Gotta give a great review here. Needed pizza for my daughters 3rd birthday out at Tilden Merry Go Round, delivered on a Sunday at that. Called all over and no one could help me but they came through! Pizza was hot on arrival, price was good and they were very modern with their approach. Credit card over the phone, shared location to the party and we had our pizzas! This was some of the best pizza I have ever had. The veggie pizza tasted great and I really liked the thin crust style as it added a delicious crunchy taste. The gyro toppings on my other pizza tasted great too. The owner, Seyar, and his staff were exceptional, and the ghost pepper sauce really adds another enticing element of flavor that really enhanced my experience! I don't usually leave bad reviews unless it's all around bad or if I give them a couple opportunities and it's still bad. I arrived home to find their hello neighbor flyer in my screen door. I'm from the east coast so It caught my attention when I read "hand tossed east coast style pizza." We ordered a medium garlic chicken pizza and 20pc "jumbo" wings. Let's talk about this pizza, there was nothing east coast about it, the toppings were under the cheese and the crust was a major disaster taste wise, it was flavorless and I tasted no garlic. Me being me, I added salt because salt makes everything taste better...NOPE not in this case. The wings are claimed to be jumbo and authentic smh I thought authentic meant...your own recipe. It was absolutely obvious that they were some of those frozen bagged buffalo wings that you just throw in the oven and call it a day and to add insult to injury they were at least 70% fatty. I have no problem paying for quality food but for $59, sub par customer service and delivery service that went from 45 minute into an hour and forty minutes couldn't have been more disappointing. The orange crush was amazing so I'll give a star tor that otherwise, Pizza Ponte, y'all ain't ready...go back to the drawing board and start over...don't hand out flyers and not be ready to deliver on your word. read more

I grew up on Long Island and spent a large portion of my adult life in the Italian dominant hot zone (eg Caldwell, Bloomfield, montclair) of New Jersey. The Sopranos was filmed here. For anyone who isn't aware of these east coast regions...let me say that we have a very strong POV on pizza. I won't get all high and mighty on the "New York pizza is the best" bandwagon (it's true but I'm not going to go down that arrogant path). I am saying this to highlight that when a pizzeria markets that they are "authentic NY pizza"...you basically lost your credibility with me at "authentic". I've searched high and low and have tried nearly anything and everything that gets reviewed as "great Pizza in the East Bay" or "the east bay finally has a real pizza market". Nothing lives up to anything CLOSE to what I grew up eating and had the good fortune to experience in Jersey. I had all but given up and had expected to live out my Oakland days with tombstone frozen pizza....until this past weekend I decided to spontaneously stop into Pizza Ponte which is literally 5 minute walk from my home. I'm fully guilty of judging a book by its cover because the place doesn't look like it would be anything more than a Sparro airport food court slice which is why I've ignored it the past year or so. BOY WERE MY INSTINCTS WAY OFF BASE. First of all, they sell slices (3 points out of the gate). Secondly, the guy behind the counter said "that will be 3 minutes or less". 2 more points. He then brought me two slices (a virgin cheese and a pepperoni and sausage) in a small box. Took it to my car, opened the box, and did my best Dave Portnoy impression of a Bar Stool review (with no audience other than myself). Here's a recap. To start...the "undercarriage" (eg crust) was spot on. Thin but crispy. Not chewy, not overly intentionally thin, it had crisp, but it could be bent, and it was the exact texture you'd expect from a real New York slice. Next...the cheese was solid. Not the best, but sticks the landing. Not trying to be more than it needs to be. The sauce was FINE. Not worth highlighting but a good proportion and flavorful enough. The slice was not oily. This gets into an entirely religious debate. A little oil is good in my opinion, but too much is bad. This was on the dry side so it's not worth deducting points but it could benefit from a hair (drizzle) of oil so when you fold and point the slice down it leaves a mark! As for the toppings...they were above average but real Pizza lovers care less about out the toppings (think of them as ornamental) and more about the core (crust, cheese, sauce). All of those today that despite the mass pizza openings in the Oakland and Berkeley area...I am no longer in search of what I crave. PONTE has won me over. If they added a well done meatball or chicken parm then I'd likely aim to be a more frequent customer ...but for now I'll remain loyal to the pie when pizza is on the agenda! Whoever is behind this place...Keep up the good work and don't try too hard to be what us New Yorkers want...you've already gotten there ! Just stay consistent ! read more

I phoned an order for a large. When I got there and we established my order the dude says that will be $200. I said that is a bit much for a large and he said welcome to California. Got pizza home and toppings were as ordered and good. At the end of the first slice there was more disappointment as if the previous joking wasn't enough. The crust is not good. Please just do Pizza Ponte, yourselves and all future potential customers a favor and just close this business. Neighborhood deserves good pizza. Round Table or Mountain Mikes ain't it and neither is Pizza Ponte. read more

I visited Pizza Ponte recently with some of my friends for lunch and it was great! We sat outside and the ambiance was very nice and chill. We ordered a Margherita Pizza and Augustus Pizza which was a limited-time pizza with their house-made ghost pepper ranch sauce topped with gyro meat. It tasted great and the Margherita Pizza was great as well. There are also Halal options (which is what we got) as well confirmed by the owner who is Afghani Muslim, so be sure to check them out. I was looking for something to eat on Telegraph when most places were closed already by 8:30. The owner was sitting outside with a pizza and offered us to try the new special which was delicious!! We went right in and bought a whole pizza. My favorite part of pizza is usually the crust and their crust if cooked to perfection. You have to try the pink sauce which is like a spicy ranch that is so good. There's a few spots to sit inside which my friend and I did. There's also outdoor parklet seating which is a nice option too. I'll definitely be back and recommending this place for the delicious pizza and great, kind service. read more

Was hungry and decided to eat some pizza and saw that they were open. I had some recommendations from family and friends to try their pizza and so I did . I have to say, this is one of the best pizza I had in my whole life. The customer service was great, the guys in the back were very friendly and helpful and even let me try there new products which was outstandingly good. I highly recommend this place to anyone whom might want some pizza to watch a game or even to enjoy as a nice dinner or lunch. Reasonable prices for reasonable pizza. Nowhere near as good as Zacharies but infinitely better than pizza amigos.
