I came to Rainbow Poke with my son because he wanted to try it, and we both love a good poke spot. It's located in the Lowe's shopping center off Mills and has a clean, simple setup. Overall, it's a solid place, but nothing that really stood out to me. The staff was friendly, which I always appreciate, and the place itself had a calm, quiet vibe. The food was good and had nice flavor, but it didn't feel particularly memorable compared to other poke places I've been to. One thing that did stand out (not in a great way) was the pricing. For a large bowl, you only get three scoops of protein for around $18, which felt a bit high for what you get. The portion sizes overall seemed pretty average. They were also out of quite a few items when we went, and the menu in general felt a little limited. Same with the drink options, very minimal, so don't expect much variety there. All in all, it's not a bad spot. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again, but I also wouldn't object if someone else wanted to go. Decided to try this place after passing by it often. Let's see: Sushi rice had no flavor and was mushy. Needs Vinegar and Sugar, and maybe less water when cooking. All the fish looked like it was on the verge of turning spoiled. I don't think it was so much old but I think it had been sitting out too long. The containers need to be sitting in an ice bath or at least in a refrigerated display. Tuna was the only thing that looked like it had just come out of the refrigerator in the back. Crab salad tasted like it was all Mayo. Not sure what was up with that. Seaweed Salad was very sour. Sauces were whatever. And I didn't really go for any other toppings because the containers they were in looked grimy. Even my canned soda fell flat not long after opening which means it was old. Came back here two years later and its worse than what it was in 2022. For a bowl that is about $20, with half of the items being out of stock. Yet they still charge full price. Staff are slow, and when you ask them questions, they are slow to respond. They also have a yelp offer that they dont honor. The staff said that the owner does not honors it, and when you contact the owner via message, he says he does so who knows who is not saying the truth. Most of the proteins were sold out so I was bummed but I was still able to get hooked up with a fat bowl! No Poke shop in Ventura even comes close. I live within walking distance from Poke Rainbow and I'm glad that I do. When you first walk in you'll notice how neat and tidy the business is. Next you'll see the menu on the left wall. You can choose from a small, medium, or large. The small is two scoops of protein, the medium is three scoops, and so on. The toppings are unlimited which is absolutely amazing (because we all know the others will charge the arm and leg for toppings). The business is family owned and operated which makes me love it even more. The owner and his son are both very friendly and have great customer service. So this used to be our go to poke spot but man has it started to go downhill. First, the prices are a bit steep. When they rang us up on the iPad, the woman did not remove her gloves. She flipped the iPad around t for me to select the tip amount and I was really put off -- the screen was caked with food and sticky streaks. So much so that fingers became sticky when I pressed the prompts. I am floored that these employees did not remove their soiled gloves when going between the iPad and serving food. I wonder how many dirty customer fingers go between the iPad and the employees gloves which are directly handling our food. We were both so bothered by how unsanitary their practices are that we barely touched our food. We ended up throwing out the food and going somewhere else. So that's $45 down the drain. But the last time I came was subpar with the food and service, the portions have gotten smaller and the prices have gotten way higher. $15 for the smallest size and the small is sooo tiny. I always order from Rainbow Poke when I am in town for work . I get it delivered to my hotel and I have a hard time finishing the large poke bowl. That's why its my go to poke place here in Ventura. On my most recent trip I had it delivered and was wildly disappointed . For a large Poke bowl there was maybe a cup of combined fish, or the other hand the rice was probably closer to 3.5 cups. It was so heavy full of rice. Hardly any other ingredients. The rice was wildly overcooked. mushy. So I am a little wary of ordering from here again. Bummer. read more

I just don't know how this is not something that you train your employees on, because God willing his garments are clean, but you can't put on gloves and then start touching your body and then put your hands back inside raw fish. I love everything in my poke and that's exactly what I got! Some places are a hit or miss. Not this one!
