I know these poke places are becoming very popular and now I see why! The poke bowl I had was so good!! You get two choices here-ahi tuna or salmon and you get o choose the sauce. I chose spicy, or hot lava, which wasn't very spicy for me. But I like my food spicy. Then you get to choose white rice, brown rice, or salad, which I chose, since I try to avoid carbs as much as possible. Don't get me wrong- I love carbs; they just don't love me. So I have to limit them. :) I thought I was going to miss all of the fluffy, comforting rice, but I didn't. The cucumber salad had a great dressing, and with all of the other sides, like the seaweed and the imitation crabmeat salad, and of course, the ahi tuna, I was very satisfied. The portions were plentiful and there were so many different wonderful flavors-I was very happy. It's definitely a nice addition to our neighborhood. It's the latest, but not the greatest doing fresh fish. It's Hawaiian's raw version of Scrod. Poke is inherently fresh, it's not 100% tied to any one variety, but most notably big eye and ahi with Salmon being more recently made attractive. It's fresh cut scraps from local catches meant for the local fishermen and their families. It was never meant to or compete with the fatty belly sold to sushi restaurants or the true sashimi, but more as a snack. The rice sort of makes it a meal in the same way that a combo platter's rice makes BBQ a meal. They should call this place Poke Bowl, no Poke District because all their dishes are bowls. The cubed chunks cut from a likely frozen saku block. I would think procuring huge amounts of fresh tuna (never frozen) is near impossible, even locally. And the saku block is perfect for poke. I know a few restaurants that do this instead of using the filet, belly or loins. The ahi has ok color, it's firm, but not buttery. The salmon is a little thinner and softer in flavor and texture. I could not put my tongue on the origin (likely not NZ or Scottish variety). The sauces to me are pretty basic as well as being bland. I was really hoping for bright and contrasting. They skimped on the sesame seed oil, didn't have yuzu or any citrus. The avo aioli was good by itself, but mixed with the fish, rice, cucumber or salad felt like it was something that dropped from a burger. The Lava was your basic scriracha-esque aioli except this one is just heat, no depth or flavor. The sweet soy is good, but no attempt to make it their own. White rice was cooked well, brown rice was cooked well. I like the furikaki dusting and the sesame seed were nice, but prefer the oil in the fish (I actually find it to be a base flavor I prefer in all my poke). Kanikama. Meh. Cucumber salad. Meh. No ogo, limu, no kukui nuts. That pretty much makes it not Hawaiian at all and to me barely poke. No potato salad. The seaweed salad was good, small, but not expensive. I always mix it in, it makes it really just like they actually make it in Hawaii even without all the proper accoutrements. I bought my friends kid a happa bowl since he is pretty new to fish that's not in stick form). He liked it and dug the avocado. He felt it was very light and refreshing compared to his usual burgers, pizza that his mom feeds him. Tip: Check in on yelp and get 10% off. Service is friendly. It can be slow considering the menu is small and simple. Price is ok even without the check in due to the price of fresh fish, but I was hoping for a wow factor, authenticity or something to keep my attention. It's a great start and probably just the beginning in OC's poke trend or plan to take down stalwart North Shore. Ambiance is relaxed as is the décor, the owner is nice and explained he's bringing on some other proteins, but could not confirm what kinds. Though I may write about my disappointment with their lack of authenticity I think it's only fair to label it California Poke. There is room for improvement in variety, execution, but for those who have never had authentic poke it's probably to them top of the mountain. When I went in this place it did not feel like your typical Orange County poke place. It felt like I was in Maui! The place was simple just like in Hawaii! The rice was really good with all those green stuff I don't know the name of it but it was really good. Maybe the best rice in all the poke places in OC. I ordered the combination tuna and salmon with brown rice and the original sauce. It was really good! i would have given 5 stars but the original sauce I think was nit that great. It was good but not great. Maybe I will try the other sauce. I will be back for sure! One more thing in here you do not have to choose other ingredients you automatically get the crab and the green thing with the bowl just like in Hawaii. They even sell just the poke with the same containers as the one they serve in Maui. Why can't you be closerrrrrrr? I love poke and after seeing Jackie D. and her husband post pics on their Instagram randomly one day, I decided that was what I was having for dinner. They have a pretty simple, yet, amazing menu, to choose from. I always get the mix of ahi tuna and salmon. You get your choice of brown rice, white rice, or cucumber salad. I go for the cucumber salad. It also comes with a scoop of seaweed salad and crab mix. Then they have the flavors to go with the poke - I'm a fan of the Godzilla one or the Hot Lava one. The portions are pretty generous. I've never had to wait long honestly, so I've gotten pretty lucky. Service is really good. They're super nice there. At first, I was only gonna give this joint four stars but while I was driving back home I realized that this place actually deserves five. Because damn. I was FULL! And boy was this place chill! I'm a monster when it comes to food so it was weird to get stuffed from what seemed like only a decent amount of food. My SO and I ordered the salmon with brown rice and Godzilla flavoring (avocado aioli) and it came with seaweed salad and kanikama (imitation crab). Honestly, I'm salivating just writing this because EVERY single thing on that plate was BOMB.COM! When I left this place I told my SO that I was only 90% full but no... I was wrong. Ten minutes later, once it all settled in, I was at 100%. Thank goodness I didn't try to order anything else otherwise I'd be overstuffed. As for the place itself, it definitely gave off the island feel. Even though it was quite busy (probably because it's fairly new and it's awesome), when we sat down I was really feeling their island music and the simple interior design. You can tell that they're gonna need to hire more staff members if they keep up the large inflow of customers because it seemed like all the employees had to be in the kitchen. That was the only downside of our visit -- the tables were a little dirty -- but every other good thing about this place made me forget about it. This place is OK. I went out of my way to try it and it was decent. Fish was fresh and the poke plate portion was generous. Competitively priced with other places (around $10 plate). The one thing I didn't like was that the rice was steaming hot. Usually I like that but it's too hot for a poke bowl. Other places I've been, the rice is room temperature and that works a little better for me. The inside is a little drab but I like the music. The guys at the counter were nice enough. There's a discount for checking in. The place wasn't easy to find and is in an old strip mall. Limited parking. I'd recommend Pokinometry in Anaheim. This is a very small and hidden gem and I was surprised by how fresh their fish was. Their menu is very simple and they don't seem to offer all the extra add on's like fried onions, toasted garlic ect. but it doesnt seem to be needed with the items that they're providing. You can order the Ahi Tuna Poke, Salmon Poke, or a mixture of both which is the Half and Half. You can do brown rice, rice or cucumber salad; I choose to do a half of brown rice and salad and then my favorite sauces here that gets mixed in with the poke is the Godzilla or the Wasabi aoili. You might think the prices here are somewhat higher than other poke places that you probably been to, but you'll understand once you actually eat the fish. Came here last week before my long weekend in San Luis Obispo. I ordered half a pound of the Salmon poke with "hot-lava" sauce and half a pound of the Tuna poke with their signature "Jay-Jo-Lee" sauce. I loved it! I opted for all fish because I wasn't interested in the imitation krab mix and seaweed side. I would say, from the two options the salmon was better for me. I thought the hot-lava sauce was not that spicy, but had a subtle kick.It may have been better if we could mix more than one sauce (i.e. the original sweet soy sauce WITH hot-lava... but just a suggestion). All-in-all not a bad poke bowl spot and I would definitely recommend this to my friends. The restaurant is pretty spacious, clean and the staff is incredibly friendly. The Poke craze is everywhere and it's now pretty easy to find poke around these parts. I almost always go for the spiciest poke on any poke menu, particularly because it's usually the safest flavor-wise, but not always bathroomwise. I did try a couple other options here and the flavors were imo bland (usually the case at any poke spot) and did not compare to the spicy poke. If you want to be safe, go with that, otherwise, prepare to add soysauce and sriracha to whatever you order :) What's nice about Poke District compared to other spots is their presentation and garnish. Wasn't expecting it but made it much more satisfying. The food was really fresh and very flavorful, I got the Poke mix of tuna and salmon with Avocado Aoli and wasn't disappointed, the crab and seaweed salad was delicious and was a perfect accompaniment to the fresh fish and rice. The sauce was rather sweet and I thought I detected mango but they said no, so what do I know right? Anyhoo, easy parking, easy checki-in, fast and friendly service and good food. The best type of rice bowl is a poke rice bowl. Throw in some salmon? Heaven! I checked this place out today because I was craving some fish and rice. The ordering process was really easy. You choose tuna or salmon, or you can do half/half, pick salad or rice, white or brown, and a sauce. If you are unsure of what sauce to get, ask for a sample. All bowls also come with an imitation crab salad and a seaweed salad. If you want extra add-ins, you could do that, too. I got half tuna and half salmon, brown rice, and a wasabi sauce. It was all so good! The fish was fresh and in bite-size pieces. There was a good amount of it, too. The wasabi sauce was also really good, adding a bit of a sting. The brown rice had some nori on it, so it was a little salty with a bite to it. I loved it. The imitation crab salad was also fresh and flavorful. Service was friendly and helpful. Decor could use some help though. It looked kind of barren and cold. Also, everything was served in styrofoam boxes, whether it was for there or to-go. I go to school up the hill at Santiago Canyon College and I often find myself craving poke, but not being able to satisfy that craving since there aren't any places specializing in poke close by! So of course, I was super happy when this place opened up. The cashier was kind and helpful in explaining the menu and how to order. I ended up getting a mix of ahi tuna and salmon on white rice with the "Hot Lava" flavor. Each bowl comes with imitation crab salad ("kanikama"), seaweed salad ("ogo"), and rice with furikake (a seasoning made up of seaweed, sugar, dried/ground fish, salt, and sesame seeds.) It was a little under $9 for all of that with the 10% off coupon provided when you check-in on Yelp. I went around 4pm--well past lunch time--so it wasn't busy at all. Got my food in about 15 minutes. I love how the seaweed and crab salads are included in the bowls at no extra cost! There is a North Shore Poke Co. in Cerritos, where I live, and they only include rice and poke in their bowls. I would have to pay $3.50 extra for a side of seaweed salad...clearly overpriced! The fish was very fresh and the "Hot Lava" flavor I got was good, but lacking in amount. Portions could be a little bigger for the price! The atmosphere could use some work though. I understand the business is fairly new, but they need some decor or something to look at while I eat! I have been coming to Poke District since they opened. Usually, I am there once a week. I have tried Pokinometry and Kawamata, both places do not come close to Poke District, it is a bit out of the way for me but it is worth the trip. My choice is carb free, cucumber salad, crab, seaweed, ahi wasabilicious with avocado slices. I top it off with some hot sauce - it is simply delicious bite after bite. For what it is, this place is the bomb. Nothing special on the inside, island style atmosphere. It's got bomb ahi bowls with BIG chunks of seriously fresh tender ahi. The fish is always fresh, sauces are delish but not overpowering and the portions are HUGE. I really liked the poke bowls here. They're not like Pokinometry with over your rice/salad, but they are next to each other with some seaweed in-between so the fish doesn't get warm. That's always something I appreciate. I like my food separate, but that's just me. Fish-wise they only have tuna or salmon. Very simple. I love salmon anyways. The different sauces come with different masago flavors (green, black etc) so that was nice. I really enjoy the wasabi aioli flavor. My sibling got the avocado aioli but it was hard to finish since the taste became more one note. Maybe she should have put hot sauce! Sadly, this spot has very limited seating and quite a few people who were finished were lingering/chatting. I get it, but when you see a few groups just waiting for a table please be considerate and move! You can talk outside, in your car, or go get coffee/boba down the street. Poke places appear to be the new "thing" because I am starting to see one pop up on every corner. I don't mind at all though and hope they stick around because I personally love poke! It reminds me of happy island vacation in Hawaii times. I was going to Turner's and noticed this place next door. At 2pm on a Friday, there was a decent amount of people inside, and with a good 400+ reviews on Yelp, I figured it would be reliable. I try to do a legit scan of Yelp reviews prior to going to a poke restaurant because poke is consumed raw and I'm guessing comes with a high risk of food poisoning. The poke here was fresh but I didn't like how the ingredients came separate because it was hard to eat everything together. Also, the choices are more limited as you can only choose between tuna and salmon, so no scallops or octopus which is usually my go-to. I got tuna with the spicy sauce, cucumber salad and a $1 additional for avocado. It came with one scoop of seaweed salad as well as one scoop of imitation crab. The taste of the crab and the taste of the sweet seaweed salad didn't blend well together but they were right next to each other. Also, the poke was a little dry even with the spicy sauce but I tried my best to blend the ingredients within the box. Hubby got the classic soy sauce and the poke for me was too salty. The menu at the Poke District is simple: base (brown or white rice / cucumber salad or both), fish (salmon / tuna or both), and sauce. Although they don't offer as many different options as other poke restaurants, this does not detract from the experience because what they serve is very high quality and delicious. There is only one portion size for the bowls, and it is sufficient to be satisfying. I like how the food is served in a rectangular tray rather than a bowl, so that you don't have to dig around to get to the rice. I would say that the quality of the fish is a step above any other poke restaurant I've been to (and I've tried several). The fish is very fresh, and they are cut into large sized chunks, not itty bitty pieces. The rice tastes better than most other places because they sprinkle seaweed and sesame seeds over it, and that extra touch of salty seaweed flavor really makes a difference. And the rice is served hot. My preferred sauce is the Wasabilicious, which is a wasabi aioli that includes little green fish eggs in the sauce. They get the right balance of a wasabi kick without it being overpowering. The bowls also come with a side of seaweed salad and imitation crab. The service is very fast. Usually, by the time I finish paying, they hand me my food right then or soon after. The verdict: As far as the food is concerned, this is the best poke I've eaten. I think I've been on a poke streak, trying poke bowls everywhere. So for awhile I wanted to try Poke District because everyone kept talking about it to me.. but since it was far from me, the opportunity never came until I finally got my hair done two shops down at Coco2 Hair Salon. Anyway, lets start with pricing. $9.95 for a bowl, no option to go larger or lesser, but pretty standard and I would say for the amount, pretty filling. You can choose tuna or salmon, or both. White/brown or cucumber - I went with white. Sauces - a few good variety to choose one, but I went with the lava one. When you name something lava, it should be spicy af. Anyway, I felt like the sauce lacked flavor still.. but luckily I had the avocado aioli on the side, which tasted pretty awesome. You get crab and seaweed as sides which is comparable to other poke bowls. Lastly, the cut pieces of fish were as fresh as they can be. No funky feelings afterwards. Honorable mention as well, as I noticed, they don't have a bowl bowl container, but a rectangular container to hold their food. White rice, sides in the middle and fish on the right. This kind of placement keeps the fish from getting warm and nasty if you decide to get it to-go. So A++ I definitely will come back, but I won't go out of my way for it, since I have options that are closer in my area that is just as comparable. read more

My boyfriend and I just ate here because it was the closest poke place that was open on the weekend, we were actually excited. When you first walk in, there's a strange odor, bathroom mixed with something else. And behind the cashier, we saw non-refrigerated open tub of raw fish, not ready to be tossed in poke sauce either, just hanging out. This place is not like Subway style. The menu is fairly simple. You pick your carbs, fish, and sauce. For about $11, they give you a generous portion. They serve it to you in like a plate style, rather than poke bowl style where everything is mixed together. I normally am not a fan of ahi tuna but decided to get that w/ brown rice and spicy sauce. The rice was still piping hot and this time I got the Lava sauce on the side as to not overpower the fish. Very good original sauce, on the sweeter side but not overly sweet.
