Piaggio? Chimichurri! Piaggio On Wheels, a food truck that does the Chimichurri. I haven't had chimichurri that often, so this looked promising. The truck owner was walking around displaying his daily special: a pork osso bucco over butternut squash. Naturally, I was drawn in by seeing someone actually walking around trying to get customers, as I sympathize for them. Not wanting to break the bank, I opted for just a chicken empanada, which came with a side of their chimichurri sauce. I cannot lie - it's a great snack. I wasn't too sure about the rest of their menu though. As for the chimichurri sauce, it seemed very oily. The sauce did taste great, but I can do without all the oil. This food truck is stupid good and ruining my mission to try more food trucks. I like hitting up the OC Great Park Farmers Market (mostly for the food trucks), and I always tell myself I am going to try something new. Then I keep going back to Piaggio. The pulled pork sliders are surprisingly delicious. I usually like pulled pork to be drenched in barbecue sauce. Piaggio serves theirs dry with a little chimichurri sauce, but it works because the flavor of the pork is fantastic. A pleasant smoky flavor (not too much) and moistness. Their tacos have good flavor, but could use some more sauce to add a little moistness. I have tried the steak and pork, and while both had great flavor, they were both a little too dry and needed something extra to make it more pleasantly palatable. The empanadas are my favorite thing by far. They have chicken or caprese and both are extremely tasty. The chicken is savory whereas the caprese is rich and gooey. Would be nice if they were a little larger, and you could buy them individually. Currently, you have to buy them in quantities of 2. My husband always goes for the Tres Amigos Burrito. Filled with skirt steak, pork, and shrimp, it's more meat than anything else. A great burrito if you love meat and have a hearty appetite. The food is decently priced as compared to OC restaurant prices and is always hot and fresh. It can take a little while to get your order sometimes, I have waited before while 5+ other orders past mine were called before my food was ready. But it is always worth the wait. read more

I never say no to expanadas, so I had to try their chicken empanadas last week. Sad to say, I wasn't at all impressed. The filling didn't seem to have any flavor, except the over powering taste of onion, so when eaten w/ the shell, seemed a little bland. The chimichurri sauce tasted great, but it is not supposed to carry the dish. They also gave me a sample of the pulled pork for their sliders which although was tender, also lacked flavor. The sweetness of the hawaiian roll it is supposed to come with might help bring out the flavors, but I wasn't willing to try. Went to the SOCO Farmers Market today just for this food truck, and in hopes of finding some organic kale to make kale chips. I've been looking for an Argentinian food truck just like the one I went to when I was in New Zealand last year for the rugby world cup, and I found this one on yelp. So delish! This was our first time trying this food truck, so my husband and I split a bunch of food...we had brunch. We tried the sausage, pulled pork sliders, the porker sandwich, chicken empenadas and chicken tacos (we were starving, and would not be eating until dinner). Everything was sooooooo good. Our fav was the slider...pulled pork on a hawaiian roll toppped with chimichuri sauce. My gosh they were like heaven. We had a chance to meet Mr. Piaggio himself, and he was the nicest guy. If you like sausage, trying his is a must! He makes his own from scratch with his own recipe. It was to die for! Empanadas, fries and churros. Chicken and Caprese empanadas were really good. Flaky crust, moist and flavorful chicken filling on the inside. The caprese ingredients were a nice contrast from the chicken - fresh cheese and basil filled delights. Fries were...meh, just crispy fries. Churros were ok. The sauce made it a step up from the microwave variety but no where close to the kind I get at the Redondo Beach Pier. Save your dessert funds for something else. read more

I've gotten the skirt steak burrito ($7) twice and I haven't been disappointed. It's definitely not a fatty Chipotle sized burrito, but it isn't skimpy either. If I was super hungry, I'd probably get a burrito and maybe fries or something. They also give you a kind of salsa and a lime to enjoy your burrito with, which I liked, too. I don't like beans, though, so I'll probably ask them to take that out next time. The other reviews are pretty on point and I'm geting lazy because I'm getting hungry. read more

I had high hopes for this food truck but overall, this food truck is overrated, overpriced, and service is lacking. We ordered the chicken empanadas, pulled pork sliders, and skirt steak burrito. Paid $21 in total for all 3. Waited a good while for our food too. The chicken empanadas were ultra greasy and pulled pork sliders were super salty. Didn't give it full 5 stars, because the three different occasions I ordered the Churros, they were out. No, not sold out, more like not in stock, which sucks! This truck is consistently at a place near my work. They consistently have the shortest line, if they even have a line. Decided to give it a try. Just Above Average as far as flavor. Very pricey $7 for two tiny two bite empanadas. That means 1.75 per bite! Same with the $7 for two pork sliders. Being generous with two stars as I reserve 1 stars for extremely bad and this was very close... But I know why they don't have a line at their truck. I'd come back if they figured out portion size. $14 bucks and I still had to go to another truck to feel full. read more

The skirt steak quesedilla and the Empanadas are the bomb. Step one-chase down the food truck and tow it to my area. Step two, put a boot on it so it can NEVER leave! Since neither of these two steps will ever happen, some things are worth tracking down, this food truck is definitely one of them. Yummy!! I always have THE hardest time figuring out what to get from food trucks. There are so many of them and they have so many options! However, yesterday at the SoCo Farmer's Market I decided on Piaggio for lunch. I got two chicken tacos. Perfect size. Delicious filling, whatever pink sauce was on there was so yummy and they were just the right amount of spicy. A little messy but hey what good food isn't. And the best part is the chicken is grilled and so moist. If I spot these guys out again, I'll be sure to hit them up and you should too! read more

Passed by this truck in Irvine with a bunch of other food trucks, got recommended to try this one out specifically from a friend so I did. I saw pork sliders on Hawai'ian bread... Two things in life I don't think I could live without! It had the usual "bit over inflated" price tag of a food truck, but I didn't mind. It was new and I wanted to try it out. Got the pulled pork sliders and chimichurri fries, both were amazingly flavorful and well made. I've only had chimichurri once before and it was top quality, this definitely landed near that if not matched it. The pork was moist, succulent, and seasoned/sauced well without drowning out other main flavors. Only bad thing is that the portions are really small for the price, two small sliders for $6? Good enough to entice me once, but I'm not 100% sure again. But I'm glad I had it. read more

I used Piaggio to cater an event that I had at a clients showroom. They worked with me on the menu and budget and I was very happy with the food and the speed of service, there was no long-line bottleneck, which I was a little worried about. They also did some tray passed appetizers inside the showroom before starting dinner service. Over all it was a great experience and they were VERY easy to work with. The only small change I would make is since they were tray passing it would have been good to be dressed a little more professionally. Also, the presentation on the tray passed apps wasn't the greatest, as this was a bit of a more high end event, but all in all I was happy with the service and food and felt like it was a great value for the price! read more

This had such good ratings, I was expecting much better =/ I guess the quality of the meat was better than usual but the burrito had no flavor/oomph to it. Ive had this truck twice. First time wasn't very memorable, but second time must be the charm. We had: empanadas (chicken and caprese): both are DELISH. The portion is a good size (I thought they'd come out dinky, but they didn't) and the flavors are excellent. I can't even decide on a fav bc both are so good and different. chicken milanesa sandwich: Good! It wasn't super duper great, but I liked it. Last night I went with a friend to the truck in The Park by the Irvine Spectrum. We decided to eat at Piaggio instead of the other truck there, the Burnt Truck. I had the Porker sandwich, which was fantastic. The meat was very tender and the other ingredients (blue cheese, a roasted red pepper, and some of their special parsely based sauce) made for a very tasty experience. The fries were also very crispy and I was given a very generous portion for the $2 I paid. My friend was equally impressed. He had the skirt steak quesedilla and some bacon wrapped hot dogs. I tried a bit of both and they were very good. Prices were reasonable (compared to the Burnt Truck). My meal was $12 for the sandwhich, fries, and a (giant) bottled coke. While waiting for our food we chatted with the owner and he seemed very passionate about the business. Overall the staff was very pleasant as well. My only criticism was that the food was a bit on the greasy side, but it did not come as a surprise based on my previous food truck experiences. read more

We sniffed this a while back at High-Time wine store in Costa Mesa. The chimichurri fries were majorly lacking in chimi sauce. One of my pet peeves is fries that are labeled "gourmet" but it is essentially a novelty item that fails to live up to expectations. That being said, the skirt steak tacos are very good. We tried this food truck out for the first time at the UCI Alumni weekend. Great menu and pricing! We had pulled pork burrito - delish, skirt steak bowl (low carb style) and chicken bowl. All three were very yummy! We received awesome service by Roxanne- she was very accommodating and nice!! I would definitely look for this food truck again or have them cater an event at Jungle Fitness OC (the gym I work out at - even better idea!!) My employer sent me to work in Redondo Beach for 3 days and today is the second day. It has been a good experience thus far, plus a food truck such as Piaggio On Wheels came by the office today, which added points to this experience. I was going to order a pulled pork slider and a fries on the side but I was suggested to the pulled pork over fries. It was $9 and totally worth it. The pork was delicious, not dry at all, it also added so much flavor to the fries. I poured all of the Chimichurri I was given to the pork over fries and then regret it because it turned out to be just a little too oily. They have a lot more other Argentine staples to choose from such as empanadas and milanesa a caballo etc. I will try their other things on the menu another time. read more

We ordered 2 gaucho fries, because the picture looked awesome. "Ok, $32." WTF!? Really, you should put the price on the pictures, because I tried to find it on the menu and the menu was kind of vague. Maybe it was me being hungry, maybe it was meant to be that way. I do t know. We were starving and are kinda limited on what we can eat, so I just paid and hoped they'd be the best freakin' fries of all time. And they were pretty good - but, where's the beef? Two and half pieces of my steak were just fat. Gross. The chimichurri sauce was a bit more coarse than what I've had in the past, but tasted good. The amount of fries and steak given to us was not representative of how much the guy told us it would be. It could've used a bit more steak. The 3 stars are for the food, because other than the fat, it was good. $16 a pop good? Probably not! read more

I've only been here once, so maybe I missed out on something really great, but the food here was just okay. I really believe that if you're eating at a food truck, you should get a lot of bang for your buck. After all they are not providing you with a place to eat, and don't have to pay any rent. That's kind of the point of these things right? I got their pork sliders and a burrito. Their sliders were pretty good, but for 5 bucks I think you should get much more food. You can go to Subway and get a foot long sub for 5 bucks. Yeah, subway sucks, but it still has to pay for advertisement and rent, and they usually give you a place to sit. The burrito had three meats and was pretty decent size, but the burrito just wasn't that good. The first couple bites were nothing but bland black beans and rice. Then came some bland shrimp bites. Then came some pretty delicious skirt steak bites. Then a huge gob of melted cheese appeared with some kind of pot roast type of meat. The salsa was good but they only gave me a little container of it. Like I said, I've only been here once so there's probably some better stuff to try. read more

I got two tacos (one fish, one tofu, $5), two bacon hot dogs ($5), and the Chimichurri fries ($3). Tacos were okay, definitely overpriced. Hot dogs were really good! Definitely more worth the money. The fries were retarded until I asked for some extra Chimichurri sauce and dijon sauce. After I put those on, the fries were amazing. They basically just put Chimichurri and dijon sauce on all their stuff, and it's pretty good. I do not recommend the tacos though, their other stuff I'm assuming is much better. read more

I was trying to sample a few trucks at the OC fairgrounds, so I limited myself the pork sliders. Somewhat apprehensive of the other ingredients, there was no need to be. Food truck day at work today and this week was Piaggio. Not gonna lie, I was a little concerned by so many bad reviews but decided to try it anyway. Had the Milanesa a Caballo. This left me wondering...did we have the same truck? Super yummy. Crunchy but juice chicken, crisp fries with a generous amount of chimmichurri with two eggs on top. This truck was at the L.A. County Fair recently. Let me say, for the quality and quantity of food you get, it is way overpriced! My mom got the 2 sliders with chimichurri fries and they cost $9!!!! The fact that they have vegetarian offerings is amazing! It's so often a hit or a miss with a food truck like this, so I was delighted to have real choices. The Caprese empanada was pretty good, light and refreshing, though it probably could have stood to drain a pit of the fried oil off. Really, that's just grasping at straws. If you find yourself in front of the truck, that's what you should order. However, I would recommend you not find yourself in front of the truck. There is a distinct lack of seasoning throughout the food. My friend said her steak tacos were boring and tasteless, and that they were stingy on the meat despite paying $7 for two small tacos. The french fries tasted like they had a bit of salt but not enough to bring out the taste of the potato. In addition, the chimichurri was beautiful in appearance, but all that you noticed were the parsley stems when eating it. They took over the texture of the sauce. I'm not saying you can't have the stems of the parsley, but a smaller dice would serve better to lose that stringy toughness, especially when poured over fries that weren't broad enough to support the width of the leaves and stems. It wasn't even a sauce, really, it came off as a salad. The owner seemed nice and really cared about his business. That kind of passion goes very far with me, but in the end, I ended up a little bummed with the flavors, and I really, really wanted to like it. read more

I've had the pleasure of eating from this Argentinian truck a few times and have never been let down. I'm a big fan of there Pulled pork sliders which consist of a sweet hawaiian bun & some extremely delicious chimichurri & pink sauce. After my last visit, im sold! I have also given there desert a try which is the Churros con de leche. This too was also very delectable. I have a feeling I'll be checking off menu items left & right in the weeks to come. They also are pretty quick on the grill so the wait isnt bad at all, at least from my past experiences. Piaggio on Wheels was the first food truck we saw when when arrived at the SoCo Farmer's Market this weekend. As soon as my BF saw that they had Milanesa sandwiches, he had to stop and get one. I was really trying to save myself for a lobster roll at Lobsta Truck, but when I saw the Milanesa sandwich and was offered half, I took it :). Yum! This sandwich had two thin, breaded, fried chicken cutlets, nicely seasoned, with, lettuce, tomato, mayo and chimichurri. Wow, for $6, it was a humongous, delicious sandwich and so worth the price. Eating half of it made me full! BF who has an Argentinian friend, and has had Milanesas before, declared this one superb. They also had bottled cane sugar Coca-Cola also which was awesome! The woman who helped us was so nice. They had some many great things on the menu like empanadas, Argentine sausage sandwiches, burritos Porteno and churros with dulce de leche that I want to definitely sample when I seek out this truck for a second foray into their Argentinian food! read more

The Porker Sandwich is as good as it gets out of a food truck! I'm not a huge bread eater, so I enjoyed this delicious and tender pork minus the bun. Piaggio told me he uses the most flavorful cut of pork. It was served with a mild blue cheese that did not overwhelm the meat, and some roasted bell peppers. All in all, a memorable and tasty dish. The empanadas are a must, but must be consumed piping hot for the full effect. Piaggio himself is a delight, and a true example of a chef who is passionate about his Argentinian cuisine. read more

Piri Piri sauce, I like saying it. It's a delicious cilantro concoction. Argentinean Sausage sandwich was all they had left on the menu due to popularity of their other items. I was perfectly satisfied with the sandwich. It was served on a nice chewy roll with a cilantro piri piri sauce on top. The sausage had a nice bite to it. Yummy, Yummy. read more

finally ate there yesterday. they were off Charter & Irvine Center Drive. For only $3 I got a combo empanada and taco. Normally $5! The caprese empanada was gooey and deep fried. My skirt steak taco had a nice kick of chimichurri. It was the last OC location for the afternoon, so they were running out of stuff like zucchini and one of the taco fillings by the time I got there. I got what I wanted though. Be sure to check out the specials before ordering....oh yeah, and be careful when taking your order, I spilled red sauce on my sleeve because I tipped my container a little when they handed it off. read more
