    8 Piece Family Meal
    Archie S.

If you enjoy good chicken whether fried or baked you will enjoy Pollo Campero. What initially drew me in besides the chicken was the fact that they had Plantains as a side and some how it made me want to try this place out. I got their 8 piece Family Meal which comes with some sides as well. For the sides I got their beans, plantains and yuca fries. You get some bread rolls with the order with the chicken. The great thing too is that it was all drumsticks and thighs so I do not believe they have breast or wing. The chicken was good in simple words, had a nice flavor and it was tender. The plantains went great with it, the yuca fries and the beans were just ok. Yuca fries seemed a little too hard and soggy at the same time so I didn't know what to make of it. Either way I would come here again to get the plantains and chicken.

This is my first time ever having Pollo Campero, which is located in West Covina. This place seems like a Mexican-style fried chicken spot. I ordered an 8-piece combo meal for takeout, including yucca fries and mac and cheese. It comes with four dinner rolls, and I believe this is for four people to enjoy together. They have grilled chicken and also fried chicken, I tried both but enjoyed the fried more. It has a lot of flavor. The yucca fries are unique and different maybe not everyone will like it, but I think this is not bad. The mac and cheese was a little plain to me and tasted almost like it was mush. Service was quick from the drive through but I didn't go inside. So can't say anything about the interior.

Was disappointed with the chicken. Flavor was lacking and the skin was not crispy at all. The empanadas were really food. The yucca fries were also soggy. Not impressed at all.

Decent fried chicken place! We got the 4 piece chicken which came with 2 sides and a drink. The chicken breast was really good and not dry at all! Small parking lot and food comes out quick!

This was an unexpected like! The food here is fresh the beans have seasoning to them !Service pleasant and friendly with paper wrapped metal cutlery brought to your table on actual plates! The ambiance is fast casual and clean with glass blown lighting and spacious seating . A level up from other sit down fast dining places.

Good food, good atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Shoutout to the guy in the dining area who was always checking up on us and welcomed us at the entrance.

Had some time during lunch break and decided to pull up to campero. I was suggested this spot by one of my homies who lives closeby, and he said it was really good so I decided to go check it out myself. Walking inside it was nice and cold which was great since it was about 98 degrees lol. Went to the front and the menu was easy to read and navigate, decided to go with the 3 piece fried chicken meal. It came with 2 sides where I chose the mac n cheese + french fries. To my surprise the order was ready in less than 3 minutes, legit right after I filled up my drink and sat down the food was ready. The chicken tasted great, fried to a great point and was cripsy all around and the meat itself was tender and well cooked. The chicken flavor reminds me of how malay/indo chicken is made which is odd because this was a mexican joint. The french fries and mac were standard, solid and did the job. The dinner roll was also good and complimented the plate (a bit small but that's alright), you have a choice of a tortilla as well. Overall a 8.5/10, this is a good spot if you are craving fried chicken at a decent price ($13.50 for the meal). I'd definitely come back during my lunch again.

    Classic Campero Chicken Sandwich Meal

This chicken sandwich only had chicken , pickles and bun, that's it and I have to say was the best chicken sandwich I've had for fast food, compared to Chick-fil-A, Popeyes, Jollibee's. KFC. This simple sandwich packs a punch! The flavor is in the chicken. Very filling!

Initially, my expectations were very low. However, wifey and I were pleasantly surprised!! Even though the fried chicken is more popular than the grilled, I personally thought the reverse. Either way, the chicken is very well seasoned before cooking. The flavor penetration is worth the wait time. The service is very warm and friendly. The facility is clean and well maintained. The yuca fries go well with the dipping sauce. The mango and Jamaica water isn't very sweet, very refreshing . I was impressed by the fact if you order to eat in, your meal is served on colorful plastic plates. Fast food doesn't get any better than this. Personally, I don't know why this restaurant is averaging 3 stars. Please give this restaurant a try!!

This was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Everything tasted so fresh! I can wait to try it again.

The plaza it's in isn't impressive, and it has no flashy sign. It's next to a laundry place and a 7-11. The food we had was good. The Cuban sandwich is different from the typical pressed panini. It's made with sourdough bread. It's not overpowering in any particular flavor, and most importantly, it's not greasy. Adding extra Dijon mustard makes a big difference. Replacing fries with house-made potatoes adds a nice variation. It was missing sliced pickles. The flavor was good and melted cheese paired well. The smoked bagel would be better with sliced red onions and capers, which were absent. Otherwise, it was good. The bagel wasn't overly dense. The service was quick and friendly.

One of the main reasons I love ordering this particular dish is because of the Mediterranean salad that normally comes with it. Today, instead of the salad, it came with zucchini, and the zucchini was so hard I could barely even bite into it. Another time, the sides were different as well. Even the flavor of the food seems to change from one order to another. Today I also placed my order ahead of time, drove about 10 minutes to pick it up, and still had to wait another 10 minutes once I arrived, only to receive a meal that wasn't what I was expecting. I genuinely like this restaurant, and the owner is always lovely, so I really hope they can work on consistency--both with the ingredients/sides and the flavor. When you find a dish you love, you want to be able to order it again and know you're getting the same great meal each time.

Service makes me hesitant to return…read more Interior was nice, old-school restaurant vibes, but didn't look completely dated or anything like some places. We got served some good old fashioned chips and salsa, always a favorite. I think I saw a piece of mango floating in it but I could be wrong, as it did not taste sweet. Tasted quite peppery so maybe it was a bell pepper. I have no idea. Salsa did have a different taste than the usual onion, garlic, tomato, cilantro so I'm unsure what they do here. Chips were fine, not hot and fresh but had a nice crunch to them. Most Mexican restaurants I've been to have this similar combination option and I saw their menu had a combo with three items: one enchilada, one chile relleno and one crunchy taco. I thought, awesome, I get to try one of each and see how I like 'em. I normally get a taquito with my meal so I asked the waiter if it was ok to order this combo with a taquito or flauta in place of the crunchy taco. He said no. Not, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience but we don't allow substitutions, thank you for understanding, etc." Just, no. Ok...? Never been to a place that cared much about me subbing a taco for a taquito, unless the plates are preassembled with a crunchy taco, which doesn't make any sense. Thought that was a little off-putting but onward... We ordered the potato taquito appetizer that was listed on their menu. Plate arrives and it's huge - which made sense since it cost $18 - but they were all visibly beef taquitos. I happened to be dining with my vegetarian friend, hence the ordering of potato taquitos, so we kindly informed the waiter that we ordered potato and these were all beef taquitos. Waiter confusingly indicated that these were potato taquitos and we kind of glanced at each other like... uhhh, there's clearly shredded beef in there sticking out, so we pointed it out. Waiter looks again, points to one specific taquito on the plate and says, "Well, that one is potato." The waiter eventually clarified that the taquitos were actually beef with potato. I politely informed him that since my friend is vegetarian and the menu didn't specify beef in the taquitos, we couldn't accept or eat the dish. The waiter was pushy about it and suggested we just take them home and eat the leftovers. Dude no. I ordered potato taquitos and we're only two people, and this was a massive plate of around 15 taquitos. I don't have an air fryer or oven at home, either, so I really have no proper way of reheating and I'm just one person. Either way, none of this was something I felt was worth arguing over. Just take the friggin taquitos back. We sat there uncomfortably for a bit and waited for our main meals to arrive. Got my combo, and it was honestly pretty good. Flavors were fresh and vibrant, even the taco was good although I was bitter it was a half-moon fried piece of tortilla with beef instead of a rolled fried piece of tortilla with beef. :( It's a joke, chill. We finished and the waiter brought out the bill. We quickly left our cards for payment and in clear view for the waiter to pick up so we could leave and digest by walking at the mall or something, but he never came. He walked by a few times, cards were sticking out... still nothing. After 30 minutes, my friend says she thinks we have to pay at the front. Would've been nice to know about 30 minutes ago. Paid at the front, left, and I won't be coming back. Food was actually pretty good but it unfortunately did not outweigh the lack of service and overall experience of eating here. Parking was good, at least.

Decently sized portions that left 2 hungry adults full and we had some left over to go as well. The restaurant is a bit small, but can fit lots of seats and tables inside. It can get cramped just by positioning of chairs, etc., but no biggie when we went, just keep this in mind for rush hour. Didn't take too long for our food to come out. For our visit, we got the classics: 1) Lomo Saltado: -Deliciously seasoned and moist pieces of lean beef with sauteed onions, tomatoes, with fries and rice. -I usually don't like sauteed veggies, but the slight char and the sweetness went so deliciously well with the umami of the beef and the double carbs of the rice and the fries are just so deliciously indulgent with the salty combo of the proteins. -Love, love, LOVE the Aji and Chimichurri sauces that they have here too. Truly the pinnacle of this type of cuisine and adds such a delicious burst of flavor to an already flavorful dish. 2) Chaufa de Pollo: -Simple chicken fried rice with onions and some scrambled eggs and bits of chicken. Some chicken bits were a tad dry and the rice was a little oily, but not too big of a deal since this was a very indulgent lunch for us. Would love to come back again to try more of their menu.
