My boyfriend is obsessed with place, the Kimchi fries are his favorite. The kimchi is spicy so we ask for it on the side. We also get the mama bulgogi which we both really like. I love their mango drink it doesn't have boba but it has mango chucks which is better in my opinion. I've come 2 times this week so far. The owner is very nice. Me and the roommates came here after a show and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. We ordered the kimchi fries (pictures) and 2 of the bibimbap bowls--bulgogil, spicy pork. The food is pricier than your average Korean food (thus the drop in star) but we were not disappointed by our orders. First timer here. I ordered a ton of food for my picky and varied family: 1. Chicken dumplings - the best I've ever had. Dumplings can often be very tasteless unless they are fried and dipped in a ton of salty/sweet sauce. These fried dumplings were bursting with flavor. Didn't need any extra sauce. They also offer beef and veggie dumplings, FYI. 2. Chicken Phuh - it was a hit. Flavorful and plentiful. 3. Bulgogi Fries - These are an excellent appetizer idea. Spicey and heavy tho. Definitely meant to be shared. 3 or 4 bites is just right. 4. Bahn Mi's - I ordered a fried chicken and a fried cod fish. Both went over well - the fish was the clear favorite tho. The ONLY recommendation I have on this is adding a tang factor. The spicey mayo was good but maybe a tangier pickled veggie or something citrus-y/vinegary. Finger-lickin goodt! Will order again. 5. The popcorn chicken was a smash! Sooo crunchy, well seasoned (but not salty!), and actual chunks of meat inside. Not some mush. My family tore these up. 6. Sweetened mango oolong tea with real mango, lemon, and lime. This was just delicious and it was a hot day so the sweet mango tea went down just right over ice. But it is pricey! $7! That's dang near an appetizer. But I'll be getting it again next week. The restaurant itself isn't set up for a huge party but it has half a dozen or so tables to seat 2 and 4. Nice interior - spotless and well kept. The service was excellent. I saw them deal with 2 customers that acted like they had never entered a restaurant before and Phuhroo staff didn't slip. I was more annoyed. Luckily, Phuhroo's music playlist slaps so I danced a little while I waited and that chilled me out. We will definitely become regulars here. read more

Craving pho, I've had the decision to make between Phuhroo and Pho Saigon a few times. I usually go with the latter but when my mom was in town I decided it was time to try the former. The fusion menu is what kept me away but it's what intrigued me this particular night. The bulgogi bahn mi just looked like something I should be eating. There's plenty of parking in this area of Hackensack and we quickly realized this is more of a takeout joint than dine-in, though there are a few tables. We ordered at the counter and took a seat to wait for our food. I mention this because there was a party that came in, had a seat, and expected a menu and that someone would take their order. That's just not how it works here and there are signs that make that obvious. While we were waiting we received complimentary fried potstickers which was nice. I ordered the bulgogi bahn mi with a side of spicy broth (they have a combo with pho but I couldn't do all that). The presentation was beautiful. The eating process was a little messier. The bahn mi comes wrapped in foil-lined paper and I noticed that the foil flakes off so be careful when eating. I'd suggest just taking it out of the foil but I'd also suggest the restaurant just change out their wrapping choice. The broth was piping hot and sufficiently spicy. Very good on a cold day. My mom ordered the tortilla ssam which are basically tacos. Keep in mind you can't mix and match meats. Overall we had a good and filling meal and I would definitely return for that bulgogi. When I saw this place on Yelp, I was very excited given all the great reviews this place received. My excitement turned into disappointment very quickly. My group of friends and I needed a quick dinner and were craving asian food, so since this was only two blocks away and had stellar reviews, we figured why not. We order 2 original-beef broth "phuh"s, 1 spicy-beef broth "phuh", 1 kimchi and bacon fried rice, 1 bulgogi kimchi fries, and 1 popcorn chicken. Ordering was harder than expected since 1) they did not pick up the phone first two times and 2) when trying to order, communication was really lacking as the person didn't really seem to understand the menu, especially when I asked what sauces came with the popcorn chicken. When I arrived to pick up the food, I saw that they charged me for the two sauces that came with the chicken. I was unpleasantly surprised that the chicken didn't come with at least one sauce since 1) they list a bunch of sauces on the menu right under the popcorn chicken, implying that sauces come with it and 2) there was no mention of charges for sauces. I argued that at least one sauce should be free, but the worker and chef/owner both said no. I'm spending over $70 and you can't throw in a free sauce? Lame. But after I arrived home and opened the food, I was shocked (in a bad way) at how egregious the price-gouging here is. First off, the "phuh" did not come with any meat whatsoever. We were so confused at first and thought that they forgot to include the meat. We sadly assumed the "phuh" would come with meat and that the $4 charge that appears on the menu was for extra meat. Nope. We just paid $10 for bland soup, noodles, bean sprouts, and a few onions. It's really a crime to charge that much for just noodle soup with a few vegetables. Actual pho places charge $10 for more authentic pho that comes with beef! The soup base was really bland and nowhere near authentic pho and the spicy version was oily and still had no flavor. The bean sprouts and onions however did seem fresh so that was good to see. The popcorn chicken was honestly one of the worst pieces of chicken I've ever had. It was clear that the pieces were cooked a while ago and then refried or reheated, because the chicken was super tough and dry and the outside was not crispy at all. The sauces I paid for were nothing special too. Just plain ranch and bbq sauce. $8 for a small portion of bad popcorn chicken is not good. The kimchi fried rice was decent, but it was pretty oily and didn't have much kimchi or bacon in it...just a lot of rice. The egg on top was cooked well though. The kimchi bulgogi fries were also ok. I asked for crispy fries and some were successfully crispy, but again, the kimchi and bulgogi were hard to find in the dish so it just felt like I was eating fries for $12. I hate to be this critical for a new establishment, but it upsets me when it's clear that an establishment is looking to make a quick dollar rather than focus on delivering quality food. The store interior was chic and their packaging was good quality and nice, but focusing on superficial qualities is no way to gather a strong customer following. I do think this place has potential to be a solid neighborhood option, but the owner(s) could probably use some help in the kitchen! read more

It's not often that a Vietnamese place is open past midnight. Came in here after a tennis tournament, and did not disappoint. The owners were very friendly and gave us free samplings of fried dumplings (delicious). I ordered the bulgogi bahn mi and a small spicy pho - both were packed with flavor. Phuroo is conveniently set up RIGHT next to the the Hackensack train station and a very welcomed addition to the area. While I do love me some Pho Saigon a few miles away, Phuroo brings a different flavor profile to the mix. They catfish banh-mi is my go-to sandwich which is pretty filling, but for lunch you can also add a side pho. I picked the spicy pho and while the price point may be slightly higher than most Pho places, the quality of their soup and food is really good. I've ordered here probably close to 8 times already and the people who work here are super nice and appreciative of the business. Keep up the good work, Phuroo! read more

Came here Friday night for impromptu dinner around 6:30pm. There's only 4 tables and counter seating - not much space but OK for small groups. The place could use some updating - feels a little old and outdated. But the food was pretty good and portions are pretty big for entrees! I ordered the vegetable phuh- very filling and I could only finish half! Loved the variety of veggies in here but could've had more tofu. Also had the veggie dumplings as an appetizer and they were delicious! Would definitely order takeout from this place but probably not going to eat at the actual restaurant again. read more

Such a cute little space and very good food. There were a few tables for dine in but we got our food to go. Had the bulgogi and it was plentiful and really tasty. Shared with my daughter and I still have leftovers. We also had spicy ramen- he made it just as she asked - plain but spicy. She enjoyed it. My mom and I came together to eat on site. There were three tables, one of which is long and good for a group of 8. At first, I had to get their attention at the front desk, and they did come out and took our orders. (Order at the front desk, and they will bring the food to you.) I love the pho, which was very big! My mom and I could share the bowl. Broth was great, and there was a lot in it. The kimchi fried rice was freshly steamed white rice tossed around with maybe a tablespoon of gochujang and raw bacon until it became rubbery enough to be called edible. Being Vietnamese, I am a hard critic when it comes to Vietnamese cuisine since I've grew up eating it homemade and back in the motherland. This is what I have to say, DON'T come here if you're expecting Vietnamese Pho. The "phuh" here is nowhere near the same as the Vietnamese Pho. This is a Korean establishment, so DO try their bulgogi mam ma. Their bulgogi is not too sweet, which I honestly prefer. They also provided complimentary fried dumplings on the house which was nice. Not sure if it's a promotion thing or if it's indeed complimentary. Their staff is super friendly, which is saving the rating to be quite honest. There's like 4 tables in the restaurant, so it's more of like a takeout joint. Unfortunately, I came here craving pho, and my craving was not satisfied. Although it looked esthetically pleasing, the flavor was lacking. I usually don't use sriracha or hoisin in my pho, but this broth here really needed it. I got the spicy one which had a little kick, but the honestly the hoisin made it better. I really should've gotten their korean dishes, but that was my mistake. This place is a hidden gem! We discovered it today and had The. Best. Meal. Ever. It's not a typical Vietnamese place... more like Vietnamese and Korean fusion... oh so good. What was pleasantly surprising was that we came on a Saturday but was able to order things off the lunch special menu (usually reserved for the weekdays at other food places).. Good thing, because we were indecisive and the lunch combos allowed us to get a variety. We ended up getting the kimchi bulgogi fries, kimchi bacon fried rice, bulgogi bahn mi, spicy pho, fried dumplings, spicy pork bowl. ALL were spot on in terms of flavor and the portions were great. We also got the fruit tea which was so so refreshing. My kids commented that it was like bubble tea but better and probably better for you. Everything tasted so fresh and homemade. The fish was crispy and the bread was toasted. The kimchi fried rice and pho were piping hot.
