I ordered the meatball sandwich and it was awful. The bread was not toasted , the cheese was not melted and the meatballs were terrible. I tried to get a refund from Uber Eats and they told me to call the restaurant. I called the restaurant and they told me to talk to Uber. The man on the phone was very rude. I even asked if I could just get a credit for a sandwich for another day, I'm talking about 8 BUCKS. DO NOT waste your money on the meatball sandwich and in my opinion a place that could care less about thier customers. read more

I walked in on a Saturday morning and ordered the Cielo Panini and the Dolce di Parma 13" on baguette, grilled. I stood there for 15 minutes YES... FIFTEEN MINUTES a he made these sandwiches. There were no other customers. Just me. Two sandwiches. 15 minutes. It was not worth the wait. In fact, not only do I feel like I just wasted 15 minutes of my life, but also $17 of my hard earned money. The Cielo panini is described to be: Genoa salami, Italian copa, grilled zucchini, roasted red peppers with Jarlsberg cheese spread of tapenade and drizzle of balsamic vinegar. Mine didn't have grilled zucchini nor balsamic vinegar and if there was tapenade in there, it had zero flavor. But probably the most annoying aspect of this panini is that the cheese was 100% unmelted. This is a grilled panini. I waited 15 minutes. The cheese really should have been melted. Also, the bread was either too hearty --or more likely, just cut too thick. It hurt my teeth to bite. The Dolce di Parma was a little better, but not great. It is described on the menu as "Prosciutto di parma, sun dried tomatoes, basil, fresh mozzarella, pesto, oil and vinegar or tapenade." Mine was only missing one of the promised ingredients -- the basil. But I guess I hardly noticed it's absence since I did order it spread with pesto. I didn't like the pesto; it seemed manufactured and not fresh. I was similarly displeased with the prosciutto --it was rubbery and had an "off" flavor. And the "fresh mozzarella" on this sandwich was actually just those tiny not so fresh mozzarella balls. These don't work well in a sandwich. A nice wide slice of a real fresh mozzarella ball would be so much more palatable. The small balls just felt a like a cheap knock-off to real, fresh mozzarella. Service was friendly. Sandwiches disappointing. Might be a while before I return. read more

So many reviewers have already called this place a gem so I won't repeat it. But it is. They've also said it has delicious food, is a great value, and has friendly service. Also all true. I've been going for years and am never disappointed. I love that I can get some fantastic, fresh sandwiches for lunch and also stock up for dinner and future meals. And yes, I did say sandwiches...plural...b/c I have several favorites and order them all. Love the leftovers. While I'm there I pick up soup, lasagne, ravioli etc for other meals. Such handy items to freeze for later. The meat lasagne is some of the best I've had. The chianti braised brisket ravioli is also on the top of my list. Cute little Italian sandwich shop in Andersonville. The ingredients are all very fresh and of great quality. I always get the vegetarian sandwich. It's very filling and loaded with flavors and veggies. You will not miss the meat. My son has gotten the chicken Parmesan (delicious and HUGE) and the smoked salmon bagel - also amazing. The shop has a lot of on site made soups, salads and pastas available for purchase. You can also get deli meats, condiments and cheeses to take home. They have a lot of imported oils, drinks, chocolates, pastas, sauces and seasonings as well as interesting juices and sodas (I got a rose soda with was very refreshing and light). I've heard good things from friends about their soups too, but haven't gotten a chance to try them yet! Finally stopped in after passing by a million times, and very glad I did! It's a small store with a limited selection of imported packaged goods and a huge deli counter with a great selection of sandwiches. The prices are very reasonable, the sandwiches are big, and the ingredients were quality. It's not particularly organized, and I saw a few regulars come in that were encouraged to skip to the front of the line, but I don't really hold that against them, rather, I'd recommend becoming a regular too! I have been searching for a good Italian sub shop on the north side and can comfortably say I found it. It's on the level with Grazianos or Bari, but with lower prices. We've been ordering from Piatto Pronto for over a year now. We LOVE their sandwiches. I always get the Il Milano and my husband switches it up. Since the pandemic, we've also ordered a few groceries with our sandwich orders. The food is always delicious and the delivery fast. Our last delivery had a few errors (first time this has happened). Still great sandwiches, still great service. A few months ago, I noticed that our beloved seven-grain salad was missing from the deli case, and I mentioned it to the owner. He recommended a tri-color chickpea and wheatberry salad which was just as good and is now our #1a favorite side from P.P. You cannot go wrong with either. This is also a good spot for pickles, although you may not think of an Italian grocery/deli as a pickle mecca. (Agrosik is a good brand that I haven't seen in most other shops.) Trust me, they have a lot of imported specialty food items here, so if you find yourself in Andersonville needing fancy vinegar or olive oil, an exotic sauce of some kind, a European cookie, a preserved vegetable, or anything of that ilk, try Piatto Pronto. But to me their bedrock will always be fantastic sandwiches and those two delicious sides. read more

This place is the BOMB. Oh my gosh. First time eating there was today. I ordered two sandwiches to-go: the Grainder and the Big Easy. Both were PHENOMENAL! The chips they have are GMO free and gluten free and absolutely delicious!!!! I ordered 2 twelve inch sandwiches and a 5 oz bag of chips. Total was like $18 for everything. The sandwiches were incredible. Flavorful, full of quality ingredients. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Mmmmmm. Mike, the owner, is the man! We went in there by accident on the first day it opened. I was looking for some yogurt because edgewater produce didn't have any. I told him I liked the yogurt to be thick and not grainy, he told me to open the one I was looking at and taste it. If I didn't like it, I didn't have to buy it. I ended up liking it, and buying it! Ever since then we've been hooked. I had a salami sub sandwich the other day and it was simple and delicious--just how I like it. Their selection keeps growing everyday, and the people that work there are amazingly friendly and funny. Four stars is very good right? We were there on 12/9/10. The two subs we had were very good but not great. The bread was to dense for my tastes and there could have been a few more slices of meat so it gets four stars. But very good, very fresh! There is one table for two to eat in, if that's occupied its the car or the curb depending on the weather for sure. When we were leaving we asked the guys behind the counter if they would throw out our sandwich wrappers in their garbage since there was nothing in the store. The guy says "so now I'm the garbage man?" Very funny! This place is going on my best sub list. This was the last place my son and I had lunch before his untimely death. Amazing spot. I discovered it by accident after Mr. Submarine closed on Foster and Lincoln which previously had been my go to spot for a decade. I had their Milano sandwich 12inch. It was incredible the bread was crisp and the ingredients were fresh and very tasty. I'm sorry I didn't discover them sooner. This blows away all the other sub places, Subway, Mr. Submarine, Jimmy Johns and any others I haven't mentioned. Im a big potbelly fan. I love the big wreck. I stopped in here and got the Amy's Favorite and added roast beef. I got a footlong and the sandwich was enormous. The sandwich had more meat and came out cheaper than a big wreck with double meat. This is my new sandwich shop I will be going back very soon. They slice the meat on the spot. Compared to other sandwich shops, yeah this place is good. But don't mistake it for JP Graziano or Bari. Also nowhere near the quality of Jersey style Italian subs. The bread is my biggest critique. I ordered my Milano on ciabatta but got some sort of wonder bread like French roll. Sorta like the Subway rolls. The subs need more chewiness/bite. The cold cuts are sliced very thinly which is a plus. But there should be more meat on the sub. Charge more if you have to. Also more of the condiments like tomato and lettuce, oil/vinegar. But since this is the only place in the far north side of Chicago the only place I know with decentish quality. Hence the three star rating. Side note, if you're ever in central New Jersey you must check out what Italian subs really are. Homemade mozzarella with balsamico on huge mound of razor thin cold cuts. Mmmmmm. read more

I have been to this little sandwich shop twice in a month since, discovering them. It's a tiny little convenience store type place, actually. Both times, I've ordered the same thing, large ham and cheese sub with a bag of kettle chips. A little under $10. The service is fast, and you're in and out of there store fairly quickly. My first trip, I ordered a large sub and discovered a single strand of hair on one half of the sandwich. Ewww, gross! However, I had already eaten the other half of the sandwich which, was just fine. I ended up tossing it. I'm a fair person so, I did happen to go back to give them another try because, other than finding a hair, my sandwich was still pretty darn good. Second trip, thankfully, no hair was found, as I quickly unwrapped it and inspected it. The bread is good and crusty, the meat, cheese, and vegetables are fresh. My only recommendation for this establishment is...invest in hair nets/ hats and wear them! read more
