It's a cute, cozy spot with a decent amount of seating, WiFi, lots of plants, and a bookshelf stocked with various reads. The space has a relaxed, welcoming feel, and there were plenty of people inside having casual morning coffee chats. They offer a variety of beverages along with some breakfast items and sweet treats. I ordered a decaf almond milk mocha latte, which was very good and not too sweet. It was a bit pricey for the size (just under $8 with tip), though the price is standard for the area. Overall, it's a nice neighborhood spot if you are nearby and want to take a break, get some work done, or meet up with someone for coffee. I would definitely recommend it. read more

This is a coffee shop where alot of people come to work it seems. When I stepped foot inside all the tables were used with everyone on their laptop. Supposedly, I read there may be a time limit on how long you can sit there for. But I saw no signage about that. There is no restroom here or not one that I saw. There was only one person working and it seemed a bit slow. I got the iced cardamom and honey latte. It was not that great. The cardamom would not mix well with the latte so there were like cardamom pieces in my drink and when I drank here it was a weird texture. This café has a lovely seating area filled with greenery and plenty of natural light, making it a cozy spot to relax with a drink or snack. The atmosphere is definitely a highlight. A couple of things to note, there's no restroom available, and seating is limited to two hours per purchase. I ordered a tea and a pierogi. The pierogi was different from the usual style I'm used to, it was more bread-like, filled with eggs and scallions, and heated in the microwave. It came out a little dry, though hot sauce helped. Solid spot to do some work, but noting that there aren't any outlets for charging and no bathroom if you plan to be there longer. The menu is well-priced, but there isn't really anything special on it either. Service was merely okay and the barista seemed annoyed and wasn't terribly friendly when ordering. You can sit down with work for two hours before you have to order something else, which seems totally fair. There's a selection of drinks and baked goods. I ordered a peppermint tea and my friend got a chai latte, neither of which was that good. The tea lid was also leaking and made a bit of a mess. I needed to refuel with some coffee after some serious thrift shopping. I was beginning to get tired from the hunt when I realized some coffee would help re-energize me. I headed to Yelp to find a cute coffee shop nearby and Poetica popped up. It looked absolutely adorable and wasn't too far from my next thrift stop. Upon entering, I was in love with all the natural lighting and plants. It's a tiny and aesthetically pleasing spot. I was a bit hungry, but they seemed to only offer pastries and sweeter snacks. There were a lot of coffee options on the menu. When I asked the barista what the poetica drink was she told me it was a brown sugar latte with vanilla and I got so excited. She noted it was sweet how excited I got for the drink. I ordered it iced with oat milk. It was so delicious and hit the spot. Do note that this location doesn't have a bathroom, but the library nearby has a public restroom. There were some people near me working on their laptops so it seems like this is a good spot to get some work done. I highly recommend stopping here for a quick coffee drink. read more

Affordable coffee and a lovely seating area! It can get crowded, but I spent roughly 2 hours and there were moments when the cafe would suddenly become vacant, providing ample space for newcomers. Furthermore, buying something allows you to utilize your laptop for 2 hours, after which you need to make another purchase. If you don't want to read my story below - here's the summary: Super good coffee! So here I was, casually strolling on a cold December afternoon through the streets of East Village. I needed a warm cup of the good stuff. We know New York is cold in December and I'm the type of person who is cold in July - it's a curse. Anyway, I was heading to another popular brown bean flavored water spot when I saw this beautiful sign. I was cold and didn't want to walk another couple blocks. So my cousins and I went inside to try it out. The inside is small and cute. They have a 2 hour limit on the seating but it definitely looks like a place I would love to come work for a bit or have a little coffee meet up with a friend (if I had any). There were several other people in there and that's always a good sign. There was only one employee working, but he was super efficient so there wasn't much of a wait at all. I ordered my usual vanilla latte and step aside so my cousins can order. One of my cousins orders her usual matcha latte something - (she's a coffee snob who has worked at several other brown bean water shops) and my other cousin goes rogue and orders their signature "poetica latte". I turned to him in shock and asked, " do you even know what is in there?" and he says something so profound: " no. But it's their signature coffee, named after their business, so it had to be good, right?". The employee chuckled and told us that the latte was made with brown sugar or something like that. It did sound good. We waited less than a couple minutes for all three of our drinks. We originally all wanted some drinks just to warm us up but what we got was magic. All our drinks were so good! Super creamy and rich. As we walked away, with our lattes in hand, we all kept talking about how delicious they were. My cousin was done with his before we finished walking to our next destination (the christmas market) like 3-4 blocks away. Definitely recommend this place. Both for their coffee and ambiance. My particular visit this day was just OK. I ordered a 12oz hot Matcha Latte ($5.50) and it was lukewarm. It seemed that the milk wasn't heated enough, and so my drink became cold really quick. My drink also didn't have enough matcha powder, so it tasted primarily like milk. While I didn't have a stellar visit, I'm open to giving Poetica another shot, since the reviews look great, and the cafe is bright and cozy. read more

I met a friend here to get some work done on a Friday around 2 PM, and it was just what we needed. Even though it was a perfect 75 degrees outside, there weren't any tables out there, so we hunkered down inside--which, honestly, was perfect because it was super quiet. Ideal for working without distractions. The WiFi worked well, and there's a 2-hour time limit per purchase, which seems totally reasonable. Drinks and treats were pretty standard, but they do have macaroons if you're feeling fancy. The vibe inside is cute, very SoHo chic. I'd definitely come back for a productive work session! read more

I was in town for work and had a time block for myself to wrap up loose ends on a project, so I popped in here for some focus time and had a delightful experience. I snagged a table near the entrance, popped in my AirPods, and enjoyed my latte while soaking in the NY scenery. I docked one star just because they didn't have glassware for those who were dining in. I understand this might be driven by less workforce/trash/dishes but if I'm sitting for 1+ hours and ordering multiple beverages while teleworking, a proper glass would have made it a tad more enjoyable versus drinking out of a paper cup.
