This has been the greatest place for a while, but I felt the urge to leave a review especially after the service I had today! Their portions are so generous and you definitely get more here than any other poki place that I've been to. But on top of the portion size the guy who made my bowl today went above and beyond! I ask for my bowl a specific way because I count my carbs, and he obliged with no hesitation. Other places have been very rude about how specific I am. He also went in the back and got the nutrition facts of their new black rice (he took a picture so I can see them and because it was only on the packaging). I thought that was so nice because he could have easily said he didn't have them!! Well done, great customer service and I'll for sure be back soon read more

Finally decided to give this place a try today. I must say it was really really good. Fish is really fresh and I love how they have a good selection of fish. You can really customize it to however you like. Menu was a bit confusing for me. I understood the step process but not The Who how many scoops you can get before it is extra. I got the large bowl and it was super filling. Parking is annoying though. It is a very small parking lot and very busy. If you have a big car it will be tight since the lot is small and the spots are small. I will definitely be coming back to this place. I love how convenient it is to my house as well as it is good food. If you live in the area and like sushi/poke/fish try this place out. read more

Really fresh and good quality fish, but why do your employees skimp on scoops? One of my scoops of fish literally only had two pieces in it and when I asked for a better scoop, I was told no. Okay, so I've come around five times now, but the last two has left a sour taste in my mouth. -2 stars because of the service. It's a poke place, some people aren't going to be that well versed in how the process goes and will have questions. There's this short asian girl and she treated us so badly. She gives off a holier-than-thou attitude and like sighs if you ask her even ONE question. But hey, we came here when it was like 45 minutes before closing, maybe she was just frustrated because she had to close soon. But... we came in again today, and my heart sank when I saw it was the same girl. This time my sister and I came with my mother, and i was like maybe this girl will be nicer because it's dinner time now, but NOPE, still RUDE. This girl shouldn't work in a customer service job...ever. It's like making a bowl for you is an INCONVENIENCE for her, and she can't wait for you to finish even though both times...there was no one behind us... like why lady...this is why some people won't come back to Poki Star. -1 star because of the food. the fried onions made the whole bowl salty, i still taste the remnants of that in my mouth. Love the salad made with fresh spring greens, mixed with a little extra ponzu as dressing; while my kids appreciate the white rice as base, with Volcano 1 sauce for just enough kick. Been to many a poki joints and Poki Star is a keeper. PS offers a wide variety of yummy selections that provides a satisfying flavor including yummy sauces. Assuming the reader has been to other poki places before, I offer the following advice. One of the volcano sauce mixed with the ponzu sauce is my go to. I ask for Volcano #2 with ponzu (a combo). Provides heat with no burn. Depending who you get assembling your bowl, it's a hit or miss whether you get enough sauce so I ask for an extra squirt over the rice. Without it, you may get flavorful protein but plain a base (rice/ salad). Once you get to the end, you may be looking at the toppings and not the menu board and may miss out on the furukaki, toasted onion chips, sesame seed that is not obviously visible and off to the side. Especially the toasted onions adds a delightful crunch. Make sure you add that if you don't mind onions. read more

This is one of the better places. And I have been to several around town and in Irvine, too. Fish is of really good quality here. The only problem I have is their scooping method. It tends to be on the skimpy side. Please, for the price I am paying give me a nice heaping amount of fish. The little cookie scoop they use is on the small side to begin with. The avocado and crab is included in the price, not so the seaweed salad. I wouldn't mind paying for the seaweed salad quite as much if I received generous amounts of fish. There have been fried wonton chips only one time. I much prefer the wonton chips to tortilla chips. All in all, this is my favorite place to get poki. read more

I live right next to this place and go here all the time. The food is generously proportioned. It's super healthy and I usually ask for brown rice and bunch of salmon. I load it up w Veggies and sometimes ask for double cucumber. Avocado is extra but so worth it. The staff could be a little bit friendlier. read more

I usually go to poke island, even though it's further away. I came here because I saw it was closer to my office. I like the interior it's very open and the art work is cool. I ordered the large poke bowl to go. 3 scoops salmon 2 scoops shrimp. I will say that the fish tastes different than at poke island, it's fishier. I added almost everything besides mango (which replaced pineapple), avacado, wasabi, etc. I had cilantro, onions (they're like vinegar onions!!! Love them!!!) green onions, tobico (great size serving which I like), ginger, added seaweed salad which is I think .75 cents extra. Had salad as the base and topped with the ponzu sauce and their volcano (1). At poke island they give you different sauce options which I really like. I like the ponzu but with a little sweetness to it and a bit of spice to it as well. Maybe this place will add more flavors :) prices are reasonable especially for amount of fish you get. I'm torn between this and poke island (I've been a regular since they opened). Both have their own unique flavors and twists. Highly recommend coming here. My total was almost 13$ read more
