Street fries with al pastor ($11)
    Andrew W.

I was never huge on Pink Taco when it was located in the pre-expansion Century City Mall; the food was ho-hum gringofied semi-Tex-Mex, served in a kitschy atmosphere and topped off with that juvenile euphemistic name only a thirteen-year-old boy would think clever. And I'm certainly no fan of food trucks, which always seem to give too little food for the steep prices they charge. But I really was in no mood to suffer more of the weird culinary experiments that the office cafeterias keep slopping out, so I decided to give the Pink Taco Truck a whirl. Their version of a meal deal ― the "Street Gang" of three tacos, a little bag of chips and salsa, and a drink for $15 ― is not what I'd consider a deal. Think about that: three small circles of corn masa with some meat and salsa; a handful of tortilla chips; a twelve-ounce can of soda or a bottle of water. Fifteen dollars. For that same money, one could get a combination platter at El Cholo, a Hollenbeck Burrito at El Tepeyac, or two orders of the famed goat birria at El Parían. (Yeah, yeah, I know: "Guisados charges $4.50 per taco, and so-and-so charges that per taco..." And that's why I think tacos are generally for chumps ― most places charge way too much for them. But that's another soapbox for another street corner.) Instead, I chose the "Street Fries" ― what used to be commonly called "Irish nachos," French fries with nacho toppings ― for $9, with meat for an additional $2. The fries were thin shoestrings in a queso (cheese sauce) that is liberally spiked with chili powder instead of melted cheese. There was a good amount of al pastor, which was flavored well without being overly spicy (and, thankfully, no pineapple ― who started that disgusting trend?), sour cream (drizzled evenly instead of dumped on in one lump), as well as pico de gallo and pickled jalapeño. The portion size was satisfiying, but for $11, I think I'd have preferred it to be a bit more. No ― actually, I think I'd prefer having the same portion at a lower price point. So the Pink Taco Truck was okay. Not great. Overpriced. Pretty much the same as other food trucks.

Pink Taco was at Grand Park today, I decided to pick up some tacos. They had the gang bang; a 3 taco combination, chips and avocado/verde sauce dip and a drink for $13. I ordered 2 baja tacos and 1 pink taco. It took about 20 minutes to get my order, but everything was so flavorful! The baja had 3-4 shrimps in the taco filled with cabbage slaw. It was delicious and the flavors were so strong, especially the chipotle mayo, which I loved. The pink taco (chicken) was delicious, I really liked the pink onions on top, it was habanero pickled onions. The corn tortilla was delicious. I didn't really like their advocado/verde sauce, something in the mixture didn't mix well. Their chips were extra crunchy and a zest of lime and salt.

Creamed corn is to die for!! Tacos are deeeelish too!

I love TACOs!!! who doesn't?? I was at a wedding over the weekend and the Pink Taco truck was front and center.... I couldn't wait till the released us to rush the truck! I was delightfully impressed!! Solid!! The Pink Taco is tasty and so is the aside but what stole the show was the creamed corn...... OMG!!!!!!! LOVE!!

Loaded fries with Brisket - $9 I left the fork to illustrate the lack of food

So I love the Pink Taco truck. They get 4 stars because their portions are decreasing with each purchase. The first time I had pink taco I order the brisket fries ($9), shrimp taco, pink taco, and brisket taco ($4). They were all amazing. The next time around I opted for no pickled onions on the chicken taco which I prefer. The Mexican Street corn is $4- pretty pricey for the portion they give but it taste nice-the lime makes a difference! I typically catch this truck at Santa Monica and Sepulveda or Midvale and Wilshire, so not sure how many trucks are out there but these are the ones I frequent. They also often run out of food which either speaks to how good it is or poor planning on their part!

Chili nacho fries made with chorizo & cheese quesadilla

Working in the west side you don't have that many options walking distance for a tasty breakfast or lunch. I get tired of the same foods around me. So far I've noticed they parked on San Vicente and Wilshire Blvd. every Wednesday mornings and leave around 10 AM. So far this is my spot every Wednesday! I absolutely love their cheese quesadilla with their special red and green sauce. I don't know what kind of cheeses they use but it is bomb! I also love their Chili Nacho cheese fries made with chorizo. Can't go wrong with chorizo! Their chips and guacamole is crisp and fresh! My friend got the Street Gang tacos and raves about the brisket. I'm going to try that next. I finished my meal with a nice refreshing watermelon Agua Frescas. You can't miss the pink truck bumping music and great friendly service. These guys are awesome!

    The Ape Taco

The Pink Taco Truck has been parking at the Coliseum for Rams games. The line is REALLY long, but the food is fast and delicious. We ordered the Ape Tacos ($9 for 2), which were gorgeous freshly made sweet potato-corn tortillas with a piece of deep fried yam topped with crunchy fried yams all of which was in a chipotle crema and was finished with cotija and pickled nopales. It was sweet, warm, crunchy and a little spicy in every bite. I would definitely wait in line for these awesome tacos again. Pricey but tasty!

Chicken, El Pastor and Brisket! YUMM!

I also tried the mulita with al pastor meat and that was also soso good. Cheesy, meaty, and indulgent. The additional topping section had good variety with pickled onions, cucumbers, etc. and everything seemed pretty fresh. Unfortunately, they were pretty much out of the roasted pepper and grilled onions at the time I went. To drink, I had the horchata and that was also very delicious. It was huge, sweet, and creamy. I also loved how it was not grainy at all. A good pairing with the rich foods. They also have a good amount of seating at the stand with a long table and multiple chairs. You can tell that it's house made and I liked the chewy texture of it. However, respectfully the filling felt and tasted like bean goo. I could only really taste the refried bean flavor which was strong. It kind of meshed all the components together into a gooey filling. I got this with asada meat and the meat was kind of chewy and not so flavorful on its own. Props to the tortilla though for not spilling everything out and holding it together well, but still a bit difficult to eat. I would ask for utensils when eating this dish. The green onion garnish was unique. I wish they gave more lime wedges because that helped elevate the dish. For $13 this wasn't too bad, but I'd rather get a better burrito from a street vendor.
