Then, they handed us the bill before we were even done eating -- and without ever serving the steamed egg or the wagyu carpaccio, both of which were included in the set. When we tried to ask about it, the staff started avoiding us entirely. Even though we were basically the only table in the restaurant, they wouldn't come back to answer our questions or acknowledge us. We had another reservation elsewhere that we missed because we spent so long just trying to get someone to talk to us. When we finally got their attention, they told us they "couldn't do anything" because their POS system doesn't allow adjustments. Only after we pushed did they offer a couple sodas, and eventually brought out the carpaccio after one of us insisted on trying it. We didn't ask for the egg, as we were about to leave, but the server then mentioned in Korean to the kitchen (we speak Korean) to make a steamed egg -- which felt like an odd, last-minute afterthought. We never asked for it and just walked out. Bottom line: the pork was tasty, but the service was unresponsive, unprofessional, and dismissive. They actually called our name to get seated, but I guess we must of missed it, because when I went to check on the tablet I noticed I was no longer on the Yelp waitlist. I think it was the manager or hostess noticed my confusion and immediately came up to ask if we needed assistance. I mentioned that I no longer see my name and she was like "Oh! It was Vivian for 2 correct, give me one moment to set up a table for you both" she was indeed very sweet and got the table set up right away for us! However, despite being busy on a Friday, our wait time was 5 minutes and we were seated quickly. Amazing. We ordered the Pork Gyu combo for two people. I love the stone pot that they cook the meats on, and I love that there's a little side tray for all the cooked meats so that we're not rushed to finish our food. The servers there were really attentive and cooked everything for us, and honestly, we were so impressed by how our server was able to attend to at least 4 tables without missing a beat. The meat quality was really good, and I was impressed by the assortment of sauces available. It had all my favorite banchan at the table (vermicelli, radish, kimchee), and they had the rice papers and salad ready to go and everything. Recently took a visit here after seeing some tiktoks and wow! It did not disappoint. My friends and I (3) got the Pork Gyu small combo and it was the perfect amount of food for us. Yes, we were struggling a bit at the end but it's ok! There were 4 plates of meat that each were a reasonable amount. The banchan options were great! There was spicy cucumbers, japchae, rice paper, etc. The combo came with steamed egg, beef carpaccio which was SOO GOOD and I am personally not a fan of carpaccio usually but this was so good. Went there with my parents who were in town and since they wanted good pork belly, I thought pigya would be the best place to take them. WRONG. They sat us at the back left table (this seems to be one of the two tables for large parties) and I had no problem as I've sat at this table couple times before. The heat was so low that the meat was basically steaming and not sizzling. I asked the waiter and he let me know that this table often had issues (then why did they seat us here??) The issue was that the meat was either not cooking enough or taking too long. I tried to deal with it but when the pork belly was put on the grill, it literally would not cook. We waited and I expected them to change our seat or cook it for us inside the kitchen, but after waiting a while, I just asked him to pack it to-go and I ended up airfrying it. It's unfortunately that pigya now seems like a place where the ownership prioritizes profit over customer service. It's such an amazing deal too, we got the small size Pork Gyu set for $78 and it was so much food. It could easily feed at least three people. We had so much leftovers plus we had to take the entire final course (ramen) home because we were so stuffed. The meat is also SO high quality here. I'm not a big fan of pork but the pork here was so delicious. It was fatty and tender. The kimchi fried rice was cooked on the grill so it was nice and crispy on the bottoms. We got here at around 1.30pm on Saturday and it wasn't too busy. We got the pork gyu, which comes with a combination of pork and beef. What's nice is the servers cook the meat for you, and the service is pretty quick. They had a wide range of appetizers including salad, kimchi, bean sprouts, pickled radish, glass noodles, and an assortment of sauces. They started grilling the kimchi and bean sprouts, and the meat came shortly after. They started with brisket, then it was short rib, pork cheek, and then fresh pork belly. The brisket was my favorite cut; it was both crispy and flavorful. The short rib was decent (not the highest quality but still pretty tasty). The pork cheek wasn't a cut I particularly liked, because it wasn't very tender. They finished with some pork belly, which was thick and juicy. They also had wagyu carpaccio on the side. Once you're done with the meat, they bring out the kimchi fried rice and the hangover ramen. Neither of those dishes was anything to write home about, they were pretty typical. Overall, the value was reasonable. But I personally didn't think it was super special. I'd be happy to go again but it wouldn't be my top KBBQ option.
