Located in Downtown Portland, you will find plenty of parking within a block or two radius - Or you can always find street parking as well. Be warned - The wait is long {and is most likely at least a 30 minute wait} - But man, oh man.. The wait is SO worth it! From the second you walk in the door, it gives off a cool, laid back southern vibe. Rustic looking decor - From the distressed wood tables to the vintage metal signs to drinks served in Ball jars - You will immediately feel welcomed and right at home. Greeted with a friendly smile and an atmosphere that makes you feel like one of the family - That good ol' southern charm hospitality! Take a look at the menu, place your order at the counter to receive your number and your dishes will be brought to you in no time flat. So many amazing food and drink options - The most difficult part of your day is going to be choosing what to eat. They have standard brunch libations {Mimosas and Bloody Mary's} but they also have a fantastic cocktail menu complete with House Made Vodka Lemonade, Whiskey and Bourbon drinks - Anything your boozy brunch heart desires. I opted for the Ginger Beer {as I was about to hop on a brewery tour right after and knew I'd be drinking more than enough} - and it completely hit the spot. Now.. onto the most amazing, stick to your ribs, down-home goodness. My husband opted for The Chatfield - Fried Chicken, Bacon, Cheddar Cheese topped with a homemade Apple Butter and sandwiched in-between the most amazing homemade biscuits. Oh my, these biscuits! They are warm, soft, buttery and the best biscuit you will ever have.. Hands Down! My turn! I am the most indecisive person {probably on the planet} but as soon as I laid my eyes on The Moneyball - I was Sold! This place was definitely a hit and we are so glad we were able to try out this iconic Portland spot. We came around lunch time on a Monday and the wait wasn't terribly bad. Waited about 20 minutes until we approached the front and were able to order. By then, my mouth was watering with all the delicious options Pine State has to offer. I finally decided to order the Reggie Deluxe and had no regrets. The biscuit was buttery and soft and the chicken was fried perfectly! The sausage gravy was creamy and sooo good! And of course bacon and an egg makes everything ten times better! We also shared the hash browns which comes with grilled onions, mushrooms, and cheese. Personally, I thought this was a bit on the dry side so I wasn't terribly in love with the Hash Ups and could have done without it. Pine State Biscuits is definitely worth going to. I came here on Tuesday around 1245 and there was no line, score! I was not hungry and came here anyways to see what the hype was all about. I tried the Reggie Deluxe which included fried chicken, egg, bacon and the delicious gravy placed on the side. Everything paired so well and the biscuit was fluffy and warm. Overall, food is definitely good and service was friendly. I would definitely come back when I visit PDX again. read more

Was excited to bring my best friend here so she could try it out. There is always a massive line to eat here which I immediately equate to delicious food. There was not a long line when we arrived so that was nice. I am vegan my friend is not. I checked out the menu before hand and stupidly assumed I would be able to eat something here. I was right and very wrong at the same time. There was one option on the menu the "veggie reggie." This sandwich comes with a vegan sausage, tofu bacon, cheese, mushroom gravy and even has a (v) at the end. Side note; there was no legend on the menu specifying if the 'v' stood for vegetarian or vegan. I had asked if the cheese was vegan the cashier said it wasn't so I ordered without cheese and also made it aware that I was vegan...cashier didn't bat an eye so again I assumed I was ordering a vegan option. After paying for my food I was told the gravy is also not vegan. So I said okay, no gravy. My food comes out with gravy and they make me another sandwich. One bite in and I realize this dry biscuit sandwich is definitely not vegan. Super dissapointed. My friend enjoyed her food but I will definitely not be returning. I had the special when I was there, it was the most delectable flakey biscuit a girl could hope for with an insane flavor combination of a fried egg, fried green tomatoes, hot spicy honey, and pimento cheese. This sandwich was like the old Carl's Jr commercials where you devour it and don't care how messy it's gonna make your hands. Man! This place is a definite must for brunch in Portland. Came here after hiking Multnomah Falls so we were hungry! The wait to order took about 20-30 minutes. We ordered the Regis Delux, hash up with brisket, money ball with sausage gravy, gravy fries, a biscuit with butter and Marionberry jam and a seasonal pop tart. The food came out surprisingly fast. Hash up with brisket was amazing!!! Same as the money ball! The regi I felt was too salty. Might have been from the gravy bacon and chicken. Yes. YES. I love a good specialty restaurant, and Pine State Biscuits is the newest addition to my list of favorites. And of course and most importantly yelpers, they have a delightful selection of vegetarian options. Complete with mushroom gravy (must have), tofu bacon, and a vegetarian sausage patty. When I got up to the counter to order, the chefs in the back we're literally rolling out the light and fluffy dough for the biscuits right in front of my eyes, so you know these things are fresh with a capital F. I ordered the Veggie Reggie because more is better, and got the whole package with mushroom gravy, cheese, tofu bacon, and the vegan sausage patty. It was delicious as expected, but I also soon discovered that this biscuit was SO good that even having it plain was totally delicious. I hate a crumby, crumbling biscuit but these were the perfect combination of light, fluffy, flavorful, and firm. We also ordered the Hash Ups, golden brown and cooked crispy to perfection topped with onions, mushrooms and cheese. Stopped in to Pine State Biscuits as our last breakfast while staying in Portland. Casual dining with counter service and self bussed tables. The biscuit was good. Maybe not the best ever coming from the south east but good just the same. The veggie alternatives were very nice to see. Sausage, bacon, and sausage gravy could all be substituted for a vegetarian version. The Veggie Reggie had all 3 and made for a great breakfast. The coffee of course was great. It saddens me to write this and take the harsh, 1-star approach but everyone needs fair warning, and those who manage this location need to make a change. Saturday at 11am. It's busy, there's a line around the building, and nothing and no one to give clarity on what standing in line gets you, or what to expect once you make it inside (if you're willing to wait 1.5+ hours in a barely-moving line). Finally I called another location to see what the wait would be like, and I was met with a recorded message essentially saying "we're really busy all the time. Order ahead online for pickup, or get delivery to have quicker service". So after wasting over an hour waiting, I did order online. Then I returned at my designated time to pickup (another 50 minutes). It wasn't ready. It was ready another 20 minutes past my pickup time. And as I waited, someone at the pickup window allowed someone to pay and order right from them - skipping the line, and skipping the online order process (which was also poorly laid out). All in all, you need to prepare hours in advance if you have any hopes of eating. The process needs help badly. If you can record a lengthy message about how busy you always are, a change is needed. Meaning that I do not like gravy of any kind. I ordered my biscuit without gravy and it was super dry. Although, the biscuit had bacon on it, there was no bacon grease on the sandwich. That made me wonder how fresh the bacon was and why it was so dry. While in line I imagined a buttery, flaky, biscuit. That is not what I got. I then ordered gravy on the side and thought it was not a good taste. Rather bland. Again, I am not a gravy person so keep that in mind. My husband does like gravy and he also found it to be bland and not his favorite. Our kids ordered pancakes and did not eat them because they tasted like cornbread. I cannot recommend this place based on its food. However, I can say they have wonderful customer service. The staff was all smiles and happy to help accommodate us the entire time! came here for a team brunch as we had heard such great things. the first person in our party arrived and he was not allowed to get a table and wait for our group (party of 8). They told him we had to wait and gather at the cash register and couldn't sit and wait even though the restaurant was essentially empty. The second person of party arrived and was told the same thing, we ordered coffee and kindly explained that we were gonna go sit....which we did. We went and found a picnic table and since it wasn't large enough for 8 people we started to pull another picnic table over and we were quickly "scolded" for rearranging the tables (again....the entire place was empty). we debated the need to have two tables for our party and the lady, obviously annoyed, said "Fine, just put them back when you are done." Our party finally showed up, we ordered breakfast which was basically good, had our group gathering and promptly left. I sense that this place has gotten to be so popular that it feels it can be the "Soup Nazi" of Portland. I for one will no longer contribute to their popularity.
