    Phò Tri dining room...primary.
    Dan A.

It's been a bit since I've been to Phò Tri. Near the corner of Kalakaua Ave. and South Beretania St. Two dining areas, as if the primary isn't big enough. The phò is good but on my recent visit, I requested the BBQ Pork Chop Plate. Walked in and got it for takeaway. Hours: 1100a till 200p daily, for lunch. Dinners hours are 500p to 900p everyday. It took about 12+ minutes to get my order. Plate had two pork chops with lettuce/tomato and jasmine rice. Two containers of sauce were included bur not needed as the chops were exceptionally seasoned. Only quibble: a bit dry. Price was reasonable at $17+ Parking is in the back...via the senior apartment complex, accesible from a hallway door...never used the parking. Street metered parking on Kalakaua and Young streets.

Fair prices, good food and friendly staff! Also, free parking! Chinatown could never. You should "tri" this local business located in town. The staff is always kind and hardworking. Portions are good, especially for the price point. The beef pho and spring rolls are yummy. The restaurant is super clean and the food is flavorful. Definitely give this place a visit next time you're in the mood for pho!

Our Go-To Pho Spot We've picked up from Pho Tri several times now, and it's officially our favorite for Vietnamese takeout. Located at Kalakaua & Beretania, there's metered street parking or a small lot off Beretania. Orders are ready in about 15-20 minutes after calling in & super convenient. I have always had a positive experience when calling in my order. Favorites include the brisket pho (broth is rich and flavorful), lemongrass chicken vermicelli, chicken bánh mì, lemon beef salad, and both spring and summer rolls. The spring rolls stay crispy even after 30-40 minutes wait. My 3-year-old loves dipping her bánh mì into the pho broth. Love how we are able to order a side of broth for only $5 extra. Plenty of seating if you dine in, but takeout is quick and easy. Friendly staff, consistent quality, and crave-worthy flavors make Pho Tri a solid win.

It's been a long time since I've been back to Pho Tri. I mean my godson wasn't even born when I first went there and he's an adult now. I fondly remember the beef salad and today I made sure I got to eat it again. It was as good as I remember. The prices are reasonable and the food was good. My friend had I fought to pay the bill. I placed a Benjamin in the folder while my friend put his platinum card in. Our server said she likes the cash better. Cash is king, and I won! Service was awesome. The parking was so convenient. Just follow the signs at the garage entrance on S. Beretania St.

Convenient location with Free Parking! Serving up fresh dishes full of flavor with perfect blend of sauce & texture that pleases the palate. I had an order of spring rolls to start. Hand rolled with a generous portion of vermicelli rice noodles, plump shrimp, shredded carrot and crispy lettuce with a delicious peanut dipping sauce. Main dish vermicelli cold noodle bowl with shrimp & summer roll with house fish sauce and mix of fresh lettuce, bean sprouts, cucumbers & shredded carrots. I also added a side order of bbq shrimp that I poured into my bowl for the ultimate shrimp feast! Service by Tammy was friendly, efficient and my water glass was topped off continually. Fabulous Five Star dining with a simply decorated comfortable dining area. Definitely will be back the next time I'm craving a cold noodle bowl!

Now that we've finally entered the rainy season, I was craving a hot bowl of pho. Dined here with a friend and was super happy with the quick service and great food. Like, look how fresh the basil and bean sprouts looked! The pho came out within mere minutes and I was more than happy to chow down. The broth was comforting and flavorful, thankfully it didn't have the cinnamon like flavor that some restaurants have. What surprised me the most was the amount and flavor of the meat! Hiding under the broth of my pic was an insane amount of meat, enough to have a piece of meat with every bite. And it wasn't just simply boiled meat either, each piece (except the rare steak which is fair) was actually seasoned and provided an extra flavor profile to the bowl. Prices are reasonable and this may be my new go to spot for pho when the cravings hit. Parking is free in the garage, although a little bit of a squeeze. Park on the 2nd level and walk down the stairs and you'll find yourself entering the restaurant from the back. Not super complicated but just follow the signs.

After getting a late start shopping for a replacement hair dryer for my wife and a head start Christmas shopping for my 3 precious grandkids we fled Ala Moana Center focused on noodles for dinner. After striking out at McCully Shopping Center we decided on a steaming bowl of pho. Off to Pho Tri, one of our go-to restaurants for consistently clean and tasty pho. We arrived a tad bit after 8:00 pm and snagged parking right in front of the restaurant. Zipped in and our 2 bowls of piping hot pho were brought to our table as we munched on the fresh pile of bean spouts dipped in their house made chili sauce. Clean broth with star anise aroma with good size serving of eye round steak and well done flank steak. I surprised my wife and myself by finishing the large bowl. Must have been all of that walking and stressing over kiddie gifts. Overall and excellent tummy warming meal on a not-so-windy and cold evening. It was great to support a local small business on Small Business Saturday and even though we finished 5 minutes of closing, the owner took time to chat with us about the challenges of owning and operating a food service business. This is an area I'm well acquainted with having opened the State's Business Action Center ages ago. We talked of life, kids, grandkids, immigrant life in America and our travels throughout Vietnam. What I nice personal way to bond with the hardworking owner and to acknowledge the work that goes into keeping a business afloat in these stressful times. My hats off to Mr. Nguyen. He's been in business for over 20 years in Hawaii and still going! Pleased to support local small business serving great tasting pho and reasonable prices.

The food is always on point and service is awesome. You able to watch tv about the how they harvest food. The place has average noise level and very good atmosphere

Seafood Pho has only shrimp & fish balls in it. Sometimes you just want a simple bowl of good broth. Large $15.99, Medium $14.99
    D Z.

Sometimes you just want a really good bowl of pho broth. The noodles and topping complement the broth. It's only a dollar difference between medium $14.99 and large S15.99. Their spring roll are alway nicely fried and crispy, but I'm not a fan of their stuffing, so I usually just stick with a large bowl of Pho. Front door faces Kalakaua Avenue. The buildings parking entrance is on Beretania. If you're lucky enough to get meter parking by the front door, pay for it. It's not worth going around the block just to get to their free parking. If you're in their parking garage, there are stairs that lead directly to the back entrance of the restaurant.

I pride myself in knowing most restaurants around town, especially if they've been around for a while, so I was surprised when my friend suggested this place and I had no idea what he was talking about. It's located around the corner from a Senior housing building at the beginning of Kalakaua and Beretania. You can park on the second floor of the building for free but be careful that you don't get stuck in the lot which I think closes at 8 or 9 pm. You can exit but you can't get in unless you ask the restaurant to let you into the lot which we didn't know. Clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced, it's run by a very pleasant older couple. They have all the usual favorite standard Vietnamese dishes. I got a medium pho with eye round steak and tripe and my friend got the spring rolls and pork in vermicelli (bun). I liked the clean taste of the broth and tripe though there wasn't much of it. The beef was nice and tender and my pho came with the usual dish of fresh vege condiments. This pleasant neighborhood restaurant is a great place to go if you don't feel like cooking or if you want a nice, but casual place to dine out.

Does Pho Tri use MSG in any of their food?

According to our server, who checked with the cook, they do use MSG in their food. Not an issue for us though. Love their taste profile.

    Is there parking?

Yes, there's free parking in the building. Entrance is on South Beretania Street just after Punahou Street on the Makai side of the street. There's also several metered spaces on Kalakaua Avenue in front of the restaurant.

I heard they will keep this space for special events. The restaurant is quite busy and I'm glad we had reservations. Good thing I was there prior to lunch hour opening, otherwise we may lose our reservations since the person who made reservations tends to be habitual in arriving late. We dined in May, but it's been awhile since I first dined here. I preferred dining in Chinatown during lunch time than at dinner. Our waiter was really nice and helpful. I forgot his name, but I remembered that his eyeglasses that he wore was cool/funny, since the frames for each eye didn't match the other eye! lol. Funny it wasn't me who first noticed it. One was square frame and the other was a round frame! The restaurant doesn't do anything special for birthdays except may write Happy Birthday in chocolate on the dessert plate that you purchase for the birthday person. Their desserts are unique and refreshing. I think there are some rotating desserts /flavors like their seasonal menu for their main menu. I guess you can always keep coming back without being bored of the menu! I was bummed to see a previous dish posted of a pasta that I wanted to try that wasn't on the current spring seasonal menu! When we dined for brunch over the weekend, I was able to get the Hainan chicken with the crispy roast pork combo. It was very filling , tasty and satisfying. I do love ginger sauce on the cold ginger chicken but sometimes the chicken is just okay. This Hainan chicken was really good and the chicken was really moist! I thought it was the best I've tried! It was good that I wanted to takeout one last time in August before they moved! No more the 50/50 combo with the crispy roast pork on the lunch menu during the weekday. It was on the spring menu. Of course it's best to eat it in the restaurant than for take out. Bathroom is a must for me when dining out and they had only one shared bathroom for everyone! There was a guy who tried to make several attempts but wasn't successful, since there was always someone in the restroom. I'm glad the waiter told me there was a bigger separate bathroom with several stalls for men and ladies upstairs. You go straight through the kitchen to catch the elevator and to another kitchen /storage area! Thank Goodness! Best wishes at your new location. You offer yummy and tasty food!

The food is authentic and super delicious; the pho broth is the best that I have tasted, very clean and no msg (at least I can't tell). We have tried a lot of the menu items throughout the years; our favorites are: - combination pho - rare steak and meatballs pho - oxtails soup/pho - grilled pork chop rice - crispy spring rolls - summer rolls - beef salad (my wife's favorite, she orders it every time) - roasted pork and lemon grass chicken banh mi sandwiches - roasted pork and spring roll vermicelli bowl - the special combo wrap (very tasty but you have to wrap it yourself; some may think it is fun, but I am lazy and prefer to have it made and ready to eat) The prices are very reasonable, they haven't raised the prices much even when the food cost keeps going up. I believe they have some deserts, but we have never tried any, because their portion sizes are generous and we're usually too full to think about deserts. Park is s street parking, but we usually park in the municipal lot across the street. The rate is very reasonable, a couple dollars for a couple of hours. It is credit card only; there is no parking attendant, you pay using the paid machines in the middle of the lot or at the gates. I hope you will give Saigon a try, I think you will love it too.

There were wine and beer specials too but we were here for the cocktails. From the happy hour menu, we ordered the vegan spring rolls, chicken wings, and the Bo Ne Steak--a Vietnamese breakfast with bone marrow, cubed steak, sunny side eggs and a baguette. I can vouch for the spring rolls, light and crunchy without being oily. I don't eat land animals but my friend said the wings were divine. And they give you gloves to eat them. So civilized (ha) and a nice touch! She loved the bone marrow and steak. There was so much food she didn't finish it so I took it home to the hubby who devoured it. No complaints and only smiles from him! I wanted to try a couple pescatarian dishes from the regular menu so ordered the lemongrass clams which was AH-mazing! Could have been my favorite dish of the night because the flavors were unexpected but undeniably good. And, the garlic salmon bun (vermicelli noodles) was fantastic. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was savory yet light. I've never seen this option at any other Vietnamese restaurant and it certainly elevates the traditional dish which usually comes with meat, tofu, or spring rolls. (You can still order the bun with these options and they let you choose your protein combos.) Finally, (I told you there was a lot of food) we ordered the banana blossom salad. I rarely see this offering at other Vietnamese restaurants. It's hard to describe but I refer to this dish as the red-carpet version of the green papaya salad. It's more dressed up and sophisticated. A real treat and a must-have if you're dining at An Di Dzo. Parking was easy since it's at Ward (by the theaters or you can park anywhere in the village). The restaurant is clean and modern. And the service was courteous and professional. Our server Alex was great and made the evening extra special. An Di Dzo is open for lunch and dinner. They also offer some vegan options so I'll be back. Hubby enjoyed the leftovers so much he wants to give it a dine-in try. You don't have to ask me twice! Highly recommend you give them a try, too.

Chinatown has a lot of crime and homeless in the area so I would firstly recommend to go when the market is busy! 7am-12pm is a sweet spot where the food, produce and everything in the area comes alive. I'm Vietnamese and it was a very affirming and comforting experience for me when so many other Vietnamese folks came first thing in the morning to get their grub at Thuong An Lac. That's when you know you've found THE spot. Major Recommendations: -Viet Iced Coffee (prob the best you'll find on island easily) -Beef Stew + Baguette (so HEARTY. I've had both vegan and non vegan beef stews and it's spot on) We loved everything we got there. The water they serve you has pandan in it and tastes very very good. I still think about it!! There's so much love squeezed into everything they have there. They also sell a lot of snacks that they make and it's honestly FIRE as well. A lot of customers came in for the snacks too. Parking: There's a lot of nearby parking ranging from $2-6. A lot of people opt for the Chinatown municipal parking. It'll be a bit of a walk so plan accordingly. The restaurant is small and can only have a few parties in at a time. It's no frills but feels like you're just visiting your Aunt or Grandma's house. Prices are fair, not overpriced. Fun fact, they're TOP 100 vegan restaurants in the US. You're in for a treat. Please note: they only take cash tips! Consider this if you go :)

It's tucked away in the entrance of Chinatown Market, making it a true hidden gem. My favorite is the "beef" noodle soup. The broth is incredibly rich and flavorful--you'd never guess it's completely vegan. I also highly recommend the taro spring rolls, which are crispy, delicious, and the perfect appetizer. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so it may not be able to accommodate larger groups. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. As someone who loves noodle soup, I appreciate being able to enjoy such a satisfying meal while knowing it's entirely plant-based. I'll definitely be back!

Been wanting to try Vietnamese food that wasn't Pho or Bahn Mi…read more Got the beef salad and for someone who doesn't eat rabbit food, I gotta admit it was good. The dressing was really good. You already know the beef was good or it wouldn't get a good review from me. Got the spring rolls which was nice and hot. Wrapped the spring roll, noodles and the carrot & daikon with the lettuce and dipped it into the sauce. Winnahs. For the main entrees got the crispy fried noodles with seafood. It's like the Vietnamese version of Chinese seafood with cake noodles. Very crunchy and tasty. Lots of seafood. The other entree was the combo sizling plate. Yes, the plate was sizling. The plate had pate, sausage, meatball, beef and a fried egg. I've never tasted anything like that before. It's not the usual taste that you're accustomed to but i enjoyed it. I thought it was good. Both entrees and the salad are good serving size. I like the spring rolls and wish had more but that's just me. The service is excellent even though it was pretty busy. The waiter apologized for being late but it was quite understandable. He's so polite. The lady who might be the owner was very pleasant and personable. It was a very good experience. The only thing that might be a slight problem like any other restaurant on Kapahulu is parking.

I'm usually more of a spring roll person, but these were so good and something I'd definitely order again. I had the brisket pho, and my boyfriend got the beef and flank pho. Both were delicious, and the broth was flavorful and comforting. I'm pretty particular about Thai tea, but theirs is always really good. The restaurant is small and fills up quickly. The service is always good and the food comes out fast. If you're in the Aiea area and looking for a solid pho spot, Pho Time is worth a visit!

When I placed my order, I told the woman, "no cilantro" on anything. When I received my order, the soup was missing. When the woman brought the soup, I said again, "no cilantro." She said, yes. I paid and left. When I got home, I opened the salad and noticed a pile of basil and what appeared to be cilantro. It tasted like cilantro, too. So, I went back to the restaurant to return my order, as I no longer wanted any of it. When I got there, the woman told me that isn't cilantro, it's "culantro." She said she would refund my salad, but not the sandwich and proceeded to argue with me that she was doing me a favor because the salad did not have cilantro, even though she very well knows they taste the same. In any case, I left my entire order and was only refunded for the salad. I will dispute with my cc company. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE
