FOOD: Great food. Cashier wasn't truly knowledgeable about the food. I had the falafel pita & hubs had the OG. Both were yummy. Hummus was great, as was the mushroom soup. (Not crazy about the self-serve soup, but that's my opinion.) Fries were legit--I couldn't stop eating them. No pics, but the old ones are still accurate. ATMOSPHERE: Inside was ok. We would've sat outside if it hadn't been so hot or if there had been a shaded table available. Bathroom needed attention. The worst part of the meal for me was picking up the sticky ketchup bottle. I went to this place with my Mediterranean friend. Ironically, I ordered the (Mediterranean) gyro and my friend ordered the (Asian) rice bowl. Both were just plain. I was not very impressed with the gyro meat, but the tzatziki sauce was nice and creamy. Out of the 3 curries, I think the Thai Bowl is probably the best one. You have the choice of getting curly fries with your gyro, which I thought was weird, so I chose the tabouli salad to go with my gyro. Our family was visiting Crested Butte in the mud season, so we were super grateful for the restaurants that were open in this "off-season." We had a great experience at Pitas in Paradise- our family of five devoured the loaded greek fries, hummus, and OG gyros. The cocktails are creative and delicious - the watermelon sangria was 100. We enjoyed the lamb sliders as an appetizer. I thought they tasted fresh, not gamey and the caramelized onions and tzaziki sauce on the Kings Hawaiian buns just made that dish. We also had Greek salads which were good. They have a soup bar where you can choose a soup with your salad. My husband chose a beef chili which was delicious. The staff was helpful, and came over to accommodate a guest who joined us, but let us enjoy our food and conversation without bothering us. We stayed for 2 hours! We are here a couple of times during Spring Break and the food & drinks were consistently good. Best Vegetarian options - we had Hummus & Pitas, Veggie wrap & added tofu, Curly fries, Veggie Pita & added tofu & I kinda made my own dish - side of the Jasmine rice and poured a cup of the Hungarian Mushroom soup on top and side of pitas. It was damn good!!! Oh and the Baklava......Omg. I've had a lot of Baklava and the Pitas in Paradise Baklava is definitely in my top 3 best I've ever had. Don't Try any Rice bowl item here. Tasteless food I have ever had in USA. No sign of spice or salt, and not prepared correctly. Just ingredients were mixed up together, but from the name and ingredients list, it sounds the most delicious food ever you are going to eat. I stopped here for lunch after seeing such a wonderful reviews online. I ordered third rice bowl and chicken shawarma wraps. Chicken wraps were just okay. I did not see any sign of mediterranean touch in any of the food items that I ordered. Either they need to remove their chef or remove rice items from menu list. Additionally, they need to visit some other mediterranean restaurants in different cities and states to see how good food other places are serving. My first and last visit to this place. We came in for some lunch during 'happy hour' and the woman taking our order told us about the food specials going on so that we could get the best price for our money. Ok, so I will start by saying that we visited during the Fourth of July so I'm sure it was a bit busier than normal. We got seated right away and placed our drink orders right off the bat (most important things first, right?) We waited over 25 minutes for our simple mixed cocktails & one of the people at our table still did not have his after 40 minutes!!!! Unacceptable! Our waitress rarely stopped by our table and you could tell she wasn't thrilled to be on shift. Our food was super slow & to be honest, not all that impressive. My wife and I arrived here to eat dinner right after the community softball game. I think we had two softball teams in the restaurant. Also it look like we had half of the local residence. Recommended by a local, it's hard to go wrong. After a long day of skiing, a pita sounded perfect. What we didn't realize was that it was more of a bar than a take out restaurant and we loved it. It was full of locals, lots of energy, everyone was watching the games, and it made for a great experience. I had a a chicken pita because I was really in the mood for it but the happy hour specials are definitely worth it. Usually mountain food isn't THIS good. But here's a little secret: Crested Butte has tons of food options, and not just your standard run of the mill stuff either. After doing some May snowshoeing us gals had worked up quite an appetite. I thought this at first was a casual order than sit down kind of place, but they actually do wait on you (and slow at that). We...waited...for...everything...including waters. However, that said, the food was pretty impressive. We started off with some hummus appetizers and warm pita bread. They offer gyros and other standard Mediterranean fare. They have these rice bowls as well that seemed to catch most of our eyes, though. They do half and full bowls of various curries and your choice of chicken, beef, or tofu. You can choose to get a mix of the curries called "Third Bowl" since there are three different to choose from. I chose a half rice chicken bowl with Thai Curry and the Bombay bowl. It had a tiny bit of kick and an amazing flavoring. I was surely impressed and couldn't even finish half the thing. So I would think the half size would be the choice to go with for most people. Our food took FOR-E-VER to come to our table that my husband and I were joking that the chefs went out back to kill and cook the lamb for our "original gyro" that we ordered. There was one waitress (nice girl) and about 3 cooks inside with only 5 tables full. Putting together a gyro doesn't take that long to do guys - it's lettuce, tomatoes, feta, and slices of lamb! Ugh! So, back to the food.... We ordered their garlic hummus which is nothing short of garlic. My husband is a garlic freak so he didn't mind but I thought it was toooooo garlic-y. It was still good though. Then our orginal gyro with a side of greek pasta salad come and it was mediocre. The greek pasta salad was too dry and needed some olive oil or something. It was made with orzo pasta, loaded with feta and kalamata olives and probably some seasonings. I needed a tall glass of water to wash it down because I couldn't swallow from dryness. The gyro was ok - nothing to write home about. I guess when you come from the largest Middle Eastern part of the world, besides the Middle East, your expectations are realllllllllly high. Well, it was time for my semi-annual visit to Pitas. I used to be a regular, but that was under the past ownership at their old location. Since the glory days, I now only go when dragged there by someone else. I keep hoping something positive will change. Sadly, it just get more and more expensive and the gyros get smaller. If you've spent any time in Crested Butte, you should know that everything runs on a different clock. Expect your food to take a while. Expect food and service at Pitas to take twice as long. That being said, the food is definitely worth the wait. Grab an order of hummus/baba ganoush with extra pitas if you're starving, and sit back for a while. We tend to order a combination of gyros and thai chicken bowls (order a 1/2 bowl unless you can eat like a football player - these things are huge). The gyros are excellent, and I love the seasoned curly fries that come with. The thai chicken bowls come with rice and a great, flavorful sauce. If you're in the mood, I'd also recommend ordering an ADD shake (though I think it has a more PC name now). The best chocolate-espresso shake around. We come here regularly when we're in town - the food is always good. read more

I crave this place so much that I have literally had to talk myself down from making the 5 hour drive just to eat here. Their gyro and curly fries are just amazing. The lamb is tender and perfectly spiced, their tzatziki is crisp and cool, and their curly fries are spicy and crunchy. It probably helps that I always come here after a long morning hike and am starving to death, but this place always blows me away. As some have said, the service is painfully slow (especially when you are starving) but come on, this is the a small mountain town. Relax, take it all in, no need to rush. Chill out man! read more
