I'm a little late posting this review, we visiting back in November. We're so happy we found this little gem! The staff is amazing and the food is delicious! We went there with my GFs to have Mexican Mariachi experience per recommendation of our hotel waiter and then a taxi driver and instead we realized we were in a crowded place full of American drunk turists with Mariachis playing and singing popular American songs with the Americans singing to it. Also, we had a non attentive waiter who wasn't happy with the fact we only wanted to have margaritas. We didn't stayed there long and decided to change the venue after we finished their humongous and overly sweet Margaritas. If you want a real Mexican experience, this place doesn't look even close to a Mexican Hacienda feel but rather like a Broken Yolk Cafe. Not worth your time and money. read more

Call Pipi's a tourist trap if you like but it's also one of the best Tex-Mex meals you'll have in PV. We've made Pipi's our mandatory first stop on every trip we've made to this wonderful Mexican city. My dad started coming to Pipi's back in the late 1980s when the then-owner Basilio would personally great every guest. Basilio even gave my dad a personal car-tour of the city. The ambiance is festive. If you aren't into loud mariachi music, come in the mid-afternoon when it's a bit quieter and not as crowded. By about 5pm tourists start flooding in and the music starts. Every table receives freshly made guac (made table side) with as much chopped jalapeños as you want (we go for super spicy). The charge is $2 and is well worth it. The lunch and dinner entrees are huge so unless you have an unlimited appetite I would suggest splitting with someone. They will bring your "split meal" on separate plates with extra garnish etc. Pipi's has all of the typical Tex-Mex dishes, giant stuffed burritos and chimichangas, fajitas, enchiladas etc. All are very good. I recommend ordering more traditional Mexican dishes (there are some on the menu) like the seafood enchiladas in a sweet red tomato sauce. Perfectly cooked shrimp and scallops wrapped in corn tortillas with a surprisingly delicious sauce which is sweet instead of spicy. The sauce is perfect with the delicate seafood. The obligatory "Spanish" rice is not bland as you find at most Tex-Mex restaurants but flavorful and well seasoned. Pipi's is, as they say, a well-oiled-machine - waiters and bus-boys, dressed in crisp which shirts and bow ties are friendly and attentive. Unlike many places, the service is fast, almost too fast so if you want to take more time to enjoy your meal, just wait to order your main course. Enjoy your perfectly made guacamole and chips with salsa, cerveza or margarita (yes, the margs are expensive, but well worth it). Take your time, it's worth it. To all the haters who think Pipi's is too touristy, there are plenty of other less touristy options in PV. But you're hard-pressed to find a more consistently good and enjoyable experience than Pipi's read more

This place is for very Americanized travelers only. It is far more expensive and the food is much lower quality than other options in the area. If you are a foodie I highly, HIGHLY recommend not coming here, the salsa is watery and they are very obviously targeted toward American foreigners. FOOD, solid 3.5 stars with some hit and miss. - shrimps enchilada, rich and tasty, but unfortunately overly salted; - chile rejeno, very nice presentation, great creamy texture a bit lacking in flavor. I'm a great fan of chile rejeno and I always ordered it in any restaurant we had the chance to try in our short trip to PV, so this one was good but not great. - Chimichanga burrito, extremely tasty and flavorful, a perfect balanced combination of creaminess (cheese), crunchiness (rice and beans) and texture (meat). Again, unfortunately really salty. - Queso fundido, simply amazing, just perfect! it's warm cheese topped with crumbled pork, very tasty! - Desserts were both disappointing, the flan was totally tasteless, just something sweet without a distinctive flavor, the fried ice cream was inedible, the fried crust was chewy and tasted old, like a moldy taste, the ice cream inside was extremely sweet. We barely touched it. - Margarita, absolutely the highlight of the entire meal, strong, balanced, very generous serving, probably the best ever tasted in the entire trip. SERVICE 3.5 stars attentive, on point, courteous. In a couple of occasion too fast, in one occasion the busser took away the plates with food while we were still eating, and in another, he proceed to take away the basket with the flour tortillas (not eaten yet) that we were saving for the main courses. We have always come here once a year when we go to Mexico. We went last night and I have to say I was rather disappointed. I ordered the shrimp fajitas and the shrimp was so small it might have been the size of a nickel it was not cooked with the onions and mushrooms it was laid on top. There was so much salt in it and Mexican oregano that I woke up this morning and my eyes were so swollen it look like I had been crying all night. I asked if they had changed hands and was told no but their menu has changed quite a bit and obviously so has their food. I sincerely don't know if we will ever go back. read more

This was my fourth time at Pipi's now, and somehow this restaurant keeps getting better and better each time I go back. My first experience was after a recommendation from our resort, but now it's tradition for our family vacations. Pipi's is known for two things: sizzling fajitas and margaritas as big as your head. While at this point I can't speak for the latter, the former (and all the other Mexican favorites on the menu) are absolutely fantastic. This time I had the sour cream enchiladas, which were absolutely amazing, but their chimichangas, enormous burritos, seafood enchiladas, and the aforementioned sizzling fajitas that are literally on fire as they are brought to your table are all excellent choices with which you can't go wrong. However, the food is only one part of the Pipi's experience. While you're enjoying your food and drinks, the servers come and make fresh guacamole at your table, and fresh guacamole while in Mexico automatically beats anything you could ever have at home. On top of that, a classic Mariachi band (the real deal, not the tacky cheap ones you might think of right away) come serenade each table. La Bamba or even Sweet Caroline can be heard echoing through the joint on a regular basis, and the vibe is a constant party. If Yelp would let me give more than 5/5, I definitely would, but for now I guess I'll just give Pipi's the highest marks I can. read more
