I got here a little after lunch on a Sunday. I went to the counter and the girl that was helping me said a few things were sold out. Totally understandable since it was past the lunch rush. A few things was an understatement, more like half the menu was sold out. I asked for the Katsu which they had listed as available. I was then told they are out of Katsu sauce. Fine, I'll take the teriyaki beef which was listed as available. I was then told they are out of teriyaki sauce. I then asked if there a was a fried rice dish that I can order. I just got a blank stare. This is not helpful at all. I was pretty annoyed. I ended up ordering the teriyaki beef with no teriyaki sauce and macadamia nut pancakes. I got the food and it was terrible. The macadamia nut pancakes were undercooked so it was doughy. The teriyaki beef had chunks of fat on it. I'm never coming to this place ever again.

While I was staring at the menu deciding whether I wanted to get anything, several people came and went with their orders and everyone told me to get the fried chicken. So, I went inside and got the fried chicken with macaroni salad. A few mintues later, I added a katsu musubi to the order. This is not fast-food. The wait is real. About 12 minutes. I then had probably about 10 minutes of driving before I sat down to eat. The fried chicken is delicious and has a great crispy/crunchy skin. There is a faint sweetness that coats the chicken. The meat was not super plump like some national-chain places (I think those places brine-injected the chicken). Depending on your preference, this might feel too dry to you. Their dipping sauce for the chicken is very tasty. If they just sold that in bottles, I'd come just to buy that for use at home! Speaking of preferences, the macaroni salad is also well made, but it's simple and might be disappointing if you're expecting some kind of flavor kick. I liked it very much, because it is in the style of the basic macaroni salad -- someone described it as going home to Hawaii for them -- and I think that's what it is. Portions were enough to split into two meals. So I had half of my chicken and the mac salad. I had planned to also only eat half of the musubi. But it was delicious and had a nice crunch which I'm sure would not have held up being kept in the fridge. I really enjoyed the musubi on its own, but also enjoyed taking turns with bites with that sauce added on. I stored the rest of the chicken and mac salad in the fridge and then had them for dinner 6 hours later. Despite being in the fridge, the chicken still had a bit of a crunchy bite to it - it wasn't a mushy soggy mess. Very friendly service. This is not a sit-down place you go to for a dining experience - just a solid place to get food to go that will be delicious. Now that I've had the fried chicken that everyone seems to recommend, I'm looking forward to trying the rest of their menu.

It is a small, unassuming little place with a free parking lot. Upon entering, I was greeted warmly, and I have to say, the service was great! The lady at the counter was super sweet and made small talk with me. I got my order which came out to $17.12 after tax. Food-wise, the fried chicken was indeed delicious! I loved the batter: it was shatteringly crisp. The chicken was tender and flavored well, but I loved the sauce that came with it! For the mac salad, I thought it was just okay. It tasted a bit plain from other mac salads I've tried, but the noodles were cooked perfectly. For the price, the portion size is okay, but I'm not complaining since the food was good. Overall, the friendly service and fried chicken is what makes me want to come back again! I definitely want to try their other offerings too. Would recommend!

My review: 3.5/5…read more Came here for an impromptu office lunch yesterday. I had read that the last day of DineLA was yesterday, and because of that, I had to check out their offerings. The outside is iconic as ever; the outer decorations was one of the primary reasons I decided to save this place on my list. The parking situation was a bit hectic, as their primary lot in the front is extremely small. After we found street parking, we found out that there was additional parking for the restaurant in the back. Nevertheless, after parking, we went inside of the restaurant. The inside fit the theme of the outside very nicely, as both were tiki/Hawaiian themed. We had discovered that they offered 15% off of your meal if you're dressed in Hawaiian prints, and we all joked that we could have gotten a big discount! We sat in a booth and placed our order. The restaurant was fairly busy and there was one guy working the floor. I felt bad for him, as he looked like he was running around everywhere. However, when it took about 30-40 minutes for our food to come out, I started to feel fairly impatient. The DineLA menu wasn't extensive but it was a good deal for $25. Also, the food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The brussel sprouts were good, the patty melt was equally good, and the pineapple upside down cake was also okay. The sandwich definitely needed something to cut the fattiness, and I opted to use the hot sauce on the table. Would I come back to Canoe House in the future? I think so, but definitely not for DineLA again. I think thats what made the restaurant busy. Either that, or they really need to hire more staff during times like these.

The drink is a bit stronger than anticipated and I asked my server if she could add extra pineapple juice to make it sweeter. The Brussel Sprouts were good but I wish I had more of it rather than just the leaves. The fried rice was good and the Sriracha added a nice touch to it. The server brought out the pineapple cake instead of the chocolate cake and forgot to tell me that they ran out. I was kind of disappointed at that but ate it nonetheless. Parking can be found in both of their lots and on the street.

You have to scan your phone on their iPad and it automatically opens the locker for your order. I ordered via Uber Eats since they were having a BOGO special. I was able to get the large mixed bowl with Hawaiian bbq chicken and steak with white rice, Mac salad, and sesame kale slaw. Additionally, I order sides of avocado, chili dusted pineapple, seasoned fries and cucumber salad. With the discount it was definitely worth it. The rice was perfectly cooked, meats were delicious and well seasoned, cooked to perfection. Mac salad was creamy and not too heavy, while the sesame kale slaw added a fresh touch. All the flavors mingled beautifully together, and the additional sides paired perfectly. Their seasoned fries did not disappoint either. I do have to say I was not a huge fan of the guava bbq sauce. Not for me but others might enjoy. I would definitely order from here again. It is on the pricier side, but most locations are having to deal with rising costs and it's understandable. Their food was quality along with their sides too. You're paying for the convenience of it being hot and ready than having to make everything yourself!

The day when I got to try and taste the beauty of Filipino food. When you enter the family market, you are introduced to the snacks, condiments, drinks, and some decorations about the Filipino culture and tradition and delicious snacks to give to family and friends or for yourself. There were lots of great Filipino snacks to munch on, but I sadly did not get anything. Because my main goal and priority was to try their delicious food. I ordered a to go container and got a lot of delicious proteins and carbs. I would highly recommend this to everyone who has never tried Filipino food, this place is the right place, and the place that you should try first! The staff were very welcoming and happy and excited to serve their customers walking in. 10 out of 10 stars for this Filipino family markets. And I will be back soon! This place is mostly famous for their Turon. Just the right amount of crunch to sweetness ratio. I especially love that they have catering trays for everything you would want to bring to a filipino party. You can order their Turon in orders of 5 or more which gives you plenty of options if you want people to share. The pieces are pretty long so my tip would be to cut them in half to feed more mouths. Last time I went I got their lumpia and pancit bihon. My goodness!! Delicious and so fresh. The noodles I ate for days even after the party but everyone enjoyed it. I like the thin and thick noodles so happy they offered more than just the traditional pancit. Plenty of lumpia sauce was given and was thankful they hooked it up. The team at Chaaaste is phenomenal!! Honestly everyone is so friendly and kind. They always ask me about my day and curious where I'm going with all their delicious food. So family oriented and you could tell they put a lot of love into their food. I especially love seeing the Lola's and Aunties behind the counter at the register. So sweet! They have a small parking lot but I never had issues parking. There are always spots open. It's in a small plaza, but they offer everything you could need filipino. There's even a convenience store and some steam table staples available throughout the day. Their longanisa is fire and can't go wrong with anything they have hot and fresh. Truly a treat to get something from here so come for your parties, come for the snacks, or just come for ready to go food. They have it all!!
