This joint right here is a good place to grab a slice of pizza. It has tables to sit and eat the pizza. Feels like a deli and pizza joint put together. Cool and relaxing ambiance and service. The pizza was tasty.

First visit and won't be our last. Driven by this place a few times so we made the effort to stop in this time. The owner was VERY friendly and even gave my man and i a free dessert. Great atmosphere..lots of school kids and locals came in and out as we ate. Nice little spot for catch up on life or even for a first date. Nice candy selection from back in the day found as well which I'll have to capture in a phone next time

Have been ordering from here for several years and for the majority of the time the pizza is good and salads as well. That being said, they are inconsistent with the pizza- too much sauce, not enough sauce, crust well done or not done enough.. our order tonight was disappointing for other reasons. We always get salad with our pizza and for the price of $14 for a salad you expect it to be at least fresh and the container full. My salad tonight had soggy tomatoes and was 3/4 full... sadly may be looking for other places- I can't justify the price for the quality.

This is not a Two Star to say the place was outright bad. In fact, I thought the slice of pizza I got on my last visit was just fine. I've lived in the neighborhood for years and that I've come here as of writing this (November 2022) only 3 or 4 times... Should tell you what you need. The price is exorbitant. I think it ended up being $8 for a combo slice. I get inflation, but come on. This is about a block away from Washington High School so I guess the kids are getting gouged given the lack of options. I guess there is Donairo's on Geary. Either way it's a sad slice scene in what is supposed to be Food Mecca. I feel like if you had fresh cheese slices people would drop in and grab a slice more. That said, their location isn't great given they are well up from all of the Outer Balboa shops. Very expensive for very average at best. Nothing to set it apart on the menu. Perhaps other people have had better experiences - I don't want to be negative. I just won't be back for another slice of $8 pizza.

Great local spot for oven baked sandwiches. Haven't had the pizza yet, but have had warm subs many times. Always a treat.

I just gave it 5 stars becuse everybody else has and I see no need to bring down the rating.) On the way back to our car from TJ Cafe, i noticed, through the window, that the wall of bottles was actually topped by a big sign saying non-alcholic! Having been a member of a non-drinking community since 1962, I was fascinated to see such display and dropped in to check it out We spent some 15 minutes with Josh, an ex-bar tender, explaining his philosophy on the social need for community life withoug depending on alcohol (See his Youtube channel: "Josh the non-Alcoholic" for more on this). Josh gave my wife a free cup of coffee since TJ Cafe down the road had no had free refills, and we entered a draw to win a bottle of non-Alcoholic French wine. Josh surprised us by telling us that the French wine industry is going big on non-alcoholic wines. I bought a can of Vanua Bliss - a Mango flavoured Kava drink - vastly different from the Kava served to me during my 3 years stay on Tanna, New Hebrides (1977 to 1980) which was made by youth chewing the kava in their mouths, spitting it out on to a coconut sheath, then pouring water into it and squeezing it into a half shell of a coconut and cerimoniously handing it to you under the shade of a huge Nambunga tree as the twilight deepened! Such are memories made of. While Kava is not alcoholic, it does have some muscle relaxant properties and give a weird buzz of the tongue. I wish him well in his endeavour to allow the teetotaler community to enjoy the social aspects of drinks with their meals, without worring about the alcohol destroying our brain cell and livers!

The omelletes were actually OK - if they'd been served on a china plate, with a lettuce leaf and orange slice garnish or something, I would probably have given them 4 stars - but on a paper plate with a plastic fork? And no free refills on the coffee? No doubt, if quick in and out food is your need, this place will suffice, but for a nice beach front atmosphere in a comfortable space with good attentive service on a Sunday morning, look elsewhere. Their website says they are a "charming eatery nestled in San Francisco, known for its cozy ambiance and delicious comfort food". Bare walls, linoleum flooring, black vinal and chrome chairs and tables are not what I call charming or cozy - but the comfort food might be delicious, however my wife and I can only say that the omlettes were good enough!

But when you want a sandwich that only tastes like its ingredients, Irving Subs is the spot. Their Dutch crunch is famous for being fresh and actually crunchy. Their lettuce is shredded but fresh and crispy. The salt content is just enough to bring out the flavors. And the overall composition of their sandwiches are very well proportioned. You're not getting skimped, but you're also not biting into a mouthful of a packet of deli meat. They definitely know what they are doing. Double pastrami, horseradish, havarti, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, pickles, and pepperoncini. A lot going on, and it all came together. The horseradish and havarti gave it enough personality to stand apart from a standard pastrami sandwich, and the garlicky mayo tied everything together. The one casualty of DoorDash was sogginess by the time it arrived. That's not a knock on the sandwich, it's just the reality of ordering something like this for delivery. At $14.50 it's a hearty sandwich at a fair price. I'd recommend it, but eat in.
