Around 11:30am our party of 8 (three adults, five kids) stopped into PIGS BBQ in Frederick, MD. We were sat at 2 four top tables next to each other, which was okay with us. We were the ONLY party in the restaurant until we asked for our check. I'll begin with the positives: the smoked wings were meaty, perfectly cooked and delicious. The smoked jalapeño cheddar sausage was divine. The deviled eggs were tasty, too! The service here was the problem. As I mentioned-we were the ONLY party in the restaurant. Our server came to take our drink order and I said we would also like to order a few appetizers, she said she would have to come back for that. We got our drinks in about 10 minutes and placed our appetizer order. We ordered the tortilla chips with smoked salsa and queso ($7). The dish came with 2-4oz ramekins of sauce and 12-15 chips. We also had the deviled eggs which came with 4 halves and were delicious. We didn't have plates, napkins etc. to start. About 15 minutes later the server came back to take our meal order. We ordered a second round of chips and salsa/Queso at the same time because the portion was so shockingly small for sharing. Their kids menu only offers chicken tenders or pulled pork with house made bbq chips so we paid $4 for teeny tiny sides of Mac and cheese and baskets of fries. The brisket was overdone and possibly from the day before. We had to ask for bbq sauce (they have 6 pack boxes of house made sauces that are delightful). My take away from PIGS BBQ is this: probably best as take out. I hear the catering is great! As a group with kids it was frustrating to have such lackluster service considering we were the only patrons. We spent over $150 and wished we could have enjoyed it. read more

PIGS catered my 150-person event on Saturday and I couldn't be happier! The food was many notches above "regular" barbeque joints, with sublime salads, jalapeno cornbread, vegan choices and much much more. So many of my guests raved about the food which is the best compliment. Lisa was a joy to work with, and patient with me, and our server team led by Kyle were warm, fun and felt like part of our family and friends. I have catered a lot of large events and this was the best catering/staffing experience I have ever had. If you use PIGS for your wedding or party you will love them. We certainly do! read more

This was the first time trying this new location and I was kinda disappointed. Had ribs, brisket, and pulled pork with mac n cheese side. Ribs were the best but nothing really stood out. On top of that the meats weren't really hot either. Mac n cheese also was pretty pedestrian. I cannot say enough about how awesome it was to work with Lisa from PIGS. They catered our wedding yesterday and I had to immediately send her an email about her crew. The captain and his crew were so attentive and hard working. They served 165 guests quickly and efficiently. From passed appetizers to the buffet, food was 10/10 from all of our guests. Their appetizer options makes for such a nice touch for your cocktail hour, it was hard to only choose a few. Pigs BBQ Catering: Kevin and his crew provided the most outstanding service for my daughter's wedding this past weekend!! I truly cannot commend them enough! The service here is exceptional. Our waiter was extremely pleasant from start to finish. We ordered nachos as an appetizer, and at first we where a little concerned with the price however the size justifies this! Hands down worth the price, and are the best nachos we have ever had. This place puts the other local BBQ places to shame. The brisket was juicy and the pulled pork was great. They even have in house sauces- Carolina and jalapeño are my top two choices! The sides (mac&cheese and potato salad) were lacking some flavor. But all in all- this place is great. Great food, good prices, and incredible service! We had the opportunity to work with PIGS for our special wedding day. Lisa and her team went above and beyond from the planning, the day of and clean up. We were effected by COVID and Lisa provided all options we had and walked us through what our new plan looked like. We were in constant communication from preparing the proposal until a week before for any last minute updates on her end. For the day of her team was very professional and friendly. Our guests loved the bartender and all of the servers. The staff had the proper PPE and everyone felt safe during the event. We are beyond thankful for our amazing Captain, Daniel. Daniel make sure we had everything we needed throughout the night. We are so thankful that we choose such a great caterer for our special day! Just had our first PIGS experience and it was delicious! We got 2 of the larger plates so we could try almost everything; pork shoulder, brisket, smoked chicken, mac & cheese, southern greens, bbq beans and chips, cole slaw plus the pimento cheese fries. Everything was great but I was not a fan of the sausage. We both agreed it was just too tough and dry BUT that's not even remotely enough for me to deduct a star. Oh and I also enjoyed majority of their sauces which is typically where I run into problems with barbeque places, so that was nice. Point being, PIGS has great food and we will absolutely be back again soon. read more

PIGS has the best bbq I have ever had. I have traveled all around the south trying bbq but PIGS comes out on top. Their meat is flavorful and juicy but my favorite were the fish tacos. The tacos were topped with a dill cole slaw that was to die for. The servers and cashiers were also very nice and helpful. Cool place in a sports complex. Went on a Sunday and we were the only people in the restaurant - not a good sign. However we were very impressed with the quality of the bbq. We got fried green tomatoes to start and they were delicious. I got the 3 meat/2 side platter - a lot of food. Got the brisket, pork and white meat chicken with Cole slaw and Mac and cheese. The sauces they have are quality. I kept going back to the jalapeño sauce - very good. The chicken had good flavorful skin (dry rub). The chicken could have been a bit more moist, but I didn't leave any of it so it wasn't too bad. The portions were great. People started trickling in and with one server, Service could have been a bit quicker. But overall good. We'll definitely go back. Prices are very reasonable and the venue is cool. No soccer while we were there but I could tell it would be a really cool vibe to eat 'Q and watch some soccer. Did I mention they have a lot of TV's with sports playing? Very nice. read more

Pigs is some of the best bbq in Frederick! The Mac and cheese is out of this world especially if you like your Mac creamy! Everything I have tried has been good, the nachos, chilli, fried green tomatoes, the meats and all the sides are all great and worth a try! The location is a little odd but don't let it discourage you from going the staff is so nice too. In the winter it can be a little cold inside but the chilli warmed me up fast. They also have a lot of beers to choose from, it's a pretty cool place to check out. read more

I wanted to love this place... but it just fell short. My parents had heard good things about it and took our entire family there this evening. We sat for 10 minutes before we ordered. When we finally ordered the waitress told us they were out of all the BBQ meats except the pulled pork and the sausage. So a pork dish was the only option They should have let us know that before we even sat down. There were 9 of us and it basically forces us all to order the same things unless we wanted chicken fingers ( and we came for BBQ) Then, when we ordered, despite the fact that you could choose two meats and two sides, and they only offered two meats... you couldn't pick the same of either. It was bizarre. It was the same with the sides. The waitress basically said they were exhausted from their catering jobs. They may as well have said, we just don't want your business tonight. It is a shame because my whole HuGE family would have become regulars at a great BBQ place. read more

Noisy and smells like a locker room. Now for the food. My coworker and I both ordered the two meat combo. I got the brisket and sausage with coleslaw and baked beans. Brisket was dry and not very appealing. Sausage was not that great either. Tasted like store bought heated in an oven. Sides were nothing great either. This review is based on carryout.... Very genuine folks on phone and in person. The pulled pork sandwich was juicy. It came as large chunks with "bark" on a soft potato roll. It's not minced like in other joints I got the NC style vinegar sauce. It was spot on! The mac n cheese was a let down. It seemed to be out of the box with some black pepper flakes and artificial cheddar flavor. It was not baked, as one might expect in a BBQ joint. We attended a wedding yesterday at Dulaney's Overlook where PIGS did the buffet. Not only was the food really delicious - wonderful pulled pork and chicken and the sides were to die for - but the person in charge, Jimmy, was outstanding! He was organized and thoughtful, he never stopped working the entire evening. The dry rubbed wings are the best wings I've ever had. I didn't even need to sauce them and I'm a chronic over-saucer. I didn't want the ranch and it's good ranch. Try them. The service was intimate and friendly. The beer selection is great, including tons of hard to find Maui Brewing beers. All of the food was great but the wings, collard greens, and smoked chicken were the standouts. I wasn't expecting much given its location inside of a sports arena but boy did this give me a lesson in not judging a book by its cover. What a fun find! Used Yelp to find a restaurant close to the highway on a recent road trip. Found this BBQ spot with good ratings & open late, so decided to give it a try. Totally missed the fact that it was inside a sports complex, and we almost turned around because we thought the directions were wrong. Glad we decided to go in and ask. The restaurant/bar is situated between 2 indoor soccer fields, so plenty of dinner-tainment available if you're into sports, plus several flat screen TVs as well. Food was great. Beer selection great. Service great. We tried the nachos starter with pork, and they recommend the 2 meat/2 sides platter. Between the 3 of us, we had the pulled pork, brisket, & sausage (Very smokey) and for sides, we got mac & cheese (yum), coleslaw, baked beans, & homemade BBQ chips. No complaints all around. This area isn't well known for its bbq, so I want to acknowledge that the meat here isn't bad, and the sauces are ok. I was happy enough to have the pulled pork sandwich and chili. I loved the brisket and sausage the best so far. Such flavor, I enjoyed every bite. Also the greens were so good too. I also liked the cornbread too. Just right sweetness and moist. My husband thought we were in the wrong place when we pulled up!! I'd have never suspected a delicious BBQ restaurant sitting low key inside this sports arena, yet it's there. We got the pimento fries for an appetizer and they were so good! Really tangy and cheesy! The kids got grilled cheese and chicken tenders. Both were the basic kids meal, nothing special. I got dry rubbed chicken wings, the flavor is smokey and sweet. I'd definitely recommend them. My husband got a beef brisket sandwich and Mac n cheese, both were awesome according to him. I rarely leave reviews for establishments, no reason - lazy maybe.... But Pigs BBQ left enough of an impression on me i feel i need to speak up - I ordered the 10 wings (dry rub, fried) - on-line order, i received a text within a minute telling me my order was received and would be ready at 1:00 (only 25 minutes from my order) - so i went there (a little out of the way depending where in Frederick you live) - but we'll worth it - i arrived and parked in the curbside pickup spot, gave them a quick call and told them I was there (number on the sign where I parked) - my order was brought out to me within 3 minutes from the time I was told it would be ready. I got home (about a 7 or 8 minute drive) and put my wings on a plate and sat down for my mini feast.. The wings were cooked perfectly, they were nice large wings, seasonings were great, i ordered 10 (which at BWW i could have eaten all 10) but these were so nice and large and done perfectly i could only eat 7, saving the other 3 for a snack later.. This is my first time at Pigs but it won't be my last - i live in Woman's Mill and this place is easy to get to from here, I've lived in Frederick 4 years and thought I had found all the gems..
