My fiancé and I came here the first weekend it was open on Friday night. We anticipated wait so the 30-45 min wait time wasn't a huge deal. We ordered two pizzas and they were pretty darn good. So two stars for the pizza. I cannot give any more stars though. The person seating us walked us over to the communal table. When we asked if we could sit side by side (vs across from each other) as they indicated, the answer was no. Seriously? You're telling us how to position ourselves in this establishment? Hmmmmm... On our walk back towards the front, we suggested a table we saw open and again, we got a no. It's for "larger parties" we were told. We'd have to wait a bit longer to be seated due to our preferences. We reluctantly said ok because we already waited for 40 minutes from the jump and we were hungry. The guy came back rather swiftly (a minute or two) and seated us at the table we had just suggested. Hmmmm.... Ordering took a good 20 minutes or so. I sat at our table while my fiancé tackled the line. Not exactly great for the date night vibes we were going for. I will say the gentleman who seated us checked on us several times and seemed to have a different energy. He felt more calm and present - like he actually cared. Perhaps he caught how he came off to us initially. We appreciated his demeanor and pleanstness. The music was all over the place. I hate to say it, but there was no vibe created by it other than chaos. The songs that came on and seemed to fit the place (upbeat pop) were nice to hear, then they would switch to a totally different genre. It was odd. Finally, there were lots of families and children. Service was slow all around. Maybe they weren't really staffed well for opening week, but it sucked being on the other end of it as a customer. The entire experience from putting name in for a table to leaving was just under 3 hours. This place died down with the family rush around 7:30pm on a Friday night. Perhaps once the families eat the vibe is different? The only other thing I'd mention is the decor, color scheme, and theme of the place - it felt adolescent. Like a great hangout spot if you are a teen or young twenty-something. It felt like a cafeteria at the end of the day. Super casual, loud, and frenetic. If that's cool with you, then definitely drop by because the pizza is pretty great. read more

Terrible first experience here. Arrived at 6pm we were told 20-30 min wait, we had to ask at the 40 min mark how much longer the wait was (4 adults+ infant) as soon as we were seated we ordered pizzas/salad/knots and kids parm noodle plate. Somehow the kids order got mixed up as Mac and cheese, it took 90 mins for pizza to come out from ordering. In the mean time there were kids running around and screaming throughout the building, I'd guess around 14. (Not blaming them for this it was out of control though) Not once over the 2 hour period of time we were there did a server walk up and ask us if we needed anything. My partner always gets the mushroom field pizza which is incredible and I always get the vegan pizzas and they're delicious! Put in a large order for a party on one of the busiest days of the year and all the pizzas came out consistent, tasty, and on-time.

We just had our daughter's 5th birthday at Pitfire today and hands down was the best experience. We had 15 kids all 5 an under make pizzas. Donavan and the staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. Even with all the craziness, they remained calm and patient with us. The pizza was delicious too! Great beer/wine selection and delicious cocktails. To top it off, such a great space to host a birthday party. Will definitely be coming back! Thanks again for such a nice day. read more

Pizza is good with good dough - no premade yuck. Cheese knots are tasty too. Chopped salad is full of veggies - I added chicken and it's big enough for two! Highly recommend, especially weeknights with the less crowded open air seating. Nice bar area as well. read more

You gotta love this new joint. The food quality is remarkable and the staff is engaged and having fun - in aggregate, the two create space for a remarkable experience. The quality of the ingredients is evident. You have to try the Field Mushroom pizza - the fontina, enoki and cremini shrooms deliver a huge flavor profile. Ideally, I would like the undercarriage of the pizza to be crisper and the crust was a bit par baked, but the shrooms did the heavy lifting so I would give it a solid 7.9 bar stool sports rating (with a few minutes longer in the pit, we are looking at an 8.9). Also, it is hard to be passionate about meatballs, but you talk about flavor... yum. The Roasted Cauliflower is an also a straight winner. The only disappointment is the wine selection, think there is room for improvement there but it was refreshing to learn that Tony, the GM agrees and he is working on carrying some higher end vino. Tony is running a great operation and we deeply appreciate Pitfire supporting our kids school as they just did a fundraiser for the school last night. If you live in North County and you aren't allergic to pizza, then you're morally obligated to give Pitfire a shot. read more

Reviews didn't disappoint. One of the best pizza spots in north county. My husband and I love pizza so we've been trying new places. Great drinks and the food was AMAZING!!
