This restaurant had tasty seasoned chicken, their black beans were good but the plantains were burnt. It was absolutely horrible. I am no longer a Pollo Tropical virgin. Before three weeks ago, I had never seen or heard of Pollo Tropical. However, upon arriving in Miami, I see that they are more prevalent than even McDonald's. I've always just driven by, and never had any intentions of ever stopping. However, my very picky friends had it one day and suggested that I try it because they were pleased with their food. As I walked in, my first impression was that the place was decent for a fast food-esque type of place. There was outside seating, and the inside was quite clean. I ordered the trio of chicken, ribs, and steak. My two sides were beans and rice and curly fries. My food was ready very fast. Before I left, I stopped by the condiment bar. There were a few different types of sauces, but I just chose BBQ and ketchup. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the condiment bar was. Maybe it was because I went during a not very busy time, but that never seems to be an issue in other nasty piggish places that I have been during non-busy times. I took my food home, and the aroma in the car on the way there was making my mouth water. I could not resist testing out a few fries on the ride home. They were seasoned and pretty delicious. Once I got home, I dug into the meat. I must admit, the chicken was pretty dry. But, it was edible after I dunked it in the BBQ sauce. The ribs were decent. Actually, they were better than any of the ribs that I had while living in Kansas City for nearly 9 months, but that is not saying much. The steak was not all that impressive. But, this is coming from a person who likes medium-rare to rare steak. Although I certainly did not expect it to be so, the steak at Pollo Tropical is not the quality of meat that can be eaten medium-rare or rare. The beans and rice were tasty. I got them on a recommendation from one of my friends, who is a bean fanatic. Next time I go, I will try something else. I think I may go for the fajitas. Not sure though. read more

My family eats from here about once every two weeks. It is very healthy for fast food. We like the chop chops. My son has the grilled chicken with Rice and Beans and loves having all the topping options. I too have the chop chop but skip the rice and just have lettuce with beans and chicken. Im from California, and in Cali there is Pollo loco, but this place tops it by far. The food is bomb here, it reminds me of a delicious home cooked meal, just like Mama would make it. Pollo tropical is my go to fast food, I just ordered 2 tropi chops and they barely had any chicken. I was very disappointed.

Don't go through the drive through if you speak English! I promise, you will be missing items. I used to still go to this Pollo Tropical because it was close to my home, despite knowing that I would be missing items from my order. The final straw was when they didn't give me a tropichop, which was like half of the order! I complained to the manager, and after hearing 10 minutes of excuses, they gave me my money back. I won't be returning. Stopped for late night dinner. I think we got the fries from lunch and yesterday's chicken.

I was a customer on Feb 16, 2019. I placed an order for a Tropichop and cheesecake. About 12-13 customers were waiting ahead of me to get their orders. Two customers were getting takeouts with 4 dinners in each order. As they received their orders, they were obviously not the order that they placed. They told the employee, a female hispanic woman. I could see them pointing to their dinner and pointing to the menu on the wall, telling the employee that the order was wrong. She argued with them. Each of these transactions took about 5 minutes. You could see that the issue was not resolved for either customer. It appeared that the employee told them "too bad, you're stuck with this" or something similar. Both customers looked furious, after trying to get their order corrected unsuccessfully, exited the restaurant, shaking their heads and talking under their breath like "I will never come here again". After about 22 minutes my order was ready. I sincerely thought it was not mine because a large pile of onions or sauerkraut was on top. An employee (not the rude one) sat it on my tray and called my number. I said, "I don't think this is mine, it is not what I ordered." She (a different employee, not the rude one). started reading each item on the receipt and pointing to my Tropichop. I said, "But what is this?" pointing to the onion/sauerkraut. She looked puzzled. I said, "No problem, I'll take it. Where is my cheese cake?" She looked puzzled like she never heard of cheesecake. I asked again. She said, "This is your order." I pointed to the cheesecake on the receipt and said, "the cheesecake". The rude hispanic female employee came up and in a rather rude voice said, "Ma'am, we will help you get your order" The she sort of scolded the employee pointing to the refrigerator and the order on the screen. Now 25 + minutes had passed since placing my order. I took the dish and threw the onions/sauerkraut in the trash and ate my dinner. Although this is one of my favorite fast food places, it will be a long time before I go to a Pollo Tropical, if ever. I cannot believe how rudely this woman dealt with customers. read more

I ordered online. I made made this order prior to my break time because I know it takes time to drive there. The first time I did an online order I came to pick up my food and it was ready. I came today to pick up my online order and they told me "online orders aren't through us" I told them it's not possible because I picked up an order the week before. What they did was give me excuses and attitude. I take time from my break and order to prior to my break time so I come in and pick it up. They completely wasted my time.
