My +1 and I stopped here for a quick lunch after visiting the nearby Barnes and Noble. It wasn't hard to find, but we had to park around the back and walk around. Inside, the place was spartan and dim, and there was only one person inside who was happy to greet us. She explained what our options were and we both ordered the big bowls with 5 proteins. I picked tuna, spicy tuna, albacore, salmon, and spicy salmon. My +1 opted for scallops instead of the spicy salmon. They also offer cooked octopus and shrimp. They also had all the standard toppings, likes imitation crab meat, edamame, seaweed salad, etc. and a few different sauces. I tried the house sauce. I will say that I was a bit disappointed by both the quality and quantity. The proteins were a little skimpy and so were the toppings. My +1 mentioned that random pieces of fish were cooked, and they got her sauce wrong. Overall, it was edible but I've had much better elsewhere.

It was a Poli place. 11:30 am on a Tuesday, not much really going on. The place was empty with two staff members. Both of them were very nice, big smiles and helpful. This is long second time eating Poki ever, so they had to walk me through the ordering process and the different elements for me to create my own Poki bowl. Nice experience overall. My bowl was good, full of flavor and very tasteful, I had sushi rice (Sticky rice), shrimp, salmon , tuna, cucumbers, cilantro, avocados, crunchy garlic and soy sauce. I think that was all. Will definitely try it again if I am in the area. It's right off the 5 south, on Alicia Parkway!

After passing this place many times my second half and I finally strolled in here and gave it a shot. A bit more complicated than our usual spot, they offer build your own combos as well as premade selections. We opted to build our own burrito (me) and bowl (him). A few positives: There are more veggies available to add, making for a more filling and healthier meal. The veggies were fresh There were more options for mix ins than the usual spot, including edamame etc. Also more options for toppings, such as dried onion and garlic. Employee was nice and helpful A few negatives: Avocado costs extra Fish was mushy. Didn't care for the sauce, I tried the original poki cat sauce. Also had a taste of his grapefruit sauce, didn't stand out in any way. Will stick with the usual spot

Came here for lunch, and service was quick. Nothing super unique about the poke here. They had the standard fish options and standard toppings. The smallest bowl comes with 3 scoops of protein for ~$13. The fish chunks were a good size, and their traditional sauce was pretty good. Overall size was a good portion for lunch. I'm not sure which topping it was, but something was a little too hard/crunchy (maybe it was because there were too many sesame seeds). Overall, a good place to get a solid poke bowl.

4.5 rounded to 5. I have a set of nostalgic memories when I think of Poki Cat. I first came here during their grand soft opening because my then pregnant wife wanted poke, but couldn't eat raw fish. We called and Poki Cat did indeed cook the fish if requested (though for a charge), so we tried it out. The second time I went, my wife had just given birth and the first meal she requested was poke. Since Poki Cat was closest and we had a good experience prior, I came here again. Great service and yummy food both times! For sauces, I've tried the Poki Cat Original and the Eel Sauce, and both are good. I don't like a lot of sauce in my bowls in general, and the people there are more than happy to honor that request. Wow. this place is the best kept secret in Mission Viejo. Right next-door to my favorite nail salon, polish Avenue. This is a fresh sashimi sushi create it yourself bowl or seaweed sushi burrito. My favorite is the "best buddies "bowl with sushi rice and extra Poké sauce. My husband's favorite is the muddy buddies burrito with sushi rice and the goddess sauce :) check it out, I crave it now and have to hit it every time I get my nails done now. I find this place consistently friendly and a great choice for when everyone in the family wants a little something different. Not mad at the portions. I like the option for zucchini noodles and beets. Though the ingredients are always fresh, I have to get the raw stuff cooked so I can't speak on the freshness of the raw offerings but my husband always get salmon and has never had an issue. I appreciate being able to have any protein offering cooked. Tip: grab a bag of have'a corn chips and dig in. Bomb.com read more

I have to say - it takes a lot to get five stars as a poki place. If you're serving raw fish, its going to take an exceedingly high level of fish quality, add ons, and cleanliness to get you to 5 stars. I'm not saying that you need to meet the quality of the places in Hawaii that i'm used to, but at least try. I ordered a regular bowl with two salmon and and ahi. I do like the fact that they include a very healthy supply of garnishes (soybeans, ginger, krab) without additional cost. ...and it was just "meh.". If this were Marie Kodo - it just did not spark joy. I'm not saying that it didn't taste fresh, but it could have been fresher. Don't think i'll return. read more

I got a Food Posioning.... I had a sushi burrito with the salmon for a dinner. And that night was the worst day of my life. The worker wore a glove on only one hand and other hand was keep touching the ingredients with her long nails. Prep station was not clean either. Sushi Burrito was okay... but I'm never going to eat here again. read more

My husband has sworn by a poke place in Yorba Linda but it's a drive and we've been looking for a GOOD local poke spot and this spot by far is the best we've had in a very long time! 1. Customer service is on point (Rudy was welcoming and helpful) 2. Cali bowl and Sushi burrito were 10/10 really good on portions and filling! 3. Sauces were delicious we tried the snow sauce, Poki Cat, and creamy goodness. Definitely recommend this place for anyone in the area craving poke. Total was $25 for Burrito, bowl, and drink with two extra scoops and avocado. read more

Food was no good, you can tell shrimp was frozen cooked, nasty taste, got the creamy goodness sauce the whole experience was just awful. Now with COVID going on they should definitely be wearing gloves, place is not sanitary at all!!! Never going back. read more

Decided to try Poki Cat when I saw it on DoorDash. I'm usually not one to be stingy on poke, especially ordering it on DoorDash, I plan on the extra expense. However, I do think for the amount paid I should receive more than a few pieces of fish and toppings. My whole bowl was practically rice. There was one tiny scoop of imi-crab as opposed to the 2 scoops I ordered. Barely any Ahi Tuna and Salmon. The food quality itself wasn't bad but overall I do not think it's worth the price. read more

This place is super good but for some reason I don't know why if the person was stingy or lazy but by bowl was half way full and looked like shit and I got the large bowl. For paying $17 for a bowl you'd expect something much much better and man did they fall short. Not happy at all read more

Okay so all the reviews of the burritos falling apart- you're just doing it wrong. Get sushi rice if you want the burrito to stay together amazingly. I had one and not only was it delicious, but fulfilling that it ended up being both my lunch and dinner (and my appetite is big). I would recommend poki cat to a friend. I love this place! read more

Came here for a late lunch and just got a to go order. Most people who were coming in were getting food to go. There was a table with customers dining inside. The establishment was clean and it was straight forward of where to order. Service was great and the cashier/person who took my order was friendly. I ordered the 3 protein poke bowl with half and half (greens and rice). Salmon was my choice of protein and I got the spicy chef sauce - 2nd sauce listed. Ingredients were good and food tasted good as well. Serving size was not as large as I expected compared to other places I have gone and there were less topping choices than other places but over all a good lunch and I had no complaints. Okay so let me start off by saying that I am very picky when it comes to poké places because I have a fairly sensitive stomach. HOWEVER, after eating at Poki Cat, I can say that I a 100% approve! It's been an hour and a half since eating their super fresh and super tasty bowl of my own creation and I couldn't be happier. I even tried their spam musubi with egg and let me tell you, it's amazing. I honestly wished my bowl would never end but sadly, all things do have to come to one. Was somewhat disappointed in the selection and minuscule scoop size of proteins. Also lacking in topping selections and those were very sparingly put on. There are much better options for Pone bowls in the area with greater topping selection and more generous portions for the money. As far as taste - that was fine. read more

Just got our "bowls" from DoorDash and my husband and I were shocked. There was almost nothing but rice in our bowls. If I felt like having a bowl of rice with a few tiny pieces of fish and toppings I could have made it at home for 5$ instead of the 50$ we paid. I called to complain and of course no manager was available and the poor child making the bowls informed me that they weigh all their fish for each of the bowls so she couldn't understand why i was upset. It became clear to me the issue is with the owner and management. You are stingy!!! Save your money - skip Poke Cat and head straight for Poke Tiki. They don't weigh their fish with a barbie spoon and charge the moon. So disappointed. read more

I'd been driving by this place for a while and just hadn't stopped in. I'm super glad I did...it is very good. They offer sushi rice which most of the poke places don't offer. It's so much better than plane white rice. Their toppings are very fresh. I love that they mix up your toppings with your choice of sauce before adding it to the bowl of rice...it's so much better all mixed up... The staff was friendly and helping especially when it came to choosing a sauce...they have like 10 options. It wasn't very busy when I went in but apparently they get busy during the regular lunch and dinner hours. The restaurant was pretty clean, the restroom was clean. It's pretty cold inside so grab a hoodie if you are eating there. read more

This is honestly the best poke place I've had in awhile. Variety of fish, toppings and sauces is great and all ingredients are super fresh. You can make your own bowl or burrito or choose front their signature ones. The place is modern and clean, and staff are extremely friendly and patient for this first timer! Even though there was a customer behind me, I never felt rushed or weird about asking questions and the gentleman who helped me was super kind! I made my own bowl and it was absolutely delicious! Got Door dash from here. I got a regular size bowl and there was barely any food. I am a light eater who barely ever finishes my food but this was so small. It was supposed to have shrimp, scallop and crab and they were minute. I will have to eat something else to supplement it. Not worth the money. read more

I think I've eaten here 4 times in the last 2 weeks. Not only is the poki great, but the staff is fantastic. Rudy is a gem! He makes my bowls with love. I love the toppings here, and the sauce is killer. There are lots of different sea creatures to choose from. Kind of a bummer it's $1 upgrade to add octopus. The meats and toppings are always super fresh. This is seriously the best poke I've had. read more

This place was just not good at all! So expensive for what you get! It always seems like they are out of certain fishes and the veggies does not look fresh at all! My "crunchy" garlic topping or onions or whatever it was was chewy and stale. Just not worth the money. Therr are other poke spots that cost less and give more and have fresh veggies! read more

Super sweet lady working today, her enthusiasm is amazing! I got the 3 protein bowl with a sushi rice base and 3 kinds of Tuna. Added cucumbers, seaweed salad, cilantro, jalapenos, and crunchy onions on top. It's delicious and the secret sauce, I think she called it the "Spicy Cat", is perfection! I'll be back! read more

I hate leaving bad reviews but I think everyone should know... despite how ok the fish was and good selection toppings, $11 for a SMALL ASS CONTAINER WITH TINY SCOOPS OF FISH is seriously ridiculous and a rip off to those who support small businesses. I'd rather just go down the street with the same selections and quality of fish but with a BIG BOX. Ps. I paid and even tipped (my total was $15). Then I looked up and saw the container and regretted tipping. read more

I think I'm being generous with a 3 star rating. Serving size of their scoops for the protein is extra small. Their shrimp are not sushi grade shrimp and they still have shells in their tails. Embarrassing. I asked for sushi rice. Which they don't seem to have their based in front to make the bowls. They have to go to the back. They forgot my rice when they made my bowl. You would think they would get a new bowl and place the already mixed protein on top of rice. Nope. They clumped the rice on top then proceeded to mix it all up. I really wanted to like this place because it is so conveniently located and the prices aren't terrible. Only the staff seems to have never had build your own poke before. A shame for a new place. read more

I went to Poki Cat for the first the other day for lunch. It's around 2 miles away from my office. I enjoyed the different options for fish. Spicy salmon was a treat and definitely recommend to try it. I enjoyed the Chef's Spicy sauce. Had a very little kick (I have a high tolerance for spicy food), but tasted good. Poki Cat is a great place to grab lunch. read more

My new favorite poki spot. Fish is good, sauces are great. Not too heavy.. I like to taste my fish. Many choices for base, white, brown, sushi rice, salad, zucchini noodles... A few items were up charged including octuous, yellowtail and avocado but I'm OK with that. Lots of options for toppings. The new best poki spot around. read more

One of our new favorites! We are self proclaimed poke connoisseurs setting the bar high with fresh poke from Kauai. Fish is fresh and love the variety of fresh toppings including my fav pineapple which adds a sweet crunch. My husband got the zucchini noodles which is a great low carb option and tastes great. The snow was great- soy and mayo, and I paired it with spicy mayo too. The interior is modern and the chairs are big and comfy. Our son got the Japanese curry with chicken and he loved it. We sat down and noticed the pricing was quite high. Okay, the BOGO 50% off advertised makes sense now. (I personally hate this sales tactic just price your menu accordingly. Don't make me do math.) That brings the pricing down a bit and is a little more reasonable. The sushi came out relatively quick. I thought the standard rolls were too small. Instead of the 6 pieces there were only 5. And they cut it super thin too. Definitely stretching something here. The salmon was just okay, didn't have that bright fresh taste but in the back of my mind the whole time I'm thinking "you get what you pay for". In summary, the quality of the sushi is exactly what you're paying for with the BOGO 50 tactic.

She seamlessly added the extra guests without hesitation. Her only request was that we send over everyone's food orders ahead of time so the kitchen could prepare and ensure nobody had to wait too long. And wow -- they absolutely delivered. Every single order came out accurately and in a very timely fashion. No mistakes, no confusion, and the service was impeccable from start to finish. The servers were organized, attentive, and handled a very large group with ease. Service was truly 10/10. One of the reasons I chose Kin Sushi for a large group dinner was because the menu truly has something for everyone -- udon, sushi rolls, vegetarian rolls, bento boxes, chirashi, sashimi, and something for everyone. They even had Thai iced tea, which isn't normally something in you have in a Japanese restaurant. Parking was very easy, which is always appreciated when coordinating a large party, and there's a restroom conveniently located in the back. I'm beyond grateful for how well they handled our group, and I would absolutely return here again for future team dinners or large gatherings. Highly recommend!

In addition, the rice was probably a day old and clumpy that none of us could finish it. Bento protein portions are small especially for the salmon. Ginger and wasabi was offered as an option when sushi was ordered. No apologies and nothing was comped from our bill.

Based on this, I honestly think rolls are what they do best. I really hope they improve the preparation and seasoning of the chicken and beef because it was a major turnoff -- and this is coming from someone who eats pretty much everything. It's hard to justify paying around $22 for a bento when the main protein feels flavorless and insubstantial. With so many good Japanese resto in Lake Forest, I would skip this until the proteins are fixed.

I've been here a few times. The poke is ok. The only reason I've come back is that it's close to my house. But today, I found a chunk of plastic wrap in my food. And when I walked up to the counter to let them know, one girl looked at the other, and said "You deal with that", to which the other said "Well I didn't serve her!!". Possibly the worst customer service I've ever experienced..and I work at a restaurant. Definitely will NEVER come here again. They've always been rude, but this takes the cake. read more

Not sure why it is, but this particular place has really good poke. I think they put the proportions right rather than overdoing one thing. Hard to say in the mystery that is poke goodness. They also make it fast and the place is pretty clean and a good location. I've eaten my favorite custom bowl here way too often. Pretty sure they know me so well that they can do my combination in their sleep. It's a craving. read more
