    Spicy pimento cheese with egg
    Steve D.

Never disappoints. Great biscuits, flaky and buttery with a nice crunch on the outside. Tried the special, a spicy pimento cheese sandwich with fried chicken, hot honey, jalapeños, and added an egg. A terrific way to kick off the day. Good coffee too. I like the thick mugs that keep it hot.

Was visiting from out of town with two friends on a rainy Sunday morning. Parking was, of course, on the street but we had no issue finding a spot in one of the nearby neighborhoods. There was surprisingly no line or wait when we walked in. We ordered at the counter and then sat ourselves. There isn't much seating indoors, maybe 4 or 5 booth tables and additional bar-style seating, so we sat outside which was fully covered and had heaters. I ordered the chicken friend steak with biscuit and mushroom gravy. One friend ordered a biscuit breakfast sandwich (I believe the Reggie) and a homemade red velvet pop tart. The other friend ordered the biscuit with mushroom gravy. Everything was amazing. So flavorful and so comforting. Portions are also pretty big and worth the price. We ended up having to take the pop tart home because we were so full and didn't end up eating it until the following morning but even then it was still delicious. Will definitely be back!

I've heard good things about this place, so I gave it a try. Firstly, the space is not well organized due to being too small to meet the number of customers. Ordering was a little chaotic, as was getting seated and finding utensils. I'm willing to accept chaos if the food is awesome. Was the food awesome? It bordered on it, but couldn't quite make the leap. It didn't lose its grip, and plummet into the chasm of mediocrity, but it dangled with its legs flailing for a bit. "The Reggie", their basic chicken biscuit, was a bit dry. It really could have used a little bit more gravy. The chicken was good, and the breading was excellent. The biscuit itself was the dry part. There was too much of it for the amount of gravy. Now, I'm not from the South. I've only been dabbling in Southern Cuisine for a few years, so I fully admit that I may be missing the point. The chicken fried steak was decent. Smothered with their delicious gravy with an open faced biscuit on the side, it was the stand out meal at the table. The Wedge is interesting. I may have to order one myself to get more of a taste of it. The brisket was a little tough, though. The fries were decent. The cheesy fries were lackluster (a little cheddar melted in the center), but the Cajun fries had a nice spice, and they weren't afraid to heap it on. While it was not the best chicken and biscuit I've had, it certainly was not the worst, but the chicken fried steak stood out from the rest.

Wow. WOW. WOW! So good. I'd been wanting to go here for over a year, and finally made it yesterday. Amazing biscuits and the most creative and delicious biscuit sandwiches. I can't think of words to adequately describe the McIsley. It's a biscuit sandwich with an amazingly tasty fried chicken breast, stone ground mustard and the best pickles I've ever had. They serve this with a ribbon of honey around the plate and this just put it over the top. My dining companion had the Moneyball - biscuit and gravy, with an over easy egg atop it. They offer a choice of sausage or vegan gravy; they had the sausage and unlike the gravy at some places, you could actually see sausage chunks throughout. Really quick delivery of our food. A very clean, comfortable place. On-street parking only.

This was my 3rd time here in 6 months. Had to bring my gkids to try this place now they know how delicious biscuits and gravy are.

Homemade biscuits, tasty toppings, and a fantastic staff! Shoutout to the employee who gave us the free mini sauce containers of pimento and apple jam when we swung by in the afternoon for some extra toppings (we had ordered from them in the morning). Perhaps they just didn't want to deal with the little charge, but it made our day! It took a fork to eat the chicken biscuit with gravy, but I would certainly get any of their dishes again! (We also got the brisket biscuit which was divine!)

"Make your own". Mine was a biscuit with egg, sausage patty and cheese !

Always the #1 requested place to eat when we are in Portland. Can't beat the biscuits along with everything else you can add to the "make your own" breakfast sandwich. The vibe is relaxing and quiet enough to enjoy conversation. The "biscui-teer" who takes the order was super friendly. The place very much reflects the neighborhood which is terrific with many shops and places to visit. There was inside as well as outside seating which offers a choice on a nice day. Definitely worth the trip for morning eats.

Some places serve food. Pine State Biscuits serves comfort. The food here is incredible, filling, and absolutely satisfying. I left very full and very happy. The space is on the smaller side if you're planning to eat inside, and since seating is open, tables can fill up quickly. The staff are attentive and welcoming as soon as you walk up to the counter, which makes the experience smooth even when it's busy. Ordering ahead is a great option, especially if you're grabbing food to go. This is a great spot for family, friends, or a casual brunch date. It may not be traditionally romantic, but when the food speaks to your heart and soul like this... it kind of works anyway. Come hungry, plan to be full, and don't be surprised if you're already thinking about your next visit.

It's been awhile since I have been to this location. You orders first from the counter and then find a place to sit (similar with the other locations). We just ordered The Reggie Deluxe, Grits, and Hash Ups (add brisket) to shared. I really enjoyed the Hash Ups with the brisket as the meat was super tender that you could cut it with a fork. The Reggie Deluxe was still a classic and tasted like it always does. We were lucky to beat the rush.

Fluffy cake like biscuit - moist Marion berry pop tart - mmmm puff pastry tart Chicken fried steak legit - not that ground beef Reggie We like the sausage gravy better than the mushroom gravy (but both are solid) We came here hungry and we did indeed divulge! We aren't biscuit snobs so maybe we can't tell what's a "legit" biscuit or not, but the food was good and tasty. Bottom line: would hit this place up again

    Blueberry corn pancakes- so good!

So hungry from an early flight we stopped by after flying into PDX. We called ahead to see if there was much of a wait/ line and was told 10 or so minutes but it was a lot faster than that which was great. Service was very friendly. We shared Make Your Own biscuit sandwich and the blueberry corn pancakes-- very good! The biscuit was delicious and very large. We had two pancakes rather than the three (didn't know this was an option until the employee offered). It was plenty. We had a side sausage. The pancakes were so good! Hot and delicious. They come with syrup and a lemon wedge which really balances out the sweet from the syrup and corn. We sat outside with heat lamps. It was clean and cozy.

Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Went here for brunch with a friend, and it was my first time, so I was pretty excited to try it out. The place has both inside and outside seating, and there are plenty of options to choose from on the menu. I ordered the chicken fried steak plate, and woww the portion size was HUGE. The only issue was the gravy to meat ratio it felt so off, and I had to order extra gravy. However, it was $3 for a tiny sauce sized container, which felt a bit ridiculous. We also tried the fried mac n cheese bites ($8). They were super oily, and neither my friend nor I enjoyed them. The beignets ($4) were also a let down they weren't fluffy or soft like I expected. Instead, they were dense and tasted like they had been refried more than once. Would not recommend. Of course, eating here is an indulgent, heavy meal, and I did enjoy the biscuit and gravy a lot. The fried chicken and steak were good at the beginning, but it got a bit tough to eat after a while. The area is really nice for dining and catching up with friends, and I'd be open to coming back to try something different from the menu next time.

I don't really think much of a place where they're known of biscuit sandwiches but every Yelp recommendation showed this place. Luckily for me and right around the corner was this location and zero wait. The Reggie with sausage gravy--wow. Crispy juicy chicken and my god this was so good. By itself it really is a full meal. Looking around lots of people just ordered the biscuit entree by itself. Where they're missing out though is the has browns! 10/10 for seasonings and flavor! Actually I think I'd come here for those instead. Nevertheless this place must be on your radar for something seemingly so simple but extremely well made. Inside and outside it's just cozy; lots of single seating and picnic table seating for a nice conversation under the beautiful PNW weather.

Sunday morning service was slow, and the gravy-covered biscuits were a little over cooked. Might consider another visit on another day.
