Two dollar Tuesday JUN2026
Franklin M.

This was my first time going on a Tuesday for their two bucks a slice deal. You have two choices of either cheese or pepperoni and they can be vegan too. The news has hit the neighborhood because it gets busy even with customers ordering whole pizzas.

Another wonderful visit to Pizzanista! The crust is super thin and perfectly crispy. My go-to is always the pepperoni pizza; it's consistently delicious and comes out piping hot every time. There's also plenty of seating available, which makes it a great spot to sit and enjoy your food without feeling cramped.

Probably the only restaurant in San Marino that I frequent. It's a small pizza joint nestled in between a couple cafe's in the relatively quiet neighborhood. On Tuesdays they do a $2 pepperoni slice. Not sure if they still do, but that's a deal for sure. Always parking available. It's a cool spot for lunch and service is super quick too. The meat lovers, mushroom, and pep slices were all great. 8.5/10's across the board. Overall, this spot is reliable and gets the job done. Sorry Tony's pizza, you're beat.

The slices are huge & a great price! I definitely recommend trying their housemade ranch. It had a strong dill flavor and was unlike any ranch that I've tried before. Limited indoor seating and there is a cool selection of merchandise that you can purchase! Ordered: Soppressata & Mushroom ($5.50), Margherita ($4.50), Meat Jesus ($6.50), Garlic Knots ($6.25)

Great spot for a slices instead of a whole pie. They had plenty of vegan options as well. Interior is tiny with a very limited number of tables, but there were a few options to sit as outside. Can't go wrong with a New York style slice.

I was craving pizza for lunch and found this place on Yelp. Came right when they open and they had a good selection of pizza available already. We got a slice of the meat Jesus and pepperoni as well as a full size mixed salad. Plenty of seating available but we chose to sit outside since it was a beautiful day. The lady working was so friendly and after heating up our pizza, she brought it out to us. Salad was very fresh and appetizing since the dressing was slightly sour. Pizza was so good. My pepperoni had a slight kick to it. Crust was pretty thin and crunchy. We will definitely return if we're ever in the area again!

How do you even staple it like this? I just wanted pizza my bad gang

Don't know what i did to piss of the sassy dude that warms the pizza but don't come here if you want bad energy pizza, overcooked the pepperonis gave me a piece with no toppings all yeast , And there was a pdf looking dude just staring the whole time a lil creepy not a friendly place, the cashier was nice , and stapled my bag all weird so it mess tearing, who does that? just deny me service, I was polite payed for my food like any other customer would, I waited awkwardly there expecting the food to be ready for a moment (that probably did it for him) (emotionally driven btw) cause it reminded me of sbarro and it' kinda taste like it too god bless though

This is my favorite spot when I'm in the area Pizzaniata never fails They have another location by the fashion district of DTLA Definitely a top pizza spot Go try it

Made lunch plans with our neighbors and they suggested Pizzanista! as they have vegan options for them. Though we drive up/down Los Robles almost daily, we rarely venture into this section of San Marino. Love the small town feel of mom and pop shops on Mission. I think the only other time we were nearby was when we dined at Julienne down the street. Pizzanista! had quite a few pizzas on display and we decided to try 4 different slices of pie. Loved the sicilian pepperoni as there were some nice crunchy bits of pepperoni. Thought the sourdough crust was also pretty tasty and had a nice crunch. My favorite slice had to be the soppressata and mushroom. I thought the flavors were perfectly balanced. Wife ordered the margherita which I thought was decent but was cold by the time I took a bite. Would definitely come back and appreciate they do offer some tasty vegan pies.

Pizzanista! is a solid NY style slice option in Southern California. It is not exactly Brooklyn level, but it definitely scratches the itch when you are craving a classic foldable slice. The crust has good structure, the flavor is solid, and it delivers what you expect from a proper slice shop. The vibes inside are great, and they also have some cool pizza inspired merch that adds to the personality of the place. If you are in Pasadena and want a reliable NY style slice, this is a good stop.

Came here on a Saturday -- what a hidden gem! The pizza was hot, crispy, and full of flavor, and the salad was super fresh with creamy avocado and juicy cherry tomatoes. Everything tasted so clean and well-balanced. The price was very reasonable, and the outdoor seating had a chill vibe -- perfect for a weekend lunch. Definitely coming back again!

Recently, my son and I have been making pizzas on Friday nights as a bonding experience while my wife is out with friends. We make some, buy one, and compare. My son usually prefers his homemade, but Petrillo's is the exception! He loved the cheesy cheese pizza and the amazing cheese pull. I ordered half cheese and half their specialty pizza, which includes mozzarella, Romano cheese, house tomato sauce, Italian sausage, pepperoni, salami, mushrooms, onions, and green bell peppers. Their small pizza is 12 inches and has 8 slices, which is much larger than other places. Petrillo's Specialty Pizza is stacked with generous toppings and has a doughy but crispy bottom - the best of both worlds. I enjoyed the Specialty pizza, especially the Italian sausage. While I'm not a mushroom fan, I ate them anyway. I'll likely hold off on mushrooms next time. They provide generous amounts of complimentary crushed red pepper packets, paper plates, and napkins. Parmesan cheese packets cost extra, about $0.50 each, if I remember correctly. The staff were friendly and are local residents, which is always great to see in a mom-and-pop business. You can eat in or order from the take-out counter on the right side. It's best to order ahead to avoid a 20-25 minute wait. My only minor complaint was the pizza was a bit sloppy when I took a picture, but I understand they're busy getting orders out. I will definitely be back to Petrillo's for pizza!

We were greeted by the host and waited about 2-3 minutes to be seated. There were around 4 or 5 tables that were already seated and/or eating. Setting: typical western restaurant with booths and tables. Quite dark inside. We were sat at a booth but the seats had a bunch of residual bread crumbs on them. We had to ask a waiter/busboy to clean off the seats for us. Food: This restaurant is known for their pizza so we ordered their signature pizza to share. We also ordered the fried zucchini appetizer and the spaghetti bolognese which came with a side (Minestrone soup) There was complimentary bread and butter for the table - it was soft and fluffy on the inside and had a nice crust. But it came out cold. Would have been better if it was warmed up. Fried zucchini: well breaded, came with ranch. Portion size was ok, not too big but not too little either. But quite expensive at $11 for an appetizer that did not WOW the table. Minestrone Soup: average, quite salty, given it is early in the evening, the soup should not be this salty whereas the end of the day usually means the soup has been reduced and concentrated by warming/simmering. Spaghetti Bolognese: plenty of meat in the sauce and pretty tasty as well; but the biggest flaw was that the spaghetti was way overcooked. Huge negative for an Italian restaurant - the base/pasta of your dishes should be perfect and this was far from Al dente. Petrillo Signature Pizza: loaded with toppings, they did not cheap out with the toppings and pretty tasty as well; however, another big flaw was that the dough was dry and dense - the dough did not rise. The yeast in the dough was either non-existent or was not given enough time to rise and create the fluffy dough and crust texture of a typical pizza. We basically got dense flatbread. As this was the signature pizza, it was quite disappointing. Service: Average, nothing great. The servers came by a couple times only after the food came out. Could have really stopped by a couple more time to check in. Rating: 2 stars Review summary is based on mainly food quality as the quality of the food, attention to detail, and execution all was very subpar. Given the kitchen was not super busy on a Saturday evening, the poor quality leaves much to desire.

I've had a lot of pizza from New York City, to Italy, to many destinations in between and this crust is up there as some of the best especially to be based in California. That being said, I've had better pizza. The sauce really left something to be desired. It was underwhelming and a bit bland. The wow factor was definitely missing and sauce tends to really make or break a good slice of pizza. Same goes for the cheese used...It just lacked that yummy cheesy goodness you usually anticipate when you bite into a slice and it didn't help that they were a little skimpy with how much cheese they put on their pizza. I think this place would be phenomenal if they took the time to nail the sauce down and really invested in good quality cheese. They're so close just missing the mark on the flavor. The crust absolutely saves them from being bad but it still made it just an "okay" slice of pizza. The staff at the order window were friendly and helpful. The environment could use a little cleaning but overall it seems like it reflected the hipster/ quick eats vibe they're going for and it works for their business. Try this spot out and judge for yourself.

Location is on the second floor, almost hidden but don't worry, to locate it, just walk west, towards lake st once you're upstairs, it's wrapped around the little brunch spot. You can actually miss it if you're not too familiar. Pizza. Astounding. Definitely fresh ingredients. Tastes like Detroit style. Massive amount of cheese but not too much where it's overpowering. The pepperoni were the right amount as they double up the layers, hence the name. The workers were quick to attend to our needs. Service was definitely what you'd expect for a restaurant. However , dining location indoors only is quite small, maybe about 3-4 tables with shut 4 seats to each. We ordered a spaghetti and meatballs, and it was delivered without the meatballs. Huh. Got fixed. Meatballs are delicious. Mamma's is more tangy, which my partner prefers. Anyway......saucy tangent aside...). We also got a mushroom/spinach pizza which was delicious, and an appetizer of toasted cheese ravioli. They gave us some free garlic knots to start. Delish. You order at the counter and they give you a number. The tables were moderately clean. The (very nice) staff member who came to our table when we realized there were no meatballs asked us to dig under the noodles to see if the meatballs were...hiding? We earnestly asked him, "Do you see any meatballs?" because, I dunno, maybe they were really tiny meatballs? We collectively concluded that there were no meatballs, so some delicious meatballs was brought to our table posthaste. Solid service. As you can see, the pizza is huge! Yes, you can buy slices but it makes more financial sense to buy a whole pizza. Next, this is not a "cheesy" pizza. So, if you like all that gooey cheese on your pizza, you're going to be disappointed here. The cheese is so minimal you may ask yourself if there's in fact any cheese on the pizza. The cheesy bread, however, will satisfy your desire for gooey cheese. Highly recommend you pick up a side of the bread. It reheats up nicely too. As pictured, there's inside and outside dining areas. I went when it just opened so there were only a few people dining. Parking here will not be easy. I was told that if you pass the residences, there is ample parking on a vacant lot. This is not the safest neighborhood so if you're a female and you're by yourself, you may not want to park that far and make that walk (especially at night). There is a Dollar Tree across the street with a lot, however, that establishment also tends to draw sketchy characters. So, if easy parking is one of you're requirements, you may want to pass on this place. All in all, this place was more hype and it left me craving that satisfying cheesiness that should be on a pizza. I definitely won't have this place on rotation when I get that pizza craving.
