Yum! This is the first restaurant we tried when we moved to Queen Anne so it will always hold a special place in our hearts as we ate it in our new house, still littered with unpacked boxes. We got combo banh mi to go and were pretty happy with it. It was not the BEST we've ever had but it was a close second and at $4.50 a really great option for fast and cheap dinner. I'm new in town and decided to come here since it is close to where I live now. Originally, I am from Houston, Texas which has a pretty large Vietnamese population so I have had my fair share of Vietnamese cuisine. That being said, when I entered into this establishment, I was surprisingly greeted with a lovely aroma of spices. Unfortunately, the service did not match the service I received. Although it was lunch time, it did not look that busy. I came up to ask for a to go menu and the Lady at the cashier was not pleasant at all. It seemed like she had hesitation with giving me the menu even. Anyways, after looking through the menu, I came back to the front to place an order. The waiter/busboy asked me to wait a minute and he proceed to wait on other guests and even sit down guests that came after me. Meanwhile, the cashier acted like she was too busy to assist me and continued to print receipts without even looking up. After about 4 mins he took my order and THEN that is when the cashier promptly gave me the bill before my food even came out. I was very insulted at the service and the Pho was standard nothing really stood out. Moreover, I still believe it was a little high $10.75 +tax for some Pho. There is a Thai restaurant across the street that I visited a few days ago that gives better service and more food than this. Pho Viet Anh did a decent job at filling our tummies with delicious pho. We ordered brisket pho, steak and brisket pho, and fried pork/shrimp rolls. Oddly they only offered small or large sizes of pho, and the large was just enough to satisfy a hungry appetite. It was way more soup than noodles, but it was loaded with tasty morsels of brisket, and the broth was very beefy and flavorful. Fried rolls were too expensive ($5.50) for a few overcooked tiny pieces, and no fresh veggies on the side! Service was pretty blah, we felt invisible from the moment we walked in, until we left. No hello, thank you, good-bye, you're welcome...the guy just took our order, served our food, and the other lady had a mean scowl on her face the entire time. I even yelled out a "thank you" as we were leaving, and no response at all. Wow. This place is very small, maybe a total of 10 tables packed closely together. Overall, pricey for what you get, but tasty pho broth nonetheless, so possibly worth another visit if in the area. I think I've finally found what I've been searching for after so long. The jackpot of Vietnamese noodle soups in Seattle is here, and no, I did not even know that such a thing existed until I stumbled upon this place completely by accident while wandering around the Space Needle on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Best feeling in the world. If you think all pho restaurants in the world are seedy and provide you with cheap and quick service, then you will not even know what just hit you if you come here. To start off, their menu is beautifully crafted and much more appealing than the ordinary plastic and paper kinds you get at standard pho restaurants. I should really say that anybody thinking of coming here should throw any preconceived notions about pho restaurants out the window because they're not going to help here. In fact, it wasn't even pho that I ate and am writing a review for. The menu just looked too appealing to pass up, and as I flipped through its pages, it was a different kind of noodle that caught my eye. The rice vermicelli noodles are a bit more expensive than the pho, but that's because they're something entirely different. I had them for the first time in Paris, and I could order them in French but hadn't really seen them in the United States. I was actually wondering whether they were the same thing I had eaten and loved so much in France. And sure enough, they were! These are some of the best noodles I've ever eaten. If you've never had rice vermicelli noodles before, you wouldn't believe that anything this good was possible. I had my bowl with grilled thinly sliced short ribs, and they're every bit as delicious as they sound. Sure, they don't exactly go together well with noodles, since they're bony and thus finger food. But that's not an issue I'm asking the staff to fix. Along with all the other ingredients you'd normally find in a bowl of noodles, there are chopped peanuts out of all things. Now if you're allergic, that obviously means to stay away. But they really do a lot to enhance the flavor, and whoever thought up the idea is a genius. Another interesting bit is that the noodles come with a cup of sour juice dressing on top; it's actually not dipping sauce and is supposed to be poured directly onto the noodles. It's an authentic experience unlike anything you'd find at most other restaurants. It's interactive, and most importantly, it's FUN! Too often, I'm at restaurants and get so caught up in things like price that I don't remember that it's all about having fun. You won't have to worry about such issues because they don't exist here, and there aren't many deals so great in Seattle! read more

We used to go up Aurora to Than Bros. for pho. Now we're committed to Pho Viet Anh - because we can walk there. Where to start? How about the owner Henry. The most affable and accessible owner I've met. He's always happy to come out and chat, or make recommendations or suggest new items that aren't on the menu. He has brought us free desserts the last few times. I suppose we're regulars, so I don't expect everyone will get that treatment. I usually don't have to order, because he knows I'll get the "Mark's Special" - don't look for it on the menu, it's a large pho with the spicy broth, chicken and substitute veggies for noodles - it's a low carb home run. We've brought some of our Vietnamese friends here and they say the food is authentic. For kids, the noodle dishes are excellent. We're lucky to have Pho Viet Anh on Queen Anne! read more

The food was ok, but just ok. There are many more authentic Vietnamese restaurant around downtown Seattle. Important: Please make sure you check you bill before you pay. I ordered the lemongrass and onion prawn vermicelli. The menus showed ＄12.5 but they charged me ＄13.5 without any reason. I checked with them and they pulled out three more menus to confirm that and finally refund me one dollar. I asked them to refund me the whole thing then got me a new check, but they insisted on refunding me ＄1. I don't really care about that ＄1 but I did feel very uncomfortable. After reading rave reviews of Pho Viet Anh and having it bookmarked for months, I finally popped in for a quick bowl when I was in the area. It was promising - the decor is nice, no fish tanks or torn booths but instead a dark red color scheme and cozy tables. I was excited about the extensive menu and the different broth choices. However, I was immediately disappointed when I realized that you can ONLY get veggie pho with veggie or chicken broth. No beef broth for the veggie-eaters? Hint - chicken isn't veggie either! I ordered a small bowl of meatball pho with spicy beef broth. It came out quickly, steaming hot, but it was... just okay. The broth was spicy but it didn't have much other flavor, and the bowls were too small for the amount of noodles piled in them, making it hard to stir in condiments. A small bowl of pho here is nearly $8, and that's before tax and tip! Maybe I had my expectations set too high, but I found the pho here to be completely average, and the price far too steep. Tables and condiments are clean, however this place could use a little tlc. Service. Not one smile when entering from anyone-beginning, during service nor the end. However, Efficient and quick. They had combo bowls, but nothing to combine with tripe or tendon. These are $2 additional each. So, they were accommodating in making me a special request small pho with steak, tripe and tendon. All still for $8.95. That was nice. Otherwise. The small bowl would have been over $12 with those additions! Food. The small pho is huge and lots of noodles and meats. MThe bean sprouts, basil, jalapeño and lime are very fresh side accompaniments. Beef broth is very hot and flavorful. I personally didn't need to add condiments initially until the end just to additional spiciness with Siracha. I happened to finish the while bowl as well as drinking the broth AND I discovered a chewed up wad of gray paper in bottom of soup. Oh, dear. No idea what that was. Was the cook or server getting even with me for asking a special request? I wish I had taken a picture as well as asked what that was in the bottom of my bowl. Sigh. Price. The additions of tripe and tendon ($2 each addition) can make your price jump over $12! Yikes! $8.75 for a huge Small soup. A very mixed experience. My fellow Yelper's had give this such high marks, so we didn't mind waiting for a table. The menu looked great... We started off with fresh Spring Rolls and tea.. We then ordered our usual Vermicelli with Tofu and the large Combo Pho. The Pho arrived a good 10-15 minutes before my Vermicelli showed up.. As we looked around, other tables were having the same problem. People at tables were all getting their entres at different times. When the Vermicelli finally arrived, it was not served in the same pho size bowls as is typical, it was a huge platter instead, with very little tofu... mostly noodles and lettuce... The Pho had a very rich broth, but it was cold by the time we were waiting for everyone to get their food. The wait staff environment was not great... The manager was looking very annoyed and barking at the young waiter trying to keep up with the orders. With such a small restaurant, we were all aware that something was wrong.. Maybe just a bad night. We will try it again, but deintiely not as spectacular as the Yelp reviews led us to believe. read more

Looks like there was another change in owner/management so after that nightmarish experience that prompted me from dropping this place from 4 to 1 star, I decided to give them another shot. The new lady who runs the place is very nice, extremely attentive towards her customers and makes you feel welcome. The food has gone back to being awesome. The Spicy Pho with rare steak is fantastic. The veggie broth is very flavorful and the pho is loaded with veggies. The noodles are perfect and they do not skimp on the sides and garnishes. The fresh roll is not bad but I still miss the original one from 2 owners ago where they had that rolled fried tempura going through the roll adding that surprise element of crunch that set it apart from all the others. Overall I love the place again and have already been back three times in the last couple of weeks. Happy to see my favorite pho place back to its previous glory. Will continue going back here if they keep this up. My only single complaint with both the veg and beef broths is the amount of MSG that goes into them I really wish they would cut down on that or eliminate it altogether. The tingly sensation on the tongue and the immense thirst after gobbling down a bowl of pho is a clear indicator of too much MSG. Reasonably priced, large portions and really yummy. The place is rather small but quick turnover so I did not have to wait. I give them 4 stars for service which was really slow and not personable. Maybe I've just gotten to be a Pho snob, but the Pho I got here wasn't really up to my expectations which is really too bad because the atmosphere was quiet and really nice. There were nice soothing colors and the whole place was made up of 2- and 4-person tables which is a stark contrast to the brightly lit Pho restaurants with significant communal seating. The Pho came out way too hot and only after adding about a cup of Sriracha did the broth really have enough flavor. The veggies didn't appear to have been in the broth for any real amount of time so they provided an odd and somewhat jarring taste in combination with the slightly salty broth. Yum! My boyfriend and I came here when it was ten minutes before closing time. Instead of turning us away, they allowed us to stay in, order, and eat. I got the spicy pho with rare beef, and I thought the flavor was very good. The spice adds a little kick to the pho broth (which by itself is pretty tasty). They of course give you the plate of bean sprouts, basil leaves, and lime slices. The small and large bowls had like a $1.00 price difference, so I would probably opt to get a large so you can get more noodles and broth. The noodles were also cooked to the right consistency. One downside is that it is rather difficult to find parking in these zoned areas so be prepared to spend some time stalking people to their cars to try to park! read more
