Came for their opening event. Tried the quinoa rice with spicy salmon, tuna and albacore. Loved the variety of toppings, all the usual stuff plus jalapeño and pineapple. Loved the option for quinoa or salad instead of rice. I also liked that they had both regular and spicy tuna and salmon, so if you like spicy, you can get your poke really, really spicy! Came here with my roommates for their soft opening. For free poke, I can't really complain about their small portion size. Perhaps the small portion size was because it was complimentary. Aside from that, the quality of the poke was pretty good. Their sauces were very flavorful. The names of the sauces are pretty straight forward. They should specify the difference between Loco I, Loco II, and Loca (which are the different strengths of their spicy sauces). Saves the trouble of guests constantly asking what they are. I had the Loca, and it was the perfect kick of spicy for me. My only main concern however, is the lack of a glass screen that separates the guests from the food. I was hesitant on picking items closer to us because I was afraid people's spit may have dropped into there. The staff was really helpful and friendly. I came toward the end of the second day's soft opening, practically the 2nd to last group of the line, and I was surprised about how much energy they still carried up until that point. Would I come back again? To me, it didn't really stand out amongst all the numerous poke places in OC. But if I was in the area and craving some poke, I would come on back over. read more

I was in the mood for poke and found this new place , and I am so glad i came. I had to take it to go, but the restaurant is clean and cute the people working here were friendly I got the regular size with 4 scoops which was very good portion and the fish were fresh , left me very satisfying . FRESH. Just the way I like it. There are a lot of "Poke" joints popping up all over the place. Since they are new around my house, I decided to give them a try. I really don't care about the parking, how the interior is set up, the location, etc when it comes down to reviewing a restaurant. If the food is good and they can live up to it, I will be your loyal customer. BIG DIFFERENCE between them and the other places: they have the freshest fish. PERIOD. You get to choose and customize your order and how it comes out totally depends on your sense of "food". If you combine the right fish with the wrong sauce, it could ruin your whole order, vice versa. So you really have to try different combination in order to the find the perfect Poke bowl. I like brown rice and salmon. But salmon goes well with white rice so I usually get salmon, white rice, and their spicy sauce. Been a customer for many years and after not being back in for a year, turns out the owner has changed and customer service has gone downhill. I had a stamp card that I thought would still be honored but turns out they switched to a new system and would not honor my old card (which had no expiration date) claiming that stamps were stolen. While this may be the case, manager refused to honor my stamp card or help me out at all. She said I had to start over again. Being a loyal customer, this experience has turned my experience and my first impression of this new ownership very sour. It has turned someone who used to be an advocate of this restaurant who used bring other paying customers to the establishment, to now someone who will go out of their way to write this review to discourage others. Ownership clearly doesn't know what customer service is and will not last long with that attitude. I'm sure they knew the reputation this restaurant has with their high yelp reviews. What is sad is that she refused to acknowledge my point. There are no doubt hundreds of people with these old stamp cards in their wallets right now who will now be disappointed that they will not get the same excellent experience that was offered before. I was ready to start coming back here more but now I won't ever come back and neither will I recommend it to anyone. There are more than 5-6 local poke competitors in the Brea /Yl area and in order to distinguish yourself, customer service and loyal customers are key. First impressions matter. We came with our young boys and they loved eating the poke burrito! The portions aren't as big as other places but it's super tasty and very filling! I tried very hard to keep a neutral stance on this place since it got a perfect five-star rating. I took an order to go of a salad + brown rice bowl and I wasn't too sure how the "scoops" worked. I'm still not sure, but I think the scoops only apply to your protein? I got a mix of regular salmon, spicy salmon, and shrimp and it was so fresh and delicious that it was almost melting in my mouth. my mouth is watering thinking about it. and their spiciest sauce was so spicy (I'm a spicy food pleb, ok!!) that my poops came out spicy too!! but it was worth it. I've tried many poki places all over NorCal and still trying to find my favorite one down here in SoCal. I enjoyed the poki, it was fresh and the sauces they have here pair well. There's a lot of toppings to choose from as well. One thing that throws me off is how their cucumber is pickeled (just a personal preference since I love cucumbers in my poki) so it makes it a little less enjoyable. The main thing I loved was the portions, the regular comes with 3 scoops and rice in a rectangular box. I was actually filled up and usually I don't get full. So def a thumbs up there. I tried this place after seeing so many good Yelp reviews, but Poke Ave did not meet my expectations. I ordered a regular poke bowl, and nothing tasted new to me. I've tried several other poke places in the area (including Poke Monster in Brea), and this place is just like any other. Serving size is pretty big, but proportions between the sides, fish, and the base are not the best. I got so little rice to the point that at the end I was basically eating fish and the sides. Also, they give you such little sauce that my whole bowl tasted bland, or the Ponzu sauce that I got is just bland in the first place. But they offer many sides that you can't find in regular poke places such as Jalapeños, pineapples, and edamame. Good variety Customer service was whatever maybe because I came during the rush hour. But I heard they give you free green tea ice cream if you choose to dine in, but no free ice cream for those that are Togo-ing. read more

We just tried this spot on a random craving for poke. It was delicious! All the ingredients were fresh. The restaurant is very clean and the service was friendly. My only critique is that I wish the jalapeños were fresh but the wasabi is amazing so I don't even need the jalapeños. Also, I would opt for 5 scoops of fish at the price of $11.99 since the scoops are a bit small but the price is definitely fair for 3 or 5 scoops! Oh and I like that they have crab meat as an ingredient because I find that not all poke places do and it's delicious! 3 scoops = $8.99 Lots of delicious ingredients! We will come again! read more

There is nothing special about Poke Ave. It was actually pretty disappointing after seeing how high its ratings are. Poke Ave offers less ingredients and toppings compared to other poke spots I've been to and they are a bit stingy with their ingredients. The only fish that looked tasty was the tuna. I got tuna,and salmon with brown rice. They also had scallops, cooked shrimp, albacore and three types of seasoned tuna, one of them being spicy tuna. I never get the seasoned tuna because I've worked at sushi places and they usually use the tuna that's not as fresh to mask the undesirable flavor of fish that's been sitting around for a while. The only seasoning they offer for the fish is ponzu or sesame oil. Poke is a healthier compared to many other food options but is lacking in comparison to other poke spots. Poke Ave is just like any other poke place except they have less options, are a bit sheisty with their portions, won't let you use their restroom, and employees act like they don't care about their job. The negatives aren't too annoying but there's definitely nothing too great about this place. read more
