We used to come to Pinz with friends for fun. Easy location to find on Ventura Blvd, free parking, it has its own lot. Never had issues, it used to be clean and well run. OLD SCHOOL COOL ! I just started bowling in the "Beer League Bowling" tournament last week and am having a blast. Don't get me wrong, I am NOT a good bowler, but it doesn't matter when everyone is having this much fun. And when I finally did get a few STRIKES, there was a big round of applause from the other teams and the staff. I don't drink alcohol, so it was great that they had delicious Near beer for me to enjoy. The whole place just feels right, like a comfy sweater on a cold night. I went to bowl there today for the first time in many years, as the cost has gone way up with the fancy new owners. I grew up going to this bowling alley, having multiple bday parties there and even participating in a bowling league there as a teen, so remember when bowling was affordable and the arcade took coins. You didn't need to load a card that itself costs money. I finally decided to bowl today because their usual crazy expensive price is reasonable at $12 for two games on Friday afternoons. I had a decent time with my friend. Two major issues: 1) I wear leg braces due to a disability and for my entire 34 years of life, I've never been made to wear bowling shoes before. I always could wear my regular shoes. Today, I was told I either wore the bowling shoes ($7) or bought $11 socks to go over my shoes. That's ridiculous. I should not have to pay more money for the option that works better for me bc of my disability (altho it may actually be worse, slippery). What a jerky thing for them to do. I went with the bowling shoes which luckily worked ok, they found a pair with no heel and that are wide enough. 2) they said they aren't allowed to put up the bumpers for people over age 12. What?!? Who gives a fuck if a teen or adult wants to use a bumper; they paid for the lane, they should be able to use one if they want. And what cost is it to the bowling alley to push a button for the bumper to come up? They dont even have to send a person to the lane to put it up like the old days. Ridiculous policy!! I honestly don't know that I will come back and bowl here again. Not many bowling alleys left, but I'm sure I can find one that isn't so needlessly strict. P.s. the food is overpriced. We came here looking for a place with plenty of entertainment and we were not disappointed. We started off with bowling and enjoyed the ambience here. We were able to have a good time in our lane and made a couple friends beside us! After this, we then took some time for some wine and the pool table that they had behind the arcade! That was a pleasant surprise. Next, we played Ms. Pac-Man and enjoyed all the music before dining in at the restaurant they had in the area. We had pizza and beer and called it a night. Was really looking forward to a night of bowing, but consistent missteps by the staff at Pinz disrupted a night out with friends. Everything was off to a typical start: we had a reservation, signed in, got our shoes and went to our lane. Then, things took a turn. Our lane didn't turn on for ten minutes, and we had to ask the front staff to activate the lane twice. Small bump, we got over it. We start bowling, knockin' some pins, high-fiving, ordering beers, etc. During the fifth frame, a man (employee) asks to speak to the head of our party. Serious stuff. He informs us that we've been placed on the wrong lane, and we need to move. Pretty annoying, but at least they can move our score with it. We're not super pleased, but roll with it (is that a bowling pun?). We're walked to the entire other end of the bowling alley, roughly lane 24. Then told, no, we're going to move you to lane one. The least vibey lane. The one that the seats can't even reach the table where you have your fun finger foods. The one where no one actually bowls because the perspective is weird. The one where the TV's aspect ratio is so broken that you don't know what frame you're on. Okay... I guess we'll play here. After all these inconveniences, we were not offered anything, no beers ("we don't do pitchers") and no snacks. After a discussion about comped snacks, we ordered three (3) small snacks. The server checked back and confirmed that they would only comp one (1) plate of chicken tenders. TLDR; they put us on the wrong lane, forgot to start the lane, moved us after 20 minutes, moved us to the worst lane, didn't make any proactive effort to improve the experience. Just not chill. Parking was easy though. And there are some funny signed pins out front. read more

From check in, customer service was top tier by this lovely gentleman named Jay. It's not everyday you greeted by the manager! Such a sweet guy! Immediately told us, he'll send his best server over to us to accommodate us so we wouldn't have to keep pacing back and fourth, & MAN he was not lyingggg! Shervin seemed really cool, down to earth gentleman with his dad jokes! Food & drinks was amazing, the bowling experience and music was top tier! Prices are little much, but the awesome customer service at Pinz definitely comes with that! We found our date night every Thursday now! Took my girlfriend for a casual date. I'm a long time bowler who has traveled quite a bit, so I've been to my fair share of alleys all over. This place is really overpriced. I prebooked the lane for an hour for 2 people, $80 plus a "booking fee" of close to $9. When we arrived, shoe rental was (to my surprise) not included in the egregious $90 charge for the lane. Shoes were another $15 dollars for two pairs. They didn't have either my or my gf's size either. There was a limited amount of lighter balls available for my girlfriend (they were for reference not super crowded). Many of the balls were in rough shape, with large cracks and chipped out areas, looks like they've been in service for a while without any maintenance. Similarly was the system and The lane. The lane malfunctioned 4 times in the hour, not resetting the pins. I would press the service button on their antiquated system and wait for a few minutes, no one ever came. Would have to go up to the front desk and ask for help, and even then the workers didn't seem to listen. Eventually the lane would repin on its own though and we'd resume. We wanted to have a few beers while we played. There's a QR ordering system, but only for (overpriced) food. For drinks I was informed by the group next to us that we'd have to go to the bar for drinks, which they warned me would take some time. I went and let my gf continue bowling since we lost time on the maintenance issues. There was a single bartender and maybe 2 people waiting for their drinks. I kid you not the bartender took almost 10 minutes to make 2 margaritas for a girl ahead of me and pour me and my girlfriends two beers. Almost $20 for those. Total was $125 for two people for "an hour" getting a beer each. Pretty ridiculous, especially considering the state of the place and the service. Will never go back. read more

We hosted a birthday party for my six year old niece and 13 friends and their parents. Pinz is kind of an old school staple in Studio City. It has that nostalgia vibe with modern touches. We ordered the package with food and it was pretty decent. Pizza, Sliders, Fries, chicken tenders etc. Pinz has a large video arcade and a cocktail lounge. The music is old school rock which was kind of cool. Where they need to improve is the check in. It was a little disorganized. As far as the food buffet we had to ask several times to replenish the pitchers of beverages. It should have been attended to with fresh cups, light clean up etc. we were sort of on our own. However, all in all a good time was had by all and with kids events that's the bottom line. All the bad reviews are pretty irrelevant. It's a bowling alley not a 5 star hotel. read more
