First let me say that I have been here a few times and the 22nd/kolb location many more! I love the food, it is spicy but such a great place. The service at 22nd is out of this world! Love them! They remember regulars! This location the service was slow and the kitchen was playing heavy metal music. I don't mind music but why? It was awful! For this reason and the fact that we went around 3pm and the place was empty and we had to wait a long time for food, we will not go back to this location. Never Again. For a family birthday get together, we called the day before about a reservation. They said that they do not do reservations. They said that they would take us when we got there. The first of our group of 10 was there 15 minutes early and were put on the wait list. The last arrived right on time. Over an hour after we wanted our reservation for we finally got seated. As we were waiting, a number of other groups of 4 or 5 or so arrived. They were somehow, miraculously seated almost immediately. I wonder why us gringos had to sit and wait for over an hour. Oh, the food was OK, nothing to write home about. The coffee was terrible. The drinks were also OK. Once we FINALLY got seated, the service was adequate. YUM and YUM. Slightly less great than Cafe Poca Cosa, but a fine mexican meal. There was loads of parking, we went on a Saturday around 11am. We each had a prickly pear margarita,and that might be my only complaint - it was $8 and large but weak, and not the deep purple color of prickly pear (really the best part). But the gal who made it was nice and the people at the bar were friendly. The chips and salsa were excellent- the thin crispy chips (still warm) and a perfectly balanced red salsa with just the right kick of heat. There was a wait even though the back dining room was 1/2 empty- I think they are listening to their Yelp reviews that said service was lacking - so they are only seating what they can handle serving well. We were seated in the bar area after about a 10 minute wait - talked to the waiter about what to order - he recommended the sour cream chili sauce- and the enchiladas with eggs caught my eye, so I got that with the pork, beans, rice & salad. My man (recently my fiancé, which is crazy!) loves a chile relleno and the chile rellleno breakfast burrito looks great in the photos. Looking back I wish we had ordered him just the chile rellenos straight up. He got it "christmas Style" - meaning red sauce on one side, green on the other. He enjoyed it, but my meal was better. ...and like Elaine Benice on Seinfeld - I don't want to "yada yada over the best part" so I must mention the sopapillas with sugar and honey...I was on the fence since I knew we had ordered too much food already, but the plates were only about $9/piece so I figured I could treat myself to $3 worth of deep fried heaven. I probably would have been happy with them alone, wooo-whee...they sure were tasty! . Haven't been here since they moved into this location, but always enjoyed their food. Friday night was no exception. Great service, great food, and the only negative part was the hostess who obviously was having a bad night. She doesn't know how to greet customers, and even when I asked her if anything was wrong, she just gave me a dirty look. We had several servers say hello and welcome. Just not the hostess. Really good food! The host at the front was a young guy and he was so nice to my boyfriend and I. Our waitress was really nice and talked to me about vegetarian items and what the ingredients were and if something was vegan or not. I can't believe how informative she was ! If I could give 10 stars just for waitress and our host alone I would.. If you go around this time you HAVE to sit outside. Gets a little busy so might be a wait for the outside. Food was really good the flavor is so amazing because of the famous hatch. Definitely new fav Mexican spot in Tucson! The only thing I can think of to recommend is maybe add a tamale that doesn't have meat, a lot of other restaurants are starting to incorporate more vegetarian options. I haven't had a bad experience yet with Poco & Moms. My office usually orders breakfast burritos each Thursday which are always spot on, but I decided to order myself lunch and got a chimichanga. Mind you, I've called anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half before their closing time which is 8:00 pm.Interesting enough, if you call back and get someone else to answer the phone, they cheerfully take your order and tell you it will be ready in 15-30 minutes. Poco and Mom's easily ranks in my top 3 Mexican restaurants in town. I always recommend this restaurant to friends, family and anyone visiting from out of town! As it stands now, I have been here over a dozen times. Thus far I have yet to get a bad meal. Everything has been consistent and every time I have asked to either have something added to my dish or omitted they are on the ball. The service is outstanding too. I can't think of hardly anywhere that I would say that about. The servers are very friendly and have never messed up my order or anyone who I went with. I also have never found myself wondering, "what happened to our server?" The food here is awesome as well. I mostly go for breakfast and have tried several of the different breakfast entrees and liked all of them. It's always a tough choice for me now. I been here for dinner on occasion as well. New Mexico style food, in a bright colored cantina. While it looks like any other big old-school Mexican family restaurant, they offer quite a few dishes with sauces made out of the signature hatch chiles. I love hatch chiles, and getting my food in Christmas style. They have a combination plate with a sample of everything so I decided to try it - it came with a green chicken enchilada, a chile relleno, and a red shredded beef taco, along with rice and beans. I found their green sauce very light and underwhelming - others at the table agreed - and the red sauce was far superior. The chicken was dry and stringy, but the beef was decent. My favourite out of the bunch was definitely the beef taco, but in general it was mostly a "meh". While the food was three stars, service was definitely suffering. The server was nice but he was painfully absent. Every single thing took forever, and now I know why there was a long line out front despite the large restaurant interior - the waiters kept turnover rate low due to their inefficiency! I would have given this place a lower rating, but considering the difficulty we had finding decent food at this part of town, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Mexican food has to be one of our favorites and we live near the restaurant on Tanque Verde. We were hoping when we moved that we could find a Mexican food near us. We did and it's Poco and Mom"s. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The courtyard is very nice with a large fountain, misters, and umbrellas. Our favorite spot. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served, there is a happy hour also. So decided to give Poco & Mom's a try. Placed order, went and picked up. Got home and what a disappointment. No tortillas as described on menu. Stew it's self was very bland, more of a soup then a stew. No flavor large chunks of partially cooked potatoes onions and tomatoes. So as a warning. Check your takeout order before you pay and leave. Wish I would have. I know that restaurants are struggling as with a lot of businesses now. But quality should not be lost to make a buck. read more

Can't have the red or green chili sauce. Which is literally the whole point in coming here. Can't have the rice. Can't have the beans. Even the fresh diced green chili enchiladas aren't vegetarian. It's 2019, an era in which many people are not eating or are drastically reducing their meat consumption and you have a huge menu with like only a cheese quesadilla I can eat? And I can't even get the rice and beans with that. I'm so disappointed because New Mexican food is my favorite and now I can never come here again. Wake up, restaurant owners. It's 2019 and it's not that hard to make vegetarian green chili sauce or vegetarian refried beans. You seriously can't have some of that in the freezer for a vegetarian? We used to come here a lot. Now we will never come here again unless you update your menu and offer a menu wherein vegetarians can actually eat. I'd give you 0/5 stars if I could. Met my Aunt for lunch here as we were passing through. We were happy to find that they were open for sit down dining. The food was great! Everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the Green Chili Pork Stew and it was amazing. Hotter than I usually find it but so very worth it. When I ordered it, the server told me that it is spicy and I was grateful full for the heads up. We will definitely go there next time we're in Tucson. read more

I would give more than 5 stars if I could. One of the first spots we ate at when we moved and quickly became a staple in our food rotation. I love the cheese crisp with the machata on top, and the sour cream green chili enchiladas are the best. I know there are alot of local spots to get salsa, but there is something about theirs that is #1 for me. The staff make you feel like you are coming home to eat. I have brought out of town visitors and they also loved this spot, if you haven't tried it at least once then you are really missing out on a great meal. read more
