Apple Butter and Biscuit
Tully B.

The mushroom gravy is a warm embrace on a drizzly day, the bacon demanding to be hugged by the Tillamook cheese. Pine State will be busy at peak hours because it is good. On a Sunday at noon we waited a half hour on Division and sat outside (though there was a table inside). Once we counter-ordered the food was out in about 10 minutes. Coffee in hand, we had our local hot sauce waiting. The biscuit is perfect and the apple butter is like elevated apple sauce- eager to be spread. The hash-ups are love. Highly recommend getting a side of gravy to dump on top! This is a larger PSB, but they're still may be a wait as it is in a great location!

Pine Street Biscuits absolutely lives up to the hype. The biscuits are perfectly flaky, buttery, and hold up beautifully to their generous fillings. What we ordered was unreal--crispy, thick-cut bacon, melty cheese, and rich gravy all stacked on a fresh biscuit. Pure comfort food heaven. The portions are big, the flavors are bold, and everything tastes fresh and made with care. It can get busy, but the line moves quickly and the food is well worth the wait. Staff was friendly and efficient, even during a rush. If you're a biscuit lover or just want an indulgent breakfast/brunch, this place is a must. I'll definitely be back.

BBQ Bisquit

Took my son to have lunch here and it did NOT disappoint. He ate the BBQ biscuit that had slaw on it. The biscuit was cooked solid enough to withhold the meat but also soft enough to spread jelly on

Atmosphere was nice, order at the front and they bring the food to you. You bus your own table when you're done. Biscuit was very large, chicken was very tasty. The apple butter was yummy.

I was up visiting family in Portland and we went to Pine State Biscuits for breakfast. It's very cute and looks kind of rustic on the outside. When you go inside you order at the register and then take a seat. There are lots of seats inside and we were able to grab a table in the back. I built my own biscuit sandwich with egg and cheddar cheese and my partner had The Reggie which is a biscuit with fried chicken, bacon, and cheese topped with gravy. My mom order pancakes and we ordered a plain biscuit just to taste. The biscuits were buttery and flakey, just what you expect. My sandwich was delicious but The Reggie was the star! The friend chicken was perfect and the gravy smooth. My mom also said the pancakes were good. Pine State Biscuits is a fun place to have breakfast! I would come back if I was in the neighborhood.

Stopped in Portland for brunch on our way back to California and couldn't pass up Pine State Biscuits. This location was the most convenient along our route. It's been a while since my last visit, but the quality and flavor are still just as amazing -- it hits the spot every time. When we arrived, there was no line, but it did take a bit of time for our food to come out after ordering. There's limited indoor seating, but they have a covered patio with more space. FOOD Reggie (5/5): Never disappoints -- the gravy ties everything together perfectly. Chatfield (4/5): The kids enjoyed it. Hash Ups (5/5): Big hit with the kids! Fried Green Tomatoes (5/5): Perfectly crispy and flavorful. Spicy Pimiento Chicken Sandwich (5/5): So good -- definitely recommend! Strawberry Almond Pop-Tart (3/5): My least favorite of the bunch; could've used a bit more flavor. DRINKS Bloody Mary (5/5): One of the best I've had -- perfectly balanced and flavorful. Overall, my family and I very satisfied with the food and service. The only downside is the street parking -- we got lucky getting a spot right in front.

It's been a long time since I've been here and I wondered if they're still as good as they used to be. I had just been wanting simple biscuits and gravy for weeks and finally had my chance to get some. Such a big biscuit, so much gravy. Yep, it really is still just solid good. My partner wanted a biscuit sandwich and cheesy grits which were quite satisfying. We weren't planning on a dessert of any kind but when we saw our options we had to try a couple items. Really didn't disappoint.

Round 2 of coming here due to a strong craving for a biscuit sandwich. We were easily able to order online to avoid stand around and waiting. We arrived and our food was ready. They have a great system for picking up your online orders so we were out of there quickly. They have a great outside eating area which would be very appealing in the warmer months. We had the Reggie with sausage gravy and biscuits and gravy also with sausage gravy. The biscuits truely are amazing and worth the hype. The sausage gravy was also very good with just a hint of spiciness. The chicken and bacon in the sandwich was pretty good as well. I'll definitely return when needing my biscuit fix in the future

The "Moneyball" before it just disappeared off of the plate. Sooooooo good!

Based upon the reviews I read on Yelp, my wife and I decided to try this place out on our recent trip to Portland. WOW!!!!!!! When we walked in, Lily was there, just waiting to help us out. She gave us some recommendations and we were leaning towards the Reggie, but we both decided to get the Biscuits & Gravy, aka "The Moneyball", with a side of sausage. We knew that we had selected the right thing because Lily's face kind of lit up. When she brought us our orders, she shared a little bit of the history behind the restaurant and went that extra mile to make us both feel warm and welcome. After our firsts bites, we knew we had found a goldmine. The flavors in the sausage gravy are out of this world amazing. We both used that amazing biscuit to scrape up every little bit of that gravy off of the plates. I would highly recommend place.

Every time I visit Portland, Pine State is a must. The mushroom gravy is insane! I get the biscuit with fried chicken, cheese and bacon... I know sounds like a lot but it's honestly perfect.

Amazingly flakey and yummy biscuit sandwiches!!! The way both the sausage and mushroom gravy complimented everything made me already want to go back soon!! A little slow on the service but I think it's because there was a lot of people ahead of us. Oh and the cinnamon roll was amazing as well. 10/10 would go again

Corn meal blueberry pancakes...just a hint of CM for some toothiness!

Had some woodworking done at NW Creative on Taylor and on impulse stopped inta' Pine State...OMG sitting there eating blueberry corn meal pancakes it got me thinkin' "This is the kinda joint that makes Portland, Portland!" You're familiar with craft beer, cider, gin but craft biscuits?!?! Freaking awesome! The coffee was excellent and the biscuits with butter and marion berry jam was just whatcha want after some woodworking! Nice warm atmosphere and quick service on a liquid sunshine late autumn day in bridgetown! As Ahnold said, "I'll be Bach!"

Hash Ups (Left); Shrimp n Grits (Bottom); The Reggie (Top)

This place is true comfort food! If you love biscuits & gravy, you will truly love this place. We tried the Reggie, the shrimp n grits, & the hash ups. Everything tasted amazing. The gravy & biscuits is the best part! They have multiple locations around Portland so you know it's going to be good!

Spectacular heavy cream biscuit with local Oregon strawberries and a lovely whipped cream, legit, not the aerosolized kind. I highly recommend starting your day with this. We also shared the shredded pork eggs Benedict. I liked it a lot, although I generally appreciate a bit more lemon taste in hollandaise sauce, but this hollandaise was so creamy, smooth and flavorful, I'm not mad. The breakfast potatoes served with this are very tasty - delightfully seasoned and perfectly cooked - crispy outside and fluffy inside. The coffee was very good. Our server, Jared B., was great; just enough interaction to be sure we had what we needed at all times, and as personable as he was efficient. Beautiful location that was spotless and comfortable.

We got here at 10am on a Monday, and every table was filled. It looked like they had numerous staff, but I would guess that the traffic level must be hard to manage. Perhaps because of this, my order of Sawmill breakfast was very poorly prepared. The gravy was luke warm at best. The eggs had the texture of frozen powdered egg that was just thawed. The biscuit was like a brick and hard to eat. I also saw numerous other patrons who were leaving their scrambled eggs untouched. The chicken tenders were warm and delicious, and the quiche was decent. Salad was probably the highlight. Besides that, I think the vibes inside the restaurant were very beautiful and memorable. Just unfortunate that the food was very sub par. I probably wouldn't recommend if you were trying to impress someone important.

I'm definitely neither a vegetarian nor someone who appreciates vegetarian/vegan places that rely only on firm plain tofu or some other reformed soy products carby patty things as their protein source. So when I go to a vegetarian or vegan restaurant, I tend to order dishes where I can still see and recognize the actual ingredients. I was very happy with my calamari (oyster mushroom rings). The crust was crunchy and savory, it almost felt like eating flavored chips or other crunchy snacks like the Korean brand onion ring snacks. Inside the mushrooms were well cooked, they were hot and juicy. As a lover of savory crunchy snacks and mushrooms, this dish had me at the first bite, and I didn't even need the dipping sauce (but the sauce was good though). I finished the whole plate! My partner is a vegetarian, and he loved his bowl. I had one bite of it. The chicken popcorn looked quite real, but I still prefer real chicken popcorn. The gravy potato was a bit plain and light for my liking, but then again, I'm not someone who seasons food with only salt and pepper and put mayo and ketchup on everything, so you can be your own judge there. The ginger lime soda was super refreshing, zesty and icy, and it was perfectly sweetened to my taste. Staff were friendly and nice, indoor was warm and bright. Definitely a place worth to come back for the mushrooms and drink!

The endless coffee. They had 2 pump coffee dispensers. One was empty, they brought over a full one when asked. I filled mugs one each out of different dispensers. No clean spoons to stir with. Both mugs of coffee were cold, even from the new dispenser. They promptly worked at getting new coffee. When it was done, I filled my mugs, still no clean spoons. I asked for spoons and they were provided. Later I wondered how long the milk had been sitting there. When I asked the coffee guy about the milk he said they change it every day. I told him I was concerned that it may not be good, he said something to the effect of yeah I understand. I didn't see it checked or replaced. I grew up in Portland, but live out of town. I don't think I will be coming back to this place.
