So my little family traveled from Phoenix,AZ to Los Angeles this past weekend on 12/16/22 for a family get together. While searching what to eat on Saturday night we found out that they have these here in the L.A. area I was like "WOW" .. if you know you know about this place . As far as I know it comes from Central America but mainly in El Salvador . When we visited El Salvador nearly 2 years ago for a sad occasion we ate this out there . It was the best . We walked in to this restaurant in Los Angeles area this past weekend it felt like being in El Salvador people where friendly, helpful , the smell inside just awesome . And best of all the flavor was on point and just as I remembered. Can't wait to go back !!! My son and I decided to try this place out based on: a) I've heard it was good and b) he was craving fried chicken. Is it pricey? Yes, but TBH, EVERYTHING is pricey nowadays. Was it worth it? I think so. He ordered a 4 piece chicken meal (fried): He ate three pieces and I had one: The chicken was not dry and was moist. We really liked the seasoning. The only thing I wish was that it was a little bit hotter (as it was on the warmer side). As sides, I ordered plantains and I convinced him to try their mashed potatoes. The plantains were quite good and sweet (and I had yet to encounter a drive through that had plantains as a side). The mashed were good (tasted like most fried chicken places mashed) and piping hot. He ordered their Horchata and it was reminiscent of a "Sebada" drink from an El Salvadorian restaurant. Tried this place last night for dinner. Drive thru and lines inside were all packed. I'm a patient guy and I know this place is new so I expected a wait inside. Ordered two 3 piece meals. No grilled chicken available so got fried chickens instead. Chicken itself was just ok. Not a lot of crunch on the skin. Kinda disappointed. We had 4 sides included. Plantains were good! Campero beans was very good! Yucca fries was ok (Never had Yucca anything so I really can't say). Rice was good also. We got Horchata and Mango drinks and they were just ok. There was no soap in the restroom and they claimed they only had soap in the kitchen for their employees because they ran out.That made me a bit skeptical about how they wash their hands when employees use the restroom.I was given a small package of hand sanitizer because they said they weren't allowed to give me soap from their kitchen to wash my hands.As I finished eating,I saw an employee stock the restroom with soap.The chicken didn't have munch flavor and the macaroni and cheese was soggy.I was definitely not happy with my first and last experience here. read more

Went here with high hopes, got shot down. Wanted to try their chicken empanadas, and they did not have any currently. Also, wanted to try their spicy chicken sandwich, and they did not have the sauce to make it. That was disappointing. Had to settle for the regular chicken sandwich. Was not bad. I really don't understand why this place has such a lot rating. I started going to Pollo Campero in downtown LA. Now that I live in Duarte I'm glad they have this location in Covina. This location delivers the same great tasting chicken as the others, and the interior is modern and clean. If you eat your food in the restaurant you get it on a real plate and metal utensils which is a very nice feel compared to other fast food places that give you a plastic spork to eat out of a cardboard box. Plus this is more sustainable and environmentally friendly. Someone complained about the price, I usually get the 2-piece individual meal (leg and thigh + 1 side) and a drink and it cost me $12, which is around the same price for a combo at any clown fast food place but this is so much tastier and comes with so much more food than other places. So overall, I don't understand all the other bad reviews, but I love coming here and will continue to do so! The fried chicken here is my favorite, the batter is unique and full of flavor. This place has no business being so expensive when the portion of the side you get is the size of what you would serve to a baby, the chicken was covered in grease, i literally dabbed it with two napkins and the napkins were soaked after that. Because of how much oil they use me and my husband's stomach hurt and felt weird the rest of the day. 10/10 would NOT recommend ever coming here. The quality of the chicken is amazing. The only thing I will say that hope gets better in time is the speed of the service. When I pulled up to the speaker in drive -thru I had to wait 5 mins. My family and I were so excited to try this place. We spent over $80 for the 20 piece family meal, with an additional side that was supposed to be family size as well. And two individual sides. As you can see in my photo, the family size that is supposed to feed six, comes out to one and a half ice cream scoops. What a joke. The chicken was okay at best. The fries and the coleslaw leave a lot to be desired. The beans were very flavorful but we're served cold. The rice, tasted like that microwave Rice you get from Uncle Ben's. Their dinner rolls? Straight out of the freezer a Hawaiian roll that you could buy at your local store and it would be better. Over $80 and not even given a napkin. I'm taking into consideration how busy it is being the grand opening, but that does not mean these portions should be what they are nor the quality. Will not be going back. If you're from central america you will be disappointed hahaha! :-) First of all, the chicken is not bad, is actually very tasty and I actually liked it, BUT, it does not taste like Pollo Campero at all. Period. But the worse part from this restaurant is how bad, I mean REALLY bad, the cole slaw and mash potatoes are. Gee wiz man it is really bad and of THE lowest quality I have ever had. Really embarrassing if you ask me. What I suggest is go buy only the chicken, then go to KFC and get the cole slaw and the mashed potatoes with biscuits and you will be very happy. Just opened and packed. Parking a challenge to say the least. Went through the drive thru. It was fast, efficient and friendly. The food is excellent and exceeded pur expectations. We ordered a 2 piece meal and the empanada trio both very tasty. Portions are a bit small and pricing is much higher than any others chicken fast food.. 30.00 for 2 small meals?
