One of my most memorable dinners in PV. The staff is very efficient and our orders arrived quickly. Highlights are their flaming fajitas, table side guacamole, and jumbo margaritas. Portions are huge! I had the supreme fajita which comes with steak, chicken, and shrimp on a bed of cast iron veggies. The restaurant is bustling and there's a Mariachi band going around, playing for the guests. Not ideal if you want a quiet dinner. The dining crowd ranged from large families to couples. The restaurant is situated between hills and close to local art galleries and shops. Would suggest taking a cab or walking instead of driving. Pipi's makes for a fun dining experience in PV. This place is great!! Have been 3 times over 4 years. Consistently excellent. Very well run place. Margaritas are excellent and gigantic. Don't have 2! Ordered the chili rellenos off the Snack menu and a chicken tostado. Two of us couldn't finish one of the dishes. Took home the tostado. The rellenos were excellent. Chips and salsa great and they refilled without us asking. Table side guacamole prep is a bonus. Mariachi musicians great with out begging for tips. Clean, well decorated clean restrooms. read more

Went down with a group of 8 people on Saturday. We loved the fact the place had A/C. Plus it had a great Mexico ha Ida feel with the stucco interior & colorful decor. The entire staff was friendly & they provided great service. We enjoyed having a guy make some guacamole for us as we watched. He made it to order. We opted for non-spicy. It was really good! The entire group said their food was delicious. The portions were big. This place is known for its fajitas and I can testify they were good. My wife & I ordered the chicken & steak fajitas and they came with fried onions & green peppers. The tortillas were good but we only got three. Would have liked to have at least 2 each since there was a lot of food. We didn't have margaritas but they were big and the others loved them. Our only frustration came when I paid the bill but didn't get an itemized bill. The total bill didn't seem too much to me since we shared one fajita meal had a few drinks and a dessert too. I tipped the waiter well. But my wife found out afterwards what the other 3 couples paid for their meals & they each had two meals plus more drinks. Nice restaurant in downtown Puerto Vallarta. Friendly staff, and attentive service. A mexican trio comes around, and plays at your table, with you request them to. I enjoyed Mr. Pipi's special. The Lobster with garlic sauce is also a good choice. However, I ordered their World Famous Pipi's Magarita; horrible. It didn't taste good at all. I took a few sips, and left most of it on the table. We had a fantastic time at Pipi's! We had local friends take us there and the place didn't disappoint us! We had a ball! The food was great, and the portions were big. I had fish, (You can't go wrong in Vallarta with fish!) and it was fabulous! The margaritas were huge... I had one, and it took me all evening to finish it. The whole atmosphere was upbeat and fun, but not obnoxious. There were a couple of birthdays, and those were fun! The mariachi band played American songs which was fun too: John Denver's Country Roads, Santana's Oye Como Va, and others... Intermingled with traditional Mexican favorites. I just loved this place! We were a group of seven and tried several different menu items. First, the margaritas were HUGE and some in our group tried a flavored margarita. We ordered two table side guacamoles, one mild and one medium. They both had great flavor. My favorite bite of the evening was the queso, which isn't the queso we get in the states. It was gooey flavorful cheese and chorizo served in a cast iron skillet. It was AMAZING! Finally, I ordered the mixed fajitas which were really good. We will be back! read more

Our taxi driver recommended here and we weren't that pleased. I had way better fajitas back in the states. The meat (steak) was very bland and didn't have much color to it. Some charred-ness would've been nice. My boyfriend got a chimichanga and it was huge! But he said it wasn't that great. The margaritas are also huge! And I mean huge! They tasted more like a slushy margarita -- not really my kind of margarita. This place really seemed more like quantity over quality. The sizes will wow you and you think you're getting the bang for the buck. But the flavor is just not there! We ordered guacamole and they make that fresh at your table! That was pretty cool and yummy. The service was magnificent. They were so welcoming and accommodating. They saw me get burned by the fajita tray and almost everyone ran over to see if I was okay and repositioned it. If you come, get the guac! Other than that, the food is meh. I love Pipi's even though it is the ultimate tourist restaurant. But, it is unique and not part of some god-awful chain (Hard Rock, etc.) We have going to Pipi's since 1995. It is always our first restaurant meal in Puerto Vallarta. When it is crowded I really enjoy watching the well-oiled machine in operation. They must do about 8-10 turns a day here. This visit was very different (in a good way) from our previous ones. 1. We walked in at 1530 and were the only customers. It was quiet and relaxing. Just perfect for us and a long, slow lunch. We did not order out main plate until we had finished our guacamole. 2. The food. a. Not the guacamole as that was the usual delicious made-at-table-side. We savored it while drinking alcoholic beverages. b. The Enchiladas Mariscos were fabulous. Mexican food and not "Mexican" food for tourists. Four enchiladas (we shared the plate and they split it with extra sides of rice and fruit) with shrimp and scallops. Covered with a sweet tomato sauce that was a perfect accompaniment. The seafood was cooked perfectly and very tender. + Staff is always on point. + Spotless. We have been here twice now, roughly a year apart and I was feeling a little nervous coming back after having such fond memories from our first visit and seeing some negative reviews here. Fortunately my fears were unfounded. This is a truly lovely experience, from the roving guacamole man making fresh quac to your taste at table side, to the live mariachi band (singing in Spanish unless you specifically request something in English), the attentive care.. . Seriously attentive care - our server brought a container of ice and used tongs to add ice to my glass before refilling the ice tea.... Much preferred over a watered down pitcher of ice tea. The margaritas are legendary, and they don't just add extra mix and ice to reach their size. The fajitas are flamed at the table, perfectly marinated chicken, very tender, grilled to perfection on top of a bed of roasted peppers, onions and mushrooms. The portion was so large that they wife and I were full splitting one order. The location is a bit squirrelly to try to park near, I would suggest taking a cab if you are not already walking along the Malecon. It's not hard to find, just walk up Pipila street. While only -30% of the crowd seemed local, the food was better than we have been getting at the high end resort we are staying at. We will be coming back. read more

The margaritas have cheap booze and not much of it. No longer do they have 2 for 1 at Pipis if you order an entrée. Recommend sharing the margarita - it is supersized and one, meaning two, is plenty for one. The fajitas are alright, served sizzling to your table. The Ranchero plate was acceptable. Complementary chips and salsa are well done. Pipis has excellent management and made a special effort to seat a party of 12 promptly. This weekend I finally visited Pipi's for the first time. The food was good and they have fairly large servings. Staff was friendly and spoke English, although I opted to speak in Spanish so I can practice. During the day the restaurant is not crowded, however, at night I have personally seen this place crowded and people waiting to get in. The facility was clean, however, menus are a bit sticky. Arguably my overall fave place in Puerto Vallarta for their margaritas (cadillac, especially) and food. I've been here now about five times, between three trips, and the one thing I'm most impressed with is their utter consistency re: quality. The margaritas are, for me, hands-down, the best I've had in Puerto Vallarta. Sidenote: you wouldn't think it would be so difficult finding a decent margarita in PV, but it is! My friends tell me I make the best margs they've ever had - so maybe I hold places to a difficult standard? ‍ Anyway, PiPi's has really nailed their recipe - the margaritas are perfectly balanced, complex, refreshing and delicious! Also, the guacamole hits every time! You might think, but it's Puerto Vallarta...of course the guacamole is going to be good wherever you go. I am telling you, not the case. Disappointingly. At PiPi's, though, they crush it. I've also had their fajitas and quesadillas and, as usual, top notch and delicious! I'm all about variety and trying as many places as possible, but I always make it a point to visit PiPi's multiple times every trip. And I can't forget the always lovely and endearing service. After touring the beauty of Puerto Vallarta we thought what a better way to end it than with a meal at a well regarded restaurant before returning back to the ship. Pretty unusual name for a Mexican restaurant, but it's all good. We got seated and immediately the waiter came over for drinks. As soon as he left the chips and salsa made its way over. Right after that we had a guy making table side guacamole. He blurted out mild, medium or hot and we all said medium. After we got our drinks, some chose the monster margarita and a few of us had a couple of bohemia's, we were ready to order. I ordered the pork marinated in a red sauce. Another friend ordered the lobster. The red sauce was tasty with the pork, but the pork was a bit dry and chewy. The lobster was amazing, as a friend let me try hers. Overall, I really enjoyed this place and even though my pork was not as good as I hoped, I would definitely come back and try something else. read more

We were nicely greeted by our server Jorge Pajita as we ordered one of PiPi's famous and Huge Cadillac Margaritas. Jorge was verfy nice as is all of the employees at PiPi's. PiPi's always makes each table some Free Guacamole served with freshly fried tortilla chips. My wife ordered a Chili Rellano and I had a Red Chicken Enchilada.
