I used to really like this place. The soup is always delicious. For the most part and it's conveniently located next to my optometrist. We went there yesterday and my husband got the bbq chicken rice plate. Now I know Covid has hit restaurants hard, but damn for $16 we got 1 chicken thigh and some little scrap pieces they try to spread out to make it look like two pieces. The food was good but definitely not good Vietnamese food to my standards and I know good Vietnamese food as I have been eating it for decades. I ordered the beef special pho. Good portion with plenty of noodle and fair amount of meat. The broth was very light tasting, almost watered down. The spring roll was decent with a very good peanut sauce. It wasn't fresh in terms of being made in spot. Most likely made earlier so little hard. All of this combined with a sofa limeade. Very good. I was looking for a delicious bowl of pho after the wife and I drove down to see a Beyonce concert at Levi's Stadium and this was one of the only places that were open early enough and had a lot of positive reviews so we gave it a try. I got the pho Tai and the broth was delicious, the noodles were perfectly cooked in the steak was tender and plentiful. We ordered for take out, our order was done within 10-15 minutes. Quick and easy pick up, the worker was very polite when handing me my order. I ordered the Vietnamese coffee, added boba, it's not as strong as I'd like but it's still really good. We also ordered bbq pork and shrimp with rice AND bbq pork and shrimp with vermicelli. At first glance, there were more pork with rice, seems like a lot of vermicelli noodles, however there's just a lot of bean sprouts and lettuce underneath. Both dishes were delicious, the bbq pork was seasoned very well, everything was super tasty. Sometimes we judge Vietnamese dishes by their fish sauce, and the fish sauce here, was almost perfect. Pho Viet is my place to go when I'm missing home a little more than usual. I love all of their pho, and their portions are huge! I believe that they are the only location in the area that has seafood pho, it's different from traditional pho, but sooo good! I love their eggrolls, especially because they're fresh to orders. My all time favorite dish is their bun tom thit nuong, the fish sauce is the perfect amount of savory. I come here everytime I crave Vietnamese cuisine. read more

This location of Pho Viet on 1st at Trimble is so convenient to my work, I can call in a to go order, and by the time I get there (1 1/2 miles away), my food is ready. I also go there by myself and with others for a quick lunch. #70 continues to be my favorite item, but other people like their pho. The mister raves about Pho Viet's bo kho aka Vietnamese beef noodle soup. He's been trying to get me to go dine in person and we finally did. It was really busy during lunch but we got a spot outside. I wanted to try it exactly how he eats it so I got it with egg noodles. He says everything from the broth to the tender meat is good. I make this at home and so does my mom so I already have something to compare it to. It comes out with egg noodles, meat & a few chunks of carrots and a side of bean sprouts, sprig of Thai basil and a lemon wedge. The broth was on the sweeter and lighter side than I'm used to. Typically this is a thicker stew that you dip with French bread. It wasn't bad but not what I expected. The meat cuts vary- some were super fatty and others were totally lean. I felt the lean pieces were too dry for me, it needs more marbling. By the time I was done, I had to immediately break out the floss picks lol. The carrots were cooked well, not super hard or soft but I wish there was more. Overall, I'd give it a 3/5 because I'd eat it again but I personally wouldn't come out of my way for it. read more

Thought about this for sometime and feel bad that restaurants are suffering, etc, but I think they are a solid 1+ stars, and a lot of the screw up is probably because of Grub Hub. So first, beware of Grub Hub, it's not a reliable system - we've had miscommunications multiple times. First visit, somehow the restaurant accepted my order and took payment - when I went the restaurant, it was locked down. WTF. Few days later, we ordered by just calling them on the phone. Upon arrival, food was ready to go - masked and gloved man took my payment, and I added a tip as if we were eating there. The food at home was like it was whatever they had left in the kitchen and that they were just salvaging whatever was left and probably cutoff regular shipments of fresh food and ingredients. The rare steak for my #1 combo Pho was putrid - definitely not fresh, tough to chew (this is the rare steak that was tough to chew). Actually, I had to spit out most of it before my teeth might have gotten damaged - the brisket was the same. Broth was bland. Egg noodles were okay. The spring rolls only had iceberg lettuce - no basil, I can't remember whether there was shrimp or not. The outer wrapping was like a hard plastic. Needless to say, my phone would not allow me to take any pictures. With so many other Pho options available in the area, please look elsewhere. I came here with some friends the other day to enjoy some lovely pho. They had outdoor seating with the tables appropriately spaced apart due to COVID. I got the chicken pho (#20 on the menu), and it was phenomenal. The service was also very friendly and attentive. The only thing that's driving this review towards 3 stars versus 4, is that there was tripe in my order. I did not see that in the description when ordering my chicken pho. It did not bother me much as I was able to take it out of my bowl, and I'm sure if I pointed that out, I would have gotten another bowl, but it's still something that caught me off guard. Pho Viet is located in North San Jose, in the same plaza as Dish & Dash. There are other restaurants in this plaza not worth mentioning. Let's get straight to the detail. The Pho was my least favorite. I didn't really like the broth, it lack depth. It didn't have a clean, smooth taste. The noodles were just average and meat quality was ok, not as tender. Service was just your basic service, take order, drop food off and pay at the counter. You find better places in East San Jose if your in the area otherwise your just going to settle with Pho Viet. read more

This is my go to Pho place for years . I've been here several dozen times and the consistency is always on point. The servers even remember me. What I really love was the take out option. They keep the broth piping hot and separate so you mix when your settled and ready. I do love the sidewalk seating options. Even during the busiest lunch rushes they move quickly. I don't think I've ever waited more than 5 minutes. It's a tight ship here. Parking is a headache at high noon weekdays so I arrive at 11:30 or wait till 1:00 so it's more peaceful. read more

Finally back at my desk, I logged onto SAP and our database and began to demolish the spring rolls. The rice paper was rolled up neatly and tightly, the vermicelli noodles, the lettuce, and the tofu was enough to actually fill me up w/o giving me that remorseful feeling. The spring roll itself was very bland... perhaps the tofu was not seasoned at all? The peanut dipping sauce that came w/ it was sweet, creamy, and thick. I loved it. The pho here is really good. This should not be surprising since PHO literally the first word in their name. haha. That being said, the pho is good. The soup was very flavorful and can you tell it's been cooking for several hours. The noodle was cooked just right. It was soft but not falling apart. I really like the fact that they still has a bit of chewiness to them. I ordered a combination and there was lots of meat in this. The portion was really big and filling. This is a good combination pho with plenty of rare steak, roasted beef, tendon, and a bunch of other types of meats. This was very tasty. The produce was also clean and fresh. I also liked the fact that the soup was really hot so even after all the produce, the soup was still hot. I know that at some places, the soup isn't as hot so once you've added the sprouts, the soup becomes luke warm. That was not the case here. This was super hot. Instead of ordering the traditional beef tendon with brisket Pho, I decided to try something different this time. I got the large Bo Kho--the beef stew with carrot with pho noodles and a thai tea with boba drink. I ordered a large because I was super hungry and it came out in no time. To me, the soup was very tasty and didn't need Sriracha or lime, just bean sprouts. The meat was pretty tender but the carrots were a bit too undercooked for my taste. Since they were big chunks, it should have been stewed in longer to get that melt-in-your-mouth texture that's expected in stew. The bowl was so big I think I just jumped in and ate my way out. Somehow someway, I managed to eat all of it, but I felt the dehyration of the MSG by 2pm. My hunger was tamed and I waddled back to my car back to work. Used to come here all the time when I was younger with my parents and the pho always tasted pretty decent with no msg added (at least not in the morning). I came again today with my mom and the broth tasted fresh, came at 11am. White meat chicken is pretty dry but you could always substitute for the dark meat chicken. Originally ordered the dark meat but receive the white meat and the server was super nice about everything and brought out the dark meat chicken with broth on the side. I didn't mind and told her it was okay but she brought it out and apologize. 5 for service! Their egg rolls are crispy, hot, and delicious. I suggest those for appetizer. This was the first Pho place I have eaten at when I moved to California. It still is one of my favorites. Their seafood soup with yellow vermicelli and their pork and shrimp with vermicelli are excellent. The fish sauce they serve with their entrees is finger-licking good. Ordered through Doordash at 11:35a in order to have it by 12:15p lunch period. At 12:05p, I received a notice from Doordash that the restaurant had canceled my order. There was no reason specified. I just wished that if they couldn't fulfil my order, they had called, canceled or let me know sooner so I could make other arrangements. Now, due to work, I won't be able to eat until I have another break in the afternoon. Pray for my coworkers! I can't speak on the quality of the food unfortunately. I ordered BBQ pork vermicelli and an order of egg rolls. The price for BBQ pork vermicelli was $12.37 and egg rolls $6.97. When I went to pay, I was charged $14 for vermicelli and $8 for eggrolls. When I asked why I am being charged more, she told me the online system isn't updated. Well... that's not my fault. Rather than giving good customer service and honoring the online price, she told me "next time order online if you want that price". Wow! I understand that COVID has impacted small businesses but that doesn't mean giving awful customer service. The food was okay. I've had better. Will never come back here! read more

Seeing neighbor had the BO` KHO - Vietnamese Beef stew with carrot, and serve with pho noodle, looked good. I had to order it.
