Pita Jungle tends to be consistent with food, ordering online or eating at their restaurants. We were the first to be there shortly after opening and the timing on food coming out was solid so they do a great job prepping for opening. Kudos to the staff and kitchen on that. The food was good, always feels like a quality meal and that you get your moneys worth. The only thing I thought was not great was the the service. Always a fine balance in checking in too much and just right amount of times, but this time it felt like the server was overwhelmed or focused more on other tables. Haven't had any better hummus than Pita Jungle's. My favorite is their original flavor and then the red bell pepper. You can order it as a duo or trio for the same price. We go to Pita Jungle regularly. We like the freshly made food that is healthy yet delicious! The moderate prices make it easy to come back. This time my husband ordered the chicken Mediterranean salad, one of our all time favorites from the menu. It's kind of a mix between a tabouli salad and a Greek salad with chunks of freshly grilled chicken. It has a fresh lemon vinaigrette. I tried something new- the chicken del sol. it was a chicken stew with corn, black beans, tomatoes and a tasty, savory broth. The stew was surrounded by 8 pita bread wedges covered with cheddar cheese and a touch of chili powder, arranged as a "sun" around the stew. Very cute and fun to eat, and tasted wonderful! I went to lunch Tuesday afternoon at Pita Jungle! It's located in a shopping plaza in Happy Valley. My colleague and I arrived around 1:00 P.M for lunch. We ended up sitting at the bar area since there was plenty of open seating. Pita Jungle had their normal menu and their seasonal menu! The bartender was super helpful. He kept our beverages full and was constantly asking if we needed anything. We had ordered the following for our meals -Hummus (Large) with Whole Wheat Pita and Pita -Salmon Salad -Chicken Philly Cheese (Bell Peppers, Chicken, Cheese in a wrap, no onions) The order came out relatively quickly after we placed it. We didn't wait longer than 15 minutes for the food to arrive. The quantity was so large! You could fit their meal for a lunch and dinner! The food also came out very hot! The Chicken Philly Cheese didn't sit around in the back. It came out fresh and hot. The chicken was cooked to perfection, and the peppers were grilled just right. The peppers weren't soggy. The cheese was a perfect touch in the wrap! I would order the Chicken Philly Cheese again! The Hummus was also good, large portions! It came with two large Pitas, not cut, but circular on separate plates. I'm so glad that I got to try this place out while I visited Arizona! I'll be back here again if I get a chance. I have never had a bad meal or service. Unfortunately yesterday was the exception. My friend and I was seated promptly then 2 seconds later our server showed up wanting to take our drink order. Not a hello, just, do want to start with hors d'oeuvres and a drink? We both needed a minute to look at the menu. When we asked for club soda he brought it right back, you could see it had no bubbles. So I guess it irritated him I asked for another glass with fizz. He didn't come back to take our order for at least 10 minutes. When they brought the food to us my friend said her food was just warm but our server never checked on us. When he brought our bill it was the peoples sitting next to us. I had to get up and ask him to correct it. It was a disappointing lunch to say the least. read more

As the holidays are upon us and I was shopping I stopped into my favorite Mediterranean joint . I got the new tortilla soup which was very warm and reminded me of home . Not to mention there were a lot of available spots for parking around this time . my server was great as well I think her name was Marlaina she was very knowledgeable about the menu and suggested I try the new soup and although it was very busy I still was taking care of in a fashionable time and I love the ambiance . This is our go-to local vegan spot. Four stars instead of five because I've never found a more inconsistent restaurant. You never know if your tofu is going to be in chunks or slices, or if the mushrooms will have paprika or not, and sometimes the veggies are undercooked. Keeps things interesting, and service is great, so we average once a week there. Here are our fav items from their vegan menu: Ginger turmeric veggies Garlic mushrooms Falafel Hummus trio (ask for greek pita, if you want the fluffier kind) Right now, they also have a caramelized onion/cauliflower tahini dish. It's so good. Unless you get it gluten-free, then it's not so amazing, but just pretty good. My husband gets a variety of things, because he's far less boring than I am. Pita Jungle has been one of my go to favorites for years! Their consistency with service, healthy and tasty food quality has always been on point. I highly recommend the Macro Platter, the Keto Platter, the Tuna salad, the Mahi Mahi entree, even the basic Pita Gyros are delicious. Most of their locations now have a small bar where you can eat solo if you prefer instead of a table. I wish I could give Pita Jungle 10 stars, it truly deserves that high of rating for me. I've heard of people being put off by the servers being dressed unprofessionally or just not asking you every second if you are ok, but that's part of the vibe here, high quality food in an unpretentious laid back atmosphere. I've been eating at Pita Jungle since 1996 at the original spot in Tempe. Probably eat at a pita 3-5 times a week. Went to the desert ridge location this week while running errands. Ordered the same stuff we order every time (we come for specific dietary stuff) only to be told that corp has decided that they won't sell certain items unless you buy a meal that has it listed (1 offering by the way at twice the price and ingredients). At a time when folks are price and health conscious it's easy to find alternative places to eat and spend money and not be taken advantage of for price and selection. Got takeout for lunch this week. When I called to order food the restaurant was so noisy at 11 o'clock the server could not hear me to take my order. Placed me on hold and came back to take my order and asked me to speak really loud. Upon arrival of my food is ready to go in the server got my iced tea. I ordered a turkey lavash pesto wrap with grilled vegetables and it was delicious. So much left over I had it for dinner the following night. Went here on a date night, and sat on the long patio along the side street - odd space but pretty quiet and private. Started being surprised at the delicious fresh black iced tea, sweetened with something like berries or another fruit - served in a big glass and refills aplenty. The menu here is purposefully healthy, for good and bad. Good: everything I had tasted great and was well executed with fresh, unique flavor combos that gave a nod to the originality of the Mediterranean region. Bad: I expected to get fries with my pita, and I could not - they don't have fries. Is that PJs bad? Not really, but my expectations were wrong. Now your expectations can be accurate! I adjusted, no biggie, and was still able to enjoy the very fresh pita with hummus and tabouleh, a Philly steak inspired pita, and a chicken and rice dish - all fresh and tasty. Was the recomended smashed-potato, fry-substitute sub-par because of my unmet expectations regarding my preferred pita-accompanying starch, or just because they were greasy and lacking salt? Overpriced crap. Horribly inconsistent. I've tried several times to eat here and it just became apparent that this place is just not good. I usually order the Kefta burger, it's a crap shoot, when it's good, it's pretty good, but only 25% of the time it's a nice hot and juicy patty and a solid bun, 75% of the time it's a dry and burnt patty. Tonight was the latter. The meat was so dry, the whole burger just fell apart. The bun is so dry it can't handle the patty and the toppings, and literally disintegrates in your hands. This usually happens with a gluten free bun, but not listed as being served on one. $16 and change for this disaster. Garlic new potatoes are dry and salt less. The pita chips are always hard, stale and chewy like they are days old and our 2 "bags" of chips had like 6 chips in each bag about the size of a large baggie. Lemon chicken rice soup, no lemon flavor at all, and $7 for a bowl vs a cup, that wasn't even full. Barely got 2 servings. The chicken in the shawarma was dry, all the food was cold. This place is a joke, I spent $105 on take out for 8 people. You'd figure you'd spend a little time on quality for the RIDICULOUS prices they charge. Never again, lesson learned. I'll stick to my decades long favorite, Chicago Gyros on 7th Ave and Union Hills and Sabas Mediterranean on Tatum and Bell. Those are authentic Greek places, Pita Jungle is corporate, hippie Greek food. Save yourself the hassle. Trust me. read more
