I really wanted to like this place. I ordered a biscuit with fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, and ranch dressing, as well as hash browns, and a mimosa. The biscuit sandwich is so large it requires a fork. When I began cutting into mine, the biscuit began to crumble and fall apart, and all of the breading on the fried Chicken came off with it. Since it just fell apart, I took the biscuit off the top, and noticed that the fried green tomatoes were literally just batter, there was no tomato left inside. I ate part of it, but it really just turned into a soft, disintegrated mess covered in ranch dressing. The hash browns were good, but the mimosa was really bad, mostly orange juice, with cheap prosecco. All of that being said, my partner and son both really liked their biscuit sandwiches, and theirs did not fall apart like mine. To avoid a long wait, we arrived soon after the 7 am opening and we were rewarded with being able to order as soon as we walked in. In order to eat inside, you must show proof of vaccination, but inside seemed noisy so we ate on the patio instead. Other things to note are: coffee (Coava reg or decaf) is self-serve and the British Breakfast or Peppermint Tea is by Smith Tea. Both brands are Portland local and worth imbibing. Strawberry lavender pop tart - Light lavender taste in the pop tart with a strawberry purée. The pastry was flaky, delicious, and warm. This pop tart could definitely be a permanent item. The hash browns were big enough for two people and was crunchy and well seasoned. They were also light and fluffy. The Reggie deluxe comes with an egg. First off, the chicken was super juicy and crunchy. The gravy was rich and flavorful and the best gravy I've had! Beware that the line gets VERY long on a weekend, especially Sunday -- we were waiting for ~1.5 hours to get seated since it's fairly slow-moving. I'd recommend grabbing takeout if possible! Waited about 25 minutes in line (the line went outside). Situated ourselves cozy closest to the open door to the patio, which was unfortunately full. After about 5 minutes, I was asked to move to another table where a tiny two person table was shoved at the end of the row smooshed up against a party of 6. They said it was because they had a party of 3 coming and needed two tables. 5 minutes past, another two party table sat there... this was inconvenient and didn't really demonstrate a customer first priority. Food itself was ok. The beignets were the best part of our meal by far - crispy on the outside and soft fluffy dough on the inside. The hash ups were nothing special. The moneyball was was rated a 3/5 from my other half. The portions were more than enough. We ordered our food to go so that we could have a picnic brunch at the park and it was the perfect meal! Food was still piping hot about 20 minutes after picking it up. I think my favorite part of the dish was that there really wasn't a star of the sandwich, every part of it came together to create the perfect bite, bite after bite. The Essential seems to be a special off menu item as an honor to essential workers. It's a good sandwich and it's very tasty but just a reminder, it's steak. So sometimes when you're biting into it, it's not a clean bite and you'll need to chew a bit depending on how sinewy the piece of meat is. That being said, the steak is extremely soft and flavorful. This restaurant was at the corner of a very hip area. The line was very long when we arrived at 1:30pm. I think we waited for about an hour to be seated. It is a very cozy restaurant, at most there were about 6 or 7 tables and a bar table to be seat inside. There are also patio seatings but it was rather hot that day. I love their sweet options, the savory options are good but tend towards pretty heavy. Heck, it's a biscuit place, so I guess that's the point!
