I called to tell them they got the order wrong and they tell me that I need to change how I ask for it. How was it right the first 100 times I ordered it? Normally a huge fan of pizza diamore. My go to spot for lazy Friday dinners. I normally order the 6 slice pies or the square pies but this time it was just the two of us I ordered individual slices and garlic knots. I'm not sure if they had the slices sitting out but I had two different sizes and textures of 2 plain slices. The garlic knots had no garlic in it. The bread tasted stale and just reheated with some dried parsley and Parmesan cheese sprinkled on them. I guess I have to go back to ordering a whole pie or slices somewhere else and no more garlic knots. read more

After a five minute wait we made it in, led to a better table The place is humming and everyone is chowing down We remembered to bring a bottle of our favorite red, which the busboy handily opens and pours We had to wait a bit for out waiter, but it wasn't a big deal because of the delicious wine the staff is made up of attentive young men of high school and college age, who impressively k is their stuff. The menu is pretty extensive and we order the baked clams to start. They were just ok. Found the beading to be soggy, something they need to correct,as I like the bread crumbs to be crunchy. The entrees come in due course and we dig in. Veal Marsala and chicken franchisee. Both are excellent and plenteous. The sauce is a bit different than I'm used to ,delicious and creamy We finish with a chocolate gelato, which I've raved about in a previous review. We had our family holiday party at Pizza D'Amore in Mill Basin in their party room and it was wonderful! The elegant room was beautifully set up as we requested, the food was absolutely superb and in abundance, and the service was excellent. Robert made sure everything was served on time. The traditional dishes (chicken marsala, eggplant parmigiana, chicken bruschetta, penne with broccoli etc.) were all cooked to perfection and enjoyed by my guests. Tonight turned out to be a fabulous culinary adventure. The Chef's Table was a fabulous dinner starting with bruschetta, tomatoe and olive salad, then a delicious pasta dish. The fried calamari was to die for then came the main course which consisted of grilled chicken, veal cutlet on the bone and steak and a side of risotto. The Chef's choice of Cabernet was perfect. I am sorry to have to write this review after a decade of ordering food from Pizza D'Amore...I have no choice. There have been mistakes in the past - food delivered wrong - and I never once turned to publicly air my grievances. That ends now. In today's day and age, when a business (sales or service) makes an honest (or careless) mistake, just apologize and correct. Details: I ordered a sandwich from a restaurant which is our family's "go to" place last night. We were coming home from the vet with our dog around 11. I specifically ordered my sandwich without peppers because I'm allergic (mouth sores, bloody gums, rash, and terrible stomach pains) (See below). My sandwich arrived around 1030pm with lots of peppers. When I got home and went to eat, I saw this - but the restaurant was now closed. I therefore took a picture at 1110pm. (See below) Took a picture at 1110pm. This afternoon, I called the restaurant to ask for a credit since I can't eat the sandwich. Right away, the first thing the young girl on the phone asked me was "why did you wait till today to call?" in the tone which implies I was either trying to missile them out of a free meal or that I was an idiot. Even after I explained that I received my meal after 10pm and that I did not sit down to eat it till I got home, and by then the restaurant was closed - she brushed off my answer. She failed to say the following: "I'm sorry. Let me get your name to investigate. We will make it right of course!" She made me aware that she had to consult with a manager, who was not there now - and would be back in an hour (what kind of restaurant has a manager that leaves the premises for an hour?) She reiterated that she couldn't tell me if they'd give me a credit.... really ... that's pretty sad. Her explanation - "it's not like we can take it back now a day later". Was this going to be served to someone else had I managed to get it back to them before closing time? What kind of answer is that? Now this goes on yelp, and opentable. I'll tell you - I order from this restaurant because I enjoy the food but I won't eat in the restaurant because they have young kids manning the table. You ask for parmesan cheese - you have to wait because some young kid is texting his or her significant other. read more

Took more than 2 hours to deliver on new years eve after stating 1 hr. I kept calling and no one answered after 1 hr and 30 mins. If you are going to be this late, you should notify customer. Then, we received a salty burnt pizza pie which I felt bad feeding my kids or my dad. This was not the usual baked ziti we get as the portion got really small. We asked for crushed pepper, garlic for pizza and butter for bread and did not receive after confirming with host which is second time this has happened. We've been customers of the mill basin location for close to six years and we've tried to communicate our frustration to no avail and must now say farewell. Their food is phenomenal and plesss know this review is based on their service for delivery/takeaway and is one of the worst in this area. Whether you call for delivery or place through a service like seamless or grubhub, you'll be met with the following mistakes; Mistakes that happen numerous times. - your order will be wrong (ask for whole wheat, you're sent regular), you address and get an apology (no offer to correct it?) - you ask about that status of an order, you're told it's on it's way. You call again and again (1:55 minutes from ordering and 55min late), no apology just that they have a lot of tickets and posh blame from one person to the other - you ask for a manger, you're hung up on, you call back and again placed on hold to then be hung up on - the young ladies you speak to are unapologetic, offer excuse after excuse, and get hung up on again I'm personally in the service industry and there are just no excuses that justify these mishaps. So a few words of advice to management: - get better delivery drivers if that's the source of your problem for food coming late - get a better handle on firing food timing vs delivery driver availability - get better take-out/counter staff as they pass blame on everyone else (if it's not the person handling the tickets, it's the cook or the driver) - LISTEN to your customers if they complain (within reason) - Don't make excuses, just apologize and take the extra step to rectify issues if they're consistently made. After seeing all the great reviews for this pizza place, I decided to place an order with Uber Eats for delivery yesterday. On the app, I specified that I wanted a medium sized (6 slices) cheese pizza with pepperoni and sausage. I was asked to check off the box for either undercooked, just cooked, or well done. I checked off well done. I also added in the instructions that I wanted it to be baked longer so that the pizza would be crispy (well done). They then give you the option to choose your drink. I was led to believe that this order would come with a 2-liter bottle of soda because that's what was stated on their menu on the app. The delivery time was decent. The Issues: I was shocked to find that when my order had arrived, it only came with a little can of soda, rather than the 2-liter bottle that was shown on the app. Initially, the pizza tasted undercooked and milky. I had to put my 2 slices in the oven for a while before attempting to eat the rest of it. Even after doing that, it didn't seem to make any difference because it still didn't taste right. It was runny and the texture was still off. I barely got through one slice before throwing the rest of my slices away. A family member of mine stated that their slice also tasted undercooked and it made their stomach hurt. I did not enjoy this pizza and ended up going out to a different restaurant to replace the pizza with something more appetizing. I had already paid $33 and change for the convenience of this delivery, only to be forced to pay more money to replace this food that did not meet my expectations. Such a waste of money... What a strange place. We walked in on a Friday night to find a half empty restaurant with the lights turned all the way up. That should have been a sign for us to leave, but we stayed. After being seated, I came to discover they do not serve wine, restaurant is BYOB. Oh, great. We still ordered anyway. Our bruschetta appetizer had a HAIR in it. Waiter was embarrassed and apologetic. He gave us a new one; I would have rather a refund, but OK, I didn't fight it. Our food was mediocre. Even though I am a native brooklynite even I thought I was traveling to the end of the world! Despite the isolated location, this is truly a hidden treasure. The decor is sleek and clean, but nothing special - the food is the star here. Large portions for the cost (although I am likely disillusioned by hipster Brooklyn prices) and delicious authentic Italian cuisine. The food was tasty and hearty. They serve the entire table fresh, saucy, doughy focaccia bread and in addition we ordered the pizza, which my friends claimed was "better than L&B's." While that wasn't exactly true (it came in a close ...third; "the slice" in SI takes second) it was a flavorful sauce topped with fresh mozzarella and a thinner crust than L&B. We shared a burrata mozzarella salad with arugula that had the perfect creamy texture it should, doused in a light savory olive oil. Had I known how large the portions were I wouldn't have ordered a soup and salad, a seemingly light order- alas I am pretty sure my tortellini soup had a pound of pasta in the bowl! One of my friends thought the soup was salty but I think it was a standard level of saltiness and loved the addition of fresh spinach. FYI the bowl was the diameter if a standard dinner plate! I ordered the spinach strawberry salad and only got to sample the candied nuts. I tasted some of my friends food and nothing disappointed. Lastly, they fill the cannolis on demand and I really regret tasting it because I embarrassingly spooned the entire Inside of one! Oh, did I mention it was BYOB? We ordered half pepperoni and half sausage pizza on Wednesday September 13, 2023. Have you ever been so hungry you felt like it was an eternity when the food actually came? We were careful to check off WELL DONE when we placed our order through Slice. When the food actually arrived, we got the opposite of what we asked for. The pizza was soggy and the presentation was awful. I have never seen a pizza place cut up sausage in squares on a pizza. Worse? The sausages tasted rotten and looked undercooked at the same time. The sauce was chunky and tasted terrible. The sauce appeared to be coagulated near the bottom of the pizza. I took one bite and recoiled in absolute disgust. The pizza was salty and tasted absolutely disgusting! I am wondering how is this place still in business. To make matters worse, their prices are astronomical. Why??? This is truly the worst pizza I have ever eaten in my life. I can honestly say I took half of the pizza and dumped it in the trash. It wasn't even worthy of my trash can. This is my go to place when I'm craving old style Italian food. I always order pickup and the food is ready upon arrival. My favorite pizza from here has to be the chicken Caesar salad, full of grilled chicken and just the right amount of cheese. I am a huge fan of their chicken Alfredo- always get the breaded chicken!- and chicken Parmesan with spaghetti. Their zeppole are yummy as well. Have no opinion on the pizza, but the service sucks. I placed an online order, which in spite of my choosing a specific time, their system reflected as later. I immediately called and asked if the order could be delivered earlier than the time reflected in the system, and was assured it could, yes. I pointed out that the order is going to a daycare for lunch for children, and asked for the pizza to be cut into smaller pieces. Of course. When I called 15 minutes AFTER the promised time I was informed that my order was waiting for the driver to return from a "17 pie order which was scheduled". That's great for you, but you promised me to deliver food by a certain time FOR KIDS. There is a hungry daycare of toddlers waiting for your driver to return to bring their food because you lied - I would have placed the order somewhere else. Shame on the ownership. Shame on the person promising deliveries when they have no intention of making them on time as promised.
