced coffee and crushed ice on top...I wasn't sure if I was supposed to eat the crushed ice with the custard or if it was just put there to keep it cold?!!? While visiting waikiki me and my husband decided to look for a pho spot away from the resort, i must say not only did we enjoy the pho but the hospitality is what will make us come again and again. When we walked in we were greeted right away...(We also noticed how clean the restaurant was)The lady serving went above and beyond to make us comfortable, was super attentive and made sure we were enjoying our food, she even offered to change my pho to something else if i didn't like it. Pho Tri has gone though many renovations in the past few years. It has a nice set up with 3 different entrances/exits, one from the parking and two in the front on either side, facing Kalakaua Ave. Enter the parking lot from Beretania St. just before the Kalakaua stop light. Saturday's (especially dinner time) are always the most busy with their "buy 1 pho get the 2nd 50% off" deal so service is a lot slower that day than the rest. I always have pho cravings on Thursday nights, coincidentally. I don't eat pho every Thursday, but I do have my streaks.. Each time I've come on a Thursday for dinner around 6 or 7, there are only a few customers and service is lightning speed, as it should be, since everything in pho is already cooked/uncooked and ready to be served. There are two sizes- medium and large pho. I always order the medium with meat balls and tendon (my faves!) That specific combination isn't on the menu but you can ask for any mix of "meats" and they'll charge you accordingly. The basil, bean sprouts, lemon slices, etc. are plentiful and they always bring over a side dish filled with jalapenos, yum! I love the spring and summer rolls here but usually only order appetizers when I'm out with big eaters. In my opinion- none of these items are good as leftovers. This was the first place is what made get into pho. Before that, I didn't care for it. 5 stars for flavor, 5 stars for price! The pho soup base is awesome by itself. After eating a little bit, add some of their home made garlic chili sauce and bring out its second flavor. It adds more depth and a little spice to it. There's always parking and the food comes out super fast. Haven't really tried anything other than the pho or spring rolls here, so not sure about the rest of the menu. Pho Tri is my favorite Pho place on the island! I've tried many different Vietnamese restaurants and I've always stuck with Pho Tri. Not only is the service always amazing with friendly staff, but the prices are reasonable and quality is on point. No place else makes their lemon grass chili oil dipping sauce as yummy as Pho Tri. It's so flavorful, I wanna bottle it up and eat it with everything. The broth is piping hot the way I like it, because I like my rare meat on the side, and add it inside the bowl once it arrives. This is a family favorite for pho especially on a cold rainy day. Nothing like a hot bowl of pho to warm us up. The broth is really refreshing. I've tried other pho places on Oahu but the broth sand noodles are perfect here. My toddler loves coming here to eat children's pho. I also like their bbq pork rolls. The only problem is the parking. Parking in the structure is always tight. I have my husband drive to this place because I don't have the confidence to park the car without banging something. Not sure if it was the day but every single one of our water cups came with black specks floating at the bottom. Half the sauce dishes we were given still had old food stuck on them. The lettuce wraps for the spring rolls still had dirt specks as well. The food was okay but for the cleanliness especially during COVID, it's not worth it. I had a meeting nearby and we went to lunch. It was hard to think of a place to eat but we decided to go eat pho. That day, I was craving soupy food. Maybe I'm use to Pho in Chinatown. I'm a regular at Pho places in Chinatown. I just didn't really like the broth or noodles or beef at this place. The broth was bland and not hot enough to cook the beef. This is my favorite pho restaurant. They may not be the best but the staff are always very hospitable towards my family and make us feel welcomed. They're prices and cheap and Saturday they have a great deal on buy one pho get one 50% off. The portion sizes are really good and the quality of the side garnishes is always clean and fresh. $8 pho that leaves you feeling warm inside afterwards can't be beat. Parking might seem like a challenge but they have free parking inside the building. I always go up to the second floor and park near the stairs which leads right into the restaurant's back entrance. I really appreciate the generous amount of meat they put in their Pho compared to other places. The soup was very tasty and I like how they give you an option of whether you want a small, medium, or large bowl. (I got a large because I was really hungry but I only finished half of it! So maybe I'll get a small or medium next time...) Their spring rolls are okay. Not that they're bad in any way, they're just like other pho restaurant's spring rolls. In Honolulu, there are countless Pho restaurants so it's always hard to find something special. I really enjoyed eating at this one! Like most Pho places, the portion sizes are ample infringing on impossible to eat at the large size. The broth is healthy and flavorful; lots of noodles are found lurking below. The meat quality is excellent, usually with a lot provided. There are many hot sauces. The vegetable plate is large, clean, and fresh. Some things that make this place special: soda drinks are free with any entree purchase (which includes a bowl of pho), and on one night a week, a 2nd bowl of pho is 1/2 price. I was first introduced to this place about three years ago. I started a new job about a block away, and my boss brought me here for lunch. She said it's her favorite pho and she's been coming here for YEARS. She frequents this place so often that the servers know her by name... and her husband... and her kids... and her mom! The chicken pho is my favorite! They use sliced chicken breast so I'm happily not sorting through my food looking for bones and cartilage. The broth is delicious!!! I've lived near by for several years and walk by often without stopping by. Today I decided to drop in to pick up lunch for my wife and I since she said "surprise me". The staff was friendly and I ordered the summer rolls and sandwich. I was offered to wait in the empty side of the restaurant. The main area was almost full and after a short wait my order was ready. I took the food home and got to try both the sandwich and summer roll. The food was tasty and my wife said the rolls were better than Bale. Come here pretty often for the hubby, he loves pho but I'm not such a huge fan. We came on a Saturday for the buy one get one 50% off. He got a large meatball, and i got the tofu and veggie. Hooooooly hole-in-the-wall! The mom-and-pop shops strike again! This time with a knockout blow. Pho tri is by far...by VERY far, the best pho I have ever had, and by ever, I mean ever. I ordered the medium with tendon, tripe, and fat brisket. Come hungry, for you will find no shortage of meat in this bowl. Large, hearty pieces of fat brisket spilled over the bowl, with tasty layers of tendon and tripe beneath; all of which resting on a generous bed of noodles swimming in a bath of beefy broth seasoned to perfection. Seriously. The fat brisket at this place is pho-nomenal! I also tried the pork chops on this visit. I am not sure what exactly they cook these in, but the fat from the meat combines with whatever they use and gets absorbed by the bed of jasmine rice it's plated on. These grease-soaked grains are so delicious! Take some of the rice in a spoon and dip it into some of the beef broth from the pho. Now, open wide and taste the "grainbow". Mmmmm, no, you are not dreaming. It's really that good! The service is a good as the food. Everything came out fast and hot, and the waiter\waitress both seemed very happy to serve. I came back the very next night and had another bowl just to make sure it wasn't a fluke...nope, no flukes here. Still the best pho ever. The only issue I have with this place is the parking. There are only a few stalls on the street, leaving you the options of either parking at 7-11 or Foodland at the risk of getting a ticket, or parking on a different street altogether and walking. Ok came here again and tried their Vietnamese crepe. It's unusual to find new food experiences within familiar cuisines at my age but seeing all the reviews really piqued my curiosity. So glad I tried it. It was delicious and fresh and different. The lady proprietor is so nice and she taught us how to eat it - wrapped in the lettuce with all the herbs and then dipped in sauce. Had this plus large pho plus two spring rolls. So many herbs! All for less than $30 before tip! And the parking here is definitely narrow and a bit murdery but free and even no ticket or validation needed. Just walk in from the back entrance from the garage , seat yourself anywhere there's a open table with menus and food will come out fast. And go up to the counter to pay your bill if you wanna leave quickly. Came on a Sunday and no wait for lunch and parking empty. Prolly busier on Saturday's when they have their BOGO special on pho so will avoid that day of the week. As I opened the creaky metal door to Pho Tri, I was greeted by a giant water filled bamboo fountain. We found seats at a table and ordered our pho. Chicken pho for me ($7.45) and rare beef pho for my bf. I was feeling sick and we had tickets to watch our friends pageant, so therefore he had resolved to cure me with a hearty bowl of hot pho. Pho might cure the chills but certainly will not save you from a four hour long pageant. Our pho took about 6 minutes to come to our table and we started our pho preparation. If you eat pho regularly you know what I'm talking about. Break up your basil and mint leaves, throw in the sprouts, squeeze that lemon and pour on the sauce. I thought the amount of sprouts offered was lacking but I'm all about the veggies when it comes to my pho. I proceeded to horde all the sprouts and told my bf I needed them because I was sick (cough cough, hand over forehead). I will make up any excuse when it comes to my veggies. He saw through my soap opera styled acting and proceeded to eat his rare beef. The noodles in my pho were dense and a bit undercooked, the chicken was dry and the water from the bamboo fountain was so loud that it made me want to go potty. Not the greatest pho I've ever had but certainly not the worst. At least it was a clean restaurant and if you like the sound of running water or need help getting in the mood to go pee then you'll enjoy the fountain. In the end the pho did not cure my cold but I do think the pageant made me more sick because I was in bed for two days. I think it was the multitude of girls who answered the on stage question, "What is your biggest concern right now?" Most popular answers were "the children" and "global warming." Ack! We chose to go here because it is within walking distance of our new apartment. I read some good yelp reviews and I really wanted a good bowl of soup. The first impression was confusion. The sign right on the inside of the door states, "Please wait to be seated," so we walked in and waited there for about two to three minutes. A family of four - two school-aged girls with Dad (mom walked in later) stood NEXT to us and were waved in by the head waiter/cashier for the night. That did not sit well with me, initially - but I got over it after my Pho arrived and it soothed my nerves. The seafood Pho and chicken Pho was delicious and the veggies that came with the soup were fresh and tasty! I loved the broth and the bill was reasonable. Saturday's special is 50% off the second bowl of Pho - so that helped. The lady who waited on us at our table was very nice, did well to check on us throughout our dinner, and I ended up taking a plain Pho noodles and broth - with the basil, bean sprouts, lemon and such on the side. I wish I took photos, but the second the food was set down I dived right in! Delicious, tasty, savory, and as a Vietnamese; authentic. The pho is perfectly done, out of all the pho places I've tried in Honolulu this takes the cake. They also have real chopsticks and not wooden ones!! You can bet a great meal for $8 Pho is seemingly healthy ? tasty and very filling :) Pho Tri does it right, they have a full menu of many other traditional Vietnamese dishes, some of my faves = papaya salad, summer roll, steak salad and much more.
