I'll be honest, my medium-rare steak was overcooked and somehow dry, although still pink in the center. My husband's French toast was made with wheat bread, which was unexpected and definitely not the preference. It made the toast fall flat, though he said it was still tasty and made well. Just wished it wasn't wheat. It's typical diner food. Nothing fancy, but solid. Maybe we didn't love-love our dishes that day, but it wasn't all bad. I enjoyed the seafood gumbo and mashed potatoes, and I loved the gravy. We had a wonderful experience overall. Service was excellent from the moment we walked in. Everyone we spoke to was warm and gracious. Our server was wonderful! We loved their homemade salad dressings, so she made a way for us to buy some to take home. We could easily be regulars here!

The Please U restaurant is an old-school diner that simply focuses on feeding locals hassle free breakfast and lunch. This is not fine dining. The service is not excellent and you seat yourself and even pay at the counter when you leave. But if you want a decent breakfast or lunch and do not want to deal with the ever present overpriced tourist traps this is where you go.

Go to Please-U!!! I was visiting NO and staying in the Lower Garden District and found this no-frills diner that perfectly personifies New Orleans. I ordered a "half" Shrimp Po' Boy and a cup of seafood gumbo. Very generous portions. The Po Boy was packed with fried shrimp, the bread slathered with mayo and had lettuce, tomato and pickles. The shrimp to bread (partially hollowed out) ratio was perfect and the shrimp perfectly fried and not greasy. The gumbo was traditional and flavorful. My waitress was great and the woman owner was very nice. Great spot.

    Chicken & Waffles

Chicken and waffles! Now that I have your attention... If you are as serious about this dish as I am, yet health aware enough not to eat it often, then choose wisely. Hands-down, this is the absolute best, anywhere. And I've had plenty. This little breakfast/lunch hole in the wall Greek restaurant on St. Charles Av. has been our go to for 10 years. When we come, it's gonna be chicken and waffles. If you happen to come back the next day, go with the Greek omelette. All fresh made from scratch by the Greek couple, and owners, for 43 years! The portions and quality are a deal at $14 (so tip well!). And they certainly live up to the name Please-U-Restaurant.

Looking for an Authintic PO Boy! I had the shrimp. That's all I can speak of. Nice 12 inch soft bread with crisp outside. Mayo, Lettuce and Toematoes were fresh. Nice little Lunch and breakfast place. This was down the street from our Hotel. For 12.95 14.30 with Taxes. Took it to go for lunch but ate half of it. Shrimp was fresh. You should try it.

Mediocrity at its finest, and I mean this literally: a fine example of "aight." My socks remain firmly embracing my feet and don't have any lambasting pending for my review. I stopped in seeking breakfast close to my hostel and ordered the venerable chicken and waffles. This is [like] one of those diner-like places that have been around long enough that regulars' orders are known before they sit, or so says the vibe. The chicken was nicely cooked and seasoned, good quality, run-of-the-mill fried chicken, kind of like you can get at IHOP. That's not meant to be an insult; IHOP fried chicken is quite good! The waffle did leave a teeny bit to be desired. It lacked that incredible contrast between the textures of the outside and in.

I was craving a solid NOLA style shrimp po-boy. This place seemed to have great reviews, especially on the shrimp po-boy. So I set off heart set on this amazing thing I was about to get to taste! I ordered, paid extra for the fries, the anticipation was building as the place was cute with its 1950's-esque decor and design. When I finally got my food I was Pavlov's dog..... but then it happened. Hearbreak! This was the saddest driest sandwich EVER!! No Cajun, no spice, no New Orleans soul! Just sad dried Sammy with some shrimp in it! I legit had to use the ranch from my fries to breathe flavor into it! Whelp! Thanks you guys I left NOLA with a list for a seriously good po-boy!! 100% not recommend

We came on a Sunday morning and were seated right away, plus we lucked out with street parking right out front, which felt like a small miracle! It's definitely a cozy, tight space, but the staff navigates it with impressive ease. Our server, Cristel was incredibly sweet and personable, and the whole team moved with such efficiency that it added to the homey vibe. I ordered the Camp Street Original omelette, and it was delicious. The potatoes threw me off though as they called it "hashbrowns" lol. The bartender also made a fantastic café au lait. It was rich, smooth, and exactly what I wanted. My only regret is not getting to try their famous biscuit, but that just means I have a reason to come back! A classic New Orleans spot that feels loved, lived-in, and definitely worth the visit!

You have to wait in line to order/pay so depending on how difficult the group(s)/people(s) orders are ahead of you, will dictate how fast this process will go. The place is much bigger than I initially expected. There are 2 floors with seating. It would be hard to accommodate a large party but there's plenty of seating. I live the old 80's/90's theme and decor. Such a great throwback. We ordered 2 drip coffees (you get them in a to-go cups but you can get free refills), and the Grand Slam McMuffin. Both were great. Wish the sandwiches were bigger for the price you pay. $11.50 for a breakfast sandwich is pretty steep, but it's the price you pay considering everything is homemade. I would also like to point out that there is a discrepancy on the price of adding an egg. The menu says it's $2 more but we were charged $2.50. They should really update their menu or be upfront about it. Overall a great place to have a great breakfast. * Please note that you're not allowed to have someone save a table while another waits in line to order. You must order first before being allowed to take a table.

It's always nice to find a place that offers a little something different instead of the usual tourist fare. I went with the Shrimp Carbonara, and the portion size was impressive. The dish was loaded with large, juicy shrimp and packed with flavor. It was one of those meals that looks great when it arrives and somehow tastes even better once you dig in. The service was quick, friendly, and kept everything moving smoothly, which was appreciated after a day of exploring. My only minor critique--and this is purely personal preference--would be that I would have preferred the shrimp tails removed. It certainly didn't take away from the meal, though. In fact, it led to one of the funniest moments of the trip when I squeezed a tail to remove it and accidentally launched it across the table toward one of my buddies. Thankfully, my aim was terrible, but the table got a good laugh out of it. Great food, generous portions, fast service, and a fun atmosphere. If you're looking for a solid meal while in New Orleans, Red Dog Diner is definitely worth a visit.
