This joint right here is a good place to grab a slice of pizza. It has tables to sit and eat the pizza. Feels like a deli and pizza joint put together. Cool and relaxing ambiance and service. The pizza was tasty.

First visit and won't be our last. Driven by this place a few times so we made the effort to stop in this time. The owner was VERY friendly and even gave my man and i a free dessert. Great atmosphere..lots of school kids and locals came in and out as we ate. Nice little spot for catch up on life or even for a first date. Nice candy selection from back in the day found as well which I'll have to capture in a phone next time

Green Salad

Have been ordering from here for several years and for the majority of the time the pizza is good and salads as well. That being said, they are inconsistent with the pizza- too much sauce, not enough sauce, crust well done or not done enough.. our order tonight was disappointing for other reasons. We always get salad with our pizza and for the price of $14 for a salad you expect it to be at least fresh and the container full. My salad tonight had soggy tomatoes and was 3/4 full... sadly may be looking for other places- I can't justify the price for the quality.

This is not a Two Star to say the place was outright bad. In fact, I thought the slice of pizza I got on my last visit was just fine. I've lived in the neighborhood for years and that I've come here as of writing this (November 2022) only 3 or 4 times... Should tell you what you need. The price is exorbitant. I think it ended up being $8 for a combo slice. I get inflation, but come on. This is about a block away from Washington High School so I guess the kids are getting gouged given the lack of options. I guess there is Donairo's on Geary. Either way it's a sad slice scene in what is supposed to be Food Mecca. I feel like if you had fresh cheese slices people would drop in and grab a slice more. That said, their location isn't great given they are well up from all of the Outer Balboa shops. Very expensive for very average at best. Nothing to set it apart on the menu. Perhaps other people have had better experiences - I don't want to be negative. I just won't be back for another slice of $8 pizza.

Ordered a pizza and Greek salad. Both were great. Salad was huge- enough to share with a family. Especially Loved the crust of the pizza.

Incredibly large, thick, cheesy, and satisfying single slices available. One slice can easily function as an entire meal! Nice staff, too.

Unfortunately, there ended up being an issue with part of our order, but before we even had the chance to say anything, the team had already taken care of it for us. That honestly stood out to me more than anything. There was no awkward back and forth, no need for us to complain or ask for anything. They noticed something wasn't up to their standard and immediately made it right on their own. That level of customer service, especially on our first visit, was such a great surprise. And the pizza itself was SO good. We ended up having the pepperoni and what I believe was a vodka cheese slice, and absolutely loved both. Great pizza, even better people, and the kind of customer service that makes you want to come back. I unfortunately didn't catch everyone's names, but huge shoutout to the team working today. You guys made an amazing first impression. We'll definitely be back!

However,…read moreI never tried Detroit Style pizzas and was always curious about trying Square Pie Guys; from the reviews online it's highly praised as one of the best pizza spots in SF. I ordered the - Buffalo Wings - How Mushroom The buffalo wings were delicious and although on the pricier side, was just good enough for me to overlook it. It comes with green onions as a garnish with a Bleu cheese dip and carrot sticks. The only negative thing about this was that there wasn't enough carrot sticks. The How mushroom was recommended to me by a staff member and I thought was just a little plain; it was on the more bread side which I'm pretty sure is the standard for Detroit style pizza. In all honesty, I wish there was a bit more toppings to accommodate the amount of bread to topping ratio as this felt more of a cheesy bread sticks from Pizza My Heart. My favorite thing about this place is there were chilled glasses with taps for still water and sparkling water, which was free. In honesty, the sparkling water is an essential need to kill the grease in our meal. Overall, the staff were pretty friendly and helpful during the ordering process, the pizza itself wasn't for me. Would I come again? Only if I'm craving pizza and happen to be in the area.

It was my favorite for 50 years until a couple weeks ago when I ordered a delivery of Gioia. Wow. I stayed over in The City again this past weekend and had Gioia delivered again Saturday. I designed my own pizza with a Margherita Pizza base and then added pepperoni, Calabrian chilis, and anchovy on the side...well done/crispy. The roasted tomatoes are key...depth of flavor, umami-heaven. I'm a pain in the ass, so I call to make sure my pizza is made to spec. The staff, led by Kait, is unparalleled in their willingness to help. I just cannot recommend Gioia enough. I wish there were one in the 925, but Berkeley is as close to my home as a Gioia is based so far. I've not had a pie from Berkeley, but I believe Gioia is completely committed to maintaining the quality of their pizza. Nothing else comes close IMO. I know there's no zealot like a convert...but I'm not just being a fan boy. Oh yeah...the arugula-avocado salad is YUM, and the dressing for it like crack. DO not forget to check the box for utensils. I did not...California is a request the utensils state...and that's how I know how committed Gioia is to customer service: Kait, CALLED ME today after she'd heard I was frustrated. I can't imagine a customer not being thrilled with Gioia.

The crust is thin, foldable, and just the right amount of crispy with that great chewy bite. My friend tried the Tomato Garlic and didn't like it much, maybe just because there wasn't any tomato sauce.
